A long time ago, I had a worldbuilding club. That was pretty fun but I kept forgetting to post on it. So, are you a worldbuilder? Or would you like to be? This is the thread for you to come and chat with other worldbuilders! :D Feel free to post about anything related to worldbuilding, new characters, new creatures, towns, cities, anything! :D If you're looking for feedback on a concept of some kind, feel free to post it here too!

WEEKLY QUESTION:
When did you start worldbuilding, and what inspired you to start?

I guess the project I'm working on involves some form of worldbuilding. Worldbuilding as in: I've barely developed one province in one entire country. I got started when I was looking into making RPG games (that was a deadend project). I'm turning my development ideas into writing instead. This is the blurb. I haven't gotten very far. lol Spirits, supernatural beings that roam the wilds of Alania. If you manage to befriend one, it becomes your Companion Spirit (shortened form Companion or Spirits, used interchangeably, Companions often by older folk). Once a Spirit chooses its human partner, it remains with its partner for life. Over the course of this project, I plan on adding more than the five Spirit "species" I currently have. Still in the very beginning stages of worldbuilding, lol.

Oh that's sick as! :0 Do you have a name for the province yet or is that still up in the air? Naming things is one of my biggest weaknesses as a worldbuilder.
I'm super curious about the spirits, will it take different methods to befriend the different types?

The Alanian Empire, which has eight provinces within. I've only started working on the one, which is a mountainous region named Zarenia. The thing about Spirits is they have a thing for trinkets. In this world, you craft Pledges, which are trinkets meant to appeal to a Spirit and help you bond with it. One character has a Spirit that likes dandelions, but it has a tendency to eat them. His Pledge is a dandelion ring encased in resin. When one other character accidentally pissed another Spirit off -- he hadn't known about Pledges, he just happened to be working with a Spirit -- the Spirit he was working with hastily put together a random trinket. Fortunately, the attacking Spirit was actually so weak, the random trinket inflated its ego and accepted it graciously. ...not gonna lie, this started off as a Pokemon fanfic. lol
