Name: Inferno
Species: Hellhound
Abilities: Shadow and fire manipulation. She's stronger when it's hotter and darker. She can use the shadows like tendrils, like vines, and make them become solid. She can use them as shards and can shadow blink (teleport) short distances. She can't travel long distances yet cause she hasn't built up the stamina. With her fire, she had good control of that: She can choose what she wants to burn and protect the things and people around it from burning as well, and she doesn't get burned.
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Year: 1st year
Appearance:
{Wolf form} A sleek and agile black wolf with gleaming red eyes. {Human} Pale skin with a splash of freckles over her nose bridge, she has long raven-black hair and red eyes. She stands at about 5'6. She has an athletic build, agile and slim with lean muscles running down her body. Her hair is usually worn in a long braid to get it out of her face. She usually wears jeans and a sweatshirt and is rarely seen in shorts and a short-sleeved tee. She has to be as warm as possible.
Personality:
Standoffish | Aggressive | Defensive
She isn't the easiest to get along with. She's standoffish and stubborn, always having to be right. She never likes being proven wrong or weak, as it makes her feel vulnerable.
Loyal | Hardworking | Cunning | Clever
Inferno is one of the most loyal people you will ever meet. Once you earn her trust and loyalty, she will stand with you no matter what. She's a hard worker, always pushing through. She's extremely clever and cunning, a trickster and a thinker.
Strengths: Heat and darkness make her stronger and give her more energy, and she's great at puzzling things. Great at sneaking around, too, using the shadows to her advantage.
Weaknesses: Water or ice, the cold. She HATES it.
Likes: The dark, warmth, silence, books! Like ice cream too....weird.
Dislikes: The sun, lmao. Kidding, she just doesn't like bright lights all that much. Hates the cold, loud noises, and annoying people. She also doesn't like being bored, so she'll always have something in her hands. A book, a weapon, ect.

vito ebrahimi
'vi'
21 | male| bisexual | human
first year
appearance
Vito's skin is a deep, golden brown with slightly reddish undertones. His face contains some sparse sun spots and wrinkles from his years spent on the sunny beaches of his home region. Peering out from his heavily tanned face is a pair of inquisitive dark brown eyes under thick brows. His hair is so dark that it almost appears black, but in the sun it is a deep chocolate brown. He wears his hair just past his earlobes and often ties it back for convenience.
Standing at nearly 6'3", Vito is very tall and muscular, which intimidates many people upon their first meeting. He finds intimidation to be very convenient in certain situations, however, so he works hard to maintain his physique. His back, shoulders, and arms are dotted with small freckles and moles, along with more spots from the sun.
For attire, Vito often sticks with clothing convenient for the weather back home. He prefers not to wear a shirt, instead wearing a loose, flowy pair of pants and woven sandals. Since he can't exactly go around half-naked in school, he typically chooses a button-up made out of breathable materials. He is so used to the heat and humidity of his home that he's always unprepared in terms of clothing when he travels somewhere new. He wears a bracelet of red clay beads that his sister made for him when they were children and never takes it off.
personality
When you first meet him, Vito can come off as a bit unfriendly. With strangers, he often remains quiet and seems disinterested. However, after talking to him a few times, he starts to open up a bit.
Vito is fiercely protective of his loved ones. He would do anything for his sister and her daughter - he believes that attending a school meant for supernatural beings will help him become better prepared to protect them. He doesn't consider himself a violent person, but cross his family and there will be hell to pay.
Vito is also very inquisitive. Throughout his childhood, he particularly loved learning about the world's various cultures, a passion he still holds today. When he came of age, he and his sister began traveling all over the world, returning home only when she discovered she was expecting a child. Since then, Vito has been devoted to helping care for his niece, but he still longs to see the rest of the world.
Finally, even though he doesn't recognize it, Vito is extremely compassionate. It's obvious especially in the way he interacts with his sister and her daughter. Seeing someone struggling or in trouble is very difficult for Vito, and he will always want to go out of his way to help someone in a predicament.
strengths
- compassion
- physical strength
- conventionally attractive
- inquisitive and curious
- intelligent and self-aware
weaknesses
- lacks supernatural abilities of any kind
- low self-esteem and confidence
- can be hostile to strangers
- very overprotective of his family

{I’ll start! ^^}

A large, jet-black wolf padded out of the forest, its striking blood-red eyes gazing up at the enormous building that rose from the ground in front of it. It was made out of dark wood, possibly spruce or dark oak, with grand brass doors leading inside and curved windowsills detailed with goldish-tinted brass.

The wolf shifted into a girl with long ebony hair in a single long braid that was draped over her shoulder. She still had her piercing red eyes, but her skin was pale and there was a splash of freckles over the bridge of her nose. She was in a pair of loose cargo pants and a large sweatshirt, despite the warm weather. The light breeze made the few strands of hair that escaped from her braid sway into her face, which she brushed out of her line of sight.

She growled under her breath. I don’t even need to be here. I already have a good grasp on my abilities, but no, my parents force me to go to a Supernatural school where I have to interact with other creatures. She had nothing against other Supernaturals. On the contrary, one of her greatest friends was a Jinkan Kitsune back home. But, she didn’t want to be forced to interact and work with creatures she wasn’t close to.

She stalked into the academy confidently, her head held high. She walked to the front office and leaned on the counter. The secretary looked up at her and waited. “Inferno, Hellhound, First Year.” She said bluntly. As the secretary got her information together, Inferno examined her. Probably a dragon or a drakon with the slope of her eyes and the fangs she has, She thought as the woman handed her a packet, flashing her fangs at her in a smile.

The Hellhound took the packet from the secretary and walked out, leaning against the wall as she looked over the information she was given.

Name: Inferno

Species: Hellhound

Year: First

Abilities: Umbrakenisis and Pyrokenisis

Dormroom: 13

Roommate: No

One good thing her parents did. They managed to snag her a single dorm room so that she didn’t need to share it with a roommate. The only downside? The next dorm over, Dorm 14, was the start of the male section of the dorms. Inferno didn’t really care about that, she was just glad that her room was her own.

There was no question that he was in the right place, Vito thought as he stumbled off of the bus and onto the gravel-packed road leading to one of the most extravagant buildings he'd ever seen. The dark wood stood out in stark contrast to the bright, lively foliage surrounding it, and the massive metal doors glimmered in the sun's rays.
The bus that had picked him up in the city about an hour ago sped away with a roar, kicking a few stray pieces of gravel into the air. The driver had seemed overly eager to get away from the place; he'd spent most of the drive telling Vito about the sorts of unusual characters it attracted. As instructed in the thick parchment envelope that had arrived back home a few months earlier, Vito had kept his mouth shut. The bus driver had no clue that he was dropping new students off at a school for supernatural creatures - he had probably had all sorts of beings in his vehicle, from dragons to werewolves.
And Vito, of course. Even though the letter from the school had thoroughly covered most of his burning questions, the biggest one was still left unanswered: why him? His letter had simply stated that humans without supernatural abilities were sometimes chosen to study at the school - and it was left at that. No indication as to why he was so special, or even how they had found him and determined that he should attend. He doubted it had anything to do with his family; his parents were deadbeats, preferring to spend their lives finding new drugs to get addicted to rather than taking care of their two children. He wished he could talk to his sister about it. Genna was a couple years younger than him, but he had no doubts that she would be able to come up with a reasonable explaination for all this. That didn't matter, though; he was strictly prohibited from discussing his enrollment at the school with any humans other than those affiliated with the school.
Squinting against the glare from the doors, Vito made his way up the gravel road to the lavish building. He paused before the doors; they looked as if they weighed thousands of pounds each. But when he reached out a hand and touched them, they swung inwards effortlessly with little more than a push.
The interior of the school was so much darker than outside that for a moment, Vito couldn't make anything out. As his eyes adjusted, he noted a foyer that reminded him somewhat of a hotel; a large desk in the middle of the floor, with intricate spiraling staircases on either side. Behind the desk was a woman sorting papers. Vito awkwardly shuffled his way over to her. When she looked up at him and gave him a friendly smile, he was alarmed to see how sharp her teeth were. "Name, please?"
Vito suddenly realized she was talking to him. "I-um, Vito. Vito Ebrahimi."
The woman gave him another offputting smile and thumbed through her papers. "Ah, you're the human coming in this year! We're all so excited to have you." She slid a stack of papers across her desk to him. "In there is a pamphlet of all the information you'll need over the next few days - a map, a class schedule, and more. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask an upper-year student or find a staff member. You'll be staying in room 14. It's a single, just so you know; we try to keep non-magical and magical beings separated when it comes to living quarters." She waved at him. "Have a great first day!"
Vito's head felt like it was overflowing with information. He wandered dazedly towards one of the giant staircases and made his way up slowly. At the top, he found himself at the end of a long hallway. It was blanketed with a plush red carpet, had elegantly-designed doors on both sides, and was lit with antique-looking wall sconces installed every few feet. He made his way slowly down the hall until he found room 14, about halfway down the hallway on the left. Vito realized suddenly that he had no key to open the door, but when he gripped the doorknob, he heard the soft click of a lock. He turned the knob hesitantly and stepped inside.
It bore more resemblance to an apartment than a bedroom. Vito found himself facing a sprawling sitting area, a medium-sized kitchen behind a half-wall, and a bed in an entirely separate room. On the far side of the room were two glass doors that appeared to lead out to a balcony of some kind. Vito dropped his stack of papers onto the couch and spun slowly in the center of the room, in awe.

Instead of heading to her dorm, Inferno decided to wander around the school for a while, just exploring. By the time the bell had been struck for dinner, the Hellhound had found many things. She had found the Headmaster’s office, a surprisingly small office tucked in the center of the large, regal school. She had found the library, a large room stacked to the ceiling with old books, and a small courtyard hidden away in the outskirts of the school. She had stayed there for a little while, just sitting in the mossy grass that laid over the stone benches like a soft blanket, before the bell had rung out, signaling it was time for dinner.

Sighing, Inferno stood up, beginning to walk back inside the academy. Walking down the corridor toward her dorm room, she slipped into the shadows, melting into them as they reached out to envelope her, avoiding the large mass of students who were traveling down the hallway toward the Mess Hall for their evening meal. Her eyes narrowed in announce at the loud chitter chatter of the other students and weaved around them easily. Her senses were swamped with the other scents of the students, many different species mixing together and socializing.

But one scent stood out from the rest, one that she hadn’t smelled for a long time, not since wandering into a human town when she was younger.

A human.

She was across the hall from her dorm, hopping out of the shadows and becoming visible once more. The door to Dorm room 14 opened and out came a very tall, muscular male with dark hair and golden skin. Inferno eyes flickered up and down, analyzing him as they passed. She saw a reddish beaded bracelet around his wrist, but ignored it as it wasn’t an important detail. Their eyes met as they passed, Inferno twisting slightly to the side to avoid hitting their shoulders together. Her crimson eyes spiked with defiance, clashing with his dark brown eyes.

She had never gotten along well with humans, only having a small interaction with them when she was younger. She still had a scar from it.

Once, she had wandered away from her mother, who was busy dealing with something else, and since her father was out hunting with her older siblings, no one noticed that she was gone until much later. Inferno had run through the forest, chasing after a moth that was floating on the breeze. It led her to a small human town. She stopped near the treeline, but her pup curiosity had gotten the better of her, and so she trotted out of the dark forest, narrowing her eyes at the bright sunlight that washed over her and her pelt, though she welcomed the warmth.

She had wandered into the town, sniffing and gazing around with amazement at all the new scents and sights that she was being introduced to. Her ears perked up as she heard a high pitched giggle, and she ventured deeper into the town until she saw a group of tiny humans, their pups, she thought, playing around with a ball. She tipped her head to the side, her tail wagging in excitement as she trotted forward, just a little.

The kids, when they saw her, stopped playing and dropped to their knees, motioning for her to come over. She gave a little yip and started to walk towards the human pups, but then her back leg buckled, and a few seconds later a sharp, agonizing pain shot up her spine, and she let out a howl of pain. An adult human rushed outside, holding a gleaming silver thing that Inferno had later learned was a gun. He shouted as waved his hands around to scare her off, and pointed the gun at her again.

With her ears pinned to her head, Inferno had limped away, whimpering in pain. She had never trusted anything so openly after that day, and had despised humans.

A low growl rumbled from deep in her throat as she entered her room, her hand drifting down to where the bullet had hit her in the mid-thigh. It had healed just fine, but it was still there, a constant reminder about how awful the world could be.

Vito spent the rest of the afternoon poking around his room and putting away the few belongings he'd been instructed to pack. His letter had assured him that all his supplies for his classes would be provided by the school, which was just as well; he had absolutely no clue what kind of materials he would need at a supernatural school.

Upon closer inspection, there were actually two rooms, both furnished with twin beds, a nightstand, a dresser, and a desk. Vito assumed it must be standard for students to room together and was quietly relieved that he wouldn't be living in close quarters with an entirely different species with who knew what kind of abilities. He chose the bedroom closest to the door; unlike the second bedroom, it lacked any sort of windows, but he felt a little safer being closer to an exit.

After unpacking, he explored the rest of the apartment-like room. The other bedroom was nearly identical to his, just with windows; Vito guessed that different abilities had different needs when it came to their living situations. There was also a small room set into the back wall with an interior similar to an antique log cabin, complete with a stone fireplace built into the wall and another glass door leading to the balcony. When it got colder, Vito could easily see himself sleeping there, kept warm by the heat of the fire.

There was a small loveseat sitting before the fire, and Vito sunk down onto it, shocked at how soft and plush it was. Was every room the same? He didn't know how supernatural currency worked, but he imagined building the school and furnishing it with all of its luxury amenities must have gotten expensive after a while.

Vito's eyelids began to droop, and he quickly found himself nodding off. Suddenly, the jarring sound of a bell echoed through the room, startling Vito out of his half-conscious state. He surveyed the room; there were no bells or speakers in plain sight. He wondered if the sound was amplified throughout the school somehow, maybe even using magic. Yawning, he stood and noticed that the light filtering through the windows was much softer. Dusk was settling in quickly - it must have been a dinner bell.

Outside of his room, Vito could hear the brushing of feet and low murmur of voices above and below him and wondered how many other students attended the school - and if any others were human. As he turned to check that he had shut his door all the way, he felt something brush against his back. He glanced over his shoulder to see a girl with dark hair hurrying past him. His stomach twisted; she was the first other student he'd encountered in his time here. She looked back at him and their eyes met. Vito was shocked to see that her eyes were an unnatural red, made more prominent by her pale skin. He opened his mouth to greet her, but before he could say anything, she opened the door to the room next to his, stepped inside, and slammed it behind her.

Vito stood alone in the hallway, feeling a bit stupid. Were all of the supernatural students like that? She obviously hadn't been human, though he had no idea what other species studied at the school. He thought about knocking at her door and introducing himself, but decided against it. Slowly, he forced himself to walk in the direction of the spiral staircase that would take him back to the first floor.

As he descended the stairs, he found himself face-to-face with a massive throng of people, most of them appearing to be about his age. Some of them were obviously inhuman, with brightly colored hair or unusual markings on their faces, but others looked as though they'd be at home wandering around Vito's hometown. Hesitantly, he stepped off of the stairs and joined the group moving steadily down one of the great halls. As he passed, some of them craned their necks or peered at him; they obviously could tell he was different from them. They acted as though they'd never seen a human before, Vito thought nervously.

They turned a corner and entered the mess hall. Vito nearly stopped in the middle of the crowd to stare. The room was massive, the roof hundreds of feet above their head. Tables of all different sizes and shapes were scattered across the floor. There were huge windows covering the walls, stretching from floor to ceiling and giving the students a perfect view of the scenery outside.

The rest of the crowd was forming a line at a long table positioned at the front of the room. It was heaped with plates and dishes full of food; Vito's stomach growled just looking at it. It seemed as though students just walked up and took whichever plate they liked. Vito waited as the line inched forward, still entranced by the hall around him.

Inferno had unpacked everything in her bags, and it had only been about 15 minutes. She knew that dinner lasted about one and a half hours, so she still had time to eat, but the other students would still be there. She almost cursed her efficiency and organization, but then chuckled to herself. It was a blessing and a curse, she guessed.

She hadn’t really looked around the room when she entered it and unpacked, so now, in the hope to waste more time before she had to go to the Mess Hall and eat, she took the time to go around it and observe her surroundings.

It was a fairly large room, almost apartment like, with a small kitchenette, a living room kind of area, a walk in closet, and a chink in the walk, like a little cover, where her bed was placed. In the living room was a stone fireplace, by it a good sized stack of firewood. There was also a desk placed by the sliding glass door that seemed to lead to a balcony. Another good thing. She could sleep next to the heat source if it was cold, right next ot the fire, or even in it. She eyed the fireplace, deciding that it was big enough for her hound form.

The heat would make her a lot more comfortable and relaxed, and if the night was warm enough, she could see herself sitting outside in the little woven hammock that was outside along with a small coffee table. The hammock looked like it was made from spider silk, and Inferno concluded that an Arachne, a half human half spider, had woven it. The living room floor was carpeted, and her feet sunk into it as she stepped on it. Another reason why she would probably sleep there instead of the bed.

She dipped her head into the walk in closet, already knowing what was in there because she had already been in there, putting away her clothes. She glanced at the kitchenette, wondering why it was there at all when the students had the Mess Hall.

Inferno groaned, running a hand through her hair and looked at the clock. 15 more minutes had passed, meaning she still had an hour for dinner. Muttering to herself, she grabbed her dorm room keys and locked the door behind her as she left the room, walking down the hallway. The corridor was mostly empty, with only a few students drifting though them, chattering quietly.

Inferno made her way to the Mess Hall, narrowing her ruby eyes at the noise that emitted through the thick oak doors that marked the entrance the hall.

Inferno pushed the doors open, and they swung open soundlessly, though many eyes fell on her and she stalked into the Mess Hall, her head held high and a smirk on her face, sweeping her crimson gaze around, challenging anyone who looked at her for too long. The Mess Hall was a room of beauty, with large, arched ceilings like the other rooms of the academy, and detailed with thin brass.

Walking up to the foodline, she was lucky that there was only a couple students that were coming back for seconds or thirds, hungry from either their trek to the school or from using their abilities to much. She decided to grab some meat, an apple, and a couple more pieces of food and looked around for a place to eat. Most of the supernaturals had sat with those of their own kind, but she could see that a couple creatures were sitting with other species, all of them laughing or talking with smiles spread across their faces.

Snorting, Inferno managed to slip outside and sat down in the grass, leaning her back against a tree trunk. She took a bite out of her food, pulling out a book that she had snagged from the library during her exploration of the school with her other hand. It was a story about how humans managed to tame dragons and worked alongside them peacefully. Those kinds of books amused her, being obviously fictional. Humans were as savage as they thought Supernaturals were.

And as if a human could ever best a Supernatural. Inferno sneered to herself.

Vito finally found himself at the head of the long table stacked high with food. He frowned, peering down at the plates. Some of the dishes were heaped with foods he'd never seen before and couldn't even identify. There was spongy green algae, what looked like a pile of hot rocks, and one plate full of what Vito was sure were human bones. He stood frozen for a few minutes, staring at the bizarre spread of food, until someone behind him cleared their throat impatiently.

Vito hurriedly scanned the table, and his eyes fell on what he hoped was a bowl of soup. He snatched it up and scurried away from the table. He paused against one of the towering wooden walls for a moment and brought the spoon in the bowl hesitantly to his lips. It tasted like tomato soup, and he was relieved; he had been concerned he would end up accidentally drinking a bowl of blood or something awful like that.

Scanning the mess hall again, he realized that it had nearly filled up completely in the time it had taken for him to grab his food. Every table he could see was occupied by students of varying species. It was a bit embarrassing, Vito thought; he was stressing over who to sit with like he was in high school again. He found himself glancing at the massive windows taking up most of the walls. It looked beautiful outside; the sky was clear and the sun cast gentle rays through the glass and onto the floor of the hall. Vito took one last look around the hall and made a beeline for the exit.

It was just as nice as he'd expected outside. The sunlight was warm, but the breeze provided a cool chill. Instead of looking for a place to sit, he began to explore the school's grounds, sipping at his bowl of soup as he walked. He was behind the school now, rather than at the front where he'd entered earlier. The scenery back here was totally unfamiliar to him. In the distance, he could see what looked like a massive lake, the sun's light shimmering and dancing off of the surface of the water. He decided to go down and check out the water on a day when the cold wind was absent.

The land behind the school was flat and bare, a wide expanse of lush green grass stretching on for several miles. The road leading directly up to the school had been wooded, but the nearest trees here were at least a mile away. They stood, solemn and dark in the distance, marking the edge of what looked like a thick forest.

There were a few thin streams of water streaked throughout the grass; when Vito knelt to touch the liquid, he was surprised to feel that it was warm. He wondered if there was a spring under the grounds or if it was heated by something supernatural.

Vito stood and squinted towards the lake. He could just barely make out what looked like the distant silhouettes of buildings beyond the water. The bus that he'd taken to the school had picked him up back home and driven straight onto the winding rural roads that led him here. They hadn't passed through any other towns or cities, just driven by a few scattered homes. He wasn't sure what the buildings could be; some isolated community? More housing for students? He guessed he would find out in time.

Vito turned around and trekked back to the school. The sky was quickly becoming overcast, and without the warmth of the sun, the chilly wind was bitter. As he made his way back towards the school's massive doors, a flash of movement caught his eye. The girl he'd seen in the hallway, the one in the room next to him, was seated under a nearby tree, book in hand.

Well, Vito thought, no time like the present. He strode towards her, taking heavier steps than usual as so to not inadvertently surprise her. "Hi", he called out as he drew closer. "My name's Vito. I think we're neighbors? I saw you in the hall earlier and I thought I'd come say hello."

Inferno had already finished her food, placing the plate next to her as she continued to read her book under the shadow of the tree. She growled in annoyance as a water nymph tried to approach her from one of the many thin stream-like water ways that branched off and flowed through the meadow she was currently sitting in. The nymph was probably curious to what a student was doing out here alone, but she didn’t care in the slightest.

The tinted-blue skinned girl’s clear blue eyes, like the sky above them, widened and flashed with panic, and she was quick to disappear back into her stream, sinking below the surface. Inferno chuckled to herself. Pesky water spirits. She never understood how creatures from different elements mix with each other. She had seen a mountain kitsune and a dragon, one of the fire-breathers, chatting at one of the tables earlier, and it caused her to raise an eyebrow at how easily they were talking, and how at ease the mountain kitsune had seemed talking with a creature that could torch her without a second thought.

One thing she hated about being a Hellhound was that they had an extreme intolerance to anything cold. She could swim, but it was hard for her to keep a steady body heat. While other creatures thought something was chilly, she thought it was freezing. It was…annoying.

She continued reading, head shooting up when she heard footsteps approaching her from the back. Her body tensed, prepared for anything as she twisted around to glare at whoever was behind her.

“Hi. My name’s Vito. I think we’re neibors? I saw you in the hall earlier and I thought I’d come say hello.” The male said. She immediately recognized him as the guy from Dorm room 14, the human. Standing up, she placed her book down and walked up to him, stopping in front of him.

Her crimson eyes narrowed as they flickered over his form, analyzing him once more. “Inferno.” She answered shortly. “And if you’re staying in Dorm room 14, then yes, we’re neighbors. I’m in Dorm 13.” While she was talking, she scented the air. Clearly human, not that she didn’t already know that, but there wasn’t any other scent attacted to him, signalling he wasn’t a mage. She had heard of a rare occurrence that happened at their school, when the school decided to bring in a mage, a human with supernatural abilities through either a supernatural that had gifted them or their family, or a human with supernatural blood, into the school to train. But she had never heard anything about them letting in just a plain human.

“Interesting.” She slowly stalked around him, keeping his gaze steadily the whole time. “I don’t scent any elemental or magic clinging to your main scent. There’s not any water, smoke, earth, or wind scent, so you’re not a mage.” She stopped in front of Vito once more. “So why would the academy let in a human? Just a plain human with no supernatural abilities?” Secretly, she was glad he wasn’t an ice or water mage. Her oldest brother had gone to school with one and almost lost his tail to frostbite because the ice mage felt provoked and threatened. Not really something she wanted to experience.

Inferno’s eyes narrowed further in interest. This human was curious, that was for sure.
