What would be good furniture to put in a pet room to make it feel full of life? Currently my pet room has two rabbits hutches and two cat trees.

Classic, if you're not Zeraphia or Sickly Sweet, please refrain from posting! Feel free, though, to stalk!

Plot:

This isn't Kansas. Not anymore, Todo. A group (or pair) of college kids end up traveling on vacation. They get to a shady looking hotel that is much nicer on the inside than the outside. Find some magic items, turns out they're not on earth anymore. They're in a fantasy world. Oh and those items? Someone wants those.

Name: Jackson Sharp
Nickname: Jack
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Orientation: Asexual/Demiromantic

Item + Ability: Red Pendant. This red pendant that looks eerily similar to maybe a butterfly or moth wing is a somewhat inconspicuous little item. However, this little beast gives the bonded wearer a pair of vibrant red moth wings... and pyrokinesis. Hope you like fire because you're stuck with it now. Luckily, you can hide the moth wings.

APPEARANCE:
With a blond Californian beach-boy sort of look to him at the first glance, Jackson stands with broad shoulders and gentle fair skin that has been sun-tanned over years. His fair skin, though, is peppered with gentle freckles over his cheeks and his shoulders. Despite that, his eyes are a vibrant blue color and windows to the soul.

While his wardrobe has been limited to one outfit--because hello the world ending seems to have a hand in that. He wears a grey shirt, golden locket, pants that are ... well-worn and occasionally pulls around a brown leather jacket, but usually abandons it if the day is nice enough. His red all-stars are well worn as well but he refuses to even try and replace them.

However, after he gets his pendant and bonds with it, Jackson's clothing changes. A darker reddish-grey Greek style like toga replaces his shirt. The golden trim accents his hair and eyes. But the young man still retains his jeans and shoes. Strange. A golden cuff loops around his right forearm, perhaps symbolizing something.

The moth wings he can occasionally hide are large. They're soft and powdery, but rather sturdy. Surprisingly. These red, orange and light yellow wings have a vibrant pattern to them.

PERSONALITY:

Tired may or may not best explain Jackson best. His ability to have the most subtle emotions is astounding. However, his face often gives him away. He hasn't mastered, at all, the art of a neutral look. His thoughts and emotions are always on display.

Tired is a solid expression he wears. The RBF is real. But, so is his subtle fear. He always worries about something, even if it really doesn't make much sense to worry about. Often it's the weird things. He likes to think it keeps him alive.

Such a mess this poor kid. It's a wonder how he's gotten this far through an English degree. Perhaps it's the attention to the dumbest details. Who knows. What probably doesn't help is the impulsive thoughts. Think twice before doing? Think once, do it, regret. That's how he works.

Name: Ellie Slaughter
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual

Item + Ability: Gold wrist cuffs. These little beauties give the wearer a set of large, black wings with a fleshy membrane. They are clawed at their peaks, giving them a more menacing look along side the twisted horns that will protrude from the wearers head. Now the ability? Shadow walking. It's no good in the day light, but when the tiniest shadow appears, she can claim it in an instant by teleporting there. The wings can be hidden. The horns? Not so much.

Appearance:
With narrow shoulders and broad hips, Ellie can be described as pear shaped. Her smooth skin is fair in tone, though does possess a rosy hue at its points, such as her shoulders, knees, cheeks, and nose. Her nose is slender and slightly upturned and her cheekbones are high. Her eyes are a golden-amber color that shine brightly in the sun and tend to have an eerie effect in the dark. However, those striking eyes compliment her long, chocolate brown waves.
-
Her outfit is likely her favorite one, so she has no qualms with it being the only. Patched forest green overall shorts are layered over a baby pink long sleeve. Odd color combination, yes, but she makes it work. Around her neck sits a little green gemstone necklace. She refuses to get rid of it. At her base are a pair of ankle boots that have little flowers adorning them in the same shade of her shirt.
-
-
After the bond has taken place, Ellie's appearance takes a rather drastic change. Her attire turns to darker colors, with a glittering midnight blue top and black flowing skirt that is split up the sides. It never seems to get tangled or lopsided, however. From her head sprouts dark grey colored horns, twisting back into sharp points. The bat like wings that reside on her back have a soft, fleshy feeling to them and are decently stout. They'll tuck neatly behind her, though they can be concealed as well.
-
-
Personality:
Major introvert. Shy is hardly the word to describe Ellie, as it almost isn't enough. She would rather sit in an awkward silence than have to try and make conversation. And meeting new people? Her worst enemy. Perhaps the best way to describe her is a walking ball of panic and anxiety, though she hides it well.

Her face doesn't betray her emotions hardly ever, making it hard to know what this little woman is thinking. Shes actually quite nice, it just takes a while for her to warm up to you. After that, things will be going fine and dandy, just have fun getting there.

How she's survived this far is a true mystery. Maybe it's the fact that she thinks things over so well that she overthinks before she acts. Either way, she must be doing something right.

A bustling city with the lights that reached up to reflect the stars above was not exactly the first place that Jackson had expected to find himself in. But, then again, there wasn't much that would surprise him anymore. He was about 75% certain that somewhere along the long twisting highway, he had taken a wrong turn somewhere. There was a lot of exits and turns, and loops and--yeah. He wasn't sure anymore.

But, there was a city. ... if a "city" could be described this way. It was a small town, a blessed sight after seeing nothing but grass, fields, cows and more fields and cows. So the town with the faintest lingering air of some sort of ish vibe was far too relieving to pass by.

The hotel had seen better days, the outside was crusted with a mixture of mud, pollen and maybe something else. Jackson wasn't going to look too much into it. At all. He parked the car, pulled the key from the ignition and stepped out with a faint groan.

His hands had slid into denim pockets, wandering around to the side of the car to open the door for his travel buddy. Ellie. It was getting dark enough that Jackson really didn't want to keep driving, particularly in a place he didn't know.

The chime of a bell caught his attention at first, drawing his eyes toward the sound as he spotted a figure stepping inside another building. He tilted his head, lifted his hand up to see the watch he was wearing... and frowned. Did they not know they were closed? Oh--oh, the person flipped the sign around as they worked on pulling chairs and tables down. Either way, that wasn't where they were headed.

Jackson glanced up toward the hotel once again and shook his head. "It'll be safe enough." Hopefully. Luckily, the interior was far more neat than the exterior. A soft, comfortable orange lighting greeted them when they walked in. The tile floors were clean, neat and polished. The faintest scent of maybe a vanilla cologne drifted idly through the air.

The car ride had began to make Ellie doubt. Surely they had taken a wrong turn, leading them into the wrong direction? In the description she'd heard, there'd been nothing such like the countryside they'd passed through previously. Perhaps they'd taken a different route... Either way, Ellie was just as relieved to be with the realm of a city again. It gave her a small sense of hope that they'd find their way just fine after a bit of rest.

Ellie's nose crinkled ever so slightly at the sight of the hotel. Sure, something was better than nothing, but she could only pray that the inside was better than the outside. She kept telling herself they'd just be resting then hopefully getting a move on come the next day.

As Jackson switched off the car and came around to her side to open the door, Ellie murmured a soft thanks, nimbly stepping out of the vehicle. The joints in her knees popped quietly, a protest to the way she'd been sitting for a bit too long. Her gaze followed the sound of a bell, her head tilted curiously. It was a bit odd to see a place opening up so late, but then again things may had worked differently in that town.

Ellie gave Jackson a questionable look, a small smile present on her face. "I do hope so.." she shook her head, falling a bit silent until they had entered the hotel. Much to her relief, it was clean, sweet smelling, and overall a much more welcoming environment than the outside had led her to believe. Ellie still couldn't help but to look around wearily, nearly jumping from her skin as a voice echoed from the front desk.

"Good evening," the man spoke, a light smile upon his face as he looked at the pair. Ellie absentmindedly tucked herself closer to Jackson, a bit of a blank expression on her face. Did he have to be so creepy? "I take it that the pair of you are in need of a room?" He questioned, motioning to the wall of keys that was nestled behind the front counter.

Ellie was willing herself to calm down, as she knew she was just tired and a bit stressed. Perhaps some sleep would do her worry filled mind some good.

Jackson all but whirled around on his feet when someone spoke, his blue eyes flashing wearily as he stared back at the man. While he didn't seem too eerie, the way he just smiled and stared was... odd.

There was something uncanny about the way he simply looked to the keys on the wall. Actual keys. Not a card, a key ring. Jackson was somewhat surprised, mostly confused, but somewhat surprised by the fact that they had actual keys.

"Yeah, actually," Jackson finally stepped to the counter, taking in a breath. "Just one night, we'll be headed out tomorrow just need a place to stay."

He rambled, briefly, which was a bit strange. Especially for him, considering his usually hesitant nature. But there was something that made him feel off and the best way to combat that was attempting confidence.

He took in a breath and nodded once again, pulling out his wallet and offering his card to the man. Before he could really reach out, a startling noise echoed from outside and he whipped his head toward the noise.

The little grey sedan that he owned was scooted forward in the parking space, a large van had attempted to try and back in to the space next to his car and missed by a few inches.

The woman who hurried in from the van looked at the pair. "Your car?" The look was confirmation enough. "Oh my, I am so sorry. That was totally my bad. Let me comp your room and stuff," she said quickly, hurrying behind the desk, jotting down a quick note or two, before handing the key ring to Jackson. "Feel free to take something from the gift shop. I'm going to be calling the insurance company so we can get this all sorted out," she said quickly. "I am so so sorry, I usually drive better."

She ushered Jackson and Ellie off down the hallway, pointing the doorway to the gift shop before pulling her own phone out and making a call.

Jackson stood there for a while, card and keys in hand, staring and blinking a few times. "Should... should I call my insurance? Do I not bother? What...?"

Ellie found it quite odd as well that the keys for the rooms were actual keys rather than keycards. I mean, that is a little old school... Then again, this whole situation was feeling eerily weird. At this point, she just couldn't wait to get into a room, sleep, then leave as soon as they could.

Ellie's thoughts were interrupted the moment the screeching of metal could be heard. Her head whipped around, her stomach dropping as she realized what had happened. The woman who came rushing in next was pleasant enough and truly seemed to feel bad, but the way she rushed the pair off was a bit unsettling.

Ellie looked up at Jackson, a rather bewildered expression upon her face. "I... I'm not sure," she murmured, scratching the back of her neck. "I mean, she seems to be handling it all, but.. I feel like we should do something?" She shrugged, her gaze wandering to the gift shop. Behind the glass set a number of commodities, ranging from clothing, to snacks, all the way to regular ol' souvenirs such as magnets and mugs. There were a few other things as well such as articles of jewelry and a few stuffed animals.

(so sorry for the wait only for it to be short. My brain was like nah man)

((No for real though. Sometimes the brain goes and it doesn't come back.))

Jackson shrugged in return. He didn't know what to do, in all honesty, he was more concerned about his car than anything else. It was old, rusty and often he worried about it. But that was all he had!

Either way, he glanced toward Ellie with soft sapphire eyes that slowly dimmed, just a touch, as he finally nodded. "Yeah, just... maybe we'll just do what she says. It'll be fine."

The gift shop had a rather dazzling array of stuff. Feathers, knickknacks, plushies, goofy T-shirts and the rest of it. It was a classic gift shop of a touristy sort of attraction.

But he felt bad taking anything of real value and finally just settled on snagging a little pendant. It didn't look like much and he figured he could put it over the mirror in his car if nothing else.

"Seeing anything, Ellie?" Jackson glanced toward his traveling companion. "I figured I'd just... snag this. It's like..." he turned the pendant over in his fingers, "a dollar."

Because he felt too uncomfortable to take anything else of higher value. Jackson sighed, looking back at the hallway for a moment or two, before looking back at Ellie.

His heart inside of his chest was twisting, wringing the anxiety out of it and dripping into his stomach. The anxiety churned his stomach into twisting knots and yet, holding that little pendant... turning it over in his fingers... felt somewhat calming.
