if the wolf is HW, it will start at 28 damage even with no BE.
if it's MW, it'll hit 27 damage at 275 BE.
LW wolves would never hit that much damage, unless 525+ BE and +5 extra damage from a weather event

Edit 10/25/23: this guide is severely out of date. There are many new breeding additions that are not covered here. If you have any questions about breeding, I highly recommend posting your question in the general Member Help forum.
What is rarity?
Rarity is a ""tally"" of points based on the markings your wolf has. Things like Uncommon/Rare/Legendary eyes/nose/base coats will also affect rarity, but that will be gone over later.
Each marking has points from 1 to 5, based on how rare they are (5 points is the rarest; 1 point is the most common). Straight from the Game Guide, here's the list of all the markings and how many points they add to a rarity score.
Points Color - 1
  • Leg Markings - 1
  • Head Markings - 1
  • Inner Ears - 2
  • Tail Type - 2
  • Muzzle Marking Type and Color - 1 each
  • Shoulder Color - 3
  • Brindle - 2
  • Piebald - 4
  • Okapi - 5
  • Leopard - 5
  • Back Marking Type and Color - 2 each
  • Speckle Type and Color - 3 each
  • Ear Edges Type and Color - 2 each
  • Harlequin - 4
  • Belton - 3
  • Somatic Mutation - 5
What about coats, noses, and eyes?
As of recently, SixBears has updated the rarity system so that certain eyes, coats, and noses will add rarity to your pelt!
Only ""common"" coats/eyes/noses can be inherited from parents by pups. For example, two Akita base parents with black noses and Ice eyes will toss Akita base pups with black noses and Ice eyes. These are all common; therefore, the pups will inherit them.
When it comes to coats/eyes/noses that are Uncommon and up, these are random. The higher they are marked as (""Uncommon""/""Rare""/""Legendary""/""Dynamic""), the harder they are to get. This makes Dynamic the hardest to get. However, keep in mind that parents with Uncommon+ whatever does not increase the chances of passing these on to pups. Because they are random, your pup will not have a higher chance of getting a higher rarity coat/eyes/nose just because one or both parents have it.
It's also good to note that these Uncommon+ items will actually increase rarity. I have how much they increase by listed below.
Base Coat
Common | +0 rarity points
Uncommon | +10 rarity points
Rare | +20 rarity points
Legendary | +40 rarity points
Dynamic | +45 rarity points
Eyes
Common | +0 rarity points
Uncommon | +5 rarity points
Rare | +7 rarity points
Legendary | +9 rarity points
Nose
Common | +0 rarity points
Uncommon | +5 rarity points
Rare | +7 rarity points
Legendary | +9 rarity points

Common Questions

What eye/pelt/nose color will my pups get if both parents have Uncommon+ features?
If the parents both have Uncommon+ features, the pups are randomly assigned Common features (unless, of course, you get a pup with Uncommon+ features through random chance).

What is the current highest rarity score?
With all markings, Dynamic pelt, Legendary eyes, and Legendary nose, the highest possible rarity score is currently 118.

What does actual rarity (AC)/natural rarity mean?
This is a term for a wolf's rarity score with all common features. It can be used to refer to a wolf with all common features or a wolf's score with all common features if it has uncommon+ features.

I bred two high-rarity wolves together. Will I get high rarity pups?
This is not guaranteed. Since markings are randomly inherited, you can get pups ranging from 0 to the highest rarity parent. That means if you bred two 55R wolves together, you could get rarities ranging from 0-55. There has been record of one natural 55R wolf being born so far.

What is the point of owning a rarer wolf?
The wolf has no advantage in game. It may sell for more than average because it is harder to get that coat/eye color/nose color, but this is not guaranteed. The only point to owning a rarer wolf is if you like the colors or just want to have a rare wolf for showing off your breeding luck.

So, question; if both parents had Copper eyes, then regardless the pups would have Common eyes? How are those colors decided? If both parents have Ice eyes the pups do too, but both have Copper, so would it denote to Gold or Yellow automatically?

Though the pups would still have a chance like any other pup born at having Uncommon+ eyes, yes, they would be born with common eyes. From what I can tell, the eye color is random. I don't think it automatically will give the pups Gold/Yellow eyes, it will randomly assign an eye color. I plan to experiment with this on a side account to see if the eye color is random, or if they are assigned a specific eye color.

I went and looked up current violet-eyed breeder studs, got a bit of data.
- there was only two violet x violet pups I could find, and one had light blue eyes, the other yellow. (none of the grandparents had yellow - or violet - eyes either.)
- there was one wolf that had 28 kids, I looked and two pups had Legendary eyes, once violet and once copper. Both mothers had light blue eyes. Two others mothers had light blue eyes and every single resulting pup had light blue.
- one dam with dark blue eyes had three pups with a violet and two of the three had Aqua while the third had dark blue.

In every other instance - I looked at all the kids of like 10 studs and the mothers - they had the mother's eyes rather than the violet father's.

You'll most likely get the coat of the common coat parent.

There will be an extremely low and really unlikely chance of getting the dynamic coat from the parent with the dynamic coat. There will also be a very low to extremely low chance of getting a different uncommon, rare, legendary or dynamic coat
