I have to train my battle wolves before I get anywhere in explore first :') otherwise I would. plus I need more apples than anything and my dragons are normally worth apples and would sometimes go for 5+ apples per adopt back when I was doing adopts.

You can do your adopts, but exploring is DEFINITELY the money maker. I have 150k mushrooms saved up right now from exploring.
