Calliope "Callie" Marrow

Age: 18
Gender: Female
Role: Princess of

Appearance
Calliope is the embodiment of feminine grace. Standing at a small 5'2", she's easily the smallest in the room aside from children. Her hair is chocolate brown, ending at her waist in soft curls. Her doe like eyes are a bright pop of blue, making a lovely constrast to her porcelain toned skin. She has narrow shoulders and a curvier waist.
Her cheek bones are high and her face is somewhat heart shaped with a button nose and plump lips. Calliope isn't afraid to smile, but she is truly radiant when it's more than just a pleasantry.

Personality:
Calliope is the quiet observant type, perhaps shy even. She's polite, always minding her manners in the public eye. However, when alone, she can be a bit of a menace. She's not scared to clap back with sarcastic remarks or stir the pot a little. Of course, she only gives other what they gave her first.
Calliope is rather sensitive, with her feelings being easy to hurt at times. She doesn't do well with anger being directed towards her, as it makes her shut down completely. Truth be told, she's a very sweet girl with a bit of spice.
Hobbies:
Horse Riding
Archery
Likes:
Cold weather
Animals
Winning
Cooking
Dislikes:
Rude individuals
Being alone
Being yelled at

Strengths:
Smarts
Archery skills
Decision Making
Weaknesses:

Calen Selke
Nickname:
Cal
Age:
19
Gender:
Male
Role:
Prince of (insert kingdom name)
Apperance:
Calen is a very intimidating individual. He stands at 6'4 feet in height, with broad shoulders and a muscular build.
His hair is a light blonde that falls to his shoulders, curling slightly towards the ends, contrasting with his eyes, blue around the outer edges that slowly fades to green towards the pupil. He light skin is tanned slightly from training outside in the sun.
Calen has a defined jawline with high set cheek bones, his lips set in a permanent line. It's very rare to see Calen smile, and when he does, it isn't normally out of humor.
Personality:
Calen is more reserved, liking to keep to himself and his thoughts. But he is by no means shy. When he does talk, he is taunting someone, contradicting someone, or something to that extent. He is the epitome of stubborn and cunning. He is great with weapons, as well as words, and has had lots of practice insulting people over the years.
Calen isn't as cruel or rude as he seems. Once you break through his hard exterior, he is very kind and caring. He learned early in life that being nice got you nowhere, and the only way to survive in this world was to be able to defend yourself.
Calen does not like to be told what to do, and will often do the opposite of what someone tells him just to spite them. He has a very, very short temper and will get angry very easily, something that often gets him in trouble.
Calen will only give respect where it is due, and until you prove to him that you deserve respect, he will give you none.

Prince Calen Selke looked around the ballroom in boredom. This was one of the many parts of court life he hated. The talking, attending dances and parties. If anyone had enough common sense, they wouldn't approach him in the first place.
He and his family had arrived only moments earlier, along with several other guests. He knew nearly everyone in the room, most of which he had never spoken too. He only knew them from the countless lessons he had endured over the last 10 years.
No one paid him any attention, something he was very grateful for. He was not in the talking mood today.
"Smile, son." His father whispered in his ear.
Calen scoffed, "Nice try." He had no interest in pretending he was enjoying this. All he was going to do until morning was watch everyone get drunk and refuse countless offers to dance. Calen hated dancing, as he had never caught on in the beginning, and had never bothered to learn. His younger sister, Justine, had excelled at nearly everything Calen had failed at. Besides combat of course. That was one of the only things he was remotely good at.
He tried to make himself at least focus on the conversation between his father and another man, but he wasn't even able to do that as his mind wandered.
(Sorry it's so short and bland, I had no idea what to put lol)

The young Princess Calliope entered the ballroom, following her parents with a gentle sway of her hips. She'd been looking forward to the ball all week, as dancing was one thing she truly fancied that was lady like. As she scanned the crowd, she picked out a few individuals that she knew, though she hadn't seen many of them in years. Calliope didn't need to be told how to act with a polite smile upon her face as well as a friendly aura about her. Calliope paused as her parents had slowed, obviously having found someone to speak to. As she peered around them, she was able to identify the Selke's and who she remembered to be their son, Calen. He seemed absolutely thrilled... not. Her father hadn't spared any time giving her a sneaky look to tell her to speak, which she had already began to do in the form of a small curtesy. "Good evening," she said, her voice smooth as silky as her gaze rose to meet his. He was much taller than she remembered...
(it's perfectly fine :) )

Calen thought he faintly noticed the family his mother and father were speaking too, but didn't think much of it. Until he heard a voice directed towards him.
Calen looked down his nose at the woman, Princess Calliope if he remembered correctly. They had met briefly a few years ago, not enough for Calen to retain any information about her.
Calen kept his mouth shut, not intent on making any new 'friends'. He tried to hide his grimace as his father elbowed him in the stomach, giving him a pointed look.
"To you as well." He said with some effort, turning his attention elsewhere.
Calen bit back a groan when his Justine stepped up next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Good evening, a lovely day isn't it?" She said lightly. Justine had a way with people, always managing to keep a conversation going or make friends easily. Another trait Calen didn't possess.
Calen shrugged off her hand, trying to keep his foot from tapping the ground in impatience. There were so many better things he could be doing right now.
The musicians started playing their instruments, couples already gathering to take the first dance. And this is where the misery started. Gushing young girls approaching him all night, asking to dance. He always refused them. It felt wrong being that close to someone that he had no knowledge of, and he would just make a fool out of himself anyways.

Calliope hadn't been surprised when the man hadn't spoke at first. She didn't know much of Calen, but she did remember him as a quieter one. Being an only child, Calliope was expected to uphold a number of expectations by her parents. She tried to do as they pleased in public, but at times she could find herself slipping into a feistier state. She nodded in response to Justine, "Indeed it is." One could see the light in Calliope's eyes when the musicians began to play. Her first glance had been to Calen, snickering to herself at how many girls had came his way. She wouldn't be one of them, afterall, she had plenty of her own suitors coming her way. She was took by the hand after agreeing to dance with a man who appeared to be in his early twenties. He was handsome and sweet, and so far he seemed to be light on his feet. Calliope was a good dancer, though she preferred to lead and that wasn't something that this particular man seemed fond of. It caused them to trip up on each other, but she did her best to still appear elegant. After that first dance, Calliope excused herself, returned to where her parents still mingled with Calen's. They seemed to be in deep conversation about something, but she couldn't get close enough to hear what they were keeping hush hush.

Calen scoffed to himself when some man he didn't know swept Calliope away. She looked strangely happy, something he did remember from a past visit. She always seemed in a good mood, something Calen couldn't understand. She's quite the actor. He thought to himself, turning back to his parents.
He couldn't hear what they were talking about, as they seemed to have side-stepped away from him and Justine. He didn't fail to notice the quick glances he got from his mother.
He rolled his eyes and turned away, watching the many dancers gathered around. He somewhat politely declined a young girl's offer to dance. The part that unnerved him was that most of these girls were at least two years younger than him, which just seemed completely wrong.
Justine was then guided to the dance floor with another man whom he didn't recognize. Realizing he was alone, he meandered over to a long table where some small finger foods and appetizers were kept, picking at some of the food.
The dance ended, and he caught Calliope wandered back over to where their parents conversed, obviously trying to listen in.
Calen jumped as Justine snuck up behind him. "Can't you at least act like you're having fun?" She asked, still breathless from the dance.
"You know I'm not one to pretend, Justine." He said gruffly. If one more person told him to have fun, he was going to leave without everyone.
"I bet Calliope wants to dance with you! You guys haven't talked in ages." Justine said, snagging a grape from the piles of food.
"Absolutely not. I hardly remember her, and you know I can't dance."
Justine opened her mouth to say something, but before she could Calen pressed a finger to her lips. "No, I don't want to hear it. Go find someone else to bother." He said, turning her around and pushing her the opposite direction. She turned around to glare at him, but thankfully kept walking.

Calliope had caught only a few things out of the conversation they'd been having. She'd heard her names and Calen's as well, but not enough to decipher what they were plotting. From the stolen glances she'd seen, she figured it wasn't anything she was going to like. Her attention was drawn away as she'd been asked to dance again, but she turned the man down, wanting a moment to breathe. She looked around, trying to find Calen. Surely he hadn't been convinced to dance with as many girls he'd turned down? There... She smiled to herself as her blue eyes fell upon him as he shooed his sister away. She found herself walking towards him, meeting him by the table as she grabbed a strawberry, taking and swallowing a bite before speaking. "I have reason to believe our parents are plotting against us," she mentioned, brushing a few loose strands of hair from her face. There was no telling what they were planning. It could be nothing, but she couldn't help but notice how they watched the two interact. Their parents weren't the only ones though that had their eyes on the pair. Young girls and guys seemed to be waiting for the moment that they'd depart from one another in order to ask for a dance.

Calen continued to pick at the food as another dance started. He didn't fail to notice Calliope approaching him.
He didn't pay her any attention as she grabbed a strawberry until she spoke.
They are always finding some way to ruin my life. He thought to himself before he responded.
"And what makes you think that?" He said, his voice bored. Calen had asked many times to let Justine inherit the throne, as she would be a much better ruler than him, and he didn't want to rule anyways.
His father had turned him down every time, insisting that he would be the heir.
He noticed his father staring at the them while his mother still talked. Calen met his gaze, which was unreadable. No indication of what they could be talking about. His father quickly looked away and went back to his conversation, probably planning a way to keep him shackled to the throne forever.
