Welcome to Castlekeep Estates, the Premere Riding Academy for Prospective Professionals . Castlekeep Estates is a world renowned riding and training academy based outside Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The academy is for students ages 18-22 to earn their college degrees in equine fields as well as hone their skills as riders. Some of the most elite of Castlekeep's graduates have been seen on the Grand Prix circuits and even the Olympics! What challenges and mystery await you in these hallowed halls of the old military fort? . Links: . General Rules | 1 | Mod's rule is absolute. Fae Myst and Feralhearted will run all shows, events and will be the teachers at the school. We are also responsible for prizes (apples or mush). We will not have student characters that are PCs that compete in shows. | | 2 | Follow all site and RP rules. | | 3 | This is a realistic RP with a semi-lit requirement of 5 sentences a post. If you wish to post more, that is encouraged. Characters must be approved before play. Please use third person and a header with Name - Horse - Location - Mentions. | | 4 | Be active, preferably posting once every two days. They will have good days, meh days and bad days where they might act out. The only requirements are that they are sound, green-broke, over the age of 4 and not aggressive toward people. Grade horses are fine and papers/pedigree don't always make an amazing animal. | | 10 | Horses brought to the school as student mounts may be called upon for shows and contests. If you do not want the horse used, please post that in their bio. | | 11 | If you plan to have characters at odds with each other (school rivals, show rivals, antagonistic behavior, etc) please clear it with each other to prevent misunderstandings. Place a post in the discussion thread saying that you both "consent to the dramatics". | | 12 | You may only have 1 character per person. Your character will learn to ride both English and western at school, so they will be able to choose to compete in both English and/or western in competitions. Any issues between players should be brought to the attention of Feral or Myst. | | 14 | You may have a horse of any level as your school horse, but you will be given the appropriate level horse by random draw for competitions as RL IHSA rules state. Having a horse that is a higher level than you are is not always the best in lessons as it might be more horse than you can handle, but is permissible as long as it is not deemed dangerous by a teacher. | | 15 | Not everyone is an expert and what is common knowledge to you may be unknown to others. If you do not know something, always know the discussion forum is a safe place to ask. Feral and Myst seek to educate people about horsie topics above all. Contest Rules | 1 | Shows are held bi-weekly and will alternate between English and Western style disciplines. Both types are run the same. | | 2 | "First Place" in each level of competition will receive an apple (possibly more for special events). If no player wins first in a level, then no apple is awarded for that level. | | 3 | Contest winners are determined by a dice roll (d8) system based on stats of horse and rider combined. This allows for the player to have some control over their chances. | | 4 | You must have posted in-character at least 5 times in the 2 weeks prior to the show to be eligible to compete. | | 5 | Each contest will have "specific qualities" the judges will be looking for. These judging preferences are picked at random to form the 3 stats used in points calculation. (1 from the rider, 2 from the horse) | | 6 | The minimum number of player entries to hold a level of competition is 3 (if two or less are entered for a level consistently we will adjust the minimum requirement or alter it temporarily) | | 7 | Horses are selected for riders at random from a pool of horses Myst and Feral manage. After entry you will be informed what horse you drew from the lottery for that show day. | | 8 | All results will be posted the day after the event for everyone to read. An example class will be posted below. | . Contests Specifics Explained Entering the Contests: All that is needed for entry is 5 in character QUALITY posts in the two weeks prior to the competition. Myst and I will have the roster posted on Saturday morning before we draw for horses. Horse drawings: In the spirit of IHSA, the host school will provide a set of school horses for each level of competition that will be randomly drawn for each student to ride in competition. These horses stats will be posted below. Each horse is assigned a experience level (for our sake, we will use the same list of horses for English and western) and will be in the pool to be selected. Myst and I will randomly draw the horses for each rider. You may ride different horses each time or you could get lucky and ride the same horse more than once. It's luck of the draw. Judges: Judges will have specific preferences they will be looking for in each contest. These are chosen at random and will consist of one rider preference and two horse preferences. These will be the stats used to determine your character's performance in the contests. The judges preferences will change every contest, just like having new judges at each show in RL. Character stats: These are the stats that you choose for yourself during character creation. Once you decide on your level (beginner, intermediate or advanced), you will assign the appropriate amount of points to your character stats. For example: My NPC Kaleb is an advanced rider. I think he is a jock and charming, but not very good at keeping form or remembering patterns. SO I could assign his points as follows: Athletics 4 out of 4, Academics: 1 out of 4 and Charisma: 3 out of 4 to reflect those choices. Having such a low academic score could be bad in some cases, but in others, having a high athletics will help him. School horse stats: These function just as character stats do, just for the horse. Horses are assigned a level like a human and each rank comes with an assigned number of points. For example, my horse Iris is an advanced level horse as she is a true all arounder and can do just about everything at an average level or above. SO I assigned her as 2 points in each of her disciplines for the advanced stat total of 8. Human Character: Name: Belladonna Callahan (Donna) Age: 38 Gender: female Sexuality: Hetero Husband: Aron Callahan Appearance: Donna (as she prefers to be called by students and teachers alike) is a little badger standing at 5'8" tall. She has long dirty blond hair that falls straight to just past her shoulder blades. She has vivid blue eyes that she often protects with sunglasses (that may or may not also hide some of her age lines from being in the sun too much). Donna usually wears tasteful make-up and can dress to impress when she wants to. She much prefers to wear jeans, cowboy boots and a leather jacket from some world show along with a cowboy hat. If you see this woman without a coffee in her hand, be ready for a rough ride. Personality: Donna is a ball of fire with a coffee addiction. She is the rough and honest type, but is very supportive of her students. She is not afraid to call you out if you are doing something foolish, dangerous, wrong or a combination of all three. She is well known for getting on a students horse to school them if they are not doing something right for the student or giving students Chrome to practice new skills. She usually teaches her riding classes from the saddle so she can demonstrate what she wants rather than just explain it. Out of the arena, Donna is sassy and fun if you are following directions. She can be mothering to students who she feels are in need of a little extra TLC. She runs the barn with an iron fist and god help you if she finds you not pulling your weight. Although she is usually a chill person, god help you if you get on her bad side. She has a snake's tongue if you rile her up and does not tolerate disrespect to anything (horses, other students, equipment, you name it). She will give you chances to redeem yourself... but she will also give you enough rope to hang yourself with if you are not careful. His hair is medium length and hangs at about the top of his ear. He has side swept bangs that are slightly lighter than the rest of his hair. Jason is pretty tall, standing at about 6'6 at full height. Jason has multiple scars, the most noticeable starting at his right tear duct and ending at his left. He naturally has light skin, but after hours in the sun it darkened to a medium tan. He has a body like a model, and his job as a stable hand kept his form up. General Appearance: Solstace is a black gelding, he has a white blaze on his face and naturally wavy mane and tail. This makes him look almost dream like, and if the light hits his coat right, it looks like Solstace is glowing. He has long feathers, that are also white.
General Personality: Solstace is very willing and very forward. He usually is like a big puppy dog, wanting to play with all of the other horses. Most people are surprised when they see a shire trying to play with the other horses, but they soon find out he wouldn't harm a fly. Solstace is very strong, and Jason needs to use a lot of leg to keep him in line. Solstace is very spooky, and doesn't like most people touching him. He doesn't usually mind being ridden in different saddles, but he hates his bit changed, and has used the same type for his whole life.
