Night looked over at Glacier before nodding. "Alright, let's wait until they are far enough ahead before following." Night sat down next to the female, watching as Illusion walked up to Shadow and said something.
Shadow turned as Illusion walked over. He flattened his ears, he still did not like the male. "We're not going for violence, so I doubt you will be of much use." Shadow growled at him before turning. "Stay close if you must come," he said over his shoulder before trotting after Opal. Frost laid down on his back, most likely keeping an eye on the wolf.

|Illusion|

"I'm not going to kill something. I was to map it out." His face was straight as he watched them go. (Sorry it's short, I don't have much time to write)

Opal sprang to the air, she didn't bother trying to explain to wolves why she couldn't hoot like a barn owl. She looked down to see a fox. She startled but then realized it was Shadow's friend. She relaxed and kept flying low,keeping an eye on the wolves following. She called down " Stay here, let me look ahead." With that she flew high and went a couple metres forward. Nothing. She went and quickly flew to the jaguar's den. She saw them, all four plus the cub. All gnawing on a corpse of some unfortunate animal, it was unrecognizable. She flew back rapidly and told the creatures below quiet but audible "The Jaguars are by the den, all four. The juvenile,the two adults and the cub. The juvenile looks sick so be careful. " She carefully flew down so the creature could see her face. She added after it quickly "'You still wanting to go?" . The Forest mist was starting to creep towards them. Opal shivered but kept her calm.

Artemis groaned loudly. She was about to get up again when blackness s allowed her. She felt her headache coming back and then suddenly it was gone. She seemed to be in a forest full of wolves, she gave a sharp gasp as she saw wolves by the den that now belonged to the Jaguars. She saw pups playing in the dappled sunlight. She frowned, A black silhouette of a wolf crept away and came back with the Jaguars, just two at the time. She whimpered in her unconsciousness as the jaguars killed pups,mothers and elders. 7 or 8 wolves beckoned her to come and her feet,no longer hers to command went with them. One of the wolves was a white wolf who looked like the one outside the den. She collapsed the den entrance and Artemis followed the other wolves. She and the other wolves came out at the other end. She suddenly spoke,her voice was not her voice. It was a deeper voice, she looked at them disappearing. It kind of looked like one of the dens she knew. She ran back towards the passage and wriggled through the rubble. Some wolves followed her , they saw the Jaguars bounded towards her . Blackness.

She startled awake, she was shaking so much and she couldn't stop whimpering. She muttered a few words "Magic wolves surrounding the den. Magic wolves created the forest barrier. Magic wolves. Magic wolves." She whimpered once more and fell asleep .

Lou heard a thump and am then silence. He trotted to Starty Night, the healer's. He came in and looked at the he unconscious Artemis and then suddenly he couldn't stand it any longer. He carefully Took out the light and put it on a pile of moss. Artemis woke up as soon as he had taken it out of her ear. She muttered something about magic wolves surrounding the den. He was confused so he was about to speak to her when she fell asleep. "What was that about Starry Night?" He asked curiously.

Starless watched as Artemis fell asleep, testing whether the glowing thing wanted to come off or not. A couple minutes later, he got the little bug out and quickly wrapped it into a leaf so it couldn't escape. He would study that later. Artemis muttered something about magic wolves before falling asleep again. Starless frowned slightly before hearing, "What was that about Starry Night?" He turned to find Lou next to him. "I'm not quite sure Lou. I believe it was a hallucination concerning this weird glowing thing. Once she wakes up, we'll be able to ask her about it."

"The Jaguars are by the den, all four. The juvenile,the two adults and the cub. The juvenile looks sick so be careful. You still wanting to go?" Opal asked, alighting beside him after a bit. Shadow turned in the direction before saying to Opal, "I'm going in. Could you stay close to the den? I'll need you to get out of the mists." He shook his pelt and Frost jumped off before hissing, "Four?! Are ye crazy?! How in the world am I supposed to take on four? If it was one, I would be perfectly fine." Frost had his fur fluffed up in an angry mood until Shadow said, "Who said you were taking them on? All I want you to do is stir them up and lead them away. I need to get into the den. Do you think you can do that?" Frost calmed down, his fur flattening. "You could have just said that. You said there was a cub?" Frost asked and Shadow nodded. "Then this will be a piece of cake. I suggest you be quick though, there isn't many places to take a cub safely."

Frost darted off and Shadow gestured Opal to a boulder nearby. They were downwind, so the jaguars would not pick up their scent. A roar echoed before Frost darted back the way they came with the cub in his jaws. The fox was sprinting at full tilt as were the three jaguars on his tail. The juvenile lagged slightly but still passed them without noticing them. Once they were out of his sight, he darted forward towards the den. When he saw it, he froze. The corpses surrounding it were very much wolf-like. He flattened his ears before starting forward slowly. He couldn't see it...yet. Shadow started into the depth of the cave, ignoring the smell.

He paused at a pure white pelt before continuing down the narrow tunnel. He knew he didn't have too much time but...he had to be here. He couldn't be dead. It wasn't possible unless..Shadow came to a cave. Mulitple tunnels ran off in different directions but Shadow chose one on the right, slipping down as it dipped farther into the mountain. He rounded a corner before stopping. Shadow flattened his ears lowering his head before walking forward. A large black wolf lay curled in a ball in the center. Scars marked through his fur, his eyes were closed. Shadow knew better though, those eyes would be sapphire. Like his own.

Shadow looked around at the remnants of his pack before looking at his father. Shadow went over before pulling out the necklace, the sapphire gem glowing gently. He slipped it on before sitting down and closing his eyes. His father's spirit rose and circled Shadow. Another joined until several was trotting around him. Unaware of the exchange, Shadow used the necklace to release the souls from the bodies to go to heaven. His father let the rest go before circling Shadow again, It's your turn my son. Protect the heirloom well. You must choose the wolves that will be able to protect the forest. I believe one is sleeping in a healer's den as we speak. The spirit finally disappeared into the necklace before Shadow opened his eyes. Rebuild the pack. Something he thought could never happen, that he could never do. Shadow curled up next to his father's body, trying to figure out his father's last words of advice.

Frost carried the cub as far as he could with it squealing and all. Shadow didn't like it when they tried to kill off cubs so Frost promptly left the cub at the top of a tree. The mother would most likely climb up after it. Frost darted back into the woods towards the cave, hearing the roars of indignation behind him. Hah, those jaguars never had to deal with a fox before. Probably never seen one either. Frost would play that to his advantage. He found a thorn bush on his way back and paused before stripping down a vine. Wrapping the vine carefully around the thorn bush, he dug up the roots before pulling it into the middle of two trees. Stringing up the bush so it hung in the air, he tied it purposefully between the two trees that he had gone through to get to this point. Satisfied that when the jaguars tripped, the bush would fall, he scampered back towards the den. Spotting Opal, he ran over to her before jumping up next to her. "Where's Shadow? He should have been out by now." Frost asked, looking around. This was the first time he had time to study the den and realized with a jolt that there were dead wolves around the opening.

Killjoy felt something weird in the air. Where was Night, Shadow, Gwendoyln, Glaicer, Illusion? He spun around, and picked up a lope, that turned into a sprint. His legs carryed him down the hill, through the breeding ground, over three streams, and back to his friends. He skidded to a halt, sending dust all of Illusion. Illusion growled at him.

"Where is Shadow?" Killjoy asked Night in a panic. "There is something weird going on!" His voice was filled with panic, but his eyes were calm. He was looking around the dark forest, scoping out any, and all escape routes. Something he had picked up being a loner. As he thought of being a loner, he realized how far, and how much his pack had been through. Sure they had lost plently of wolves, wolves that he cared for more than himself, but they were still strong. He though back to the time of wandering around by himself, waiting for someone to find him. A saving grace. It did, but not in the way he had thought of. He felt very grateful to the humans for grabbing him, and putting him in the cages. How else would he have meet the wonderful wolves surrounding him?

Killjoy sat down next to Night, where Illusion went and sat on the other side. It had been a while since Killjoy felt so happy. His tail went still as he watched Opal and Frost talking. There was something wrong. Very wrong. The plans he mapped out played, and replayed in his head, over and over again, just incase he had to go and grab Shadow to get out. Of course Shadow should be fine, but there was always a chance something would go wrong. As he was studying the den, looking for any opening in the back, he heard Illusion whine. He looked over, and saw the worry in the wolf's eyes too.

Frost looked over, finding Night, Glacier, Illusion and Killjoy sitting there. He blinked before padding over to them. He was about to say something when he heard pawsteps coming their way. "Scoot!" He growled at them, nudging them behind the boulder with Opal. He hopped behind it as one of the adults returned with the cub. Nothing stirred in the den. The jaguar sat down outside the cave, licking at a paw that was no doubt filled with thorns. Frost flattened his ears before whispering to the others, "I don't know this cave. I don't know any back way in or out." He looked over to them worried before preparing himself to distract the jaguar from the cave again.

Killjoy's eyes grew wide.

"Can you distract it enough for me to go inside, and find Shadow? I'll be quick." His eyes pleaded at the fox. He bit his lower lip, and sat very still, hoping the big cat wouldn't see them sitting there. Killjoy almost blended in with the background, as he was nearly the color of the dirt, and it was dark, but he knew how good the cat's eyesight was. He slowed his breathing, collecting it, and trying really hard to breath as little as he could. It was working, but not for long. He was searching the backside again. There must be another way in! But I'll go in the way Shadow did, it'll be more likely that I'll find him that way. His eyes were searching the cat, as something caught his attention. Why were there so many dead bodys? He shook it away, and looked at Frost.

Frost looked up at Killjoy before looking at the big cat again. "Alright, but I don't know how well you know the cave. I've never been down there before. It should be small if all the corpses are out here." Frost said before darting out. The big cat's head snapped up as he growled at Frost. Frost jumped onto a rock before jumping over the jaguar's head. Darting underneath the big cat as it whirled, he grabbed the cub again before bolting into the forest. Probably the only reason the jaguar would have followed him. He could hear the roars of anger behind him and he darted up a tree as he felt the breath of it on his tail. It scrambled up the tree but Frost was already bounding from branch to branch. Hurry Killjoy, I can only do this for so long. Frost thought as he dropped to the ground again.
