i can understand that, i've also been working on the same within my art ^^ though not so much for designs, moreso just for drawing poses. if it's anything that's not standing or sitting i need a reference xD

for designs i usually just pick a 4-6 color scheme and go from there

I've always been a reference drawer. So I struggle alot with design and drawing things that aren't right infront of me.

But my goal this year is to do more design type stuff rather than drawing from a picture

it takes a lot of patience lol. i just clean up the lines as i go and make sure they're sharp.

looking at anatomy guides for what you draw will probably help you figure out where to put lines though ^^
