Desert Wars
Mother Nature is a force that knows no bounds, and does not discriminate when it comes to her destruction, especially in the unforgiving desert. No other pride knows this like the Desert Pride does, a group of lions that originated in the Kalahari Desert. When their territory was decimated by fire, the Desert Pride was forced to leave in search of a new home. It was a perilous journey, with threats behind every corner that devastated the pride’s ranks. By the end of it all, the pride was hanging on by a thread, little hope remained in their eyes.
However, their luck shifted when they happened upon a small territory that was left relatively unclaimed. The small pride who owned the territory had died out, leaving it up to grabs for the first pride who noticed it. With powerful prides all around, it was a gamble, but it paid off, and the Desert Pride claimed it for their own. Most of their new neighbors welcomed the Desert Pride, wishing them nothing but success, especially with what they had been through. However, one neighboring pride was not so keen to see the Desert Pride making a home of their new territory. See, they had their eye on the territory for a while, and knowing that the original pride was on the verge of dying out, had simply waited, buying their time while they waited to make their move. Unfortunately for them, they waited too long, and lost out on the opportunity to expand their own home.
Still, even though it was their own mistake that cost them, the Ridge Pride has held a vendetta against their new found neighbor. The Ridge Pride is a strong pride, large in numbers, and thriving in their current territory, it’s no wonder they would want to expand with how dominant they are. They, unlike the other neighbors, are not the more benevolent pride, as they are one of those who will happily take what they want, when they want, and they aren’t shy about it either. They have every intention of taking the Desert Pride’s new territory from them for their own.
The Desert Pride isn’t ready to just give it up though, and so, the Desert Wars have ensued.
Unfortunately for both prides, though, a bigger threat lurks on the horizon. Lured by the promise of power and pride, a group of nomadic males named the Ukufa Lions (or Ukufa Coalition) have arrived in the area. Their intentions are everything a pride dreads: takeover. And they have every intention of taking either, or both, prides by force. With a coalition of 5-6 lions, lead by two aggressive males, there is little that stands in their way that can stop them.
Will the two prides unite to defeat a common enemy, or will they rip each other to shreds and leave themselves vulnerable to the violent takeover of the Ukufa Coalition?

The Rp Rules Obviously, Follow all of WP and Eve’s Rules. 1. Be Active. Minimum Activity Requirement is a Post Every 2-3 Days. If you haven’t posted for 4 days, and I haven’t been told in advance, I will simply remove your lion. 2. This is a Semi-Literate Minimum Rp, so No One Liners Ever. Minimum 5 Sentences Per Character for Every Post. 3. No Godmoding, Powerplaying, etc. None of that will be tolerated. 4. Drama in Rp is Encouraged, but OOC Drama is not acceptable. Keep it Civil. 5. No Love at First Sight, Being Mates With Your Own Characters, or Instant-Mates. If you come into the Rp with an Established Mate, that’s fine. But I shouldn’t see lions who don’t know each other mates after one day. 6. Keep it Somewhat Realistic. It would take an entire pride, including Male Lions, to take down a Water Buffalo. I don’t want to see Solo Lions taking down things that don’t make sense. 7. Again with the realism, the likelihood of a lioness being able to fight and win against an adult male in his prime is pretty slim. 8. Semi-Realistic Lion Appearances at Most. Coat colors and markings should be semi-realistic, eye colors can be more exotic. 9. With Fighting Give People the Chance to Defend Themselves, as well as, no avoiding all attacks or always perfect attacks. 10. Read everything, seriously, it's painfully obvious when you haven't. If you've read everything, put Caterpillar in your first form, but disguise it please. 11. I reserve the Right to Deny Applications. 12. Have Fun!
Note: For the purpose of this Rp, I will Not be accepting Orphaned Cubs. If you make a cub, they must have a Care-giver of some sort, who will monitor and care for them.
________________________________
Pride Rules 1 - No Relations with Non-Pride Lions. If a lion or lioness is found in a romantic relation with a Non-Pride Lion, the offense is punishable how the King & Queen see fit. Relationships with Non-Pride Lions is considered a form of Treason. Non-Pride Lions included Nomads and any Lions not in that specific pride, though they might be in another pride. 2 - The Dominant Males (King through Third Male), the Queen, Cubs Under 6 Months, and Nursing or Pregnant Mothers eat first. It's up to the King & Queen to decide if the others get to eat with them or not, typically that decision is based on the size of the kill and the state of the pride. • Each Pride will Decided differently though. So if the Ridge Pride has ONLY the Queen and Dominants eat first, they can.
3 - Challenging the King and Losing can result in Death or being exiled. Keep in mind, challenging doesn't mean you'll always be chased out though, but there will be punishment of some sort involved.
4 - Queen is not a Rank you can Easily Challenge for. All the Lionesses in the Pride have to approve of the challenge, before it can occur. If a lioness tries to take over before the approval has been gained, the offense is punishable by exile or death. • For the Ridge Pride, they only require a majority vote from the Lionesses of the Pride to Challenge 5 - Mated Pairs Must Receive Permission from the King & Queen before having Cubs, this is just to ensure the pride can sustain them.• For the Ridge Pride, if any cubs are born without prior permission from the Dominant Pair, or are born from a pairing with an Non-Pride Lion, they cubs may be abandoned or worse.6 - Once cubs reach a year old, they move up to their decided rank and begin training. At that point they are a functioning member of pride society, and will not be treated like a cub. 7 - Cubs are not allowed to wander outside of the Main Camp Site (where the pride rests every night, like a den site), unless accompanied by an adult lion. If they do, they may punished (like being grounded), and possibly the cub-sitter watching them at the time will be punished too.

Pride Ranks
King This is the most Dominant Male in the Pride. His words are law, and going against him in an action punishable by death. There might be other dominant males in the pride, but he's the supreme lion daddy, and all others bow down to him. He doesn’t necessarily have to be mates with the Queen, but he won't take kindly to another male trying to gain her favor. Especially since his position isn't as solid and constant as the Queens, a male gaining her favor could mean a challenge to his position. A change in Queen, does not mean a change in King. Queen Contrary to popular belief, the Queen is the most stable position in the pride. She is the most dominant lioness in the pride, and has total reign over the lionesses. What she says, goes, and defying her is an offense punishable by death. Even the King respects her and knows her position in the pride, especially since her support of him could be a factor in how long he stays King.A change in King, does not mean a change in Queen. Second Male This is the second most dominant male in the pride, and could almost be viewed as a Second in Command. He might be related to the King, or he might be a male that he met prior to taking over. Either way, the King and Second will usually have a history. He is pretty much second in line, and if the King dies, he will assume the role, unless challenged. Third Male The Third Male is an Optional Position, but they would be the third most dominant male in the pride. Like the Second, there would be history between him and the king, or he and the second. The Third male is typically the smaller, younger, or weaker of the top males. Hunters These are the Lionesses, and maybe some lions, of the pride who are responsible for hunting and bringing down food for the entire pride. Often there will be a lioness that the Queen trusts more than anyone else in the pride, and they act as like her second in command of the lionesses pretty much. The lionesses of this group can be led by the Queen into battle if she deems it necessary. Warriors These are the males, and the occasional female, who are in charge of defending the pride from outside threats, and sometimes even inside ones. They don't interfere with dominance challenges, but once one is complete, they'll kill or run off the loser if commanded. They do occasionally aid in hunting as well. Cub Sitters These are the lionesses, and occasionally lions, who keep watch over cubs when the pride goes on a hunt. Typically, if all the cubs aren't weaned, there's always one lioness there who is nursing, though that lioness isn't always a designated Cub Sitter. They are the last line of defense for the cubs, and would lay their lives on the line to protect them. The ration for cub sitters to cubs is 1:3, maybe 1:4. Cubs These are the young lions and lionesses who are up to the age 1, anything older than that is considered a sub-adult, and is going through training so they can eventually take their place in the pride. Which means, anything older than 1 year will have a normal rank. Elders These are the lions and lionesses who are the age of 9 and older, also known as Old Adults. They're still capable lions, and by no means should be mistaken as weak, and can still help out with daily duties. A lot of times, other lions will go to them for advice or help. ________________ Unofficial Positions Favored Lion & Favored Lioness These are the lions and lionesses Favored by the leads in the pride (the King & Queen). Basically, they are the one who are likely to be their mates, if the Leading Pair themselves are not mates. Since lions do not have to mate for life, this position can fluctuate, and there may be more than one at a time too. The males are more likely to have multiple "mistresses" while the Queen is likely to have one male she prefers more than most. These lions and lionesses, can be anyone in the pride. Other terms for these favored lions are: Mistress, Mister, Paramour, etc.
Lead Huntress This is the Queen’s most trusted lioness in the Pride. She is the lioness who leads hunts in her absence, or aids in leading them when she is there. She is often the Queen’s confidant, and is typically never the King’s favored lioness, as that would be a betrayal to the Queen. Typically this unofficial role is filled by a lioness who has quite a bit of history with the Queen. If the Queen were to perish, and an heir has not been chosen to replace her, this lioness will take the role until a new Queen is officially chosen by the pride.
Out Cast This is the least dominant male or female in the pride, a lion or lioness that has earned the unofficial lowest rank in the pride. They're the least trusted, and likely not to be given tasks when the pride needs something done. This position can fluctuate, but not very often.
Note: If you want your lion to be one of these, put so in their form, however, it will be approved by those who Roleplay the Leading Lions.

The Ukufa Coalition
Ukufa meaning "sickness" fits this particular coalition of males, because that is exactly what they are to the lands. A sickness, a plague, the coalition of males is one of the most ruthless, bloodiest, and ferocious coalitions in the area. Made up of (up to) 5 - 6 lions, all in their prime, there is little that stands in the Ukufa's way that they cannot simply mow over. War and devastation are their specialty, the Ukufa male's are known for their high aggression and bloodshed.
They are lead by (up to) two dominant males, the rest of them there as support in return for the ability to continue on their lineage. These males are tight knit, all of them either related as cousins or brothers, or, at the very least, good friends. These males want nothing more than to take over the newly formed pride, so that they can expand their reign to the region and take over other prides. This pride would just be the stepping stone to get them where they are needed, and they won't be happy with just one pride. They want them all. It seems as if nothing can, or will, stop them.
The two "ranks" for this Coalition are either: One of the Dominant Males, aka the Leading Males Or One of the Other Males, the Sub-Males, Supporters or Followers if you will

For the First Posts
The Desert Pride will be on the hunt, looking to provide a meal for the pride. The lionesses are stalking a herd of wildebeest near the border of the territory. All the lionesses, even the Cub-Sitters, have been brought in on this hunt to encourage the best chances of success. The males are out patrolling, keeping an eye out for danger to might threaten the pride. This means the only cub right now, Titilayo, has been left within the pride's Main Camp Site and stay hidden. Though, cubs aren't known for always listening.
While the Desert Pride is hunting, the Ridge Pride is moving quiet similarly. The Lionesses are pulling together for a hunt, intending to keep the pride well fed for any coming confrontations with their new neighbors. Some of the males are also out on a patrol.
After the initial posts, a couple of things will happen. First, the Desert Lionesses will be successful, they will pull down their prey, but pretty much exactly on the border of their pride and the Ridge Pride. This, they know, is dangerous, and will call to the males to eat and to protect them.
For the Ridge Pride, while out on patrol, the males will have seen the Desert Pride's success and where it is, and return to their Queen to report. This will cause the Ridge pride to seek out this kill in hopes of bullying the other pride off it, and to learn their numbers.
All the while, in the distance, the Ukufa Coalition nears, they haven't yet learned of the status of the prides, but they're heard rumors of the Ridge Pride and it has peaked their interest. It'll be a wonder if their sights stay on the Ridge Pride or shift to the Desert Pride.

Ismitta Desert Pride | Queen | Female | Mentions: The Pride Lionesses
A greyish tan figure moved quietly through the grasses of her new territory, paws stepping silently as they trailed behind the herd of wildebeest they were following. They had happened upon the herd earlier, and had seen a couple of beasts that would make for perfect meals. Her sights in particular were set on an older bull lagging at the back of the large herd.
Like much in life, patience was key, and Ismitta new that. With him so close to the herd, their chances of success in the hunt was lower, since all those ears would be listening for danger and not just his. Instead they trailed back, letting distance remain between her hutning party and the unsuspecting herbivores. Eventually, she knew, he would straggle to far behind, and she could set the pride up for an ambush. But first, patience.
The Queen glanced at the lionesses with her and eyed them quietly. There were five of them total, including herself. Truthfully, Ismitta would have preferred a hunting part of five true huntresses, but with her pride numbers having dwindled, she knew this was what she had to work with. There was Palika and Viyan, the two huntresses in her pride. She knew she could rely on them to give it their all, and new their were capable. The three of them could have been capable of bringing something down easily, at least, they would have prior to her being pregnant. However, being so far along, Ismitta was being careful. With days away from birth, if that, she was taking no risk with her first litter.
Besides the three of them, were two others. Kailani, the pride's designated Cubsitter. While hunting was not her primary job, everyone lioness understood the fundamentals of hunting, and Ismitta trusted her to do a good enough job. Nor would she hold it against her for mistakes though. It was unfair to expect her to perform at the same level as Palika or Viyan, and she just appreciated the lioness being there.
The last lioness gave Ismitta more anxiety than the hunt. Onyeka, her mother, had joined them much to her disapproval. She knew the aging lioness was more than capable of participating in a hunt, but it still unnerved the female to have her there. For one, her mother was never the most... nurturing.. character. She was never one to hold her tongue, and if she thought Ismitta had messed up, she was going to tell her. But also, the Queen just didn't want to see her mother get her. There had been some close calls over their journey from the previous territory, but the old bat proved to be a tremendous feat for death itself.
Sighing softly she paused for a moment and studied the herd. "They draw closer to the other pride's territory," she murmured to her group, and glanced at them. "The river that separates our territories will help shield us from them, but it won't stop anyone from crossing, whether it be lion of prey," she spoke quietly so her voice wouldn't travel to the herd. But she wanted the other females to be on guard in case their hunting attracted unawanted attention.

Onyeka Desert Pride | Elder | Female | Mentions: Ismitta, Lionesses
The burly lioness moved as quietly as she good behind her daughter, keeping one eye on the pregnant lioness and one of their prey. It was well known that the aging lioness was hard on her daughter, but she did worry for her, and she knew the past year had been hard on the lioness. Now, here she was, trying to lead them through another trial so they could live comfortably in a new territory, all while pregnant and expecting any day. While she would likely never say it aloud, she was proud of the lioness her daughter had become, and was happy to be there to witness it.
It was true, Onyeka's other daughter, and Ismitta's sister, Hadiza, had been her first choice in heir. But when the lioness had died suddenly a little over a year ago, Ismitta had stepped into the responsibilities despite the pressure and her own disapproval. In her opinion, Ismitta was too soft to lead, and she still slightly believed that, but it seemed a gentler touch wasn't always bad. She had the pride's respect, and their loyalty, and she hadn't needed to make them fear her to do so. Not that she had, but Onyeka had been renowned for being a hard ass while being a Queen and had taken the power of leadership from her mate.
The aging lionesses' face softened a bit as she recalled her former mate. That fool had been as soft as they come, but she loved him nonetheless, fool or not. He had died far too soon for her liking, but she knew he would be over the moon with how their daughter had turned out. She was also thankful he hadn't been around when they lost Hadiza, though, that would have broken his heart.
The lioness sighed inwardly as she reflected, but shook the thoughts from her mind as best she could. While she spoke nothing of it, she missed her late mate, and her tired bones often made her wonder when she would join him. Onyeka hoped she could hold out a little while longer though, she had grandcubs to see.
Her eyes flicked to Ismitta as the lioness spoke and she nodded silently, keeping any words to herself. She would not undermine her daughter, and she felt no need to anyways, she was leading them well.
Her eyes sliced over to the distance, scanning the territory their neighbors controlled. They hadn't seen any sign of them, and she hoped it would remain so while they hunted, and then hopefully ate. She didn't think it would stay that way, though, that pride seemed to live on a power trip and it wouldn't surprise her if they tromped off theit territory without any care in the world in hopes of sending some sort of message. Brazen fools.
