In the fantastical realm of Aragara, a mystical land of unknowns, a dreary little town, nestled between two forests, resides. A large mountain range looms to the North, but what the sleepy little town is known for are the two very different forests on either side of it. One is known as the Enchanted Forest, a beautiful and vibrant place promising life and laughter, all things joy. On the other, though, is the Haunted Wood, a dark and terrifying place beholding mysteries and adventurous tales of horror and fear. They beckon the residents of the town, calling to them, but by now the residents are used to the dangers of the Haunted Wood and the allure of the Enchanted Forest. This is home.

This Rp is aimed to be a Long-term, Character Driven Rp that centers around the Characters we create and the lives they live. There isn’t currently any big underlying plot, but that isn’t to say one cannot be created over time. The possibilities are endless! Create your own story, and help feed those of others. Watch as each choice leads your characters down winding paths and treacherous twists. Where will all their stories go? Who knows. But it sure would be fun to tag along for the ride, right?

The Rules for This Roleplay

1. This is Designed to be a Long-Term Rp. Replies Might Take Longer, So Please Don’t Just Ghost.
2. Please be as detailed as possible with your characters, since each individual won’t have a lot, I would like us to put a lot of time and effort into developing a character for the Rp. Posts for the Rp do not have to be as long/detailed, but forms I’d like to see a fair amount of effort on.
3. Anything is possible. As long as it is balanced, and not OP. Have fun. Do what you will.
4. You MUST Make 3 Affiliations for your Character with Other Characters who Aren't Yours. They must be included in the Characters’ Forms. You can have affiliations between your own characters, but they do not count towards the Three.
5. Maximum 4 Characters Total; with a Max of 2 for Each Type. So 2 Residents and 2 Companions at Most. I will not be making exceptions.




General Information to Keep in Mind

Aragara is the name of the overall realm; which to simplify things will simply be like the ‘country’ they are in, as we might explore more of it, but I'm unsure if we will go beyond that.

The town in which this Rp will at least start in will be Mirstone. There is absolutely a chance of the Rp venturing further out, but for starting purposes that is where we shall be.

All of the characters are residents of Mirstone, and will live within the town or the surrounding areas so that they can travel there and back on foot in the same day.

Any type of creature/species are allowed. You could have a simple human, or something more complex and mythical. Or something that isn’t remotely human-like at all. My only conditions are that it cannot be Rp, so it must be balanced with weakness, etc. I don’t care if it’s your own unique species, it must be balanced. If I think something is OP I will let you know and expect it to be fixed.

For Mirstone, you can have families who are more like High Class or Nobles, etc. However, for this Rp I do not plan on allowing things like Queen/King, Princesses/Prince, etc. I Might allow things like a runaway princess/prince, or something, but of a far off area, and they would have no power/jurisdiction in Mirstone. I may consider altering this if we all agree to it.

This is more based in Medieval times, so horse drawn carriages, no telephones, electricity, etc. I might be more lax on clothing, because it’s fantasy, but it won’t be like today’s society.









For This Rp
Characters are divided into Two Different Categories: Humanoids & Creatures

Humanoids/Residents: Are all characters who have a more human-like or human-esque appearance. They don’t have to be human, but they have human-like qualities. I honestly don’t know how to explain it so I’m just gonna give examples. EX: Elves, Dwarves, Drow, Nekomata, Shifters, Druid, Fae, Ghosts, etc.
Also, you can take a species that would normally be classified as a Creature, and give them a human-oid form and that would allow it to be classified as a Humanoid, and this would be their Primary Form.. EX: Kitsune with a Human-like form, Shifters, etc. Will be referred to as Residents.

Creatures/Companions: These are the characters who are more like animals. They can still have intelligence and sentience, and can speak to the humanoids, but they are Feral Formed. Or they can just be normal animals, even of the mythical variety. Examples could include: Dragons, Mounts, Unicorn, Pegasus, Gryphon, etc. Will be Referred to as Companions.


The Key difference, obviously, is the Humanoids [Residents] have a primary form that is Human-Like but may also possess a Feral Form, whereas the Creatures [Companions] only have feral forms.

Imari herself doesn't really have her own reputation, preferring to keep a rather unnoticed and unseen existence. However, her species, the Drow, have a very nefarious reputation. Feared or hated, and sometimes both, on sight, when a Drow is received it's hardly ever in a positive manner. Known to be volatile and malicious, Drow are known as Dark Elves because of their temperaments and their lifestyle and not just for the difference in appearance from normal elves. Due to this, Imari tends to be greeted with suspicious, anger, hate, or fear when people discover her identity.

Despite the Drow's heinous reputation, Imari appears to be only like her brethren in appearance. Standing at 5'9" Imari is a rather tall woman, true to her drow heritage, but with a lean and delicate physique that speaks to an innate softness to her. She isn't heavily built with muscle, and instead holds a build that allows her to excel at grace and speed, sometimes agility. She's at home running through the forest after her prey when hunting, and has become adept at stealth as well.

True in nature, Imari has rather dark skin, it's cool tone something around a medium grey-brown, like a darker taupe. Her skin tone lacks warmth, classifying it on the cold side rather than warm or neutral. She sports the standards pointy ears, long and naturally planed to the side to jut out from her head. She has a long slender neck, and a prominent, but delicate collar bone that can easily be seen when facing her front.

She has a somewhat heart shaped face with a narrow, and sharp chin, her mouth above a small, thin cupid's bow. Her nose is short, but straight, and sits below her heavily hooded eyes that are slightly narrowed in an almost almond shaped way. Her eyes are unusual, albeit not for the Drow. Black sclera background bright red optics that seem to always have a slight glow to them so they can be seen even from the shadows of her hood. Atop her head are where the snow white locks cascade down, falling down in elegant waves over her shoulders and down her back to end just above her waist.

Everything about Imari is slender and nimble, from the way she's built to the way she moves. Even dressed in loose, flowing outfits it's hard to ignore the almost instinctual grace she exists with.

Tiva began as a powerful witch all those decades ago, until grief had forced her to descend into madness. This caused her to lean into the kind of dark arts that no soul should be permitted to use.

Through a blood sacrifice, she allowed the darkness to consume her, and while her end of the deal was paid in full, it was.. not as negotiated. There are legends about the deception that fall hand-in-hand with creating a deal to allow such power. In Tiva's case, it was a trick.

It didn't take long for the dark arts to consume her, as bargained. It grew to the point of corruption and forces her to this day to roam the lands in a mutated wendigo form.

When she isn't in that form all the time, she can be seen in a lesser.. more docile form, that is, until she can no longer fight the voices.

Everything has a price, and Tiva paid hers.

Reputation:
"Beware The Witch in the Woods"


Before the darkness consumed her, Tiva was known as a peaceful witch, offering her gift and sharing tinctures and herbs. That was, however, a very long time ago.

In current times, Tiva is a mere fragment of who she once was. No version of her past self exists. Her reputation is a tainted one, and she roams the Haunted Wood when the night sky emerges and she can no longer fight the voices in her mind. Ominous, eerie, and aggressive, Tiva is not a creature that anybody wishes to come across.

Birsha is often seen before her, leading individuals so that she may feast. Unlike Birsha, within her corrupt wendigo form, she is considered hostile. Tiva has little control over her actions, and even when she does, they won't leave her alone. To feast is the only way to silence them.

Even in her docile form, it is best to avoid her.

On some nights, it is said that if you listen, Tiva's whereabouts may be identified based on her wails of pain. However, be warned. The farther away she is, the louder her screams of agony. The closer she is, well, the quieter her wails.

At that point, it's too late to run.

Tiva's docile form is her most common one, something mixed between a human and wendigo. Many years ago, prior to the curse, she was a rather elegant witch. However, in current times, Tiva is rather eerie and pitiful.

Cloaked in tattered rags, the lower layers of her attire are caked with dust and grime due to her aimless wanderings through the woods. She once cared for her appearance, but it is difficult to do so when your mind does not work properly. Despite retaining an imposing height of nearly six feet, Tiva no longer carries herself with the regal posture she once possessed in her mortal form. Instead, she is frequently observed hobbling along, accompanied by twitches and limps, relying on a large stick for support.

Encountering Tiva may lead one to doubt her human origins entirely. There is no trace of mortality in her, no semblance of humanity. The curse has transfigured her into a grotesque amalgamation, featuring a deer's neck and an elk's skull. The only remnants of her humanity are the two braids cascading from the sides of her head, entwined amidst the numerous horns. Additionally, a cruel memento from the darkness persists in the form of a series of beads adorning her neck, serving as a haunting reminder of her long-lost identity.

Cursed Form
Tiva's cursed form is something no individual should ever witness. Full of darkness, she becomes an eerie, otherworldly presence during certain nights. Towering at an unnatural height that varies depending on how much she consumes, her elongated limbs are twisted and contorted, expressing the dark curse that is bound to her. Every movement she makes is a disturbing, predatory dance that amplifies the terror she instills.

Skinny and starved in this form, rather than walking on two legs, she wanders on all fours. The most haunting aspect of this nightmarish entity is her canine features. Her skull, once elk, transitions into a canine. Empty sockets, devoid of eyes, remain dark, and long, disheveled strands of mattered fur hangs from her skull. More specifically, her head becomes Birsha's old skull, the one he had as a mortal so that she has a constant reminder of what her choices led to.

To make matters worse, atop of her head, where her braids exist in her docile form, they form into two wolf arms. Once more, this part of her has been fused with Birsha's mortal body on the day that she sacrificed him.

The tips of her horns, while still existing in her cursed wendigo form, become claws that can easily grip onto things. On the other hand, her limbs, now elongated and sinewy, resemble gnarled tree branches, with once-human hands being replaced by sharp talons that are stained with the blood of her sacrificed wolf companion.

When running into her, the air becomes dense with an unnatural cold, freezing the breath of those unfortunate enough to be nearby. When she is near, reality may seem to warp, though be warned. You will hear Tiva prior to seeing her. Often, a guttural wail emanates from her distorted, loose jaw, a sound that echoes through the Haunted Woods where the curse took place.

Birsha has been in Tiva's life since birth. He had been her companion, her familiar, as most witches have. Her defender, her protector, and most importantly, her friend. He was her closest friend, her oldest one. He had been with her the day her Phaedra and Illiad were killed, and when Tiva, so crazed with grief, wished to seek revenge, was the first to offer himself as a sacrifice so that she may find closure. Plagued by the idea of vengeance, she sacrificed Birsha to gain the power of the forbidden arts. This, however, destroyed her further, as now she truly had nobody left. However, he returned, but he was no longer himself. Rather, he was a creature trapped in a rotting body. If Tiva wasn't entirely crazed prior to the incident, seeing Birsha in such a tortured way did it. To this day, all these decades later, she still attempts to make it up to him, that is, if she can look at him for longer than a few seconds without feeling immense guilt.

It is known that Tiva lost her daughter, Phaedra, in a gruesome manner, but in her time being cursed, she seemed to have gained another. Imari was found by Tiva one day and, despite being known for her hostility, showed none to the child. Tiva had enough mortality to be able to raise her, though there were several flaws. While crazed and not all there, through the muttering and the twitching, Tiva managed to care for Imari and ensure her survival. Even in her cursed form, no harm would come to her. It is clear that she would do anything for the girl and cares for her to the best of her limited ability. There is a softspot towards Imari in Tiva's corrupt, soulless body that even the shadows cannot touch. She lost one daughter already, there would be no knowing what would occur if she lost another. To Tiva, Imari is all that she has left, and god spare anybody that harms her.

History:
Tiva's story begins in an era long past, where she thrived as a once-powerful witch. Hailing from a long lineage of witches, she was renowned for her ability to manipulate mystical forces. However, fate proved merciless when a malevolent force, envious of Tiva's power, orchestrated a sinister plot to ruin her.

One evening, that force infiltrated her home, shattering her world and murdering the life of her only child, Phaedra, and husband, Iliad. The deed was a twisted display of vengeance aimed directly at her, a searing wound meant to bleed her heart dry.

The grief that engulfed her upon their discovery was an unrelenting storm that tore at the seams of her sanity. Slowly, the desperate need for retribution clawed at her, casting aside her morality and causing her to embrace the forbidden arts. In her anguish, Tiva sought solace in the forbidden, delving into the dark arts that whispered promises of power beyond comprehension. They told her she would have it all in exchange for a toll, especially the means to avenge her family, and Tiva, in her grief-stricken madness, willingly agreed.

The ritual unfolded under the shroud of a moonless night. It was on that night that Tiva made a devastating sacrifice following the chants- her loyal wolf companion, and the only family she had left. In a moment of anguish, she took the life of her friend, severing the last remaining link to her humanity and offering him to the whispers.

Birsha, however, did not find eternal rest. The dark magic that now coursed through Tiba's veins reanimated the creature, twisting him into an undead thing that mirrored the unnatural shadow that clung to Tiva herself. And yet, the darkness was not content with her simple exchange.

The forces she bargained with were not bound by honour or fairness.

Rather, it had tricked her.

Unseen by Tiva, the voices whispered corrupted incantations, subtly altering the terms of the pact. The trickery lay in the wording of the agreement. Tiva believed she had negotiated for mastery over the dark arts in exchange for her sacrifice, but the darkness twisted the clauses in its favour. Instead of empowering her as she anticipated, the dark forces infiltrated Tiva's very essence, corrupting her soul in ways that she could not have foreseen.

The transformation was agonizing, leaving Tiva unrecognizable. She became a creature of the night, a mutated wendigo-like creature, and still, driven by a thirst for justice, Tiva used this form to hunt down the individual responsible for the massacre of her family. Yet, as the life drained from his eyes, Tiva found no solace, no closure. Revenge, it seemed, was not the answer for her shattered soul.

The dark arts refused to release their grip, even after revenge had been complete. The corruption within her continued to fester, leaving her as a creature that haunted Aragara's shadows. Haunted by the echoes of Phaedra's laughter and the warmth of Illiad's embrace, Tiva wandered the lands with her undead wolf as a companion.

The voices, even now, taunt her, constantly reminding her of the price she paid for her ill-fated pact. In every step she takes, the weight of her grief presses down upon her, a heavy burden she could never fully escape.

In the quiet moments of the night, through the woods, some may hear Tiva weep for the lives lost. It is on certain nights such as those where she hunts, for feasting is the only way to silence the whispers. It is claimed that her whereabouts may be recognized through her wails, for the louder they are, the farther she is. The closer she is, the quieter. When feasted, she reverts to a more docile form, a mere echo of her former self. Even in those moments, the darkness taunts her, whispering and threatening to unleash the creature within.

For Tiva, the price of power left behind a mere, tortured soul entangled in the web of her own choices and destined to roam the land indefinitely.

Tiva's story is renowned in Aragara, and she is forever known as the once-mighty witch who paid the ultimate price for a taste of forbidden power.. The Witch in The Woods.

All those years ago, Birsha was a canine familiar of a powerful witch, belonging to her and her family. He acted as both protector or guardian and friend, seeing her family as his own. Unfortunately, all was taken from them when his family was murdered, and his witch, his person, descended into madness, opening her arms to the darkest of forces.

Loyal to the end, Birsha faced that darkness alongside his witch, and made the ultimate sacrifice in hopes of bringing her to the peace and vengeance she desired. That's where his story
should have ended. However, after who knows how long, Birsha was returned to the world of the living, but as one of the dead. Forced to roam the lands as a monstrous, rotting version of his old self, a mere corpse of who he was.
Reputation:
Truthfully, Birsha's reputation when he was living was mild at best. Fierce and loyal to Tiva, he only posed a threat to those who trifled with her. However, nowadays Birsha's reputation is far worse than it ever was. He guards the area of the Haunted Wood around their cabin to the point that several individuals and even groups have gone missing in the territory just to never be found. Aggressive, and not the type to hear others out when they even might pose a threat, Birsha is not the one you want to find when taking a jaunt through the wood.

Of course, that is when Birsha can be bothered. Any other time? He's more than likely not going to waste the time or energy one you.

Appearance:

No longer an elegant creature of the shadow, Birsha has transformed into a vile abomination of brimstone and rot. A mere glance of the decaying canine is enough to send most running for the hills, or, at the very least, losing their stomach contents in a near by bush. He stands just a hair or two shy of 5.5 feet tall, making him monstrously sized wolf, and large enough to be used as a mount, as he often is. It's important to note that this appearance is only vaguely familiar to his original, when he was alive and in his original body, Birsha was a normal sized wolf.

From a distance he looks like a normal wolf, albeit a very large one, but still somewhat normal. It isn't until you're up close and personal with the monster that you begin to notice all the grotesqueries occuring with him. For instance, majority of his face is gone, with just the skull remaining. One eye is completely hollow aside from the flickering orange light that is reminscent of candle flame. The other eye has some flesh remaining around it, and a dark orb of black peering out from it. From his unfurred jaws comes an eerie grating sound, as the male often gnashes his teeth together. Next, one of his ears is just... gone. Completely removed from existence. Aside from his face, though, the next most noticable thing is a patch on his throat that has been ripped away, opening it up so that trachea can be seen.

He has a few other patches here and there where fur and/or skin have been gnawed away to expose the bone, organs, etc. beneath. It doesn't bother him though, as Birsha does not feel pain, he doesn't feel the rotten flesh around his soul squirming against whatever binds it together.

Birsha's fur is dark in color, the a black that resembles a void or the dark confines of an endless abyss. It has the slightest hint of dark red on it, the fur permanently stained with the blood of his victims, the black tar of his own coagulated blood mixing in with it. His coat isn't the most unpleasant thing about him, but it certainly isn't great. It's medium in length and rather thick, and could almost be considered soft. But something is decidely off about it. There's an almost greasey coating to the fur, like there's too much sebum on his skin and so it has to be contained in or on his fur. It doesn't really hold a smell, but it's noticeable, especially when touching the canine.

Lastly, as everyone probably wants to know, Birsha does have a slight... smell to him. It isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's definitely a musk that hedges on the edge of tolerable. More than likely, whatever spell brought him back and bound him to the amalgum of meat and sinew is masking the distinct scent of decay.

In terms of Vocals, Birsha has a very deep set. They're somewhere between baritone and basso, and he speaks with a dry confidence that shows just how little he cares for the opinion of others. There is a subtle rasp you can hear once and a while, a testimony to the desication of his throat, but it isn't always noticeably present.
