Reign of the Titans

100 million years ago, the earth was ruled by colossal titans. The land was owned by the beasts who walked it as they fought to survive the most dangerous predators the world has ever seen. Some found safety in numbers, others adapted weapons or armor to ward off predators. But even with that protection, not every creature was lucky enough to make it out alive. Do you think you have what it takes?

Nestled among the mountains lies a large and lush valley, thriving with dinosaurs. Herds of herbivores live peacefully, sharing the plentiful resources of the valley's foliage and the large river that runs from the mountains and into the bountiful lake at the center of the valley. But on the outskirts of the valley, hidden just out of sight in the mountains, danger lurks as carnivores have found their paradise.

Welcome to Reign of the Titans, a literate dinosaur RP! This RP will be mainly about just dinosaurs living their everyday lives, but with that comes risks. The herbivores will face hardships as they try to survive attacks from predators as well as protect the rest of their herd and find safe areas to rest and find food and water. Since I want everyone to have fun and be able to play their favorite dino, there won't be any restrictions on what dinosaurs we can and can't have. However, we will need to balance the carnivores and the herbivores. So there will be a limited number of carnivore slots. But first, let's get into some rules!

Rules

  1. No God modding. Be fair. You cannot just instantly kill someone else’s character. If two dinosaurs are going to fight, it should be discussed ahead of time what the outcome will be. Also, even if your character is a carnivore, they are not invincible.

  2. I'm not expecting anyone to post daily, as I know real life can get in the way. But you should try to post at least 3 times a week. If you are going to need to be away for an extended period of time, just be sure to let us know ahead of time so we aren't waiting around for you in the middle of a scene.

  3. PLEASE be literate! Minimum of 300 words. I recommend typing out posts in Google docs first to get an accurate word count. It can be frustrating to try to craft a post if the other people aren't giving you enough to work with.

  4. Any pairings are allowed including interspecies relationships, but offspring are not. While I'm not being restrictive on what dinosaurs to choose from, I still want this to be realistic. Hybrid offspring aren't allowed.

  5. Have fun with your characters! While dinosaurs would realistically have coloring that matches their surroundings, I'm not going to be super strict about it. However, please try to create practical characters. Limit of 3 characters per person, only 1 of which can be a large carnivore and 1 pack carnivore. It is preferred to only have one carnivore per person.

Now, let's discuss structure and roles.

The different herds all share the valley peacefully and very rarely have disputes. They all have an agreement to cohabitate the valley and will also help each other keep an eye out for predators. While the herds don't necessarily routinely mingle, friendships between herds are not unheard of. The herds have even been known to tolerate some of the smaller predators in the valley, allowing them to eat the smaller critters. Large carnivores are not welcome in the valley, mostly sticking to the mountains on the outskirts of the valley.

Character name: Coral

Character species: Spinosaurus

Character group/role: Large Carnivore

Character physical description: Coral is small for a full-grown spinosaurus, weighing only 10 tons. She has a long, slender build with a sleek, paddle tail. She sports a small crest on her head and a large sail, which has several peaks and valleys. Coral’s predominant color is a deep plum purple with her underside, legs, and arms being a pale sky blue. Her arms and legs are covered in purple striping, and her top half is freckled the same shade of purple as her stripes. She has deep gold eyes.

ART BY ME

Character personality description: Coral is a friendly carnivore, always interested in exploring her surroundings and venturing farther to find something new. She mainly eats fish, due to her smaller size making it a bit more challenging for her to take on land prey, but she has been known to hunt smaller land dinosaurs if fish are not readily available. Coral tends to leave the larger land herbivores alone, giving them space and staying out of their way. She spends most of her time in the water, her darker top half helping her disappear from sight under the surface.

Name:

Neith
Possibly "Fear, Dread"
Egyptian Goddess of Hunting and War
Age:

Adult
Gender:

Female/Doe
Species:

Tyrannosaurus Rex
Appearance:

Neith is a formidable creature who, quite literally, towers over many. She stands at a hair under 15 feet tall at the hip, making her several feet over twenty at her head, probably closer to twenty three feet. Her length isn't quite as long as it could be, topping out at a few inches over 38 feet long. Though, if you ask her, it's only because she got a couple of feet snipped off from her tail, which she didn't by the way, she just didn't quite make it to the full 40. Still, she is a colossal female, with and wide and heavy mass, her muscular clear within her frame.

The female rex is a creature in her prime, and since she laid her most recent eggs a while ago she has gained any weight she lost during that time back. Neith has a powerful figure with a wide stance, and it's easy to mistake her for being larger than she actually is. Her hips are wide, layered in powerful muscle, attached to strong legs and large, padded geet. Her abdomen is a bit round, but nothing that isn't standard for the shape of your average Rex doe. Her tail is wide at the base, heavy in muscle as it's used to counterbalance the weight of her massive head. Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to give something that big of a head? Back to her tail though. It is quite wide at the base and narrows over it's length to a point. It's surprisingly versatile despite it's primary use, and it would even be best to avoid getting smacked by the thing.

In the opposite direction of her tail is her shoulders. They are strong as well, but not nearly as layered in muscle as her hips. They're attached to a wide neck that has to hold that gigantic ass head of herself, and it's coated, completely painted in thick muscle so she has the strength to move it in any direction and with lethal speed. Hell, her whole body is layered in muscle, but a creature that big has to be, otherwise she would simply fall over and be a meal for someone else. The one thing that isn't a joke, though, are the muscle attachments to her skull, especially her jaw. It's what gives her, and all her kind, quite possibly the strongest bite force on the planet. That big ole head of hers, which is probably over five feet in length, is the home of those damaging jaws of herself. Within them are teeth that are large, several inches in length, serrated, yet blunt. They're wide teeth with more blunt edges so that they can withstand the force of her prey trying to struggle within her mouth. They, along with the vice of her jaws, are what make her bite deadly, she can grab and hold on, and crush anything that gets between her teeth.

And then, of course, there are those tiny little useless arms of hers on her chest below her shoulders. But we don't talk about those.

While males of her species are flashy and eye catching, there is more of a subtle beauty to Neith's great appearance. The coloration of her hide is somethong of more natural, earthy tones. Her base color is a medium green color with a more olivey hue to it than true forest green. It appears lighter in the sunlight, coming off more of a true light green color, whereas in the darker it's more of it's true color, perhaps a bit richer in tone, with the normal olive hue to it. Her underbelly color is a creamy color a few shades lighter than tan, complimenting the green well. However, her markings, though, are much darker than the rest of her body. They are a dark color that's hard to determine exactly what it is. In the dark, or lower lighting, her markings appear more of a very dark olive green color, verging on black. Whereas in bright lighting the markings on her body look more of a dark brown, nearly black, color.

Her markings present themselves in a rather predictable pattern down her body. Two streaks line both of her sides, about 6 inches from her spine on either side, starting at her the meeting her neck and head. and going lengthwise with her body until her tail. Coming from the streaks on either side of her body are thylacine like stripes, that reach down to just before the color shifts to her underbelly color. These stripes don't just go down her body vertically, but they go up and over her spine, connecting with the stripes on the other side. This leaves pockets of green coloring between the stripes along her spine, giving it a distinctive orange-tan hue bordering the green. She has thicker, heavier stripes on her hips, which shorten just before reaching the base of her tail. There the stripes continue, but instead of ending on either side they connect to form rings instead. These go down the entire length of her tail and are several inches thick. Her tail tip ends in this color as well. On her legs are similar markings, with stripes, a little over a foot long, follow down the front of her thigh, lightening with each stripe. Where the next stripe should be, starting down her shin, instead the rest of her legs are consumed with a dark green color. It isn't as dark as her markings, but ti's considerably darker than her base color. On her head, the stripe markings continue, making their way down the top of her head down to her nose. The ones on her forehead don't come down passed her eye ridge, instead they stop when they meet the same dark green color of her legs. However, they are visibly seen coming down to stripe her snouth just behind her nose where the antorbital fossa is. Since this area on her face is actually the color of her underbelly, the stripes on either side of her face where that antorbital fossa is are much more visible, contrasting with the light color.

It's obvious to anyone who sees Neith that she is designed for camoflauging in the forest while hunting. With the coloration of primarily green, and other earthy colors, the female blends in very well with the forest for when she hunts. She can be down right difficult to see, especially by herbivores with poor vision. The only thing bright about the female are the yellow eyes that sit in her head, but with how big she is, and how far away things are from her face before she's biting them, they aren't something anything can see and immediately think they're eyes.

Overall, Neith is a pristine specimen of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and she's proud of it.

Pack Name: Northwest Wind Pack
Pack Number: 312661
Character #1:
Character name: Grieta (Spanish word that could be used to refer to a fissure in a rock or other solid object, its pronunciation is something like "gre-a-ta")
Character species: Ankylosaurus
Character group/role: Miscellaneous herbivores
Character physical description: Grieta is a female ankylosaurus who has just reached maturity. She is very robust and heavy, quite strong but slow and not agile at all. The lower part of her body is dark brown, which mixes with the reddish color of the areas around the hard bone plates that serve as armor, which cover her back along with the sides, the top of her head and part of her tail. The large, hard club on her tail is also reddish. Her eyes are large and amber in color. She always seems to have a frown on her face. Two small pyramid-shaped horns emerge from each side of her head, pointing backwards. The horns and the osteoderms (hard bone plates) that protrude from her armor are light gray.
Character personality description: If there is something that characterizes Grieta, it's her seriousness and firmness. Although her kind are usually loners, she usually stays in the valley along with other herbivores and tends to get along well with most of them, since she was raised there, but she still likes to have moments alone from time to time. She is very protective of her family and friends. She will not hesitate to attack anyone who dares to bother her or her loved ones.
Character #2:
Character name: Cyclone
Character species: Deinonychus
Character group/role: Pack carnivores
Character physical description: Cyclone is an adolescent deinonychus. His plumage is mostly orange, with black and white stripes on the feathers that cover his arms and tail. He has a thick black stripe going around his neck, making it look like he is wearing a collar. The feathers protruding from the top of his head point backwards. His eyes, similar to those of an eagle, are an intense yellow color. His tail is long, straight and well covered with feathers that lengthen as they reach the tip. His featherless areas are a shade between gray and brown. His claws are all black. He is very fast and agile.
Character personality description: Cyclone is like the typical impulsive teenager who doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. He has a bold and adventurous personality. He is also stubborn. Although he loves to have fun and flirting, he will get serious when he thinks the situation calls for it.
