I guess so. I've been reading Warrior Cats since I was probably..9/10? Something like that. That and my mum is very into horror so I'd probably watched some stuff by then. Everyone's different haha

Talen, in saying all that. I do think it is very strange that the film was sort of child targeted with its adverts/marketing. The author used to tell the stories to his kids so I think that's why, but again written/spoken word vs visuals I suppose

I think the film is probably more disturbing because you /see/ the violence. Personally, I think there are more disturbing things in i.e. Warrior Cats, but because it's written words it's not as confronting?

Tornadoes are uncommon in the hilly, forested territory of the Queen Creek pack. Unfortunately, they are not unheard of, and one of unusual size has wreaked havoc across the lands before dissipating. Now there are pale gray skies and cool rains, but the summer's bounty has been ripped away along with the Queen Creek pack's home.

Trees are broken, ground has been turned over, and many wolves and prey alike perished. A second pack, the Hollow Marsh pack, has been displaced and is now beginning to intrude on Queen Creek territory. Will a truce be struck? Will these wolves risk open war after such a horrific experience? Will the aftermath just be the beginning of their struggles?

The Pack Ranks (Same for Both)

lll

Alphas: One male and one female, this bonded pair is in charge of the general safety and wellbeing of the pack. They are the decision makers, the judges, and the excecutioners. Their word is law, and it is a rank for whom the successor is named by the previous alphas. It is not necessary for there to be a mated pair; however, it is expected that the new alpha will take a mate if he or she does not already have one. The alphas usually head patrols.

Betas: The second mated pair in the pack, they are in charge of organization as directed by the alphas. One or both will usually lead hunts. They answer to the alphas and, occasionally, the Healer. If a beta does not have a mate, they will be expected to take one. However, on rare occasion, there will be two betas that are not mates.

Healer: This is the wolf that is most in touch with the ancestors, and they are often a skilled healer. Male or female, the Healer is usually an older, more experienced animal who takes many different apprentices, only one of which will actually succeed them. They are allowed to have offspring and a mate.

Regular Members: These are the bulk of the pack. They hunt, fight, patrol, and do whatever else needs to be done. They include mothers and elders, though the latter have few to no duties once they have earned the unofficial ranks.

Apprentices: These are wolves between 8 months and 1.5 years old. There will only be one or two Healer apprentices at a time. They are not assigned specific mentors, excluding Healer apprentices, and are basically just learning how to care for the pack.

Pups: Young under 8 months old.

Omega: The least useful wolf. This can fluctuate.

lll

Other Ranks

lll

Rogue: Either alone or in a group, a rogue is a semi-settled wolf with a territory of their own; they just don't live in a pack.

Loner: A nomadic wolf.

RP Rules

lll

Hate the character, not the player. No OOC drama will be tolerated.

AT LEAST 200 words per RP response per character. This means that if you play three characters, you will be writing 600+ words altogether. 100+ with writers' block, but this should not be constant for every single post.

5 characters max for now. Try to keep genders equal-ish. This number may change later.

No all-powerful characters. Keep sizes, colors, and abilities realistic. Maximum of two color-defect wolves TOTAL.

Reservations for high ranks (alphas, betas) last 48 hours. You will not receive a reminder to finish them. This may be extended if I am made aware beforehand.

Only use images that are properly cited and are able to be used here. An image does not replace an appearance description.

Appearance and personality will show your literacy. If you do not meet the requirements, you will not be accepted. High Ranks will require an RP sample. PM or post.

More may be added.

lll

Pack Rules

lll

Apprentices are not allowed out of the camp without at least one other wolf of any rank, excluding pup.

Killing or harming a healer or pup will result in the same being done to the offender; if not killed, they will still be exiled.

Betas are expected to lead when the alphas are not present; if the alphas die, the betas will take over.

After a new alpha is chosen or succeeds to the leadership rank, wolves have one month to fight for the position. If they succeed, the month starts over. If an alpha outlasts the month, they can no longer be challenged.

As prey is scarce, wolves cannot eat on hunt or patrol and must bring all viable food back to the pack.

Pregnant or nursing mothers eat first, then high ranks down to Omega.

Omega is not known by their given name and it should not be used unless they jump ranks.

Chase out or kill all invaders. Do not bring them back to camp, ever.

Name: Chinook
Age:
5 Years
Gender:
Male
Pack: Queen Creek
Rank:
Alphachinook.jpgCredits to Wincey (1st) and Tiefenschaerfe (2nd) on DA. Same user, same wolf.

Chinook is a very handsome male. He stands at 34 inches and is in the middle of the weight spectrum for his height. His body is well-toned and his strength is evident in the way he moves. However, his appearance is deceptively kind. Intelligent, reddish-brown eyes are set in a well-proportioned face rimmed by soft, thick fur. His dense coat seems to groom itself, always looking sleek and touchable.

This male is the opposite of touchable.

Underneath his pelt, his skin is riddled with scars, both from hunts and from fights. Most of the latter were his victories. The vast majority. His most notable scar is a once-deep gash across his chest and lower throat, given to him by a wolf he loathed -- and killed. Chinook refuses to speak about this wolf, and few know the story.

Chinook's coloring is warmer scale. His base is a terracotta of sorts with honey highlights and cream undertones. Patches of deeper brown and black congregate to frame his eyes, cover his forehead, sweep across his back and tail, and form a triangle at the nape of his neck. His undersides are a darker cream in color with hints of orange to it.

The larger spots of fur around his temples and above his eyebrows turn into a black M shape, which extends along his neck and to his shoulders before more color enters the scene again. The bridge of his nose is a golden brown, as are the sides of his cheeks, and this melts into an off-white muzzle and cheekbones.

Chinook always has a sort of passive look to him. Calm, relaxed, but ready. His languid movements can tense up at any time, his smooth tone can turn to jagged ice, his relaxed figure can stand tall and sturdy and domineering. This brute is death personified, and oh boy does death look hot.

Personality:

Chinook is not one to take ranking lightly. He bends to those above him and observes those at his own level with constant, ever-watching eyes. He is loyal to his alpha, his beta, and his pack. Those who prove traitorous get no respect from him.

He is a quiet kind of scary; a soft whisper will freeze blood, a bark will break bones, a growled word will instill fear. A look could kill. Chinook holds respect in high regard; if a wolf, or dog, does not have his or another's, he looks down on them. He is not a kind creature; his drive is survival, and Mother Nature is not kind. The weak will die off, and he will be more than happy to help them along.

Now, he is not an evil animal. He is altruistic towards his packmates, and he does not play around with things he should not be involved in. He follows the rules, crosses all his "t"s, dots his "i"s. Actually, he can be quite a charismatic individual. However, this is only in the case of others in his immediate close circle -- his pack.

Chinook is a fighter; he has the scars to prove it, and he does not intend to succumb to another animal any time soon. He is fueled by adrenaline. It keeps him alert, keeps him on target. He is not one to get antsy by the feeling; rather, it has an eerily calming effect on him that seems to only enhance his prowess.

Larkspur is lighter in her coloration. Tawny, amber, and honey tones make up her coat with the occasional dark streak making an appearance. Her fur is rather short but thick and soft, providing ample warmth and fewer gobs of hair floating around. Her scruff is thick and gives her a semblance of a short mane along the back of her neck, down to the ends of her shoulders.

Her eyes are a piercing yellow, made to stand out even more by the darker "wings" on the corners. They often appear to hold no emotion and can easily be described as unsettling. Her left eye hosts a scar just above it at a slight angle and another continuation on her lower eyelid. It was not a deep enough scratch to cause any sight issues. Her body carries a few other scars scattered about her body with a few deeper ones on her left shoulder from a hunt gone sour. Most of the marks are small enough or have faded enough to become nearly invisible.

Larkspur has a lean, well-muscled frame and stands at 30 inches. Everything about her is long and slender, though she is still quite strong. However, she was definitely built with more agility in mind than brute strength and is considerably lighter than many wolves her height. She was blessed with good stamina and speed; her movements are quick and precise, which makes her an excellent hunter and scout.

Personality

She is a force to be reckoned with. Direct, goal oriented, and ambitious, Larkspur is always up for a challenge. While she is respectful of those around her, it was never a secret that she wanted to climb the ranks. To her, though, it was simply a matter of survival of the fittest. She would not dream of overthrowing a good leader; rather, she would want to succeed them. In her mind, there is no point to breaking apart a well-oiled machine.

Larkspur comes across as curt and calculating, but her loyalty to the pack is undoubted. Her plots are made strictly by the rules, her wiles courteous, her moves refined. She is an upstanding member of society, thank you very much. Her playing fair does not make her weak, however, nor does it mean she will hesitate to end a life. After hunting and fighting as an adult member of the pack, death has simply become another reality of life to her. Whether it is a wolf or a doe that has died, it does not matter. Dust to dust, after all.

Larkspur is not one to take a job lightly, and she expects all those around her to be equally invested in their role within the pack. Questions of loyalty frustrate her. She is adamant that, if pack members cannot trust each other and work together, they will go extinct. She holds her temper well and will attempt to talk down a conflict before whupping everyone's hinies, and she tries to be as mature and logical as possible.

With speedy speed and nice lungs, she is able to keep up with larger prey for several minutes before tiring. She is a team player and works best in a cohesive group with a shared goal, and she has a forceful maternal drive and cares deeply about her packmates, even if she sucks at showing it. Leadership comes naturally. As she is a lighter wolf, she requires the assistance of two or so heavier wolves to bring down large prey -- brute force is not on her side. In the defensive, she has to rely more heavily on her knowledge of her surroundings and agility.

Larkspur loves being in control: in control of her life, of a hunt, of decisions. It doesn't matter. She wants a say, and she wants to be respected. Disrespect, disloyalty, and disfunction are the most infuriating things to her. Being talked down to, ignored, or cast aside have relatively strong impacts on how she views a wolf.

Pack: Queen Creek

natan.jpg

Credits to Wincey on DA

Natan is a relatively tall wolf, standing at 32 inches and weighing in around the average margin. He is built without extreme muscling or litheness. His physique is strong but nimble, average yet able. He is not weak in any sense -- he is just a jack of all trades and a master of none. Natan knows this.

His thick pelt is a medley of caramels, soft earth tones, deep browns, slate grays, and charcoal blacks etched into patterns across his body. The redder colors are focused along the bridge of his snout, his ears, and his throat. Tanner hues mix with honeys and creams to form a much lighter base coat, and these take up the majority of his fur. Browns, grays, and blacks provide smooth slashes across the sides of his body and around his face. His inner ears are an off-white, a little lighter than the fur of his cheeks and legs.

Natan is not exceptionally scarred. The war wounds that he does carry are hidden beneath his coat for the most part. He does have a gradual curve of a smile-shaped scar underneath one of his golden-orange eyes. A nicked ear is most easily noticed -- really, he looks relatively untouched, though he has had his fair share of experience.

Personality

Natan is an irritatingly calm wolf. His smooth voice, well-formulated thoughts, and clear manner of speech can be frustrating when another wolf is trying to argue with him. He is great at taking everything in stride and throwing back his retaliations with dignity and amusement. He gets angry, yes, but it is an internal rage. His outward appearance rarely deviates from its smooth, collected state unless he is really -- really -- furious.

Natan is smart, and he is tricky. His words are riddles at times, lies laced with truths or truths with important details left out. He will say what benefits him and his causes, and nothing else. His mind is one of a more reasonable creature. He will not jump to conclusions or violence, nor will he be immediately accepting or trusting. He is always one step ahead, one move closer to winning than any opponent.

His loyalty belongs to his pack. He has no family, extended or immediate, and his friends are... well... nonexistent? He only associates with his pack and has no need for "friends." The title of "packmate" means much more to him than that of "friend." Their needs come before his own or any other creature's.

For beneficial qualities, he has a few. He brings rational thought to the table. Natan works cohesively with a team but also fares quite well on his own. He is a capable hunter, tracker, and fighter. He is loyal. His lack of preferential treatment towards any specific wolf allows for all to be under his watchful eye, whether they appreciate it or not. Natan is altruistic, and he is somewhat empathetic. It really depends on the situation.
