Name

Celestine Starcatcher

Age

243

Gender

Male (He/him)

Species

Dragon (Formerly)

Draconic human (Currently)

Sexuality

Gay

Rank

First mate

Reputation

On the boat he’s fairly well respected, albeit seen as a little prickly if he doesn’t know you very well. Off the boat he’s seen as a scary giant dragon man who eats commoners for breakfast. He’s generally fine with that though.

Motivation

To lift the curse that turned him into a human and to return to his family back in [the dragon kingdom, name TBD]

Appearance

(c) silhouetteissleepy

(I'll make a full body ref for him one day I promise......)

Celestine loves robes, loose-fitting clothes, and layers. He only tends to wear light clothes when sleeping. He often has his cutlass sheathed and attached to a belt he wears loosely over his robes. He particularly prefers to wear reds and dark browns to match with his horns and other scales. His horns, hands, neck, and arms are all adorned with shiny bright jewellery that he's collected over the years.

His hair reaches down to his waist and is pale brown in colour; his eyes sharp and red. His skin has a warm hue, not all that tanned but not super pale either. He's often described more as pretty than handsome, understandably so. His ears are droopy and rounded in an elf-like way, but it would be impossible to otherwise mistake him for one. He has a long and thin dark red tail, with beautiful and reflective scales that he’ll sometimes give as gifts, or sell when he moults them. He has even darker spikes on the top of that tail, which unfortunately do not grow back so do not attempt to take them. He has other scales on his body too, on his chest, calves, and back. He stands at 6 '4, and has a pretty decent amount of muscle on his body (although it’s usually hidden under aforementioned really baggy robes). He has a scar on his left hip going up across his stomach to the right side of his chest from the injury sustained during the battle that ended with him getting cursed. This scar still stings and brings him discomfort on occasion despite how long it’s been.

Personality

Celestine has that trademark Dragon greed in magnitudes. He wants all the pretty things, and he wants all the shiny things. He also absolutely swindles people out of their cash, he’s a very talented conman (mostly because he’s a 6 '4 dragon man). He leaves the crew’s treasure alone (though this wasn’t always the case…) but anyone off the ship is fair game. If you give him treasure he will remember it forever, it is the quickest key to this man’s heart. There’s very few people who get to see through his prickly exterior, but he absolutely loves everyone that he does care strongly for. Everyone else though he just kinda tolerates. He also kinda has a sense of humour but it’s so flat and so dry people often don’t even realize he’s telling a joke in the first place. (which disappoints him immensely someone laugh at his jokes please)

He’s very emotionally repressed, and doesn’t really stop to let himself feel his grief or his sadness. He just constantly wants to keep pushing forward, he has a very ‘mind over matter’ mindset. He used to be pretty closed minded about humans, elves, and witches but has absolutely grown since then. He has a competitive spirit, and believes some healthy competition is a good way to raise morale within the crew. All of this was caused by how he was raised in his Clan. He was never really allowed to express himself, he was there to fulfil his role. There was always someone aiming to take his spot, he needed to maintain his reputation so that he would be left alone.

The incident that cursed him really did mess him up bad in more ways than one. He no longer trusts himself like he used to, terrified that he'll screw something up and get everyone killed. He's happy to be first mate, he loves being in a position to do more for the crew, it's just...all that bottled up self-doubt is coming right back to him. He genuinely feels comfortable in the life he's leading now, it's all become normal to him to the point that he has nightmares about something happening to the crew. It's conflicting to say the least, he wants to go back to his family but he's starting to really get used to this. He couldn't have this if he was a dragon again. He couldn't live along side them like he can now. But despite this, he misses the sky as if it was once part of him. It's not something he could ever bear to be without forever. A choice looms over him. A choice he'll have to live with the consequences of.

  • Pointless compassion (specifically regarding people not on the ship and/or the critters his crewmates become emotionally attached to)

Strengths

  • Cunning

  • Good leadership skills

  • Good at making maps

  • Loyal to the people he loves

  • Composed under pressure

  • Protective of the crew

  • Has a fair bit of knowledge considering he’s almost 250 years old

  • Has the capability to be warm, most people just won’t ever see that

  • He’s gotten pretty good with a cutlass

Weaknesses

  • Imposter syndrome. He no longer thinks he’s good at being a leader (even though he’s first mate for a reason, he is absolutely good at his job) and is terrified of screwing things up and getting everyone killed whenever he has to take charge.

  • Greedy

  • Lots and lots of emotional repression

  • Using his magic will actually just kill him (or leave him near death at the very least)

  • I’d also imagine silver makes him really really sick considering he is of inherently magical origin and it’s pretty much eating that all up

  • Still isn’t as used to moving in this form as a normal human would be, particularly his hand eye coordination is pretty crappy.

  • Incredibly picky eater, there’s very few non-meat foods that he tolerates

  • Has a hard time getting close to people. There’s really just a few people he would regard as his friends. (although he absolutely cherishes them) He only tolerates everyone else.

Background

Celestine once belonged to a powerful Clan of dragons, illustrious and feared throughout the mighty kingdom he had been born in. He was their darling, the cunning leader of their soldiers. His parents were fixed at the head of the Clan, making him basically the closest thing to dragon royalty. He was slated to have a political marriage to the daughter of another Clan’s leader in a union of the two Clans, which was not an idea he was thrilled about but he wasn’t necessarily against either if it meant he could get higher up in dragon society. He had really high expectations put on him, his Clan expected him to one day become a leader. He was seen as a beacon of light of sorts, they thought he would one day rid their kingdom of all the horrors and monsters that had been plaguing them for the past millennia. He caved under these expectations and went out with a group of his sharpest fighters, which ended in them all getting killed, and him being struck out of the sky by the creature that had caused it all.

Perhaps it was out of pity that the creature did not kill him too, or perhaps it just wanted to inflict him with a more cruel and unusual punishment. Celestine awoke aboard a fishing ship, his wound patched up and…no longer a dragon. At least, for the most part. He retained some draconic features, but most uncomfortably for him, he now lacked wings. His access to the sky had been completely cut off, like a fish without gills. It was a feeling almost like dysphoria. He threatened that fishing crew into taking him back to his kingdom, where he dragged himself back home in shame. His Clan cast him out for his failure and his weaker form, but Celestine would not let himself sink into despair. Despair was not a very proactive emotion, and even then he remained someone governed by mind over matter. He snuck aboard a merchant’s ship and left for the first port they arrived at, changing his name to Celestine Starcatcher. For a little while he did odd jobs, he had no issue with sinking into some criminal activity as long as the reward glittered enough.

Then he caught wind of The White Tide, a ship that had set its sights on glory and treasure, both things highly favoured by dragons, and especially favoured by Celestine in his current predicament. The most enticing of all however, was the artifact said to cure any ailment, and lift any curse. He joined up with them without hesitation, eventually becoming surprisingly good at his job and rising to where he is today.

Extra!

  • He likes to call people by their full names unless he’s angry at someone (if which he’ll call them by their last name only) or if he’s really close to them (then he’ll call them by their first name)

  • He has like…loose Icarus inspirations so do with that what you will

  • Lassie is his favourite chicken and he’ll sometimes carry her around like a lapdog

  • He’s been aboard the ship for six years

Rejected - in this universe, winged fae are small creatures about the size of a fist. The Orb undoes ailments and curses, not amputations and other problems outside of disease and magic. Additionally, some of your descriptions seem a bit too modern for the time period, as well as being a bit uncomfortable to read on the appearance section.

Name

Ariadne (Ari) Savile

Age

36

Gender

Female (She/Her)

Species

Naga

Sexuality

Undefined

Rank

Cook

Reputation

Both on and off the ship, Ariadne is very friendly and well liked. She’s able to make friends basically everywhere she goes. She’s known to be very reliable on the ship, always doing her job, and doing it well. She constantly makes sure that nobody is dying from malnutrition, and what more could you ask from the cook?

Motivation

She doesn’t actually have any real reason to pursue the treasure. She’s basically just along for the ride.

Appearance

Picrew

Ariadne is significantly larger than many humanoids, her entire body being around 12’ in total. Typically, she ‘stands’ at about 5’8”. She is very muscular as a result of her lifestyle, being used to the heavy lifting that being a pirate requires. Her thick dark brown and gray hair reaches her waist, typically held back using a small steel clasp. Occasionally she will have it braided by one of the other crew members, typically Gore. Her hair is typically smooth and soft, as a result of constant brushing.

Her features are very soft, her face being very round in shape. Her eyes are a dull gold, and her pupils are narrow slits, similar to a snake’s. The inside of her mouth is a pale white, with hints of reds and purples, and her tongue is thin and forked.. She has long fangs in place of canines, and the rest of her yellowed teeth are slightly smaller than the average person’s. She has lots of acne, red dots spotting her face and shoulders. In the corners of her eyes she has slight crows feet, and very faint smile lines run from her nose to the corners of her lips. Her skin is a warm honey color, and she has a few beauty marks on her face. Notably, two directly below her lips, appearing similar to snake bite piercings, and one on her cheek below her left eye.

Her lower body is replaced by a very large snake tail. Her tail is a very dark brown, almost black, with barely noticeable darker stripes. In terms of clothing, she is typically seen wearing a simple white shirt that’s beginning to yellow, with a beige apron. With how much time she spends cooking, she doesn’t see much need to take her apron off. She does also have a coat which she can occasionally be seen in, mainly during storms or if she gets particularly cold. She wears lots of jewelry, notably facial piercings. She has multiple eyebrow, lobe, septum, and helix piercings, all of them being small silver hoops. She also wears a few rings, both being simple gold bands, one having a scale-pattern engraved into the surface.

Personality

Calm | Curious | Inarticulate | Stubborn | Confident | Jovial | Optimistic | Daft | Extroverted

Ariadne is incredibly friendly, being your typical extrovert. She loves talking to people, especially when they tell her interesting stories about their lives. She’s curious to a fault and always wants to learn more, especially about those around her. She’s probably hassled the entire crew to learn their entire life story throughout her entire time on The White Tide. She can be a good shoulder to cry on, though she doesn’t offer the best advice for any issues. She’s much better at listening than she is at comforting. Her words are often full of baseless optimism, even when situations can literally not go worse, she insists that everything will be fine eventually. How will it be fine? She has no clue, but it will!

She absolutely loves learning new things, and reading, despite being a bit of a struggle for her, is one of her favorite activities. She is a bit embarrassed by her struggles grasping Common, so she often goes to her closest friends in order to help if neither of them are doing anything important. She gets a bit frustrated by her broken speech, struggling when she can’t properly express her thoughts to others. It’s not uncommon for her to need to pause in the middle of a sentence to try and figure out what words to use in order to make even the slightest bit of sense.

Despite how friendly she is, Ariadne holds grudges like no other. If her first impression of someone is negative, it’s extraordinarily difficult to get her to view you in a positive light. She’s incredibly stubborn, very rarely compromising on her views when they’re challenged. Considering how she’s not exactly the brightest, this can lead to arguments where she’s absolutely wrong, but absolutely will not acknowledge that fact. It can cause some resentment, even between her closest friends, though she doesn’t hang onto any anger towards them for long. She loves her friends, why would she let a silly argument get between them? Though she won’t have the same attitude towards those she dislikes, letting the bitterness build up as more reasons to justify her hating them.

Likes
  • Cooking + Food

  • Stars and Constellations

  • Fishing

  • Rain

  • Reading (She is bad at reading but she loves it still)

Dislikes
  • Fighting/Violence

  • Bugs (She is terrified of them)

  • Intense storms

  • Cold

  • Booze

Strengths

Venomous - Ariadne has venom glands which produce a potent venom that she can utilize in fights.

Endearing - Very charismatic and likable, she’s quick to make friends everywhere she goes.

Stealthy - It’s not rare for Ari to seemingly appear behind you out of nowhere. She’s extremely quiet when she moves, though it’s not like she ever uses it to her advantage.

Weaknesses

Cowardly - Ariadne is terrified of physical conflict, and isn’t capable at all in battle.

Spiteful - Despite how friendly she is, she’s very bitter toward those she feels have committed great slights against her. It can cause her judgement to be clouded at times.

Poor Decisions - Yeah, she’s definitely not known for her smarts. If you listen to any of her plans and decide to go along with them, you’re as much of an idiot as she is.

Limited Mobility - She can’t move as fast as people with legs, simple as that. She also can’t jump, instead having to precisely maneuver herself using her tail to try and reach whatever she needs to climb onto.

Background

Ariadne’s childhood was extremely simple, being raised in an extremely small village in a swamp by her mother. Her life was peaceful and uneventful, though once she became an adult her mother insisted that she leave the village. Experience the outside world, have fun, meet new people, that sort of stuff. Ari listened to her mom and left, moving from city to city as the years passed, never feeling drawn to stay in one place. Eventually she found a job that she liked well enough, being a cook for a wealthy noble, where she was paid handsomely. She enjoyed the work and was able to afford all of the jewelry she wears. After a few years, the monotony of the job began to wear on her psyche, and she left. She wasn’t able to interact with others much through her work, the equivalent of torture for her.

She continued her nomadic lifestyle, particularly focusing on port towns and large cities. The people there always had such interesting stories to tell! One day when she was in a tavern she met someone who proclaimed to be the captain of a great vessel, and she was immediately intrigued. The life of a sailor sounded interesting, not to mention the amount of people she’d be able to meet. What could she lose by asking to join their crew?

That was about 10 years ago, and she’s been happily traveling on The White Tide ever since. She became friends with the crew quite quickly, and she’s been having a great time. Sailing the seas is the perfect life for her, with the calm moments a respite from the excitement.

Trivia
  • Sticks out tongue when she concentrates really hard on something.

  • Horrible handwriting.

  • Always has snacks on her. Will just pull out some dried fruit or salted meat if you say you’re hungry around her. Maybe she could offer you a nice egg in these trying times.

  • She’s often very cold. Accepting donations of body heat, thank you.

  • Almost always carries her knife with her. It’s just a very simple dagger, nothing special. She always makes sure it’s extremely sharp, like most chefs.

  • Keraunophobia (Fear of thunder)

  • Has an accent that’s mainly just Slavic but now with 100% more drawing out the ‘s’ sounds in words “Drink ssssoup, good for body. Keepssss healthy.”

  • Speaks broken Common because it is not her first language. She has a very basic understanding of it and often has to stop in the middle of sentences to think of the correct word to use.

  • Her venom causes pain, swelling, discoloration, weakness, fatigue, difficulty breathing, nausea, decreased blood pressure, and has strong proteolytic activity that can lead to severe tissue destruction.

  • She sheds her fangs every few months, and it takes about two weeks for them to regrow.

  • Hands down, has the weirdest sleeping positions. She will be like tied up in knots, face pressed into the floor, arms splayed out to her sides. It does not look comfortable.

  • Needs glasses, but vehemently denies it. She just thinks everyone sees as shittily as she does. She's extremely nearsighted.

  • She can do the snake thing where they flick their tongue out of their mouth to smell. Extremely good sense of smell. She may not see you coming but she can absolutely smell you. Go shower, you stink.
  • She has protanopia color blindness (can't see the color red) However, she is able to see UV light so she can see quite well in the dark.

Species

Elf-Arachne

Sexuality

Pansexual Aromantic

Rank

First Mate of the Solana

Reputation

His appearance is enough to terrify most people. Not only because spiders are a common phobia, but because it’s proof he’s angered the Gods. Only the most heinous acts are punished with mutation, so it leaves most to wonder just what he did.

Motivation

He’s supposed to want to get the treasure back into the hands of the royal family, but honestly? He’s more excited about fighting those damned pirates.

Yeah he could use the artifact to reverse his curse, but why would he want that? He’s rather fond of his new body.

Appearance

From the waist up, Urian mostly appears to be a normal elf. He has very large scars running across his chest and back, from the many fights he’s been in over the years. His arms are also covered in what appear to be burns, all four of them. Along with the extra set of arms, he developed a second set of pectoral muscles directly under his original ones. Both pairs function as normal arms with no issues. His torso is noticeably slightly longer than a normal elf’s, being about 5 inches longer than it was before his curse. Along with his second pair of arms, he also developed a second pair of shoulder blades and another clavicle. He has a few more ribs than normal and his sternum is slightly larger than average.

His face is very sharp and his ears are extremely large and pointed. He has eight rusty-brown eyes with dark scleras, two being normal sized and not abnormal in their placement on his face, with three significantly smaller eyes forming a semi-circles under each of them, though they aren’t visible very often as most of the time he is wearing a blindfold which covers all his eyes. Over his disfigured mouth he has two fleshy mandibles, which causes him some slight difficulty when it comes to eating like a normal person. The mandibles are made out of his normal skin, and poking out of them he has two long fangs, three inches in length. In each of his earlobes, he wears a single small gold hoop earring.

His lower body is that of an Australian funnel-web spider. His abdomen is rather small, similar to the real life males of the species, with six extremely long legs branching from it. His lower body is a very dark brown, almost black in color. His underbelly has a bit of an orange tint to it, and his legs slowly fade to a slightly paler, less saturated brown. His entire lower body is covered with a hard and shiny carapace, which is smooth to the touch. His legs are sparsely covered in very small hairs.

His appearance changes drastically over the course of a few months, coinciding with his molting cycle. Soon after molting, his skin is sickly pale, just like it was before he was cursed. As time passes, his skin slowly darkens to a similar dark color as his carapace, and takes on a similar hardness and texture. His teeth also darken as well, lightening when he finally molts.

Nowadays, he is almost exclusively seen in his Navy uniform. It is fairly simple, a navy colored jacket with many gold buttons lining the front. He wears the jacket over a simple white blouse, slightly yellowed from its continuous use. He typically wears a blindfold made of the same material as his jacket.

He also has a black silk blindfold, though he wears it mainly when he’s out of uniform.

Personality

Impatient | Fierce | Persistent | Dutiful | Proud | Cruel | Impulsive | Mischievous | Sloppy | Dumb as rocks

Urian is a lot of things, but being quiet is not one of them. He can usually be found yelling and ranting about one thing or another, as best as he can anyway, it’s a bit hard for him to speak around his mandibles. He’s constantly boasting about his achievements or bragging about how cool all his abilities are. He can walk on the ceiling! (Please ignore the fact he gets sick if he does it for more than five minutes, he doesn’t bring this up.) He’s extremely proud of his abilities and very often will get into arguments with others about who’s cooler/more powerful/stealthier/etc. He very rarely shuts up, really only being quiet when he’s sleeping, and even then he snores like a chainsaw.

Despite how proud he is, he’s actually pretty good at his job. To an extent at least. If he were to truly take over for the captain or quartermaster, he almost certainly would be focused on making decisions that were best for him. There’d be a mutiny after a day. He absolutely clings to all the power that he has, desperately trying to convince himself that he could totally handle running the ship if he needed to. He won’t do anything to make it happen, but if it does, he feels 100% prepared. He’s extremely bossy and will yell at you if he perceives even the slightest amount of sass from someone that isn’t his superior.

Having Urian in a fight is both a blessing and a curse. His ability to sense others through vibrations? Great! Can’t hide from him if he doesn’t need to see you. His inability to wait for five seconds, even if said waiting will prevent him from getting a limb cut off? Well… He’s very fond of his two cutlasses, obsessively sharpening them outside of battle to make sure their edges can cut through anything. The one time he actually enjoys the quiet is when he’s tending to his weapons. He keeps a lot of hardstone in his quarters, as well as a smaller hunk on him at all times.

Despite how much he insists, he is an idiot. Massive idiot. Granted, he’s not dumb, he’s just not smart. He’s very knowledgeable when it comes to things like history, math, etc, he’s just not good at making decisions. His ideas are often genuinely insane and completely impossible to pull off. He is locked out of the room during planning battle tactics or other plotting, much to his chagrin.

Being cursed has actually become a big part of his identity. He’s genuinely happy with his new form, and gets upset whenever others insinuate that they could use the artifact to return him back to his normal self.

Likes

  • Sparring with his friends

Dislikes

Strengths

Regenerating Limbs - Urian molts a few times a year, and with these molts he’s able to regrow any limbs that may have been cut off. Though this does come at the cost of a lot of his energy and he has lots of scars from the magic it requires. Not to mention it only happens every few months

Venomous - He is able to produce a deadly venom from his large fangs.

Maneuverability - He can climb on walls and the ceiling. Simple as that.

High pain tolerance - His curse has caused him to not feel as much pain as normal people. He gets his arm cut off? ‘Tis but a flesh wound.

Blindsight - You know blindsight from D&D where creatures can sense vibrations and shit? Yeah he has that.

Weaknesses

Impatient - Bro cannot wait more than five minutes for something to happen. He needs it to happen NOW or he is raising hell.

Reckless - Tying in with his impatience, he doesn’t always think about the consequences of his actions before he actually does them. This has led to Urian having lots of battle scars, and also getting multiple limbs cut off throughout his life.

Stiff joints - As he gets closer to molting, it gets more and more difficult to move his body because of his skin hardening. This can cause him to be less capable in battle and he also needs to use more energy in order to actually move.

Missing limbs - Yeah, he won’t die from having his limbs cut off, but he potentially has to live for months with no arms/legs. With how reckless he is, chances are he’s struggling by the time he’s ready to molt.

Proud - Admitting he’s wrong is something he finds near impossible. Only if he’s confronted by those he considers as having more power than him or those he respects greatly is when he actually considers his actions may have not been the best. He’s one to double and triple down as many times as he feels necessary in order to convince himself he’s right. You won’t get anywhere in an argument with him.

Bad eyesight - His eyes are almost useless. He can’t see that well out of them, and his vision can’t be fixed with glasses. He can get disoriented without his blindfold pretty easily, and bright lights distract him greatly.

Background

Uhhh i dont know. I’ll come up with how he got cursed later but later is not now <3

Trivia

  • He eats like a spider. Basically regurgitates digestive enzymes into his food in order to drink it like a soup since his fangs get in the way of him being able to put large bits of food in his mouth and he doesn’t have the patience to cut it up. He absolutely hates doing this but he refuses to do anything about it.

  • “Early symptoms of systemic envenomation include goose bumps, sweating, tingling around the mouth and tongue, twitching (initially facial and intercostal), salivation, watery eyes, elevated heart rate, and elevated blood pressure. As systemic envenomation progresses, symptoms include nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath (caused by airway obstruction), agitation, confusion, writhing, grimacing, muscle spasms, pulmonary oedema (of neurogenic or hypertensive origin), metabolic acidosis, and extreme hypertension. The final stages of severe envenomation include dilation of the pupils (often fixed), uncontrolled generalised muscle twitching, unconsciousness, elevated intracranial pressure, and death. Death generally is a result of progressive hypotension or possibly elevated intracranial pressure consequent on cerebral oedema.” Thank you Wikipedia, I am not typing all that out myself.

  • Venom is most effective on humans and other human-esque races (like elves and dwarves.) Hybrid and animalistic races are less affected by envenomation, though it’s still not good for them. Whether or not they die is kinda a coin flip.

  • He doesn’t have eyelids anymore, and he misses them.

  • He uses the ropes on the ship like a web kinda.

Kai'zenanriah Fitz

· · ───────· 𖥸· ─────── · ·

Nicknames: Kai'zen, Kai

Age: 28 years old

Gender: Male

Species: Elf

Sexuality: Bisexual

Rank: Sailor

· · ─────── · 𖥸· ─────── · ·

Reputation:

The White Tide - Kai'zen is quite the whirlwind on deck, always up to something or another. He enjoys company so is rarely found all by himself, even if that means squeezing his way into conversations he was not previously a part of. When it comes to getting things done though, he's your man; he's quick to respond to orders and not to mention a pretty good person to have on hand in combat. It truly depends on your own constitution - some can find him a little much while others love him for his carefree personality.

General Public - He's a radiant young Elf with a grinning smile, so again opinions tend to be 50/50. He hasn't got much of a personal reputation (Kai'zen was pretty quick to board the White Tide upon leaving home, and since then hasn't made too much of a mess anywhere to garner too much attention) but opinions on Elves are widely split anyway. His reputation back home is a whole other story, and not a good one at that.

Motivation:

Does he have crazy fantasies of returning home as the triumphant hero who succeeded in stealing back the royal’s missing artifact? Yeah, maybe. Is he also well aware that that would be the last thing he'd be doing if he managed to get his hands on one of the most powerful treasures in the known world? Obviously. Realistically, he'd probably just sail around seeing if it has unlimited curse-curing usage or not, but it depends on what the rest of the crew is planning to do. He'd much rather stick with them than go and play pretend hero. (The potential limit on how many curses it could provide does make him very curious too, to be fair.)

· · ───────· 𖥸· ─────── · ·

Appearance:

Have a 'brief' description while I try to hype myself up to write~

Quite handsome, even by elvish standards. Fairly flawless face besides a light scattering of freckles all across his cheeks and nose; a small scar on his lower lip. 5'10'', energetic appearance. Sun-tanned goldenish skintone. His ears are pointed, but are fairly small and not much bigger than human's (still about twice the size, but whatever). His hair is an ashen blonde and reaches his shoulders - he plaits two bits at the side and make a ponytail at the back. Keeps cleeeeean. He's fairly muscled - adept at flexibility and balence, and swordfighting! (He trained as a kid) He's not the strongest nor fastest, but not bad by human standards. Very expressive with gestures and his facial expressions which usually cycle between smug, cheerful grin and a confused smile. Rarely not smiling. Pretty oceany-blue/green eyes the colour of a calm sea and long lashes. Very clean appearance by pirate standards (he's got a minor hygiene thing). Large scars on his back, some smaller scars on his knees, elbows and arms. MASSIVE lover of hats. He steals so many hats he's had to start returning them/giving some away. Always wearing a cool pirate hat. Usually has a toolbelt with loads of random stuff in little pockets (lockpicking kit ect) also has his cutlass attached. Hates using pistols so doesn't bother with them (they jam on him every flipping time) and he's better with a blade anyway.

Personality:

Kai’zenanriah is first and foremost a being of whimsy. It's hard to tell at times whether this is an Elven trait or something more unique to him, as it tends to creep up on you all of a sudden just how wild-spirited and fae-like he is. One minute he seems near enough human, fiddling with some new carving or his tool belt while he's relaxing in some shady corner of the ship - then the next he's balencing from the rigging telling some Elvish story of old with sparkling eyes and waving hands. Ever a man of duality, his enjoyment of adventure is perfectly entwined with his wild love of storytelling. Although, while he truely experiences some strange things in his travels, he still prefers to make some of his stories up as he goes. They're a lot more fun when they're spontaneous after all. (And unlimited creativity is where he really shines.) Similarly, his free-spirited nature is quite the obvious trait as soon as you meet him: he's always up to do things, no matter how reckless some of those suggestions are.

This recklessness applies to most things in his life. Most of the time he has very little regard for his own safety, and so charges in headfirst with no consideration of a plan nor the possible consequences. It's interesting how he is more likely to follow those who aren't too keen on him, or downright dislike him instead of those who do genuinely care for him. He has a slight... innate need to be liked (or at the very least tolerated if liking him is impossible) which drives him into some pretty stupid situations that rarely solve the initial problem of people's distaste towords him anyway. Thankfully he's otherwise fairly tough emotionally, so if he's ever insulted (rather than ignored or looked upon with distane) he'll only take a moment to bounce right back. If he'll feeling childish enough he might throw some insults back at them.

Arguably it's another elven thing, but Kai'zen is so ruthlessly honest to the point where it seems he cannot lie. The - perhaps unfortunate - truth is he could if he wanted to (and fairly decently, if his charming tone and appearance has anything to say about it) but he just refuses to as he simply cannot understand the point of lying, decieving or otherwise telling the full, genuine truth to those he considers allies or friends. As the result he can sound incredibly blunt, sugarcoating absolutely nothing he says and often exposing other people's little day-to-day white lies in the process. In his mind, secrets make very little sense, expecially if they're something that wouldn't result in a massive fallout (secrets in warfare are obviously a different deal). That said, while he isn't great with respective the less serious secrets of people's lives, he does acknowledge and respect people's requirement for personal space. His obliviousness over some people's need for secrets really lies with his own unwillingness to keep any (a sort of 'if I don't keep any, why would anyone else need to?' mentality) and so it can seem like he's not holding back at all when he's asking questions. He is trying, he's just not great at managing how much he should be holding back.

Kai'zenanriah's lack of clear boundaries can be a bit... much at first. While he's collectedly charming to begin with, within a few days (or an intensely boring couple of minutes) he looses his ability to supress his curiosity and gets to asking all the questions he's had pinned up in his head. For a lot of people, these might be quite personal questions (though not intentionally) and almost feel like an interrigation but he will quickly back off if he figures he's being too much. The last thing he wants is for them to find him annoying... but they often find this barrage of questions irritating anyway. Kai'zenanriah tries to supress anything he thinks is too invasive, and he certainly doesn't press on questions either - this Elf has the sense to know that if someone's not quick to share then they'll prefer to share at their own pace, or even not at all. This kind of child-like questioning is - when you think about it - a testament to how intrigued Kai'zen is about the new people he meets, and a representation of just how eager he is to find out more about them. So it's a compliament really. Even if it doesn't exactly feel like one.

Anyway, once he's calmed down a tad Kai'zen comes across that chill and easygoing figure once again. Despite his outgoing and energetic nature, he does his best to get along with everyone including more shy people who might otherwise not get along well with him when he is excitable. With these people, he'll probably settle down with a little project of his own - grabbing something from his belt to fiddle with - accompanying them in quiet so as to spend time together in their way rather than his. He hasn't met anyone he hasn't been curious about one way or another, so will adapt himself so that he can learn about them and their individual journeys; sometimes Kai'zen even weaves parts of these into the stories he tells, though the rewritten version is rarely identical to the true story. Whoever he's around though, he always remains a go-with-the-flow type who allows the ocean and wind (or whatever external forces) to take charge of whatever course he turns out to be sailing.

With his combination of willingness to throw himself headfirst into new things and his restless creative energy, Kai’zen has the ability to quickly pick up lots of small skills and hobbies. Sometimes he even watches his crew-mates from afar as they create things, curiously trying to figure it out and memorise the process. It works out for him only about half of the time, so occasionally he'll have to go over and ask for the steps required to complete whatever he was producing. This is usually accompanied by some embarassment - not about his snooping though, as one might expect (this is Kai'zen after all) - due to his replica or mimicry being a bit terrible in quality, in comparison to the original. He may not be a full-blown perfectionist, but there are little noticible traits here and there. What has a tendancy to get annoying though is how often he'll return to revisit the series of steps of whatever he is trying to learn, particulary irritating if he has invited himself onto their free or personal time. It's not like he's trying to bother them (excessively) though; the issue moreso lies with his difficulties in taking things more than one step/thing at a time. Yell at him to go do a task, and he's on it quick as a bolt of lightning... but give him a list and he'll be as slow as a slug. Kai'zen is a fairly intelligent guy, but managing multiple things at a time is a big no. It simply overloads him far too much. One at a time lets him do things quicker and with far better quality.

Overall though he's quite a jack of all trades. Though his memory tends to be scatterbrained (there's a lot of internal monologue to wade through, in his defense) he can recall a lot of useful information on the fly. It helps he was well-educated as a child too, though he doesn't like talking about those dull topics at length; usually he'll offer 'quick summaries or nothing at all!' And, when it comes to his more valuable skills, it's also speedy or bust: he knows how to lockpick but he's quickly giving in if nothing's budging how it should - though this is not some kind of acceptance of defeat, and rather an understanding of his abilities. He knows himself and the things he's worked on 'perfecting' well enough to know when it's just not going to work out. Newer things thankfully are a different matter. He truely is down to try anything (minus most new foods, because no) and has picked up a few more skills in the process of trying anything and everything that crosses his path: most notibly being able to play the fiddle semi-decently, some scary blade-work skills (although that is more to the credit of his schooling) and his current favourite thing - storytelling.

The last thing that ought to be mentioned is his stuggles in taking certain situations seriously, when he doesn't feel the need to. Though not apathetic like some of his relatives, he does have issues with empathy and putting himself in the minds of those he interacts with. It's a little hard to do, especially if he doesn't know them well (not to mention whatever secrets they have). He can be very compassionate though, so he's not a completely heartless monster. On the other hand, he is good at making light of tricky situations, his humour easily adapting to those he's with. When things get reallly serious though - like, your life is in danger serious - he desperately needs guidance on what to do. Leave him without clear commands and he finally exhibits visible and genuine distress, even having to retreat to calm himself alone. For the most part he keeps a cool head, but even he has a breaking point.

Background:

Kai'zen has been with the crew around 6 years now, nearing 7. He doesn't bring up much of it on his own terms, partially because it's hazy, and mostly because he left it behind for a reason. Though, if people begin to ask him about his past or his scars he won't hesitate to tell them. Kai'zen doesn't see any good reason to conceal things from people he's known long enough.

If he was asked something about his time before the White Tide he would answer something like this, "I grew up in a village on the northern shores of the Ivory Sea, raised with - or rather by - my six older siblings and my parents. We were middle-lower class so all us children were expected to do well in our schooling and graduate to take some job in the navy or something along those lines. A futile attempt to raise our social status. Anyway I didn't like that idea very much, so I left home as soon as I could and wandered off to the nearest dock, stole a small boat and tried to find some other thing to do. I'd heard a lot of gossip about pirates in our waters recently so I thought why not? Somehow I got lucky and ended up on the White Tide, and somehow even luckier everyone's kept me around for this long."

This is rather a short story coming from Kai'zen. Though he won't hesitate to divulge if he is pressed to. He doesn't keep anything secret... Rather doesn't go into detail when he doesn't see a reason to.

Other:

- He's a horrifically picky eater. If his food looks or smells too weird he'll straight up refuse to eat it.

- He loves to use nicknames for people.

-Kai'zen stole his last name from a drunk guy at the dock. He had tried six other people prior, but they kept saying surnames he didn't like the sound of. (Why were there so many Smiths??)

-Really not too keen on magic users. While he finds individuals with innate/biological magical abilities (Sirens, for example) the good scary, he finds people like witches are more of the bad scary.

-He follows with the pirate hierarchy a little more than your average pirate. Usually that's because he needs someone else to yell at him what to do in a pinch, though

-Kai'zen is very fussy when it comes to hygiene - both his and the ships. He'll be one of the first to get to scrubbing the decks if they've got icky things on them, armed with nothing but a mop, a bucket and a desire (for a goddamned clean ship is that too much to ask for?!)

it's stuck on the wrong font I'm so sad. Also may have got carried away (I did not need to write that much whoops)

Sonora’Mara
“The Pleasant Sound of the Bitter Sea”

Alias:

Maiden of the Depths

Age:

“It is hard to keep track of time under the waves. No more than… a century or so I suppose.”

176

Gender:

Female

Species:

Siren

Specifically of the Cecaelia variant

Sexuality:

Heterosexual

Rank:

Sailor

Desired Rank:

She may have her eyes on a higher position. And she isn’t afraid to play dirty to get it.

Reputation:

“My, it would appear that my reputation exceeds me~”

A legend to be told. A beast to be feared. Really, there are few who do not know of her alias – especially of those from the Elven kingdom. However, virtually no one has been able to put a face to her name. She would like to keep it that way.

To the crew, this “legend” is more human than most would assume her to be. She is less of a vile savage and more of an… incredibly sinister yet loyal ally. Not one most would choose as their company, if one was being honest, but absolutely someone to be respected while “on the job.” Her mannerism can be quite the unnerving display, with her acting as the cat and the other being a little mouse. Though unsettling, she has been known to hold a good conversation – able to talk for hours in a manner most perceived impossible for someone so murderous.

Motivation:

Easy. She hates elves. Anything to keep it out of their bloodstained grimey hands, really. She has no use for the wealth otherwise, though a piece of jewelry or two would be nice. Perhaps some additions to her old hoard? She’s really not that picky. The others can keep their silly little, curse-breaking Orb. She has no use for it.

Appearance:

Sonora’Mara’s upper body is a stark contrast to the person others believe her to be – a beauty for someone thought to be oh-so monstrous. Its form takes on a humanoid figure, having the general shape of most female humans and elves as most sirens do. Its formation is quite feminine with clear-cut exemplifications on raw power. A height of 5’4” is what it reaches, starting from the waist and going to the very top of her head. This is typically the elevation most see when around her, but it is not the maximum measurement she can hold. Her muscles are prominent and well defined, centering mostly around her arms and stomach regions. Those of her midsection are notably more noticeable than those of her arms (though not by any extremes), presenting a strong configuration of abs. Feminine curves are present along the sides of her body which are only exemplified by her rock-solid core. An upright posture is held by her upper body, tough and hard to break. It screams the feeling of superiority, as though she were directly saying the words “I am above you, mortal” aloud. Shoulders straight if not slanted slightly back, head straight and tilted up, it almost feels like that of a stuck-up noblewomen. Sun-kissed skin travels all across her form, having tanned from its pale hue over the years working with the crew. It is oddly smooth, possessing an almost glossy attraction to it – like the scales or skin of fish and molluscs. To the touch it can almost be described as soft or slick (particularly when she is wet), with some going so far as to claim she has no bones underneath it all. When dried out, it comes off as much more human-like in looks and quality. The most mystical aspect of it all comes from its capability to change texture and color at will, conforming to the environment around her for the ultimate camouflage. As one would expect, this ability is not effective while she is wet. However, she is not incapable when performing it whilst dry. If she does so under these condition, she may run the rest of forming cracks in her own skin which she cannot camouflage. A multitude of scars runs across this skin, all pale compared to the surface they mark. Small and large, thin and wide, most of these “blemishes” seem to come from her days living in and around ocean trenches. Combat induced of course, ranging from stories of the more stubborn small-fries to the humongous beasts she shared the waters with. But there is one that seems to indicate something else. The light-toned shape of a wave is present on her right shoulder, unnatural and obviously… “put” there by something else. Its existence is no coincidence of battle wounds just-so happening to line up accordingly being much too detailed for that. Few if any know of its origins, with the only ones that possibly could being elven fold. Questions will not shed a shred of light onto it, for she never responds to the curious inquiries about it.

Abilities:

Siren Song

The natural ability of all siren folk. It is a well known power, that of their voice. An alluring spectacle following the tune of the many sea-shanties and other works she’s heard over the years, imbued with magic to make it all the more entrancing. Humanoid beings are naturally drawn to its beauty, acting as though it were some heavenly bird call that they just cannot ignore. More aquatic creatures such as mermaids and leviathans, are more resilient to its effects. While they may still feel the pull to investigate the origins of the music, they are not drawn to it like a human or elf would be. In other words, they are not hypnotized, just intrigued. This particular method of hypnosis is used only when Sonora’Mara wishes to forgo the element of surprise, sinking her hold into the minds of all those nearby. However, she cannot command them to do her bidding. All this song does is set their attention onto her, where she can lead them to the water’s edge. The effects fade the second she stops singing or when her prey enters the water. If other noises interrupt the singing, then too will her control shatter. Ear coverings can diminish the effects of this song, though it entirely depends on the quality of their substance. Despite its power, this ability is rarely used to relinquish the life of others. Instead, she prefers to simply toy with the crew – emitting her mystical melodies at random intervals just to play with their heads. She will neither confirm or deny the possibility that it can be used to turn another.

Alluring Lights

The much more dangerous and unpredictable hypnotic power of this cecaelia. A silent killer. This skill consists of the rapid changing of colors along her tentacles, used to entrance those who find their gaze upon them. At first, there are a few little lights here and there, scattered about the water. Blue here, purple there, the odd glimmer of green. Nothing too meaningful or concerning, just a way to catch the initial attention of whatever unlucky victim she chooses. From here the lights only grow, going from a few flashes to a full blow display of shimmering and shifting lights – completely hypnotizing the onlooker. The closer and faster they are, the more effective this is. The trance will break the second she makes physical contact with the foe, dragging them beneath the waves usually before they can react. Unless the being comes from deep underneath the waves, they cannot resist this particular hypnotic power. Still, those who manage to close their eyes before the full effect of the color-shifting and do not look at her tentacles will be safe. In a way, this is just like the hypnotic ability of the cuttlefish, but to a much more vibrant degree. As before, she cannot command anything from anyone. This only catches their attention.

Heightened Mimicry

A simplistic capability, really. In a manner similar to all manner of octopi and those like the, Mara can change both the color and the texture of her skin and tentacles. This highly improves her stealth, allowing her to get much closer than one would think possible. If she plays her cards right, of course. This mimicry works best when underwater where her body stays moist, but it is possible to use it on land. If she is too dried out, she cannot perform this ability.

Strengths:

+ Intelligent

+ Physical Strength

+ Stealth

+ Keeping Secrets

+ Tentacles

+ Hand-to-Hand Combat

Weaknesses:

- Stamina

- High Metabolism

- Durability of her Tentacles

- Lack of Moisture

- Ear Coverings

- Hypnotic Limitations

Backstory:

The origins of Sonora’Mara are shrouded in shadows of myth and mystery, a part of history lost to time itself. Her very existence has long since been nothing more than a sailor’s tale, telling of a maiden once of pure heart being cast out to watery depths of the sea. It is said that the waters and its inhabitants took pity on the poor soul, transforming her into a being fueled by hatred and vengeance – stalking the deepest trenches of the ocean just waiting for the next ship to pass on by. It was a warning to navy and pirates alike. A call to avoid those black-souled waters she was believed to roam. The Maiden of the Depths was her title, a malevolent and feared eight-armed beast whose only goal was to sink every ship that dared tread through her waters. Wreck stacked upon wreck, forming piles along the floor of her domain. Their insignias showed of mostly Elven descent but were not void of others.

⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆

Truly, they say, it was as though the Elven people were the fuel to her fiery wrath. The catalyst to her very presence within the ocean she roamed and the ships she trashed. If one were to have an elf on their ship, they should expect their ship to sink or be vacant by the morning. Her methods of doing so were practically unknown to those that came across her, save for the standard siren song she undoubtedly possesses. Very seldom were the times where one survived her “hunting.” Over the course of hours if not days, one by one she’d lure off crew – hypnotizing them with her flashy lights, only to pull them swiftly into the depths below. Her attacks mostly came at dusk and lasted through the night, the darkened waters being the perfect camouflage for her large form. Those alone on top of the deck were the first to go, standard cleaners or workers in general. The more muscular men and women were usually her targets if at all possible to reach. Next came the pilot who she tended simply to sneak up behind rather than hypnotize – covering his or her mouth before slinking back into the tides below. What is left of these vessels after this completely depends on their location. Oftentimes, they end up being shipwrecks – her having taken control of the helm and “course corrected” them towards jagged rocks or an older wreck that lined the shallower parts of her waters. Others, she will leave it abandoned. A ghost ship left to follow the currents and sail aimlessly without a crew. Some say that one can still hear the cries of all those who sank with their vessels during the nightly hours.

⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆

The siren’s meeting with this particular crew followed the latter’s formation of steps. She stumbled upon this rag-tag crew some years ago – five if she can recall correctly – as she traveled the waters that confined her dwelling. She had just “dispatched” another unlucky crew of elven folk when she spotted them – the empty and ghostly boat sailing past them on the ocean current. It was unknown to her what brought the strange beings to this area. Perhaps it was her singing? Maybe they simply held disbelief in the stories of her prowess? In either case, to say she was intrigued at the looks of the crew would be an understatement. The odd mix-match of sailors being something she hadn’t really seen before. So, she spared them… but not without giving the a little scare~

⋆༺𓆩☠︎︎𓆪༻⋆

No one is quite sure what spurred her to join those few days later rather than deal them the same hand as many others. Some may say she was charmed by one of their people. Others that she was merely curious and wished to partake. And the rest believing her to be exacting some sort of scheme. No matter the reasoning, few are willing to take her mercy for granted.

Name

Morwenna Maristela Carpenter

Age

24

Gender

Female

Species

Human (Witch) and Nereid (Sea Nymph)

Sexuality

Bisexual

Rank

Sailor

Reputation

White Tide: The girl that came with unique scarring that is shaped like waves. In the beginning she was feral and wild like the rogue waves that strike the ship. She has become more relaxed and peaceful. Her peaceful manner is usually singing songs and dancing on the deck. Her connection to the ocean is unique and bizarre for others.

Public: A girl now a woman with a massive bounty on her head. She killed multiple humans for the sake of her coven that was massacred for their illegal activities. She earned the name “Siren of Vengeance” for her rampage against humans from 15 till she fell into the lap of the White Tides at 18.

Motivation

A desire that she hopes will heal her scarring and make her human side, her greatest weakness dormant. Though she doubts it will happen, she keeps her hopes and dreams to herself.

Appearance

Morwenna has an enchanting and desirable appearance to most. Her side of the sea nymph as they are breathtakingly beautiful to gaze at from others. Her hourglass figure is usually hidden by her raggedy dress that has colors of light blue and golden trim on the bottom of the dress that is ripped and damp from the water. Her height is on the smaller side of being 5’0 and sometimes that she can be 5’1 on a good day. Her weight is 120 pounds now as she has finally been able to be fed and not scavenge for food to survive.

Her hair is memorable to admire that many are curious to look at. Her long and curly blonde hair that can either be tame or wild, that cascades down her back ending above her waist shimmering like golden seaweed. Her skin that is soft at the touch with a sun-tanned touch to it that shimmered warm, bronzed hue to it. Her body and face are dotted with freckles that resemble the constellations in the sky. Her eyes are a sea green or blue in certain lights that can be murky looking or bright as can be from. An ethereal beauty with a touch of wildness, and her presence and stature is formidable and enchanting with a touch of unpredictability.

Her stature and how she carries herself is relaxed with a walk to it. She does not walk like she is above others. She does not walk like she has something to hide. She flows with her surroundings and just is able to walk as she has no problems in the world. Her big smile or smirk often displayed on her face showed her pearly whites.

Her scars are from using her powers without using rituals or some magic power source. As it only has happened one time in her life from her rampage of vengeance and wrath. Her skin that is sun-tanned and dotted with freckles down her arms are wavelike patterns that go from her shoulder to her wrist. Her hands are covered with the wave patterns that are layered from the top of her hands to her fingertips. The sides of her face have faded etching of wave patterns that have not finished their course over her face. Most of her skin, especially on her face, is now a white color that is prominent and shines out from her tan skin tone. The uniqueness of wave patterns are all different from the first scar that was made, each have a different design or look to them if someone studies it. Her scarring is from her not being a full human. She would have been dead from the power that was used on that day, but instead it has scarred her once beautiful skin to waves. Her sea nymph side saved her life and chose scarring on her body.

Her attire is limited for her size and her way of having to be scarce with humankind. Her dress that she wore from being 15 through being 24 is the only item of clothing she wears. She has trauma bonded with that dress and would literally kill someone if they throw it away to give her new clothing. Morwenna being from the deserted island has never known shoes, and yes on the White Tide she does not wear shoes. She prefers that way of life not being bound by shoes to hide her feet and toes (Dogs out all day everyday). She has a beautiful necklace or talisman that holds her coven's ashes of their remains that helps her perform spells and part of rituals.

Her voice is often heard as rich and seductive to others to hear. Light and breathy at times or cold and lethal aiming for damage to others. Her voice screams power and can soothe a baby’s cry. A voice that can send others to a downward spiral.

An ethereal beauty that belongs to the sea. The sea’s child that has blessed the human realm as herself, but will be overlooked from her wild nature and others’ jealousy.

Personality

Unpredictable | Depth | Resilient | Powerful | Nurturing | Eternal | Fearless

A force of nature that carries deep into the veins of Morwenna. A deep wildness of her mind that can spark with a light. Her stoic calmness that is freaky and memorizing from her body relaxed and mind at peace, that can turn into a deep hatred or wildlife within a second. A scary image from her that others display is her swings of emotion to be her cheerful self to feral demon that reeks of wrath and vengeance. A woman like her holds grudges til the grave from small petty reasons or reasons that hurt her for no reason. Morwenna is at the point where she has begun meditating to keep her mind from venturing into a tsunamis type of way of hate and wrath. As now her emotions will be displayed as lighthearted and cheery, but it will only take one thing to spark the woman. Morwenna is the type of woman to always get even or go lower that depends on the situation she is in. She is not afraid to be cold and lethal to others that deserve it, and finds content with it. Modwenna that has been turned into angry has venomous and cut throat insults that would widen eyes. She does not see mercy or guilt for the damage that she may cause on people’s egos or lives.

Her adaptability and resilience are her great qualities of survival. She is like a little cockroach that always escapes death by a hair. She is willing to play in the hands of death and find the narrow chance of survival. Call it stupid or luck, but she has a will and she will find a way. She has a way to endure so much and keep it to herself. Her resilience is able to keep her emotions out to execute the hard decisions that she may have to face in the future.

She is just overall powerful. In a way that can just not mean demand to bow and treat her as royalty. A way that she is not afraid to throw down and win. She knows that within herself, though she would not hurt a fly if it means that her friend would have to suffer. She knows her abilities can be dangerous to herself and others, she will use it only if she believes it morally right. She is just overall powerful and has a dangerous aura about her that others just know not to mess with.

A nurturing and soft touch about her that is welcoming and gentle to others. A way that she has never been a mother, but will be the motherly person to any thing that is human or an animal. A way of comforting others and guiding them under her wing. She keeps them close, and would wreak havoc on the ones that cross them. A deep motherly love that she welcomes new crewmates that come after with big arms and are often joyful of their choice to join.

A saddened heart with a smile on her face to trick others of the waves of grief and wrath that clouds her eyes. Her home “Deizoma Island” has been ransacked and massacred other than her and a few others. Her family and her culture, once beautiful and full of life, is now silent and nothing but fairytale or nightmare depending on who speaks about it. Morwenna has never truly let her mind grieve about the loss and it is often in the back of her mind. She hides it with her cheerful mood and playful acts of songs and dancing on the White Tide as if nothing bad ever has happened.

A rhythmic and reflecting personality to be able to contemplate her emotions and thoughts before she acts impulsively and becomes a wild cannon. Her actions and words are flowy and more often known as proper in her calmness and cold state. Her wild side is more of her accent that comes out that is illiterate and has little to no grammar to it.

Background

Morwenna’s mother was nereid and her father a sailor/human that fell in love to have Modwenna. The hybrid… Morwenna’s mother Natsiya had brought her to the Deizoma Island where the desert coven away from humans to practice their illegal witchcraft peacefully and quietly. Her father had died at sea, an ex practicing witch from the Deizoma Nami Coven, before Morwenna was born into the world. Though Morwenna never knew that her mother was a nereid, just thought she was a practicing witch until the day she died. Morwenna was brought to practice the magic of the Deizoma Nami coven that practiced with tons of magic. Their ways of being peaceful and teaching the youth. Morwenna often looked after the younger children and taught them with small spells and the history of Deizoma Nami coven. The coven that practcing magic on the side, but was a strong village that lived on the ocean and enjoying the island. Her power of controlling the ocean was shown at the age of 14. Though she was warned by her mother and her peers to never use it without a ritual or some other safety net for her to use.

The day of The Deizoma Nami had fallen. The day was normal, the ocean was peaceful. Then the night had come. The day the humans came with torches and swords to slay the accused. Morwenna at the ripe age of 15 was telling the bed-time stories to the children, until she smelled the fires. Her mother was saving the elderly until she was struck down with silver and lit with flames. Though she could not do a thing, but children that she had to protect. She silently sneaked those children to a hiding hole to only fail at the process. That’s when Morwenna had finally spiraled out of control. She had two abilities that did not need rituals for witchcraft. Ocean bending and telekinesis. She one by one murdered the humans through water and blood. This earned her scarring on her body. She continued until she was left standing with one more human, though she did not kill him. She sent him on his to be a messenger for what she had done. She earned the name “Siren of Vengeance” with the massive bounty on her head dead or alive.

She was alone looking after herself from age 15-18. She had been hunting humans that were connected to her coven’s murder. She was savage and feral that she stayed away from society as long as possible. She stayed by the water and only did rituals for when she needed magic to wreak chaos. She stumbled upon the White Tide at 18, still feral and full of wrath. She was stealing food from them. A mistake on her part and a mistake for theirs for attacking the young feral girl. She fought hard with her powers until she fell into a two week long coma. She was promised their protection from humans looking for her, but she had to stay with the White Tide for their protection from other’s with her abilities.

She has been rolling with the pirate crew for 6 years.

WIP!!!!! WIP!!!!!!
Name: Graham Fletcher
Age: 27 years. Fishfolk have shorter lives than humans by about 30 years so he's roughly middle aged methinks
Gender: Male
Species: Fishfolk/Human Hybrid
Sexuality: Homosexual
Rank: Sailor
Reputation: He's largely seen as grouchy and easily irritated but doggedly loyal to the ship while also maintaining an emotional distance from most of its crew. On land...he doesn't really go on land much except for nights of drinking at shady ports where no one bats an eye at his coverings.
Motivation: He thinks it'll fix his gills. In his religion, those born without functional gills are the result of being cursed to lack them by their god. The Orb supposedly cures all curses and aliments which would fix him...right?
(Art creds to me)

Appearance: Rugged, gnarled, seaworthy. Graham dresses like the stereotypical pirate plus a few more layers. Shirt, trousers, and all sorts of coverings. Off color stockings, tight brown pants as to not catch on anything, and a looser, flowing tan shirt make up the first layer. Then comes the multiple jackets, thankfully not too unusual for the time period however Graham still manages to make them look odd. And finally thin flexible shoes that appear quite old and worn. At 5'6, Graham is one of the shorter inhabitants on board the White Tide, height gifted to him by his fishfolk heritage. Other things brought to him by that particular gene pool include webbed hands and feet, nonfunctional gills, malformed lungs, a tendency to burn and peel in the sun faster than normal, as well as a partially mutated face and grayish blue skin patches all over his body. Graham's eyes are vastly different, one side belonging to the human spectrum, all sunken and sharp edged with thick eyelashes and pale brown eyes that almost seem washed out, while the other side is distinctly fishfolk, yellow eye bulging out from a blue rim and surrounded by colorful vein-esque structures. His hair is thick and choppy, frizzing up and falling to roughly below shoulder length. His body type is lean but more muscular around the upper arms and shoulders as well as his thighs and calves. His hair covers the bulging fish eye and the surrounding fishy area.

CYNRIC WEISS

- age -

37

- rank -

Captain

- gender -

Non-binary | They/Them

- sexuality -

Bisexual

- species -

Human, with nymph ancestry

- reputation -

On board : Cynric is seen as a little neurotic, incredibly lucky, and overall, a trustworthy pal. They’ll get themselves into strange situations, but everyone knows they can always rely on Cynric to pull them out of dirt and back into water. They can be a little ditzy at times, but their shipmates put good faith into them as a captain, and a friend. Trust their word, and you’ll be sailing smooth and eating well for as long as you know it.

On land : Cynric is more of a ghost on land—little is known about them, but they are known regardless. Through their previous adventures in youth, they flitted through the lands and didn’t stop to talk much to the residents. They’d hitch a ride on the trains that only hosted coal and iron, and spoke little to no words to the hitchhikers that caught the transit with them. Their face is known, but their name is not.

- motivation -

Cynric has no other motivations for being a pirate captain, either than this is where life took them. Through adventuring and exploring the world, they stumbled upon sea life, and realized how much more… open the world seemed when you weren’t grounded. When it feels like there is infinitely as much space as there is above you, to what is below you, you begin to feel a lot more free. Cynric loves the sea life because of this reason, and has no other intentions besides to explore what the unexplored has to give them and their shipmates.

- personality -

Cynric is off-beat, neurotic, ballsy, but a damn fine shipmate. They’ll find themselves concealed in their own anxiety sometimes, but take their moments to cool down and make the next best course of action. They aren’t very expressive with how they’re feeling at the moment, but you’ll notice it through the little stutters that appear randomly in their speech. Cynric always seems to have a great new idea, making little out of what they have, even through their worries. They implore their fellow shipmates to trust them through it all, and they’ll always prove themself trustworthy. Working on an honor-based system, you’ll always have their word, guaranteed.

As off-beat as they may seem, they make an effort to lend an ear to their ship family and spend special time with each of them individually. Cynric feels as if they never have the right words to say to people (or even words at all), but they’ll prove their bonds by spending quality time. Whether it be calculating the stars next to one another, or bringing a shipmate their bowl of stew, they truly care for another. They show their appreciation through acts of service and quality time, more likely to show you how to whittle a wooden figurine of your favorite animal, than to make it on their own time and gift it to you later.

Mentoring others is something Cynric excels in—though they won’t have the words for everyday small talk, they certainly have bright and clear explanations on how certain things can be done. Whether it be ship-work, cooking, or minor crafts, Cynric is always there to proudly teach others. They have little wisdom and advice on the world to share, but they’ll teach you tips and tricks to get through the world that doesn’t rely on talking your way out of things. Caught by the navy guard? Don’t sweet-talk your way out of it, Cynric will show you how to secretly cut a rope to their mast from afar and divert their attention, all the while you’re making your way out of what could’ve been a grueling situation.

Cynric’s humor is deadpan, yet you’ll notice the only time they’ll lilt their voice is when they’re laughing and cracking jokes. They have a tendency to loving haze others; teaching you how to properly patch the hole in the forecastle while sweetly “joking” if you break the flooring again, they’ll plug it up with your dislocated finger next time. They are a serious perious, but blanket that urgence with a soft voice.

- appearance -

Cynric is tanned from days long at sea, with few darkened moles that dot their face and arms. Freckles appear when the days become longer. Their hair is a rich red-brown color, appearing bronze in sunlight. The length is short and choppy, from inexperienced shipmates trying to give Cynric the ideal buzzcut they want, without the tools to do so. Whenever they stop by on land, they get their hair cleaned up and evened out. Most of the time, it’s uneven in spots, but if it’s short, that’s really all Cynric cares about.

Cynric stands at a sturdy 5’8. They are not scrawny nor lean—they are muscular. Defined arms and chest, and tense muscles in their shoulders. They have little to no fat since they are rarely calorie dense meals on the water, which also results in some minor fatigue for them from time to time. They make sure to eat a lot to keep up with their intense work-load daily, but a lot is never enough for this one.

They have wrinkled hands from working in the sun, and from some old scars that happened in their youth. Their face is the same, with some wrinkles around their brown eyes and creases above their eyebrows. Their healthy lifestyle (as in just keeping a working body) has managed to keep their appearance minorly youthful compared to others their age, but not by a longshot.

Cynric dresses in airy clothing, particularly shirts that have had the sleeves torn off, or made from thin fabrics. They repurpose all their clothes and haven’t bought any new pieces in years, altering the clothes to something more breathable anytime they get ripped. What clothes were once white, are now a sea-washed algae green. Their pants are baggy and aerated also, usually also a light-washed brown color.

- likes -

Tabletop games : Cynric loves board games, but not just any. They specialize in chess, checkers, Snakes and Ladders, and Dominoes. Their favorite game of all time, however, is Go. They’re pretty ruthless with it, too.

Cioppino : Cynric’s favorite food of all time is cioppino. It’s kinda fitting, considering they live on the water. Anytime the ship cook asks for requests for dinner, it’s always what Cynric asks for.

Stretching : It’s a weird thing to like, but not unconventional. Cynric always does their morning stretches. When stressed, they pull their neck to one side and to the other, then their arms, then rotate their wrists. It’s a calming coping mechanism for them.

- dislikes -

Mountains & forests : Dense areas make Cynric anxious. They love the open water because it’s so spacious and freeing, and to be hidden under trees or in rock gulleys is one of their biggest fears. They sometimes have nightmares about being lost in a forest.

Bugs : Cynric finds very few bugs acceptable, maybe a butterfly or an inchworm every now and then. They despise most bugs, especially flies. Anytime a fly appears on board, their main duty at that point is to eradicate it.

Alcohol : Cynric doesn’t truly hate alcohol, just makes a point to stay away from it. They notice anytime they indulge, they go off the deep end of drunkenness. Their tolerance is… extremely low.

- strengths -

Quick thinking : Cynric can come up with any plan on the spot. Their mind works in step-by-step plans, compared to others’ who’ll think in fleeting or randomized thoughts. Everything is a 1, 2, 3 point plot to Cynric. Not only does this trait allow for great thinking on their feet, it allows them to keep productive every day.

Level-headedness : Cynric does an awfully great job of remaining level-headed… or appearing so. To say they’re not always anxious is a complete lie, but they sure are at least great at keeping their composure. You’ll rarely catch them freaking out, or even cussing.

Resourceful : Cynric can make something out of nothing. They are sometimes acquitted as a “hoarder” by their ship-mates for keeping miscellaneous junk on ship, but to them, that rusted gear and old paint chips could make a great last-ditch-effort flint & steel.

- weaknesses -

Controlling : Cynric tries to understand their crewmates have their own way of doing things, but when things aren’t done their own specific way, they aggressively bite their tongue to not correct them on the ways they should obviously be doing it. They try to set up regimented plans for everyone each day, but of course, not everyone is going to want to participate like they’re a dead-eyed worker.

Impatient : Cynric can’t stand to sit by and idly watch. Even if the situation’s dangerous, they must jump in. They hate to wait, and especially hate to lose, which makes for a serious combination sometimes.

Luddite : Not exactly a weakness, but can be when there’s better ways to go about things, except when Cynric completely refuses on the basis of hating technology. Not just technology, but newer things in general. They find technology to be unreliable, and newer ways of doing things (ie: new way to tie sails) to never be as good as the original. They’ll begrudgingly try, however, and that might open them up to new ways. Rarely.

- background -

Cynric used to be a nomad. Traveling the lands aimlessly, in search of more memories than gold or work. Their family isn’t the same—still stationed in a generational cobble house in the middle of some unnamed countryside. Their mother, father, and two older sisters were all quite similar in personality to Cynric. Quiet, thoughtful, but most importantly—keenly resourceful. Whenever the winters came and the ground froze, Cynric’s father would notice cold breezes in their little home. They never went out to town to buy something to patch the walls, they went outside and shoveled the frozen dirt to pack into the holes, and remove the soil once summer came.

They studied miscellaneous things in books long retired from libraries, from which Cynric picked up navigating by stars, and basic ship knowledge. Only a very few of these books were fiction, one of which was Moby Dick, which turned up to be Cynric’s favorite book. They read the book front to back, each page studied, and once 17, took off from the home to complete their own adventures.

When on land, Cynric sends sweet letters back to their family. Because of their lifestyle on water, they never receive any back. It’s been two decades, and whether or not they still live at that house, or even live, is something they won’t know until they return.

Cynric wrapped up their nomadic adventures around age 26. Their inability to make money eventually humbled them, when one night they’d drank too much at the tavern, and retired to the cobbled streets to walk and find an inn to stay. Sheriffs stopped them and fined them for public intoxication, to which Cynric had not a penny left. This realization that their youth spent frolicking instead of caring could not always support them, so they left to the coast in hope to find work. They did, and joined the navy temporarily.

Cynric liked the navy… at first. The duties, the chores, all of it felt so responsible to Cynric, which is something they’ve never really felt before. Their life was spent without many responsibilities, and to start anew felt almost religious. As the days drew on, and the few times they were actually allowed to depart at sea, Cynric realized that this was all too repetitive. Same day, every day, with an occasional pulling over of a pirate ship or protecting governmental ships. They grew to hate it.

They took notice of an infamous pirate ship that always seemed to linger ‘round popular trading areas. Stepping in to snatch up their gold and goods, then seemed to vanish without a trace by the time the navy arrived there to step in.

Cynric devised their own plan to leave this boring life, and broke their own hand, thus discharging them from any indefinite activity until healed. Leaving the ship, Cynric wandered into the loading dock for these trade ships, and waited for what felt like days until the ships arrived, and so did the pirates.

The rest of the story is blurry to Cynric, but they remember negotiating their way onto ship, intermingling with their new mates, and slowly going up the ranks over an 11 year process. The rest is history.
