Plot

Ereil is a mystical land. The high and mighty Eredor Mountains gradually give way to lush plains that border on a wide ocean expanse. Forests, a northern desert, and massive lakes dot the landscape and, living inside them, are the Tribes.

The Kaa Tribe are water dwellers. They rule the lakes, rivers, and oceans of the land. The Djali Tribe dominate the desert. Living within the murky woods is the Faolain Tribe, and high in the mountains reigns the Erren Tribe. The Tribes are human, but those who have bonded to beasts become... a little more than that. At the last bonding ceremony of the four Tribes, however, something went wrong. Several new pairs suddenly turned against all the others, wreaked havoc, and then disappeared.

In an attempt to find and stop the new threat, and to attempt to reverse the phenomenon, a handful of pairs from each Tribe were chosen to hunt the others down.

To find out what had caused the snap.

To save their world.

Rules of the RP

Eve's rules first, obviously. Keep it nice, no OOC drama, hate the character rather than the player, PG-13, etc.

It's a semi lit to literate RP, so responses MUST be 200+ words PER character.

4 character limit for now. If you are making more than one, I'd prefer you make a human and a beast to help keep things even. This RP is central around there being an even H:B ratio.

No pictures. The only thing I will accept is drawings that you have made or that have been made for you. If you want a rough sketch of a character (probably just a face but maybe full body) I'd be happy to do a quick one for you.

Write your forms like you'll be RPing -- 150-200 words minimum for appearance and personality each.

Look through the beast descriptions and all that! I'm putting effort into them, and you'll need them for your appearance guidelines.

If you have a suggestion for a beast to be added, put it in the Other section of your form (this is not required).

Reservations will last 24 hours unless I am made aware of extenuating circumstances. If I don't get a message, it'll just be put back up for grabs.

You cannot play a bonded pair. If you have a human, you can't play your human's beast, or vice versa. If one is not found before the start of the RP I'll just assign them.

You can play up to two high ranks (leads, seconds, medics) but they cannot be in the same rank (can't play two leaders or two seconds) or in the same group (Seekers group and Snapped group).

Beasts may interbreed with other species to create hybrids.

Habitat: Deep Water
Life Span: 1000 Years
Appearance: Takes the appearance of a horse or dog. Usually darker in color, they lurk in murky water and always appear wet, even when on land. Their eyes are usually one solid color without a discernable pupil.
Diet: Carnivorous
Abilities: They do not need to breathe. They also have some trance-like abilities and are known to lure other creatures into the water and drown them as a hunting technique. They are extremely quick and agile in the water but normal on land. Impervious to Hypnotic dragons. Doesn't get pruny after being in water too long.
When Bonded? Their human gains their life span and abilities.

Size: 6-11 feet at the shoulder
Habitat: Woodlands, Volcanic Areas, Prairie
Life Span: 1000 Years
Appearance: A horned horse. Colors may differentiate depending on habitat, though most common coats are metallic, black, or white. Males have protruding canines. Horns may be straight, curved, or twisted, but each unicorn will only have one. Tails may be varying shapes, sizes, and types.
Diet: Omnivorous
Abilities: Known for their healing abilities. Even death may be held back for a time, but this is to the detriment of the giver. High pain tolerance.
When Bonded? Their human gains their life span and abilities.

Species: Pegasus
Size: 5-12 feet at the shoulder
Habitat: Desert, Sky, Foothills
Life Span: 1000 years
Appearance: Winged horses -- some will have bird characteristics (eyes, beaked muzzle, feathered body, etc). Wings are often twice the size of their body and may be feathered, leathery, or insect-like. Colors vary. Some have six legs.
Diet: Herbivorous
Abilities: Bird-types have incredible sight. All have enhanced hearing and agility. Flight. Able to withstand both hot and cold climates.
When Bonded? Humans become more agile, more aware, and have greater sight. Become more tolerant to extreme temperatures. They still can't fly. Inherit beast's longevity.

Size: 5-8 feet at the shoulder, up to 13 feet long
Habitat: Solely Aquatic/Marine
Life Span: 1500 years
Appearance: Front end of a horse, back end some type of aquatic creature. Fins, flares, frills, and gills are quite common. Colors are all over the spectrum.
Diet: Omnivorous
Abilities: Can breathe underwater, enhanced speed and strength, some water control. Doesn't get pruny after being in water too long.
When Bonded? Abilities and longevity are acquired by human.

Size: 7-15 feet at the shoulder
Habitat: Universal
Life Span: 800-2000 years
Classes: Poison, Fire, Water, Hypnotic
Appearance: Depends on habitat. Anything within reason is completely acceptable.
Diet: Depends
Abilities: Dragons can either spit fire, water, or venom. Some fly, some burrow, some glide. Nearly impenetrable hide. Hypnotic dragons have chamelion abilities and can temporarily seize control of most other creatures.
When Bonded? Humans gain life span, tough skin, and body temperature of dragon. They cannot fly or spit fire/venom/water.

Size: 8-13 feet at the shoulder
Habitat: Dark Areas
Life Span: 900 years
Appearance: Massive dogs. Often dark colored with solid-colored eyes. May have multiple heads, though this is uncommon and is usually associated with some personality disorder.
Diet: Carnivorous
Abilities: Shadow walking (travel between shadows), increased stamina, incredible sense of smell, enhanced hearing
When Bonded? Human gains abilities and longevity. Shadow walking takes a heavy toll on a human without their hellhound.

== HUMANS ==

Kaa Tribe: They live near or in bodies of water, depending on whether or not they are bonded to a water beast. They often have lots of jewelry, piercings, and tribal tattoos. Their clothing is relatively short and easy to move in -- think pirate. They make their livings fishing, trading, and selling ornate jewelry.

Djali Tribe: They live in the desert and sometimes venture to volcanic areas. Their clothing is often flowy but covering to protect them from the sun. They are craftsmen of equipment: beast tack, hunting traps, weapons, utensils,...

Faolain Tribe: They are notoriously good hunters and healers, though many are also farmers and ranchers. Their garb is for cooler weather and they are rarely adorned with anything, as it could give them away while hunting. One or two piercings are not uncommon. They trade clothing, blankets, herbs, and wood.

Erren Tribe: The mountain dwellers are a rugged people and have literally carved their homes into the sides of the Eredor Mountains. They occasionally venture to volcanic areas. Their clothes are often made of animal skins, and tribal tattoos of varying colors are quite common. They make a living off trapping, stonemasonry, and trading mined gems and ore.

== BONDING CEREMONY ==

New bonds are formed between humans who are 16-20 years old and beasts who are 50-100 years old. The bonding ceremony occurs annually on the summer solstice and lasts about six hours.

All four Tribes gather together on the plains to welcome the beasts, who choose their companions. It is a bond made for life; if one dies, the other will not choose another bond. If it is the human that survives, their abilities will be dulled after the death of their beast.

The chiefs and their beasts consecrate the bond by touching an ancient, clear, luminiscent stone to the foreheads of both human and beast. This stone is tucked away safely at all other times during the year; nobody but the chiefs know where it is. Some speculate that it is now missing, or -- even worse -- broken.

== RANKS EXPLAINED ==

The Snapped: a migratory group of newly-bonded pairs wreaking destruction across all of Ereil

Leaders: This is the chosen leading pair of the deviant group. They make the final decisions on things. It is one beast and one human, and they are bonded.

Seconds: Their second-in-command pair, also bonded. They keep everything running smoothly and are also the go-to scouts.

Raiders: The rest of the group, all bonded pairs.

The Seekers: a group of bonded pairs with members chosen from each Tribe, sent to stop the Snapped, and attempt to find and reverse the cause of the behavior change

Leaders: the leading bonded pair. Appointed by the chiefs of the Tribes, most likely the oldest and most experienced pair.

Seconds: Appointed by the leaders, the seconds are a bonded pair that uphold order in the group.

Medics: One or two bonded pairs, usually with the beasts being unicorns. They doctor the group and any injured civilians they may pass by.

Members: The rest of the pairs. They will scout, do damage control, hunt, and are just the overall body of the group.

Appearance

Shiva is quite easy on the eyes. She's tall, standing at 5'11, and has a lithe, athletically muscled frame. She is toned but not ripped, and her upper body is particularly well taken care of due to her interests in archery and javelin. Shiva's body is relatively unscathed; she has several scars, though very few are from anything of note. Most were gained during work or, in her younger years, play and idiotic decisions. Her most noticeable scar is on her upper right bicep: a simple, thin slice running horizontally with a slight slope towards her torso.

Shiva has a fair olive complexion. Her skin tans easily, however, and she is not one to burn for long. She has faint freckling across her nose, cheeks, chin, and shoulders, though as her complexion darkens, they return more prominently when she lightens up during the winter. Her face is diamond shaped and hosts a stern expression: straight, furrowed eyebrows are set above rounded eyes (these are a hazel color with a heavy dose of ambers and greens), a slightly rounded nose is centered between defined cheekbones. Her lips are neither full nor thin, and her mouth is of an average width.

Her hair hangs to the ends of her shoulderblades -- roughly the middle of her back -- and is somewhat wavy though borderline straight. It is auburn in color with golden and strawberry blond streaks when it catches the sunlight; her eyebrows are a deeper red, and her eyelashes are a few shades darker than even those. Shiva's hair is often worn down, though, on occasion, she will pull it back into a simple braid or ponytail. About half of the time, her hair is covered completely by her hood.

She wears basic desert attire: loose and flowing fabrics cover her arms and legs; everything is a pale, light brown; her boots are made of animal hides and laced together with rawhide. It's a versatile outfit: it blends in with the barren lands, keeps her both warm and cool, provides good movement, and allows for stealthy movement. Unlike many in Ereil, she is not adorned with even a single piece of jewelry. Neither is she the host of an intricate tattoo -- or any tattoo at all. Her being is one of a simple elegance -- barren, even -- as desolate as the land she was raised in.

Her voice is not quite low, but it is certainly not high. Her tone carries a regal sternness about it, although she carries no royal blood. Shiva walks with the languid prowl of a hunting feline, and her attention is just as sharp. She has always had a countenance that demands respect. Recently, however, this has taken on a darker note. Now, after the breaking, after the snap -- she demands fear.

Personality

Ever since she was a young girl, she has had a gifted mind. Logic puzzles and strategy games interested her more than others her age, and when she got bored of those, she made her own real-life scenarios: human chess, hunting games, and thinking up riddles were things she would often subject those around her to. She was, and still is, a very intelligent and aware person. Of course, her social skills and the readings of cues developed more after her phase of demanding people play with her, but they are there now, and have remained strong.

Competition has always been a driving factor for her. Not to be the best, per se, but to at least give the best a run for their money. The thrill of the game, the risks, the glory -- she lives for it. She will not always accept a challenge. If she knows there is no chance of avoiding utter demolition, she will decline. Likewise, if the other person faces a complete butt-whupping, she will decline. If it is deemed a waste of time, she will decline. Is it a baking competition? She will decline.

Shiva is more into the adventurous sides of things. If something promises to push her to her limits, she'll give it a go. She wants to grow, to learn, to flourish. To progress in... well, life in general. She is not so adventurous as to put herself or those around her in blatant danger, however, and she is quite good about making rational, thought-out decisions.

She's a calm and collected young woman. Her words are reasonable and have been mulled over in her mind before being spoken out loud. Shiva knows how to stick her words where they'll hurt, but she also knows how to hold them back. However she uses her words and actions, they always have a sort of fluidity to them. Always smooth, flowing.

She is a more antisocial person, preferring to be alone -- whether or not she is "with" a crowd, she is always separated somehow. Shiva is quieter, more stoic or sober in appearance, just reserved in general. Her firm grasp on her words, her strengths, and her stature all give her a more intimidating cast. She is not one to mess with. Her feelings just can't be hurt -- but she can get annoyed.
