Feel free to Post
It was a warm evening on the 5th of January 2065. Breaking news flashed on screens all across the country of America. A test study of the government had broken out and infected people with a terrible disease.The News tried telling people to not panic and calmly evacuate. Nocturnal, bedraggled, rotten-flesh smelling aggressive humanoid zombies-Is anyone not panicking? Let's be real, zombies are a big deal. Everyone panicked, grabbed what was needed and fled. Some people got left behind in the chaos. You are one of the left behind survivors and you've had a rough year of surviving. A single text message tells you there is someone who can help you in Texas. You need to get to Texas. Your only problem is swarms of zombies and 552 miles to travel. It's your only chance. Will you take it?
(Thanks to Khaos for helping me with this)

A chorus of pings across the state. Then everyone gathered together,well most did. Some stayed on their own, either ignoring the text or traveled to Texas in their own or the person they have survived a year of the American Zombie Apocalypse. JJ has finally got to the rest of the group, most of them have gathered with friends they have survived the past year with or just themselves. JJ survived the first year with Bastien, a friend of his and his dad for a few months until Bastein's dad died and the two teens lived and survived together until Bastein's ex,Tiras contacted Bastien about the group. They traveled to the where everyone had grouped together.
//
The group where all gathered in a building, most definitely an abandoned house. The lights are flickering from where the country's electricity generators were running out of power. Vines are crawling outside the white walled house and creeping through the window frames that still stand strong ,not allowing the glass windows to crumble or crack. Personal belongings have been taken from this house when everyone fled a year ago. All that was left after everyone left in the house in a year is long sofa and four armchairs. A small but sturdy wooden coffee table in the middle. The furniture has been dragged to a circle so everyone is facing each other across the coffee table or beside people.
//
JJ looks around the room, many people he knows as they live in the same area. He knows Bastien, and Tira,Bastein's ex but can't stop looking at the cute boy opposite him. Slightly messy red colored hair and a cute face,made cuter with white glasses. You realize you are staring at him and you avert your gaze if your green Hued eyes to the coffee table,still going strong unlike most kids that were left behind after the tvs flashes the breaking news across the whole country of America.

Clovis Emery Deiderich

17 | Female | M: Deamon(dir.), Everyone(ind.)

.

[ Dream ]

This can’t be happening. Please. Tell me it’s not happening.

Eyes widened psychotically while ripping her hair out, sat Clovis in the corner of an abandoned house. Pictures of Clovis with her family were hanging off one hook on the walls. Clovis rocked back and forth, only thinking about what her father would tell her. ‘You’re being a wuss, Clovis. You have a brother to protect. Stop hiding.’ Clovis was beginning to forget even his distinct booming voice. Her thoughts were cut short when she heard it. The groaning. The clawing at the door. The banging. Her widened eyes traveled to her bedroom door. They were trying to get in. Trying to get her. ‘Please. Make it stop.’ She had a katana hanging on her wall just across the room. It was a gift to her from her father. But she couldn’t bring herself to move.

The groans got louder. Clovis began to think they were trying to talk to her. She hid her face in the corner, screaming for them to stop. “Stop..stop..stop!” Tears slowly streamed down her cheek as she could only think of one thing at that moment. Her brother. Was he even still alive? Her eyes filled with rage. She had to get out. She had to get him. Clovis stood up and stared at the door menacingly, knowing it was going to break down any second. Her first instinct was to grab the katana just a few feet from her. Clovis leapt over her bed and grabbed the sword, uncasing it and revealing the long blade. “Come on, you fuckers.”

The door gave in. They all locked their eyes on Clovis, intentions being to tear her apart. Clovis, with no hesitation began slashing. One by one. Until they cleared the way. The woman stood up and looked down at the ugly bastards laying lifeless in front of her. A part of it gave her satisfaction, as insane as that sounds. Clovis couldn’t stand there anymore, she had to find him. She stepped over the bodies and inspected her house, pointing the sword around every corner. No sight of him. This burned even more rage in her. She opened the door to her brothers room and was caught by a big shockwave. Before she knew it, she felt a burning sensation on the side of her neck. The skin breaking, crunching, like she got bit.

[ Reality ]

Clovis snapped back to reality. Her breathing was slightly off due to the horror that played in her head. “Just a dream.” She said to herself. She wasn’t necessarily asleep, but she was daydreaming. Well, it was more like a nightmare. She still couldn’t process what was happening in the world. Yet, she had to accept it. And now she is traveling with a bunch of strangers in hopes of surviving. Though she kinda knew a few of them. Like, obviously her brother. He was her only pride and joy and her motivation to keep going. She would be damned if anything happened to him. Clovis was very close to Catalina as well. She believed they were distantly related, having both come from gang related backgrounds. Clovis got to know Bastien quite well, however, he gives her suspicious vibes. But she learned to push them aside as it’s probably because of the whole situation. Clovis seemed to get along with Aki quite well. He and his sister seemed to know how to hold their own together, which Clovis admired. And it reminded her of herself and Deamon.

Clovis also was acquainted with Blake a little bit. The two seemed quite similar, though she’s still trying to read him. Clovis had snapped her attention to her phone when she heard her ringer go off. It was a text. She pulled out her phone and read it, stating that there was someone that could help them. But they were located in Texas. “Texas?!” She exclaimed aloud. She’s ecstatic that there’s someone to help but they are all the way in Texas. Although, a part of her told herself not to trust it. After all, how reliable is this? I mean there’s flesh eating monsters running around. How much could they help them? They’ve survived this long without help, what could this person have to offer. Clovis decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. She made her way to her brother before patting him on the head and speaking. “Deamon, there might be someone who can help us in Texas. We have to go there. It’s going to be a long trip for sure, but whatever you do..don’t leave my side.”

Clovis feels bad at times for how harsh she comes across with Deamon. But it’s for his safety. She is now responsible for him and will not hesitate to slaughter any potential danger towards him. Deamon and Clovis are the last standing in their family. She will do whatever she can to make sure he makes it. Although soon, she does need to teach him how to defend himself in case he gets caught in any situation where Clovis isn’t there. But she hopes that never has to happen. It wasn’t a doubt that the apocalypse began to make Clovis go slightly mad. After all, what are the odds that people can just come back from the dead. But they aren’t alive. Undead cannibals. It sounds crazy by itself.

She had wondered if the others got a text as well. Clovis stood relatively close to her brother as she observed the others, noticing their demeanors and mannerisms. That could tell her if they received the same text message. Clovis wasn’t sure if she’d be able to handle this group on a long trip to Texas. But she had to do what was necessary. So far, everybody seemed alright. But Clovis didn’t want to jinx herself. Trust is a very rare thing nowadays. Even your own family can turn on you at any moment. Though, she knew Deamon would never, it was simply a general statement.

William Blake Carter

18 [] Male [] Mentions: No One; Open

Dull gray eyes overlook a dirtied page. Liquid stains the pages brown, the edges slightly torn, and yet to the writer, it's as good as gold. A candle burns, the only light within the dark room, it's faint light a beacon within a mausoleum of immense thoughts. Sitting upon the floor is a young man, blonde of hair and concentration deep… He writes.

'Darkness surrounds light.

The candle will die slowly.

I fear, so will I.'

He looks at it, displeasure growing on his features with each passing moment.

"It's a bit on the nose", he internally murmurs… But the uncertainty of life was a fact too well known to William Blake Carter.

Who would have guessed a year ago the Dead would rise? That life as all had known it would suddenly falter, shatter into dust and drift away in the wind. He once had been sitting in a classroom worrying about Chemistry Finals, and here he was sitting in some dark, damp hole that he called a room. Surrounding him in separate rooms where… Fellow Survivors, he supposes. He hadn't been with the group for very long, a little less than a few weeks, and already he was growing increasingly weary of them…

He set down his pen, eyes closed as he exhales sharply. He feels his muscles relax, releasing all tension, and a wave of exhaustion settling upon him. It had been a long night. A night of constant reminders on the truths of the life he lived in excruciatingly vivid detail. Yesterday hadn't done little to alleviate these bleak reminders… Seeing people die so horribly, eaten alive by those that once were human. Blake huffs, eyes opening as his gaze drifts to the right, settling upon a small metallic object sitting upon his satchel…

A spork.

"You know as well as I, I'd rather take my own life than die that way…", he states to no one in particular. The screams alone had told him all he needed to know. He reached over, picking up the stainless steel utensil, gray eyes mulling over every imperfection gifted by time. Rust began to gather upon the sharp point when it's fork half dwelled and the spoon had many dents. His eyes would follow every crevasse and imperfection within the metal, before finally setting the utensil down gingerly. His hand would fumble in the dark for his pen once more. He'd write.

'The shackled memory.

Your evil lurks, shadow roams.

I must destroy you.'

Good. A promise. Leaning back, he'd reach for his satchel, returning the pen and spork. He'd chose to write as a means to settle himself, but all it did was push his thoughts deeper into his daily walks with the macabre. Running a hand over his face, he hadn't even registered the trembling of his fingers till they made contact with his face… Feeling slowly returning to him, like someone dumping cold water upon him. His throat was dry, his eyes strung, everything still felt raw after yesterday's supply run.

He'd seen a person. A complete stranger exiting a convenience store. He had wanted to approach them, greet them kindly, but those thoughts had been immediately ravaged as quickly as they came with the sickening sound of jaws snapping shut upon their throats. The clacking of teeth. Those cold unfeeling eyes. The gray rotting flesh. God. How was it real?... And it had all happened in a matter of seconds. Swarmed by flesh eating creatures like flies…

Screaming. It was the only real detail he could thoroughly recall in the brief seconds. Judging by the pitch it was either a woman or a young boy… Their height was all too telling.

"No, Blake. Stop it. You couldn't have done anything, but get yourself killed…", he mentally chides. But every waking moment after seeing that. He could only wonder. Recalling other people he'd seen die over the past year. It was always gut wrenching, like a sick fantasy beyond human understanding. Mortality. The greatest joke that nature liked to pull upon Humanity… Especially now, ironic. We die only to bring forth more deaths. He was never a drinker, such things dulled the senses, and he preferred to stay of sound mind… But letting the memory fade didn't sound unappealing.

Then again, why spend so many hours writing? Why write so many small memos, his thoughts and feelings? He truly didn't want to-...

A loud electronic alarm rung out, not to dissimilar to the AMBER alerts that played when people had went missing. It startled him, though he'd never admit to actually leading from his seated position.

A phone alert?

His phone… It had gone off. A message. He could only stare in fascination as the alarm blared to life once more. Then a third. Then silence. Blake had a flabbergast expression, slowly approaching his bag. He had never expected this… Cell Service? Does it actually work, still?

As smart as Blake was in a handful of fields, technology involving radio waves wasn't one of them. During the beginning of the Crisis, the phone lines had been downed… To hear an alert was odd. Reaching into the worn out fabric bag tentatively, he fished out the device with shaking hands… Mild hope building.

'...Sanctuary for the Living...'.

'...Welcoming All...'.

'...Texas...'.

He read. His eyes scanned the electronic words, eyes narrowing with scrutiny before widening in disbelief.

"Holy shit...", he spoke aloud, his mouth agape at this very sudden and potentially life altering news. He was sure others in the house had heard his voice, not that he cared. Judging from the sudden buzzing of phones across the building, he was certain the feelings would soon be mutual. In a stunned daze, he turned from his room, and exiting towards the main common area...

Discussion would certainly be inevitable.

[Here. We. Go.]

Raiden Zenith Lucca
They/Them | 16 | nearly everyone [ind],
-
A person who sleeps is a weak and defenseless person. A phrase they they knew to well having seen people turn on each other with a click of their fingers and being in this strange house with basically strangers they weren't risking taking a long sleep. They already had a small snooze earlier and would much rather keep watch for anything.
-
Looking at the group they were in there was some people who seemed more exciting or a bit more interesting then others in Rai's mind. The girl with the kinda red hair Cat they think that was their name they seemed quite interesting and their kind relationship with their brother definitely made them a good person in Raiden's books as of now. They valued family and even though they had no siblings their mum was their heart and joy and_ enough about her this apocalypse is stupid already. Cat's sibling definitely seemed interesting Aki they think Cat called them whatever though Rai would probably have to learn sooner or later though being stuck together and all. They did not know if they could trust this group yet but with a smaller chance of survival on their own they would have to be willing to take the risk with this group. Though they had their trust bat right next them at every moment as especially after this apocalypse hit you never knew who would turn on you.
-
Not wanting to go outside though they sat the closest to a window and tried to see what was outside as best as they could. No zombies yet but you could never be sure about anything. Quickly they snapped their attention to their phone when they heard a noise coming from it as nothing happened on the phones much anymore. A text appeared as the screen opened and someone could finally help them? They quickly looked around to see if anyone else had got it maybe they were the only one and it was just a prank text or a joke or a-
“Texas?!”
Wait they weren't the only one to get this so maybe it wasn't fake maybe they could finally be safe! Quickly looking at the person who said it they were on their phone so maybe it was true or maybe it wasn't they could only hope it was a safe place sounded wonderful. Someone else must have got it from the sounds of someone swearing though they couldn't be sure if that was the case or something else though if they remembered correctly they heard more pings go off then only their phone so surely that must mean everyone else got it and a safe place could exist.
-
Quickly looking at everyone else to see if anyone but Clovis? They think their name was maybe they couldn't be sure right now but anyway looking at everyone else it seemed a few people had checked and it seemed by what they had heard the maybe Clovis say to another red headed person who sememd way to innocent to be here that they were both going so maybe they would go and just maybe that safe place existed and they could all be safe somewhere. Well Looking at everyone in the main room and seeing someone else walk in they knew a conversation was probably going to happen and that was the one part they did not want to have they would definitely prefer the silence than knowing they all needed to talk well this is either going to go good or bad and Rai was waiting for the silence to shatter all because of a dam text.

Louis || 17 || Male || He/Him || M: Most (Ind)
~~~~
He didn't know exactly why, or how, he came to be where he was now. But then again, it was a mystery. Ever since the announcement, the screaming, the crying, the loss, Louis wasn't sure what to do. Zombies, lurking, once human, once loved, were now hunting them down, craving human flesh.
~
Louis was sitting in the corner of a small house, a known safeplace, as they called them. He was on a chair, blue, plastic, and hard, like what you sat on for assembly's in school. But that felt like a long time ago now. He was with others, in this house. Some were in different rooms, some were sitting right next to him. That didn't matter though. They were all strangers. Not a single person he knew, no enimies, no friends, no acquaintances. Louis was well, and truly alone.
~
Out of his track pants pocket, he took out an old Swiss Army knife. It had been his father's before he had passed. It was one of the only things he had left of him. He pulled out a small knife appliance from the knife, and turned around to the wall behind him. It was painted white, and some of it was peeling away, exposing the wall behind it. Louis took the knife, and carefully chizled out his name in the wall. Then, with some careful consideration, he carved the date beneath it, and wrote the words, The essence of living, is the only thing you figure out before you die. It was a quote, from one of Louis' favorite movies, and he recited in his head almost daily. Then, regretting his decision to write the date, he scratched off that section of the wall vigorously, exposing the brownish wall behind the paint.
~
Leaning back down too check his bag, he stuffed his knife in one of the side pockets. Then, he took out a photo. It was one he looked at nearly every day, yet it still made his eyes well up every time he looked at it. Not that he cried often, of course. This photo was different though. It was a photo that his dad took, of Louis and his best friend, Chris, right before Chris passed away from leukemia. He was 12 at the time. It was hard to believe that was nearly 5 years ago, but I suppose it was reassuring that Chris didn't have to live through this, Louis reasoned with himself. Kissing the photo gently, he put it away, folding in carefully into a container in his bag. He then fished out a musli bar, and took a giant bite. He was ravenous.
~
*Brrrrrr* Louis looked down, at what was making the noise. It seemed to be only one beep, and it sounded a bit like a phone notification. No, that was impossible, Louis shook off the though. Even so, he fished back down into his bag. He took out his phone. At that point, he merely kept it as a keepsake, as there was hardly any places to charge it, nor cell service. However, Louis was surprised to see a notification pop up on his screen. He unlocked his phone, and checked his messages. "What?" Louis said under his breath. Then, he heard similar expressions of surprise throughout the room. Texas... Maybe. As he read the text, Louis' eyes grew wider and wider. Safety? A community? It seemed to good to be true. Deciding to speak up, his voice quavered in the silence.
~
"Texas? How about it eh?"
Catalina Callieste Kafes-Mintz
| 17 | Female | M: Aki, Clovis (dir) Deamon, others (ind)
Catalina sighed, watching as her mother swayed in her father's arms. Ray and his girlfriend mirrored them, both grinning brightly. The music was soft, but even Aki was humming along with the melody. Smirking, Catalina noticed Ray finally pull Natalie away, pulling something out of his pocket and kneeling.
"Raymond Kafes-Mintz, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do."
"Natalie Redding, do you take this man as your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
"Kitty, Natalie had a daughter, and I want you to be her godmother. There is no one I would trust more with my baby girl than you. Her name is Nina Calliste."
v
Blinking her eyes open, Catalina eyed her brother. His eyes were closed and his face was relaxed, but she knew by his posture and the line in his shoulders, he was awake and aware of the others in the safe house. "Anyone new come in?"
"Negative."
Catalina hummed, glancing at each person in the room. The only one she had any prior knowledge of was Clovis - her mother Nahira had mentioned a cousin branch of the gang and one of the girls was the same age as Cat. Clovis fit the profile to a tee.
Though, she was clinging to a younger redhead, and Nahira knew nothing about Cat's cousin having a sibling, so maybe not.
Besides those two, there were several other people in the room. One was a blond boy playing with an Army knife, another was a thin, dark-haired boy.
Akira cleared his throat, moving to sling his arm over Catalina's right shoulder and plant his chin on her left. "I don't think many of these guys have combat experience, Aki. We should ditch."
Aki's hands flew up to box at her ears, and Catalina smacked him away. "Cat, we should stick around. Who knows what skills they might have. Besides, I know you miss traveling with other people."
Catalina sighed, pulling a pistol from her waistband to eject the magazine, "I thought I told you not to talk about them. It was four months ago. Drop it." Akira patted her back and leaned away. "Okay. I'm going to go mingle."
In sync, both Catalina and Akira's phones vibrated in their pockets.
The Sanctuary for the Living is open and welcoming all to join our ranks in Texas. Please, lend us your strength in this battle against the undead.
"Cause that's not cryptic at all." Aki mused, as a "holy shit," came from the blond boy on the floor. "Hey, did anyone else get this weird text? Saying to go to Texas?"
v
"I'm so sorry."
Clovis Emery Deiderich
17 | Female | M: Everyone(dir.)
Clovis was seen cleaning her katana blade off. The dried, red blood came clean off. She hated looking at it. Clovis then slid the long sword back in its sheathe. She was fully aware that Deamon possessed no weapon. Though she couldn’t tell if that was a good or bad thing. Well, he needed something to protect himself with. Perhaps with one of Clovis’ daggers? The thing about Deamon is he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Hopefully this situation changes that about him. It worried Clovis to the bone. All she could think about at that moment was the text. A sanctuary in Texas? She was still unsure about it. But it’s worth a shot.
The female’s head turned as a couple others joined in with them. One being Blake, if she remembered correctly, then Cat and Aki. Clovis looked up as she heard one of them ask if they all received the same text. Clovis threw her katana strap over her, the katana placed perfectly on her back, as she stood up. “Yeah I got it.” She said with a confident tone. “I don’t know how reliable it is, but it wouldn’t hurt to travel there.” Clovis ensured. “I’ve already made up my mind that me and my brother will be making our way to Texas. It’s a long trip, but anyone is free to join us if you’d like. The more people, the better protection we’d have against these monsters.” She said as she looked down at her brother.
Her eyes darted towards Cat. The auburn hair and green eyes were very distinct. Clovis had heard before that they were possibly cousins. Surely Cat and her brother would join them. As Clovis surveyed the room, her eyes locked on one person to another. There were a couple of younger kids, possibly a few years younger than Clovis, maybe the same age as Deamon. Clovis couldn’t leave them behind. Besides, it might be good for Deamon to have others around his age. But that also meant more people to try to protect. There were a couple others that seemed kinda stand offish. Although, Clovis had made herself clear that if they want to tag along, they can, but it is not forced.
This trip could be dangerous. Clovis was not necessarily worried about the zombies. She was worried about the people they might come across on the way to Texas. Clovis has learned, in her time of being involved in this apocalypse, that people can be just as ruthless. Luckily for Clovis, she wouldn’t hesitate to put them out of their misery. Clovis grabbed her bag that contained necessary essentials inside. She had a spare dagger, some first aid supplies, a couple of snacks, and a water bottle. It wasn’t much but she could always take a supply run if she needed to.
Clovis’ attire was matched specifically for combat related situations. She had on a long black sleeve with grey cargo pants and black combat boots. Although she would need to find something more appropriate for the weather. It was going to be hot for sure and Clovis just didn’t feel like having a heat stroke while trying to fight off flesh eating creatures. She looked down at Deamon once more before raising her head to look up at the diverse group of people standing before them. She had only hoped that they could be able to handle their own. Clovis was confident in her own abilities but were unsure about the others. However, she didn’t want to doubt them. They could surprise her.
Blake's mind was a jumbled mess. Thoughts danced through his head, crashing around and echoing to the point of nausea... The contradictory nature of this message changed everything and nothing at the same time.
How curious.
As he made his way down the dusty hallway of the house, he could hear voices on the otherside, already talking over the Elephant in the Room.
...
"Exodus, beyond.
The beggers and thieves wonder.
Was our fate sincere?".
...
The thought was a logical one. The Texas State Border if he was correct was over five hundred miles west. Five hundred miles of Highwaymen, disease, dehydration, starvation, a severe lack of coverage from the elements, and the Undead. It would be perilous, and death was certain.
"... But a Sanctuary?...", He murmurs.
He hates that his first thought upon even considering that was the potential for running water, but dammit if a shower didn't sound appealing. A shower with warm water to wash away all this dirt, blood, and scars. No longer would he bathe in a lake or with a bucket, he could finally just be.
A warm bed... Finally a full night of sleep. Maybe then He could push away any of his fears? Maybe then He could try and let go?
Just a little bit more food. Finally, he wouldn't always have small pains in his stomach, never being enough. Living subsisting off of garbage and... His thoughts waver, and his breath hitches. He pauses just about the enter the Common Room, he can feel bile rising in his throat and he gags.
"No. No, Blake. Don't go down this hole again... Think about the good things. The Moon over Atlantic. The Sunrise out in the Blue Ridge Mountains. That first sign of Spring. There is still good things...", his mind chants.
There is still good things.
Slowly, he forced himself to settle, taking a moment to calm himself.
There is still good things, and good things to come.
If he takes this chance, pursues this journey on the hopes of a Maybe... It would all mean something, but there was a dark voice within his mind's eye. That logical part of him that could only ask, "At what cost?".
~
Blake enters to Common Room.
Tired eyes scanning around, they land on Clovis... Immediately his eyes twitch upon seeing the girl. She'd been speaking and by the looks of it, she was being her typical hard-ass self. Still, despite his adverse demeanor towards her, Blake knew she could back up her bravado.
"Poor Daemon", he mutters. Clovis and Blake from the very moment Blake had joined the group, had gotten on as well as oil and water. The girl was very abrasive, and had no faith in anyone or anything... Well, that was accept for her brother and... Catalina.
They were an odd pair. So similar that often times Blake sometimes got their names mixed up, and this wasn't even his fault truly. They were almost always together. Peas in a pod. The most irritating peas to ever pod. It's times like this that remind him of a certain fact of life.
As Alan Grant had once said, "... They do move in herds...". Indeed. Girls were definitely pack hunters.
Blake audibly sighed as he entered the room, making his presence known.
"... Good morning everyone. I see your just as marveled as I am...", he greets blandly, whether it be from a lack of enthusiasm or general exhaustion up to their interpretation.
Finishing his quick inspection of the room, it seemed Raiden, Akira, and Speak of the Devil... Catalina... were all present. He nodded, having a lay of the land, so to speak, and took a seat close to the door. He was silent for several seconds, getting comfortable in his chair, which was a rather daunting task...
There was a loud grating scrapping sounds of plastic on the floor as the chair moved under his added weight and then, he spoke.
"... And how do you expect for us to get to Texas, Clovis?", he questioned.
