Damn. I thought, sinking in my desk chair. I forgot about homework last night. Miss Mary was walking around collecting papers from other students. Amanda, the President and Miss Popular Smartypants, smiled with her straight white teeth as she gve her paper to our teacher. As she approached my desk I pulled down my baggy black sleeve. I tapped my foot, and my combat boots made a loud thump each time it hit the floor. "Mr Oliver? May I ask where your homework is?"
"No, you may'nt."
"Pordon?"
"I don’t have it ma'am."
"Oliver Saint, this is the fourth time this month. If this happens again I'll have no choice but to call your parents. Clear?"
"But- Miss Ma-"
"No buts! I'm serious, young man. Now, here's a spare and hurry and finish it."
I groaned, but pulled put a pencil and scribbled down some random numbers.

It felt like hours befoe the bell rang, and I grabbed my bag to leave for lunch. "Mr. Saint." Miss Mary called to me.
I returned to her desk and bit the inside of my cheek.
"Please look at me, Ollie." I lifted my chin to meet her eyes. My swollen purple eye looked fresh, but it was infact getting better.
Miss Mary sighed, and stood. She turned to grab her first aid kit and told me to sit in her chair. As she inspected my eye, I felt a sinking feeling in my gut. "Miss Mary," I started. "Am I gonna flunk my senior year?"
She was silent for a long while. She leaned back and smiled weakly. "No. I've been grading all your homework with your... situation in mind." I felt tears prick my eyes. I started sobbing, loudly and uncontrollably. I leaned into her and hugged her tightly. She hugged me back, and for the first time in a long time, I felt safe.

The morning was tough. My arms ached and were covered in half healed cuts and deep pure bruises. I pulled on a black longs sleeve and a baggy tee. My ribs ached too, for some reason. I stretched and made sure his cat was gone. I roughly brushed my hair and bullet on my boots, pulling them over my deep blue jeans. I put on my glasses, and started the day.

Amanda Groves walked up to me while at my locker. She glared long and hard before saying a word. "I don't know why you're till here. Not even Miss Mary could help you're grades. And you're not fooling anyone with that stupid eye makeup. A real bruise has more yellow hues in it."
She turned away and marched off, her group of possums following, giggling andpointing at me. I sniffled. It hurt when she did that. But I couldn't tell her without sounding like I wanted pity. My father didn't mean to hurt me... he just got angry.
I walked passed ger class and got into the bathroom. Unfortunately, by law, I had to use the women's, despite still being accepted as a guy at school. I did my thing and washed my hands. No one else was in there so I rolled them up. Then I heard a scream. I turned my head to see redhead Amanda, pale faced and face draw with fear. She ran to me and grabbed my wrist, pulling me all the way to guidance. The guidance counselor gasped, and soon the principal was called, and the nurse. Everything was busy around my, and my sleeves were stripped from me. Until I heard a voice.
"It'll be okay, Ollie."
I collapsed into her once more, and finally, I listened to her lesson.
