It is a sunny, early morning. It is very windy, the sea is very choppy))
Elijah Phoenix | Dragon Tamer | Male | M: Open
-
Elijah held tight onto his Ice-Cutter as she windsurfed across the water. Her wings were spread and aiming backwards, much like a penguin sliding on its belly. Wind whipped past Elijah's face savagely, and he squinted against the bright sunlight. He was bent over Atayi's neck as an attempt to decrease drag, with Zai perched on his back. Even though the wind was harsh while windsurfing on Atayi, it was the quickest way to get to Conifer. Conifer was where the best dragon tack was sold, and it was time Atayi had new. The tack that was on the silver Ice-Cutter was faded from hours in sunlight and was falling apart. Elijah clutched Atayi's reins tightly, beginning to pull back on them as the faint outline of an island came into view. It was steadily growing larger as the cold seawater splashed up onto Elijah's shoes. He pulled the reins back and Atayi slowed into a stop at the island, her body sinking into the sea. She began treading water as she waited for Eli to get off.

Thea Norton | Dragon Freer | Female | M: Open!
Thea pulled her hood up further on her head, making sure it hid her face as she pushed past people. She had just passed a building with several 'wanted' posters stapled to the wall. Among theives, a couple of those posters had her face on it, reading 'WANTED-Information on female dragon freer, send a letter to Daphne with whereabouts-REWARD! REWARD! REWARD!' Thea huffed. You get used to seeing your face on wanteed posters after awhile, although it still gave her chills that the authorities were looking for her. For freeing dragons, of all things! Why was that illegal? Thea did not know. No matter, she was only in town for a little while, for supplies. She had run out of first-aid things yesterday, and it was never good to run out of first-aid supplies, especially when you have a job that includes having several scratches. She wandered into a building and browsed the shelves, picking out her things. Walking to the desk, she placed her items onto the surface and dug a few silver pieces out of her pocket. After paying, she murmured a quick 'thank you', and stepped back onto the streets.

Vincenzo Ellis | Serpent-Tongue | Male | M: Lumi (Filae, Delingg)

Wind. Of course it was windy. Vinnie narrowed jade green eyes against the breeze for a long moment before he rubbed his face and sighed, urging Filae forward carefully. The slim pearly beast took a few steps forward before spreading her wings out with a bright sweep. She leapt forward, dipping down and swept along the ground for a moment before taking her flight upward and into the sky. Amber eyes scanned around for a long moment before she huffed in disdain. "Of course, someone in trouble."

Delingg's dark head popped up from his spot curled around Vinnie's thin waist. The sheer thought of trouble? Oh he liked that much. "Who?"

Filae scoffed, jerking her nose upward and drifted away before Vinnie pulled her around, tugging at the bridle before sighing. Well, if it got him killed, it'd be for a good cause. "Them--"

"I'm not getting involved," Filae protested, her chin high and full of distaste. "That is a rider-less dragon and therefore, they can handle their own." She flapped her wings a couple times, tail lashing back and forth as her amber eyes scanned the mottled white winterwinder for a moment before reluctantly following Vinnie's desire.

She whipped downward, tucking wings in as her claws outstretched, wrapping around the smaller dragon and shot upward again. Hardly more than a pearlescent blur in the eyes of whoever was after her. It didn't take long for Filae to land on a small clearing a good ways away and drop the creature with a disdainful scoff. "Be careful next time, kid," she rolled her amber eyes and turned away.

"Are you lost?" Vinnie prompted, still nestled in the saddle of his Wind dancer.

Thea Norton | Dragon Freer | Female | M: Vinnie and Lumi
-
Thea swept her hair out of her face impatiently, wishing beyond belief that it would just stay put. She heard a dragon call for help and looked up sharply, her hood falling backwards. Without noticing her hood was now gone, she spotted a Winterwinder and watched it intently. Just as she saw it be snatched out of the sky by a Wind Dancer there was a collective gasp around her. Glancing at the people who were now staring at her, she finally noticed her face was in sight. "Shit-" She murmured. Clapping her hands together, she announced to the people, "Right. You didn't see anything. Bye!" Thea began to run, shoving past people and threatening to take out her dagger at the ones who were blocking her way. She sprinted, making a shrill whistle. A navy blue Tidalwing with lighter blue whorls on his wings emerged, landing next to her. He immediately took off as soon as she was settled on his back. "Over there! We need to see what that Wind Dancer did," She pointed. Sebastian nodded and headed towards a clearing. It took longer for Sebastian to get there than it took the Wind Dancer, for obvious reasons. He had barely landed beside the two dragons before Thea slid off his back, waving her dagger furiously. "What did you do that for?" She scolded the Wind Dancer. "You could have hurt that poor Winterwinder!" Thea was focused planting herself between the Winterwinder and the Wind Dancer, she did not notice the human on the Wind Dancer's back.

Juniper Grenleff | Demi-Boy | 22 | Serpent-Tongue Speaker | M: n/a

Juniper groaned groggily as Pavi nudged the side of his face, her nostrils flaring as she sighed softly onto them. Juniper was known for sleeping on Pavi, his best friend and thunderous dragon whom he had grown up with, while he watched after the sheep. Most of the dragons knew better than to attempt to steal and eat the sheep that Juniper watched over, but Juniper’s family had decided, just as a precaution, that Juniper would watch over the sheep twice a week. Juniper’s older siblings, Henry, Fala, and Daksha, took care of the sheep on other days while Juniper found something else to do with his time. Even though Juniper was supposed to be on duty, this time was always his most carefree and relaxing, much easier than negotiating treaties between the three groups of Terrors that lived in the valley while still tending to the garden, convincing Tidalwings to get out of the pond in the western end of the valley and the rivers and streams that led to the crops, or raking the indoor stalls for the dragons.

Well, it would be easier if Pavi could let Juniper sleep.

Juniper rolled onto their side with a huff, squinting at the light as Pavi moved her wings and stopped shielding them from the sun’s rays. Groaning more, Juniper batted Pavi’s head away weakly as she tried to wake him from his peaceful nap. After ignoring her warnings twice, Pavi huffed, gave a few angry chirps, and touched her horn to Juniper’s skin, causing him to jolt away from her electric touch as he yelped quietly.

What was that for??” Juniper shrieked as he sat up, rubbing his neck where he’d been hit.

Lunch!” Pavi huffed before standing and stretching her back and her wings out, nearly hitting Juniper in the process. “I smell it.

Oh well why didn’t you just say that to begin with?!” Juniper shot back as Pavi shook out her scales with a yawn. While Juniper dusted his pants and shirt, Juniper narrowed his eyes at his dragon. “You didn’t have to electrocute me. You’re so mean to me. Evil actually! A menace!!” “And you’re a big baby.

I am not a big baby, you rude little—

Biiiig baby!” Pavi nudged her head into Juniper’s chest with happy clicks and clucks and Juniper glared but couldn’t help a laugh as they scratched a certain spot behind her ears which caused Pavi to flop over onto the ground in delight. Juniper’s face seemed to be beaming as he laughed and rubbed her belly. Pavi’s tongue hung out of her mouth as her tail wagged excitedly from the attention, her chest rumbling with chirps.

“You may be annoying, but you’re cute,” Juniper giggled softly as they stopped speaking Serpent’s Tongue and accidentally slipped back into their second language, English. Pavi sat up once Juniper stopped petting her and pulled out their horn. “You ready to call the others for lunchtime?”

Pavi’s blue eyes grew dialated at a single word, “lunchtime,” before nudging Juniper more and more until he finally hopped onto Pavi with a chuckle. Juniper slipped on their metal gloves before clasping onto Pavi’s back spikes, making sure that they were holding onto their friend firmly and leaning forward before she took flight. With only a few bounds and leaps, Pavi was able to burst into the air and fly above the fields.

The valley Juniper lived in, with mountains surrounding the land, used to be home to roughly a hundred or so dragons before people stopped coming to adopt them from their home. It was home to all sorts of dragons in all sorts of conditions. Blind Twisterwings, deaf Frill Wyrms, and plenty of dragons without limbs. Overtime, as people stopped coming, essentially forgetting the valley entirely, and the family kept rescuing dragons who ventured near, the population steadily grew to 319 as of two weeks ago when three new babies hatched (though this number does not count for the five eggs the triplets found in the woods a few days ago nor the Terrors that lived in three separate hives across the valley as to not spark their territorial instincts). Now, the lush valley with tall grass, a glistening pond, a small cave in the side of the Northern mountain, and even devices that change the weather of a certain area for Twisterwings and Winterwinders alike, the valley was a bountiful, secluded area where the Grenleff’s and the dragons constantly buzzed about.

Juniper lifted their horn to his lips, sucking in a deep breath, before the bellow of his low horn soon filled the valley and seemed to shake the earth itself. Juniper could hear all the dragons bellow, looking up to the skies and at Juniper and Pavi, as they whispered and called, “food?” or, “eating time?

Lunchtime!!!

From that single word, dragons came flocking from the fields and pond, crawling from the caves, and flying from the icy hills. If you haven’t seen over three hundred dragons race to a cabin in the middle of a large valley, you haven’t lived.

Freya Rouge | Female | 24 | Dragon-Rustler | M: n/a

Freya sighed as she slipped off of Sylvi. She was starving. It wasn’t fair that she had to patrol town to search for dragon-freers and ask about rogue dragons before she could go and eat. Of course, she took her job very seriously, but it didn’t help that both Hayden, her Sniffer, and Hunter, her Stinger, were incredibly hungry as well, so hungry, in fact, that they refused to move off of Sylvi, Freya’s massive bone crusher who was larger than any other Freya had seen. Freya gently kissed a small soft spot on Sylvi in between her armor with a smile and the dragon let out a heavy sigh in response, leaning into her hand.

“You’re so well behaved,” Freya cooed softly as Sylvi grunted in response. “Let’s go to the market and get you all something to eat. If anyone asks, we are purely there for business reasons.” Sylvi seemed to like that idea as she licked the side of Freya’s face gently. Freya never smiled but this curved a grin to her lips.

Freya walked silently through the streets with her dragon following behind her. Some people shrank away at the sight of the dragon-rustler who was not afraid to have her gun prominently revealed on her hip. She was sure that at least some of the residents here were involved in criminal activity of some sort, but she was too focused on the idea of food that she didn’t care to investigate them further.

Vincenzo Ellis | Serpent-tongue | Male | M: Lumi, Thea (Filae, Delingg)

Filae flicked her talons distastefully, rolling amber eyes before taking a few steps. It wasn't more than a few seconds later than an annoyingly blue beast dropped down and deposited--ugh. A human? Disgusting. Furthermore, she began berating her? The offense was clear in Filae's curled lip of distaste.

Her tail whipped around for a long moment before she let out a short sound. "Excuse me?" Filae's clear sound of absolute venom was evident in her tone. "You're assuming this was my idea to begin with. Could've hurt--oh do yourself a favor an' buzz off would ya? Some of us have more important things to do."

She turned tail, jerking her lofty pearly chin upward as Vinnie slid down, stepping in front of Thea with his pale and gangly arms outstretched to keep her from doing much. He hoped. "It's okay, it's okay. The WinterWinder was in danger--the prison things I don't know much about them. I just know there were nets, angry men and a scared dragon," his jade eyes scanned Thea for a long moment.

He tilted his head briefly. "Have I seen you somewhere?" She seemed... vaguely familiar. Vaguely. He shook his head again, tossing ginger hair before adjusting his glasses. "No matter, it's alright. I was just helping her."

Filae scoffed and stalked off, already rubbing her claws together as if to clean them off. Delingg, wrapped around Vinnie, gave Thea and Sebastian a small challenging look--as if to say; 'what're you gonna do about it?'

"I think it's lost, I don't know," Vinnie glanced toward the smaller dragon. "You're scaring it for sure though."

He bit his lip before sighing. "Hey, it's okay, we're not here to hurt you."

Thea glared at the dragon, opening her mouth to continue scolding. Her voice died as she watched a human slide off the Wind Dancer's back. A bolt of panic flashed through her chest as the man asked if she was familiar. "No, no I don't think so. I just have on of those faces." She muttered quickly, "Uh-huh. Right." Watching as the man approachd the Winterwinder, she reached backwards towards Sebastian and made a small hand gesture. Sebastian, who was bothering the Winterwinder by squinting at it aggressively, immediately stopped and lifted his head to let out a bellowing roar. Thea rubbed the bridge of her nose, exhaling. "Great. Just great. Some peace-loving Serpent Tongue speaker that doesn't have the guts to actually help dragons." There was a hissing, crackling sound and a purple Dwarf Lightning Runner appeared, keeping his tail raised carefully to avoid burning it.

Elijah climbed off of Atayi' back, Zai clutching tightly at his shirt. Atayi lifted out of the water and landed a little ways away, shaking the water off her scales. They began walking, as buildings became more and more frequent. Suddenly the roads were small, and large buildings were all around him. Wanted posters with faces of poor souls were on many buildings, dragon freers, thieves, Midnight Market sellers, you name it. He was finally in Conifer. People gave his dragons apprehensive glances as he walked through the streets.

Juniper Grenleff | Demi-Boy | 22 | Serpent-Tongue Speaker | M: n/a

Within a few powerful strokes of her wings, Pavi had brought Juniper back to the small cabin they called home. Although, the more Juniper studied it, it was not so small after all. It had two floors, three if you count the small tower that was built into the side of the cabin just for the triplets, and the wood stood the test of time as vines crawled up the sides of the building. Flower beds rested just outside the door under a small balcony where more flowers and flora and warm lanterns hung from. The chimney, made of cobblestone and built with care by Juniper’s great-great-great grandma, was puffing smoke as the scent of chole and fried flatbread floated through the air. Next to his home, was a long barn that seemed to be made of different types of wood the further away you got from the entrance because of the amount of times the barn needed to be expanded.

Paaaaviiiii!” Daksha, Juniper’s older sister, called from the entrance to the barn, a wooden bucket resting on her hips. Daksha was always the one to feed the dragons at lunchtime and, even now, two of the Polarwings clawed at her for more food. Her hair was braided loosely and hung over her left shoulder as mud caked onto her overalls and green shirt she had rolled up. She had a small gap between her teeth that could be seen even from afar when she gave her warm smiles just like Dad’s. “Come get your food before Uylia and Quilby eat it for you!

My food!!” Pavi shrieked before bounding over at top speed, not even slowly down as she shoved her head into the wooden bucket in Daksha’s hands.

Woooooow,” Juniper grumbled, tossing their hands up with a dramatic huff, “you didn’t even say goodbye!” Pavi craned her neck to look at him with a mouthful of food while her tail wagged wildly. It looked like she might actually say something, but she just shoved her head back into the bucket before the other dragons could eat her food. “Love you too, Pavi.”

Juniper turned the knob to open the door, but immediately jumped out of the way of the door as he heard a faint rumbling in the near distance. Just then, the three triplets Jatin, Keddan, and Dalia came trampling full speed into the cabin on top of the three baby Bonecrushers who were still not a year old yet. Juniper knew these three still had endless energy in them, but he also knew just how pissed his mom would be.

“No! Absolutely not!! No dragons in the house during meals!” Mom’s booming voice ordered firmly. Juniper was hesitant to even peek into the house as his Mom already had cornered the twins and their new dragons. “You three know this! You should be setting a better example for your little brother, Fredrick.” Fredrick, the youngest of them all who was turning thirteen in a month, was nowhere to be seen but no one dared point this out to her.

“But Nani gets to have a dragon!” Dalia protested, always the bravest of the triplets and the whole family even. “Why can’t we bring them in here?”

“Because Nani’s Common Garden dragon cannot grow to the size of our house, Dalia Grenleff.”

“You don’t know that Patta can’t grow to the size of a house, Sita,” Nani giggled, rocking slowly in her rocking chair. Despite looking older than the valley itself, her hands were soft as she gently stroked the sleeping elderly dragon in her lap who was probably too deaf to hear the lunch horn.

“Yes, Maan, but Patta is not a Bonecrusher,” Mom whispered in a gentle tone with soft eyes and with a patient kindness that covered her silent frustration.

Patta bada ladaka hai. Patta apanee sabjee Satee bhee kha raha hai.”

Haan Maan—”

“Hey mom?” Juniper asked, glancing worriedly to the kitchen as the rocked back and forth on their heels.

lekin ab patta—

“Mom.”

What, Juniper?!”

Juniper flinched at his mother’s tone, shrinking in his spot. Juniper bit his lip as the silence hung in the air for a moment longer. Juniper just nervously pointed to the kitchen for a moment.

“I think the kitchen’s on fire.”

The kitchen was, in fact, on fire.

Mal mal mal mal!!” While his mother rushed off to put out the flames, the triplets silently dragged their bonecrushers up the stairs, staring with wide eyes to Juniper in hopes that he wouldn’t rat them out to their mother. Jatin and Keddan instantly sighed as Juniper gave a silent thumbs up and Dalia hushed them both loudly with an angry glare before the three and their dragons stumbled up the steps to their tower. When Juniper turned to his mother, she stood defeated over the stove, the bread burned and her hopes crushed.

“What am I going to do, Juniper…?” His mom whispered so quietly Juniper almost did not hear. “I can’t last another day without your father, but it won’t be another few weeks until he returns. I cannot even cook lunch without his help.” Juniper inched closer, gently placing a hand on their mother’s shoulder. “Falla— Your sister— She’s just—” Mom sighed— “She’s just like her dad! Never can be happy in one place for too long. I still can’t believe that she is leaving this week…!” She laughed sadly and gently placed a hand over Juniper’s. Juniper had not even put thought into the fact that Falla would be leaving the valley. It seemed like yesterday when they were little kids and she promised that she would eventually leave. Juniper just did not comprehend that the day she leaves would be so soon. “And the triplets— I do love them I really do— but they are not helping with everything right now.” Her eyes had tears in them as Juniper slowly came to terms with how much his mother had been dealing with these past few weeks. Especially when Henry, Juniper’s older brother and the cornerstone to the family, still had not returned home for about a month now. “I want one thing— just one thing— to go right and yet… it feels like the world is out to get me. What should I do?”

“I’ll go out to the ocean and catch fish,” Juniper said after a long pause. “I am not a great chef, but I can make us dinner or lunch or… whatever tonight.”

“That’s really thoughtful, Juney, but I don’t see how this will help much….”

“It probably won’t help with everything going on, but it’s a step in the right direction, right?” Juniper asked with a weak smile. His mother’s eyes were a soft hazel hue that slowly scanned his face before her lips twitched into a smile as she nodded. “I’ll be home soon, Mom.”

“You better be my little troublemaker,” she chuckled, gently pinching his cheek and wiping her eyes as Juniper laughed.

Juniper hugged his mom goodbye, swiped food off the counter, and mentally prepared himself for leaving the valley to go get fish from the ocean.

Freya Rouge | Female | 24 | Dragon-Rustler | M: Thea

Freya entered the markets with one goal in mind: food. There was food from all over the continent but there was only one stall that held her eyes. Through all the excitement, music, and noise of people buzzing about like busy bees, many vendors attempted to advertise their wares to her.

“Hi, would you like to try our complimentary perfume? Made with dragon scales and exotic fruit! It’s completely free except for a tiny fee!”

“Nope,” Freya replied coldly, contorting herself to avoid contact with the tray of sprays shoved into her face.

“Do your muscles feel sore? Your hands ache? Well let me tell your about our new, latest, state of the art—”

“No thank you, ma’am.”

“Hellooooooo!~ I have some mighty fine jewelry that would look mighty fine on you if you are willing to pay—”

“Not interested.”

“Hey lady. If you need a man to escort you around, I am here on a two for one deal where if you pay to spend time with me for two hours—”

“Listen here,” Freya grabbed the man in front of her by the collar, yanking him to his knees as she glared evilly at him, “the only thing I need is my goddamn food. Me and my dragons get pretty cranky without it. Right now, the only thing I will escort is you into the mouth of my dragon.” Sylvi huffed angrily, her nostrils flaring as she stood behind Freya. “Do I make myself clear?” The man nodded till it looked like his head would fall off as she let go of him and he crumbled to the floor. With everyone parting the way around her, it was much easier to find her favorite stall.

“Heyyyyy, Freya!” A scrawny woman called with a wide smile and big wave. Her stall was small, but it had a small cooking stand in front of it that allowed her to cook up meals.

“I’ll have the usual,” Freya grumbled to Bella, the woman with an unending positive attitude. “Make it extra spicy for Hunter and Hayden please. They’ve both been pains in my ass and haven’t gotten off of Sylvi this whole time.”

“Cooooming right up!!” Bella giggled with a mini salute, taking meat out of a bag with some runes and dragon scales sewn into it before placing it onto the black stove top before tapping the three Frill Wyrms that rested on the roof of the stall to get them to come down from their perch in the sun and cook the meat. By resting themselves on the stove and setting themselves on fire, the three worked to cook the meat together as they formed a ring around the beef. “So, instead of money, I was thinking that you pay me with something else today?”

“This is a strange request coming from you…,” Freya stated as she arched an eyebrow. “You usually charge me more money than other people.”

“Well, you have been coming to my stand at least once a week for five years now, so I figured I should give you a discount for once,” Bella stated with a shrug as she added diced veggies into the meat. “I figured I should be nice and cut you slack as my number one paying customer.”

“Oh? Let’s hear this deal then.”

“I want you to smile for me.”

“Excuse me?” Freya asked, more confused by the request than anything.

“You heard me,” Bella huffed as she added seasons and spices to the dish. “You come here all the time and yet you almost never smile unless I tell you about what is going on in my life and about my stupid sister-in-law and her god forsaken mule eyes!!” Freya could not help a chuckle at a mention of the story, covering her mouth politely. “You always act like such a grumpy sour puss, but I bet you’re just a big softy under all of that armor.”

“Not a single part of my body is soft.”

“You know what I mean.” Bella sighed before clasping her hands together and giving Freya big puppy dog eyes. “Come ooooon! It’s one smile for a free meal! Pleeeeeeaaaase!”

“Fine.” Fiona rolled her eyes and cracked her neck to get herself ready to smile. “But no more weird deals like this in the future, got it?”

“Of course not! I’ll just charge you triple the normal price of these meals like I always do!” Freya smiled for about a solid five seconds in all, but it was enough to make Bella smile with gleefully delight. “See?? Was that so hard?”

“Yes, it was excruciating.”

Hunter and Hayden slid off Sylvi at the smell of food, Hunter getting so close to the hot plate that Hayden had to yank him away from the meat. Bella diced up the food a little before splitting it so that Sylvi, Hunter, Hayden, and Freya all got food and placed the meat in four separate bowls before sprinkling spicy powder onto two of the smaller ones just like Freya had previously asked.

“You might want to eat up fast though, Freya. I heard rumors that a dragon-freer was in the west plaza of the marketplace.”

Lumi | Winterwinder | 75 | Female | M: Thea, Vincenzo

Lumi looked to see the Tidal wing back off but she was still in protective moded due to the run in she had. She heard the male speak and she growled backing up. Lumi looked around and watched the humans moves. Lumi noticed something about the boy and backed up more. She wasn't happy about any of this and to add on to the fact her owner was dead. She tried to fly off but she was still a bit weak from the encounter. Lumi felt something around her but ingored it. She thought I hope they aren't gonna try anything. Lumi shook her head and turned ready to walk away. She looked behind her to see a dragon tho unknown.
