Lost Hope
The day had been about as normal as any at Red Creek Ranch. The birds chirped, the dogs barked, the cows hummed to one another, and the humans tended to the horses like usual. The horses were the pride and joy of the ranch, the center of attention whenever they had visitors or were offering lessons during the summer months. The horses thrived like all the other livestock - goats, sheep, chickens, you name it. The ranch consisted of over 100 acres of open land just for the animals, and more on top of that for their other needs.
However, one day, this had all changed. Nobody came to tend to the horses. The ranch remained silent and steady, like time had stopped. Dark clouds rolled over the estate, a heavy rain pouring down and lightning striking with the thunder clapping. The horses noticed how sluggish the other animals seemed - not as lively as they once were. Confused and alone, the horses had made their escape into uncharted lands after finding a break in the far south fence. A few of them remained at the ranch, hopeful someone would come along. This caused a divide among the small herd, leaving those who left smaller in numbers.
The group has since then made their way as far away as possible. They have noticed changes in some animals, seemingly infected with some disease. They appear to have very little awareness of what was going on, but were hostile. Spooked and unsure of where to go, the formerly owned horses stumble across a wild herd. They seemed to have adjust pretty well, knowing what to do but still were not informed. Reluctantly, the wild herd took in the others, praying that they would be on their way sooner or later.
Plot
The two groups are trying to thrive in this new world while watching how this unknown disease affects the environment and other creatures they may be familiar with. Unknown to them, they can just as easily get infected if they are not careful. The tension between the two groups has been reduced, though still apparent as the two grow annoyed with one another. Will they survive the way they hope to? |

The Infection
Not a lot is known. The wild horses have seen most of what it does. It causes the host to become unresponsive and almost in a deceased-like state but still fully concious. They become heavily hostile, but also seem to be a bit torn between whatever is infecting them and their true selves. The easiest way to avoid this is to stray away from anyone or anything that could be carrying this. The horses will most likely leave behind anyone they think is prone to getting it and do not want to risk their survival. They are unsure if it can eventually kill you.
More will be revealed.
The Tamed Group
The horses that came from Red Creek. They are scared of this outside world with no structure and much learn to adapt as they get taught by the wild herd.

These guys reluctantly took in the tamed horses to teach them, but are not planning on keeping them around for long. They know the most about the infection though are not quite sure about everything.

Character Rules
1. Obviously, all of SixBear/Eve's rules apply and trump all.
2. Characters are to be 3+ of age for now.
3. Please be sure to keep all characters realistic. I don't want to see a very powerful horses with no weaknesses, or a horse with rainbow stripes.
4. Your character must have three strengths and three weaknesses - no exceptions.
5. No OP characters.
6. You're allowed 2 characters.
7. Please keep genders as even as possible.
8. While romance is not a big deal in this RP, it is fine to have mini sub-plots for. That being said, do not make romance the plot of the RP - that just isn't what it is.
9. Your character sheet must have at least 250 words in personality and appearance each. This simply proves your literacy. I will be checking, and no, I won't be making exceptions.
10. No characters will be of romantic interests to one another if they are your own two characters.
11. Don't have your character constantly running off, causing trouble - it's annoying, and honestly, it's frusturating to most players.
12. Everyone's characters will have some idea of each other, even from the two different herds. Nobody is a complete stranger.
13. I am going to be slightly picky when it comes to characters. I do not want to see the same copy-and-paste character. I want diversity. So please be creative!

2. Type at least 300 words per post with proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation. I understand writer's block, but 300 should be enough to keep everything going.
3. Have permission to harm/kill someone else's character.

6. Swearing is fine as long as it isn't over-used.
7. Obviously, skip over explicit scenes if there ever is one.

Breed Kiger Mustang Group The Wild Herd
Appearance Nahawi is a red dun stallion with a skewed blaze and three slipped white socks. He has many scars across his body and stands at 16.2 hands. His mane is a darker shade of red to counter with the red dun factor of his body. Hes got leg barring, shoulder barring, and a dorsel stripe from his withers down to the tip of his tail. His eyes are blue. His blaze ends when it reaches his top lip, peaving his chin on one side darker red due to being a red dun.
Below is an image I have colored. Propper credits are listed in the bio section of this deviant art page. Personality Nahawi is a kind soul. His heart is gold and he has a lot of problems with self doubt. He cares for those around him, young or old. This red dun stallion has a protective streak a mile wide and cares for all, no matter what dangers come. With his self doubting ways and worry, he can tend to have a hero complex. Having been burned and hurt so many times in his growing and aging, Nahawi has learned that trust is earned. He will try to save everyone but himself and in doing so, has been hurt mentally and physically in the past. He prefers to stick close to those he knows instead of those he does not have a close relation with. He loves all younglings and will try to be a mentor to foals of all shapes, ages, and sizes. Some days Nahawi has anger issues due to the pain he has gained from years in the wild. His scars, weaker front leg, and time used to work his territory grows in his exhaustion and frustration. His mind is always spinning with ideas, but his voice rarely speaks them out. This stallion is soft spoken, but kind. He will do what he can to aid in ending a scuffle or a full out fight. He has taken many beatings of his own and knows that generally, words hurt more than physical strikes. All in all, Nahawi is a tender hearted, fun loving, self sabotaging, sweet heart. If anyone needs a shoulder to cry on, he will do his best to be there.
Strengths Born wild, Nahawi has a bulkier frame to support against the wilds.
Weaknesses The scar on his neck from a cougar attack creates tightness and pain due to scar tissue. Old fracture in front right leg creates stiffness and lameness during the winter and late fall leading into early winter. Hero Complex.
