17
Pronouns
He/him

Personality
Chris possesses a natural charm that draws people in. His humor, often delivered with a quick, sarcastic edge, keeps those around him entertained. He has a knack for saying what others are thinking but are too afraid to voice, which makes him refreshingly relatable. Chris’s comedic timing and ability to laugh at himself show a self-aware and confident personality.
Beneath his humor lies a deep sense of empathy. Chris connects with people on an emotional level, often offering comfort or support when needed. He values meaningful relationships and strives to create an environment where everyone feels seen and valued. This authenticity is a significant reason fans and friends are drawn to him; he’s unapologetically himself.
Chris is highly imaginative, with a unique perspective on the world. He enjoys storytelling, finding humor or depth in the everyday, and bringing those moments to life through content creation. His creativity is not just a skill but a core part of how he interacts with the world.
Though outwardly confident, Chris has a reflective side. He often overthinks situations, analyzing his actions and their impact. This introspection can make him deeply self-aware, but it also opens the door to self-doubt. He’s the type to sit with his thoughts, seeking understanding or clarity about his emotions and decisions.
Appearance
Chris has a soft, rounded face with subtle angularity, giving him a youthful and approachable appearance. His cheeks are slightly full, lending to a more boyish look, though his jawline is visible, particularly when he smiles. His eyes are a striking light brown or hazel, often appearing warm and expressive. They are moderately almond-shaped and large, conveying a sense of openness and warmth, often accentuated by his eyebrows, which are slightly arched.
Chris has a straight and well-proportioned nose that fits harmoniously with the rest of his facial features. His nostrils are slightly flared, giving a subtle sharpness to his profile.
His lips are full with a well-defined cupid’s bow, and he often sports a gentle smile. His teeth are even, contributing to his generally clean-cut and attractive appearance.
Chris has fair to light olive skin, which gives him a warm undertone, often glowing in the natural light. His complexion is smooth, with an overall youthful appearance.
Chris is known for his ever-changing hairstyles, but he often keeps his hair styled in a tousled, messy look. He has thick, medium-length hair that falls just past his forehead, sometimes styled into a messy quiff or pushed back with a natural wave. His hair color is a dark brown, often appearing almost black in photos, and he may occasionally highlight it with lighter tones, depending on the season or his current style.
His hairline is clean and well-kept, and the texture of his hair is generally soft, adding to his polished yet effortlessly cool vibe.
Chris stands at about 5'9", a moderately tall height that is proportional to his frame.
Chris has a lean and toned build, with visible muscle definition in his arms and upper body. His physique is athletic but not overly muscular. He carries himself with confidence, and his posture is relaxed yet self-assured.
Stature: His body type is generally slender with a moderate level of muscle tone, hinting at someone who is active but not overly focused on bodybuilding. His body language suggests he is comfortable and confident in his own skin.
Chris's style is casual and contemporary, often seen in hoodies, graphic t-shirts, and jeans, with a preference for comfortable, yet trendy, pieces. His wardrobe reflects his easygoing personality—comfortable yet stylish. He also occasionally opts for layered looks, adding jackets or denim pieces that give his outfits more dimension.
He occasionally accessorizes with jewelry, including rings, necklaces, and subtle chains, adding a bit of personality to his otherwise simple attire. His overall aesthetic has a relaxed, "effortless cool" vibe.
Voice & Accent
Chris's voice is distinctively smooth and conversational, carrying an effortlessly relatable quality that resonates with his easy-going personality. His tone typically rests in the mid-range, though it can rise with excitement or amusement, giving it a lively, dynamic edge. There's a slight raspiness to his voice, which adds texture and warmth, making it feel approachable and authentic.
Chris speaks with a casual American accent, specifically influenced by the northeastern United States, as he's from Massachusetts. This regional influence subtly seeps into his speech through soft yet noticeable features:
Dropped R's: Occasionally, Chris might drop or soften the “r” sound in words like car or bar, giving them a flatter tone (cah, bah), a hallmark of the Boston area accent.
Broad Vowels: Vowel sounds, particularly in words like park or heart, are slightly elongated or flattened.
Quick, Clipped Speech: His cadence can be fast-paced, reflecting the lively, often hurried conversational style typical in the region.
When Chris speaks, his tone is often light-hearted and humorous, with a slight drawl when he's being ironic or teasing. He has a knack for inflection, often emphasizing certain words for comedic effect or to drive a point home. When excited, his words tumble out with energetic enthusiasm, but in reflective or serious moments, his voice slows and softens, showing emotional depth.

Backstory
Chris's early life began in a bubble of warmth and security. His mother, Sophia, was a bright and determined nursing student, a young woman with dreams of helping others. Her spring break trip to Italy had been a fleeting escape from the pressures of her rigorous studies. She had met a charming man there—enigmatic, adventurous, and entirely unlike anyone she'd known back home. For a brief moment, their whirlwind romance felt like something out of a fairytale. But life, as it often does, had other plans.
When Sophia discovered she was pregnant, she reached out to her Italian lover. Their conversations were heartfelt but practical, leading to the mutual decision that raising a child together wasn’t feasible. He had his own life and commitments, as did she. They parted ways amicably, and Sophia decided to face motherhood on her own. Chris was born the next year—a radiant, healthy baby with his mother’s warm smile and the lively spark she’d often said came from his father.
For the first two years of his life, Chris lived a blissful existence in the small but cozy apartment Sophia had managed to secure. They didn’t have much, but she was resourceful and deeply committed to giving her son a happy and stable childhood. Pictures of Sophia holding baby Chris at parks, on hospital grounds with her classmates, and during lazy weekends at home tell the story of a woman deeply in love with her child and life itself.
But tragedy struck just days after Chris’s second birthday. Sophia, on her way to a late-night shift at the hospital, was hit by a speeding car while crossing the street. The accident was fatal. Her sudden death left a gaping hole not only in the lives of her friends and colleagues but most significantly in the life of her little boy.
With no father listed on his birth certificate and no way to trace her former lover, Chris’s future was immediately uncertain. Sophia’s parents had both passed away years earlier—her father from a heart attack, and her mother after a long battle with cancer. Being an only child, Sophia had no siblings to step in. In the span of a week, Chris went from a warm and loving home to a bewildering journey into the foster care system and the orphanages in between.

Backstory
Calixto's life had been perfect. His parents were amazing and he had alot of friends. Of course, he had normal childhood worries like every child has, but nothing was horribly wrong. Him and his childhood best friend, Aaron, would hang out practically all day everyday. Everything Calix could ever want he had, thanks to his well off grandparents. Seriously, life physically could not have been better.
.
As Calixto grew, though, things started to change. Specifically, his feelings. Calix found himself in love with his best friend during his years in middle school. Without really thinking things through, he went and confessed. But Aaron didn't feel the same, to say the least. He was a jerk and spread rumors about Calix that spread like wildfire. Things only went down hill from there.
.
Shortly after Calixto's family moved to avoid all the rumors about Calix, his mother was diagnosed with a heart disease. That is to say, she did shortly after. His father did his best to raise Calix and his little sister, but there's only so much one person can do with two kids. A couple months after Calix had started freshman year of highcshool, his dad got into a car crash, which killed him instantly.
.
After that, Calixto and his little sister were put into foster care. Lydia, his little sister, found a home pretty quickly. But that left the poor grieving boy all alone. First his mother had died and then a few years later, his father died. And now his sister and him were separated, never to see eachother again. It was no wonder that when Calix finally did find a home, he was a troublemaker.
.
Eventually, he was shipped back to foster care. After that, he continued to bounce from home to home. For his final year as a minor, the system decided to give him a stable place to stay - Horizons Orphanage. He's set to stay at the orphanage until he turns eighteen, where he then is allowed to leave and do whatever he wants.

Chris was woken up abruptly by a loud banging from a room down the hall. He loved everyone that lived in this particular home, but if there was one thing he could change, it would be the morning routine. If only the boys down the hall didn't like to wake each other up by wrestling their roommate on to the floor. He considered actually getting up and going downstairs, but that didn't sound like fun. Instead, he stretched himself out far enough to reach his phone, which was plugged in across the room, and rolled back over to check stuff on it. It was mostly throw away emails, stuff he's put his name in for to get some free stuff, and now received emails every two hours, a text from his social worker, Dawson, and a couple random videos that friends had sent. He didn't know why he felt a little disappointed: it was more than he normally got. And hey, at least someone had thought of him when they'd seen something funny. He huffed and rolled onto his other side, tossing his phone back onto the nightstand beside his bed. He sat up, and pursed his lips, running a hands through his messy dark curls.
A few minutes later, once he was fully awake, he got dressed, and went downstairs. It was already a happening place, people running through the industrial-sized kitchen to grab food before they went to summer jobs, summer school, or any other sort of thing. It was already blazing hot in the kitchen, and he loved quickly to gather a large plate of breakfast. It was eggs, again. He *hated* eggs, but he shrugged it off. There was bacon too, that was a nice treat. And the toast wasn't burnt, even if it was a little cold. Chris went to his normal seat at one of the tables, settling in, plopping his phone on the table beside him. His normal group of friends all had gotten jobs, and were already out and about for them, which made him wished that he had maybe looked for one too, but it was too late now. Trying to get a job in this town was hard enough, and he was still saving for a car anyways. Chris picked at his eggs, and scarfed down his bacon, trying to plan out his day. He could go down to the park, and look at the ducks, he thought dully. He liked ducks.

Calixto lazily watched the scenery fly by as the car that was taking him to his supposed "new home" sped down the highway. Before, Calix would have fought this new development. But now, with the numb hole in his chest at an all time large, he just couldn't find it in himself to care where he was as he waited for his sweet death to come. Normally a kid his age wouldn't be thinking, or even hoping for their end, but Calix wasn't like everyone his age. He was broken and hurt. Calix had once heard his and another social worker talking about him. They were questioning if he would ever be able to smile again. He highly doubted it. Not when he hadn't felt a truly positive emotion in months. The only thing that gave him just a flutter of a good feeling was his favorite foods. But those feelings were nothing compared to the anguish he felt daily.
.
Before Calixto could doze off, the car slowed to a stop infront of a medium sized building that he could only presume was the orphanage he would be staying at until he turned eighteen. This would be fun. Not.
.
Calixto stepped out of the vehicle, slamming the door behind him to subtly voice his dissatisfaction with the situation. He wasn't looking forward to living with a bunch of other kids, specifically kids younger than him. Besides that small detail, as I said earlier, he could care less where he takes up residence. But what's done is done, and there was really nothing Calix could have done to change the people's minds. He knew that. That's why he just quietly accepted his fate. And that's why he's now standing infront of the orphanage door with a suitcase in hand and Lauren, his social worker, knocking on the door.
.
In to time at all an older man answered the door, which Calix presumed was the owner of the orphanage. The man gave the pair a warm smile as he held out his hand to shake. Calixto quickly shot the friendly gesture down as he pushed past the man and walked into the orphanage's foyer with a slight frown maring his features. He wasn't here to play nice - he was here purely so he could have a roof over his head. And he wanted everyone to know that and to just stay away. He knew it wouldn't be easy to convince the adults to mind there own business, but he was determined to show them he wasn't here for pleasure. Even if it meant everyone here at the stupid orphanage would hate him, because that would be better than pretending to be happy for the sake of others.
.
"Sorry, he's just tired from the journey." Calixto heard Lauren say to the man as she shook his hand before both appeared behind him. "Where's my room?" He muttered in a dull tone as he glanced around, subconsciously checking out his new home. "Oh, right, of course. You will be rooming with a boy your age. I'm sure you'll get along." Calixto's expression soured even more than it had been previously at the news. Great. He would have to deal with a roommate. Just perfect. "I didn't ask if we would get along. Just show me to the dang room already." Calix huffed, his grip on his suitcase tightening significantly.
.
Luckily the old man obeyed and took them to Calixto's new room. After setting his luggage down by the second bed, the group went to the dining room where some of the kids were seated eating breakfast. "I apologize in advance, most of the kids are out right now. Alot of them needed extra help so they went to summer school. And some of them have jobs." The old man explained as they entered their destination. Oh, great, an orphanage full of dummies. Just what he wanted. Looking up, Calixto really only saw five kids at the table. There was a kid that looked around his own age with dark brown hair, but besides that the other four kids were pretty young. Probably around 5-8 in age.
.
"Excuse me, everyone. We have a new kiddo coming to live with us. His name is Calixto. Please do your best to be kind and welcoming to him. Christopher, he will be sharing a room with you, so show him around once you're done eating." The old man said, raising his tone slightly so he got everyone's attention. Humoring the old man, Calix raised a hand and gave a half-hearted wave, though he still didn't bother to smile. The man then put a hand on Calixto's shoulder, opening his mouth to speak. But before he could, Calix moved out of his grasp, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Don't touch me, old man." He muttered quiet enough as to not embarrass the man infront of the few children that were watching. The old man was dumbfounded at first but then quickly recovered with a smile. "Of course. I apologize, Calixto."
.
After a beat of silence passed, the old man gestured to what Calixto presumed was the kitchen. "Feel free to grab yourself some breakfast. There's plenty of food. In the meantime, Lauren and me have some things to discuss. Please make yourself at home." Calixto didn't bother to answer as he watched the two adults leave, making him acutely aware of how out of place he was. But he shoved the feeling down and turned towards the kitchen. Without a word, he grabbed a plate and looked over the food that was available with a judging eye. Just from the food he could tell this orphanage was mid-tier at best. Ugh, this was awesome. So freaking awesome.

Chris was distracted when everyone arrived, which was kind of his normal state of being. He was pretty sure that the eggs that the few kids that lingered in the dining room were eating were toxic, and they would all have food poisoning by the next day. He leaned over his plate suspiciously, eyeing the scoop of scrambled eggs that oozed on the far side of the dish. He grimaced as he saw an odd amount of clear-ish goop, and narrowed his eyes. It was probably just the fact that they hadn't been mixed well enough, but even so, he was slightly put off. That was gross. Why didn't the people here try harder to make living without a family at least half-decent? Just as he was about to go in search of Miss Linda, the cook and cleaning lady, in hopes of making a complaint that would end with the promise of French Toast the next morning, the old guy who ran the place came in. Chris furrowed his brow. Normally, they waited to introduce new kids until dinnertime, when everyone was already there. It made it easier on the newbie, to make sure they weren't constantly being asked to reintroduce themselves.
However, this new kid seemed to be an exception, as the three made their way through the doorway. Chris shoved his plate away, fingers itching to grab his phone, and text his social worker. Dawson wasn't very good at his job of being a counselor, but he was good to have around if you wanted to possibly do something that wasn't allowed. Chris was ready to not be stuck in the building all day, not in the sweltering heat and boredom that would go along with it. There was nothing to do anyway. He half-listened as the kid was introduced, but didn't bother to commit the name to memory. Could this guy be any slower? He really just wanted to get out of the main room. And, of course, that was when he heard his own name. Chris was surprised that they were rooming together. Most of the kids at this orphanage were younger than them both, and the owners hated placing uneven ages together. However, he was not entirely thrilled to hear that he had been given the job of showing the kid around. Normally that fell to someone more...well, younger. Who had kinder things to say about the place. Chris, on the other hand, couldn't even remember the old guy's name; he'd always called him Mr. Clean.
He shifted uneasily. The boy didn't really looked like he was going to be a little ray of sunshine in the first place, and no one wants to be treated like they don't know anything. He chewed on his lip, trying not to overthink. He realised he hadn't taken his meds that day, and pursed his lips. The kids weren't allowed to keep their own meds. They had to go down to a special office, and sign a paper, and it was all to make sure that drugs weren't being abused, which he understood, but...he really hated going down there. Chris watched as the boy went through the line, clearly also not impressed by the food that was offered, which started to make him feel a little bad. He didn't like the eggs, but Miss Linda was nice, and she did her best. It wasn't her fault they were a government funded institution on a budget that didn't always quite stretch far enough. He dug his nail into a crack on the table, and flipped his phone over. Dawson had texted him, apparently they had a meeting today. It probably had to do with what he was going to do after he graduated, how much money his mom had left for him, and all the boring stuff. But they would probably chat in a coffee shop, which meant a free latte would be a nice addition to the day.
Chris pulled his attention back to the present as the boy started walking over. He smiled brightly, trying to be as polite as possible.
"Hey," he said. "Welcome to the seventh circle of hell, also known as Horizons. Don't worry, it's not as badd as it looks," he continued, his voice sort of wary.
He didn't want to make judgements too soon, and would rather base his own attitude off however the other reacted.

Calixto didn't even bother with most of the food. The only thing he even could think of eating was the eggs. They didn't exactly look the best either, but eggs were one of Calix's favorites, so therefore it was the only food there he could stand to look at. He also grabbed one piece of bacon just to satisfy whoever was watching so he didn't get made to have more of the disgusting food. Even though Calix had jumped from home to home often, he rarely had to spend time at the orphanages. So he wasn't used to the the poor quality of what he calls "orphan food". He's used to eating the better food that his "parents" would provide. Unfortunately that made him picky and ungrateful for any food that was less than ideal.
.
If it was possible, Calixto would have sat by himself somewhere in a dark corner. But fate had other plans, because the dining room was so small that he was forced to sit with the other kids. He decided to take his chances with the boy the old man had called Christopher, since he would have to put up with him eventually because they would be sharing a room. Calix figured he might as well get things over already and make the boy realize that he is to be left alone while staying here. All that he could hope for was that Christopher wouldn't be a goody two-shoes like alot of the adults in the foster program are.
.
Christopher's smile was blinding, and Calixto already regretted his decision to sit by him. Was it too late to abandon ship? Apparently it was, because Christopher started to talk, which meant he would have to unfortunately answer. Or did he have to? Maybe he could just ignore him and that would get the point across... No, it was just too mean, even for Calix. Besides, it would be a pain if Christopher complained about his behavior to the adults. If that happened who knows what the adults would do. He might get put with the younger kids, and that would be absolute torture. So atleast being semi nice to him would be the best option for now.
.
When Christopher called this place hell, it stirred just an once of positive feeling from Calixto. It wasn't really happiness or true amusement, but it was like the feeling Calix got whenever he ate his favorite food. Anyway, it didn't get him to smile, but his eyes softened just slightly. "Amusing." Calix muttered, mostly to himself. Although it seemed sarcastic coming from him since his face was practically unchanged, he truly meant it from the capacity he could feel. Alot of people think Calix is just making fun of them whenever he makes comments like these, so he's learned to just... not try. But for some reason, it came out of his mouth before he could stop it. Though if Christopher was anything like everyone he had met so far, he would think he was being mean as well. And that meant Calix had already ruined another possible friendship... not that he ever wanted one.
.
Knowing the inevitable was coming - the negative reaction to his dull compliment - Calixto looked down and started playing with his food, not even bothering to try and eat it.

Chris’s smile faltered for a fraction of a second as the boy didn’t respond, instead focusing intently on his plate as if it held the secrets of the universe—or maybe just a particularly bad memory. Chris didn’t need to be psychic to tell the new kid wasn’t exactly thrilled to be here, and honestly, who could blame him? Horizons wasn’t exactly Disneyland.
For a moment, Chris debated trying again. But the kid’s body language screamed, *Leave me alone.* Shoulders slightly hunched, his fork stabbing listlessly at the scrambled eggs like they’d personally offended him. Classic *I’d rather be anywhere but here* vibes. Chris let out a quiet sigh, leaning back in his chair and drumming his fingers lightly on the edge of the table.
“Great,” he thought. “They stuck me with the brooding type.” He wasn’t upset—really, he wasn’t. He just wished for once the staff would think about the fact that *he* wasn’t exactly a ray of sunshine either. Pairing two not-so-sunny people together? Genius.
Chris glanced at the new kid again, watching as he poked at his food without actually eating it. A flicker of guilt tugged at him. He’d been here long enough to know how overwhelming the first few days could be. Horizons wasn’t much, but it was still a lot to take in. And as much as Chris wanted to just shrug it off, there was a tiny, annoying part of him that didn’t want to let the guy flounder entirely on his own.
Chris stood, the legs of his chair scraping faintly against the floor as he pushed it back. He slid his phone into his pocket and grabbed his plate, hesitating just a second before turning toward the boy.
“You don’t have to eat that if you don’t want to,” he said, keeping his tone light and casual. “Miss Linda’s cool. You tell her the eggs aren’t your thing, and she’ll hook you up with something better tomorrow. Like, I don’t know, pancakes. Or Pop-Tarts if you’re lucky.”
The boy didn’t respond, his fork still aimlessly moving the food around. Chris shrugged, more to himself than anyone else, and jerked his thumb toward the door.
“Anyway, I’ll be in the rec room if you need the tour or whatever,” he said, his voice drifting as he turned and headed for the exit.
He didn’t look back to see if the kid followed. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn’t. Either way, Chris figured he’d done his part.

Calito was honestly a bit surprised when Christopher didn't respond to his one word reply. He should've blown up by now, right? But it was like he hadn't even heard it. And although his expression didn't change, he couldn't help but be a tad bit curious. Sure, he was numb alot of the time, but he still had feelings and being curious is part of human nature. So he glanced up for a second, trying to get a read on the boy infront of him. Except Chris happened to glance up at the same exact time. Calix quickly glared slightly before focusing on his plate once more. He had messed up. Being curious about his surroundings would be the first step to actually accepting this place. And he didn't want that - he didn't want to get attached when everyone would leave in the end. Because that's just how the world works. Eventually, everyone will leave you for dead.
.
Hearing Christopher stand, Calixto stayed listless in his chair, still playing with his food. He half listened to the other boy but didn't respond. It wasn't like he was about to tell him eggs were one of his favorite foods, he just didn't feel like eating because he thought he would react negatively to his earlier comment. That would be showing wayyy to much emotion and vulnerability. It would basically be admitting to the fact that the loneliness was starting to get to Calix. He wasn't going to bother getting the tour either. But then he remembered that if Christopher left, he would be alone with the little kids. Just one glance said the other kids were curious about him. And if Christopher left, Calix knew question-hell would break loose.
.
Calixto shoved a few spoonfuls of egg into his mouth before forcefully pushing the chair out and quickly standing up. He abandoned his barely consumed breakfast on the table as he went to catch up with Chris. When the boy came into view, he slowed his pace and acted as if he hadn't practically bolted out of the dining room, all to avoid having to deal with the innocent little brats inside. He casually stuck his hands in his pockets as he walked a few feet behind Christopher. "I think it would be best to atleast know my way around here." He stated matter-of-factly when he noticed Christopher glancing back at him, speaking his first ever sentence to the other boy.
.
As Christopher started the tour, Calixto followed him silently. He listened if he explained anything, giving a weak nod in response, but otherwise he just quietly looked around, mentally mapping out the area for future reference.

Chris wasn't terribly surprised that the kid ended up following him. The other children in the cafeteria were obviously excited to meet the new addition to Horizons, and from what he'd gathered about Calixto in the past few minutes was that he had no interest in trying to gain a lot of friends in the orphanage. The rec room was a few rooms down from the cafeteria, with a couple of beat up couches, a TV, and a variety of containers filled with toys for the younger ones along the walls. Chris had just settled himself into the corner of one of the least duck-taped chairs when the boy wandered into the room behind him, and made a comment about wanting to have basic knowledge of the building. Chris brightened significantly. He wanted to be liked, he always had, and he loved sharing what he knew about the staff, the rooms, and anything else he could think of. He gestured to the room that they were in, standing up.
"Well, this is the Rec Room," he said cheerfully. "Anyone is allowed to hang out here most of the time, but the kids under ten aren't after 8:30."
He made his way through the orphanage, pointing things out. Here was the kitchens, where kids technically weren't allowed to go, but Miss Linda didn't mind, as long as you weren't in the way, and would always slip you something to eat. Here were the offices of Mr. Clean, and a couple rooms for the social workers to meet with kids in. There was the cafeteria, where they'd already been, and there was the laundry facilities. There were the downstairs bathrooms, and that was all that was on the first floor. Chris made his way to the staircase, and climbed them with gusto, pointing out the things that were upstairs. It was mostly just bedrooms, so a lot less interesting than the lower floor, but that was okay. Those were the girl's dorms, and on the other side of the hall, the boy's. He was a little disappointed by the lack of an enthusiastic response to his tour, but it made sense, in the back of his mind. It wasn't fun to be a new kid anywhere, especially when you're old enough that you know you won't be adopted. The orphanage wasn't really amazing either, a place to live, but nothing special.
Honestly, Chris didn't have a problem with the knowledge that he probably wouldn't be adopted. He'd lived without his parents for essentially his whole life, and, according to his social worker, his father hadn't been in his life anyways. Chris wanted to say he missed his mom, but he didn't. He didn't remember her enough to miss her. He valued the pictures that he had of them together, and if asked, would say he loved her and was sad when he thought about her, but he was content. The orphanages and foster homes that he'd gone through had been fine, and he didn't even want to get adopted at this point. It just meant trying to go through one more adjustment before he could go out and be just Chris Walsh, not 'that poor boy' or any of the other things people liked to call him. He appreciated the sympathy, it normally meant he got attention or small gifts from old ladies, but it was fine. As he wrapped the tour up beside the room that he would now be sharing with the other boy, he smiled.
"That's about it, besides outside. Behind the building there's a garden, and out front there's a playground that you probably saw coming in. Anyway, I'm guessing you want to be left alone?"
