Posting an image

1) Choosing an image;
To start things off, you obviously need to have, buy, make or find an image.

Looking for a stock image to use in a roleplay? Or some references you can gain an insight from - *not trace?
Take a look at this guide - all about Artwork
And this guide - stock sites to avoid
One last guide - relating to heavy Referencing and tracing [Feel more than free to post any questions here you have on the matter]
Ensure you credit where the image was taken from. You do not own the image by any means so do give credit where its due ^^

Using a screenshot?
Here's a guide - all about taking screenshots :)

Made your own artwork? Coloured some lines? Had some art made for you?
Check out this guide - All about crediting
Just ensure your credits are easy for mods to see/find! If you don't have the credits on the piece at the time, do ensure you write above or below the piece. Simply (c) and the user :)

Signatures do not count as crediting, so be it a Toyhou.se, DeviantArt, Wolf play Account, etc, ensure there's a means of contacting said artist. Do not directly link to DA
You can, for example;
artistname.deviantart.c o m

If you coloured someone's line, ensure they're properly credited alongside whoever coloured it
Or if someone else made the piece, then fully credit them :)

I shall be using this derp (c) 231177 as an example

Now we have our image!

2) Hosting the image;
I do mean hosting, not posting. To post an image you need a hosting site. There are certain ones to use and ones to avoid, so here's a short run over.
A guide on hotlinking - including 4 hosting sites

Commonly used hosting sites¦
Only listing two :)

>> Upload the image

>> Choose the direct link
On mobile;
You may have to scroll down

On desktop;
Remember to click the little blue icon to quickly copy the link

>> Upload the image
Bear in mind, you'll need to select the type of image; family friendly
So before you upload it, it should look something like this

>> Choose the direct link

What's the difference between a hosting an image and hotlinking?
As a very short explanation, a hotlink brings you to the files of a website; its considered theft by many websites so just use hosting sites WP approves of :)
For a more indepth description, there's a whole guide ;)
Now you have your image hosted, so let's move onto posting it!

Wait, but what if I want to upload a lot of images, like using a gallery?
Ill use postimage as an example
>> Upload images
So you'll be met with all the images you've uploaded as you scroll down, in my case I added a top hat :0

>> Scroll up and choose the direct link
Don't forget the blue icon let's you quickly copy the link~

In this case, jump straight ahead to the section about linking, as you can't 'post' a whole gallery of images, but you can certainly leave a link :)

3) Posting your image;
So! You've gotten your image, you've uploaded it to a hosting sight, you're over halfway there! Now all you need to do is upload the image and make sure it's credited up so you aren't at risk of having it taken down again ~

You can post images in your pack bio, about the pack, blogs, forums and even in the chat box~ I'll be mentioning chat later on :)

When you reach the text box you'll find a multitude of options! The one we'll be interested in to start things off is the Insert.
Press Insert >> Image
Then you'll see this ~
The most important to pay attention to are
Link and Width/Height

In link; Copy and Paste your direct link
In Width and Height;
The width of a forum, blog is around 450 pixels
The width of your bio is around 650 pixels

By keeping the lock closed, the height and width of your image will remain proportional. When you change on side, it changes the other by the same ratio.
So whenever you upload a larger image into the forums, just adjust the width to 450 pixels or lower, and the height will change itself accordingly.
Note:
This does not change the size of the image itself. Downloading the image, it will still be the size you downloaded it in. It simply adjusts how its displayed on the site

Alternative description;
This will change what the viewer sees if they try and download the image

E.g; I'll be using a piece I made for Ciuin in my gallery ~
Here is before you add an alternative description -
:0 its the image name -

Here is after you add an alternative description
It's a big boy blep :0
Even if it's Ciuins gorgeous gal~

And there you have a posted image :D

Posting a link
There are many ways to use links ~
You can add links to images, words; be it to a specific part of the website, a forum, a gallery, an image or a wolf. You can even put links in chat :0 Amazing -
You may also want to refer to Kitties guide on linking~

1) How to add a link to text
>> First, have the text ready
I want to make it so when you press Aku, it'll take you to the beautiful Akugitsune328's den page!
>> Highlight said text
>> Head to Insert, and press Link
Note - If it's an image/gallery, you still need to use the Direct Link and credit accordingly
>> Now, you'll be met with this -
Url; Put in your link
In my case, I was popping in Aku's den page!
Text to display; This effect what text has the link applied
In my case, I only want "Aku" to take people to the page :)
Title;
I've heard in some cases it can effect what the link says, but I can't confirm either way ^^'' So if anyone knows for sure I'd love to hear <3
Open Link in;
If you choose current window, the address will be opened in the tab the current page is opened in
If you choose new window, the link will be opened in a new tab~

And now your added a link to some text :D

2) How to add a link to an image
>> First, refer to the part about posting an image if you haven't already. You can't link to an image you haven't posted ~
I want to add one of my wolves into my blog!
Here is the wolf in question! Now we just have to scroll down~
>> Use the link at the bottom of a wolf's page to get their image link ^^
>> Upload the image, and then in the text box click the image and press Insert >> Link
>> Copy the html link from your browser bar at the top of your Wolf Page
>> Add your link
Note - If its an image/gallery, make sure you're using a Direct Link and credit accordingly
Now if anyone clicks the image, it'll take them to the link! In my case, to my wolf's page :D

3) How to post a link in chat?
Similarly, how do people get - WP Link -
, -Click- and - YT Link -???

Your links will automatically change into - WP link - etc, as long as you submit the link correctly :)

If it's a forum/wolf link;
>> Copy the link from the top of the page, on the particular page you want to show people
Note; you shouldn't post a link to a wolf who's currently up for sale/breeding in the main chat; or else that would count as subliminal advertisement, and is against the rules :)
Extra Note; don't advertise for other people, e.g don't post for people to join someone else's roleplay ^^

If it's a YT Link;
>> Copy the link to the video, found through 'share' and copy to clipboard on a phone, or simply copying the above html code on desktop browser

If it's an image Link;
>> Simply copy the paste the link
Note; Hotlinking is only allowed in the chat box and game mail.

Be careful of what's to the left and right of a link! Your link will only work if the spaces to the left and right of your link are empty. If they aren't empty, your link will be incorrect - can't refer to a location - and rather than it becoming a - WP Link - it'll clog the chat :)

So if you're posting say an image~ http://www.imagebam.com/image/ad dress Here is an image
Rather than
http://www.imagebam.com/image/ad dressHere is an image
Just be sure you have a space either side of the link :)

How do you paste an image you've already copied onto wither Wp or postimage? I can't save the image onto my laptop, so doing it that way is out, but I still need help figuring it out..
