Beyond the Horizon ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ It was early morning. The sun was just barely peaking over the mountains in the distance, the clouds were parting ways to let the sun's beauty shine across the sky. It was absolutely breathtaking. On cue with the sun's arrival, birds were dancing and singing along the branches of the trees, singing their hearts out for all to hear. With their wings fluttering, and their little toes tapping on the hardened bark of the old trees, they slowly, yet gracefully woke the valley up with a delightful welcoming. Below the great tops of evergreens and the dancing birds, a relatively large herd of Equine had laid rest. Most had yet to wake from their slumbers, others beginning to just wake from their dreams. Some were awake just before the morning wake, grazing, their lips ripping up clumps of fresh, damp bunches of grass. Among the herd, foals were not scarce. Unlike their tired mothers, they were multiplying in groups, playing till their little hearts desired. A little ways away from the herd, but not out of sight. High-pitched whinnying was disruptive to the calm atmosphere, hooves were thrown up high in the air of play, and foals bounded upwards. These foals certainly were rambunctious, and maybe a too bit playful as some of their playful kicks directed at others struck a tree or two. But they never meant harm to one another. It was just like any other morning. They were living life. But like any other horror story, nothing good ever lasts forever. Among the herd of mares, a large Stallion stood tall amongst them. His large appearance was easily spotted among the smaller mares, his figure casting a shadow larger than the tree he was grazing beside. Just like any other morning, he was unfortunately given the task of keeping all the youngsters in check. However, coming with such a task, was also quite the dangerous one. While he needed to keep an eye on 15 foals or so, he had to keep an eye out for dangers. Granted, it had been weeks since the last attack, and even then it was a small group of coyotes, but one must never be too careful. Unfortunately, while the Stallion looked over towards his childrens' way, it was at that moment when should of checked the East Side. Within the Shadows, a great beast was lurking within the brush. In an angry rampage, the monster lunged out from the shadows, a beast. A Grizzly Bear. One of unusual size, one that would come out of a nightmare. It didn't hesitate, it didn't think, it ran. It barreled across the grass, its hungry eyes staring into the eyes of unknowing prey. It only took a few moments until the Stallion realized what was happening, and only then did he throw his legs up high into the sky, and let out a horrifying, guttural roar. Watching as his mares scurried to their hooves, he rushed towards his herd to help get them out of the way. Looking back behind himself, he took one look at this beast and he knew that this bear was no ordinary bear. Its eyes were red, and puffy, white foam foaming around his mouth and nose. Its movements rigged and sudden. ⸻⸻⸻ Realizing that he would be of no use shoving his mares and foals out of the way, he stood to think for an absolute split second. The bear was growing closer, inch by inch, foot by foot. Its talons were stretched out wide, eager to rip into their flesh. Into the flesh of his mares, into his babies. What else could he do? This bear could outrun any of them, it could outrun him. Maybe it was a foolish decision, maybe it wasn't. He knew the outcome of this choice, but he had no other. A tear slowly trickled down his cheek, and he glanced back to his herd. "If there is a choice between you or me.. I choose me." With a violent stamping of his hooves, the Stallion had let out his final cry. ⸻⸻⸻ ... ⸻⸻⸻ || slight gore warning || Blood stained the trees. Slowly dripping down through the crevices of the bark. It was splattered across the green grass, the morning dew now mixed in with the horrible red liquid. There was so much blood, so much that one could fill a river with. And the corpses.. they kept piling in numbers. From the largest Lead Stallion to the smallest 3-month-old. The singing birds were no longer singing, as they all stood quiet among the trees, staring in horror at the scene below. The soft, fading breathing and small grunts passed on from one mare to the next, falling into silence. It was all so.. so very quiet. The silence was so loud, it was petrifying. The playful foals were no longer playful. The foals and dams that barely managed to escape the jaws of death, were standing upon the blood and destruction. Countless mares and foals lay dead in the grass, their bodies limp and lifeless. All while the survivors stood there, their hearts quaking. It was supposed to be a peaceful morning. ⸻⸻⸻ Where to Now? ⸻⸻⸻ After witnessing the gruesome death of their friends and family, the remaining members of the Tazarack Herd are forced to leave their only home and venture into the wilderness to find another home. Unfortunately, no one remaining had ever been beyond the Great Plains. No one knows what dangers lie within the shadows. Will they make it to their new salvation? Or will the cruelty of nature kill them first? Edited at October 1, 2022 08:40 PM by Covidic

Ranks ⸻⸻⸻ Guardian/s The two last living adults of the Tazarack Herd. Scathed, and scarred emotionally and/or physically, this horse has taken on the responsibility to care for, and protect the Tazarack's last descending offspring, all up until their last breath. The Guardians have a responsibility to help, care for, and teach these foals to survive, and thrive. With no other help, the Guardians will most likely have struggles when doing so, but hopefully, they will overcome those struggles. It will not be surprising if said Guardian becomes overwhelmed, and takes a break from the foals and nips them, but they will never break/fracture bones, leave them unattended for long { 30+ minutes }, etc. The Guardians are the "parents" of this small herd. The foals are expected to listen, and they look up to the Guardians for both knowledge and safety. Foals Self-explanatory. Foals. The offspring of the dams and either Lead Stallion or his Deputy, the surviving lineage of the Tazarack Herd. They have witnessed the death of their friends, and family. They are led by their Guardians, the last remaining adults of their previous herd. They are small, weak, afraid, and confused. This is new to them, and they are not prepared for what is to come, nor do they want to be. ⸻⸻⸻⸻ These horses are on a journey. They must travel along the Lands of the Pure, the Never Ending Plains, and lastly, the Ocean of Life. These lands were named for, not for the foolish, but for the wise to heed. These lands are not to be underestimated, as they can swallow you up, and will never let you go. ⸻⸻ Some Information you may want: Guardians: - They are related to most, if not all the Foals - They are Mares, no Stallions { as the Deputy & Lead are dead } - Older than 5+ Years Old - They will be mental, if not physically damaged for some short or long { up to you } period of time. Foals: - Ages from 7 Months - 1 Year - Are absolutely scarred Mentally and/or Physically in some Way - Either Colt or Filly - Will be related to some, if not all More may be added because I never remember everything~ Edited at October 1, 2022 08:53 PM by Covidic

Rules ⸻⸻⸻ 1. All WP Rules Apply 2. No Marys or Garys. Be creative, I actually want this RP to be a hit, and effortless characters are a no-no. This also means general proper punctuation and grammar. I understand a few mishaps here and there, everyone does it! But not every 6 words. 3. 2 Characters Per Person. Unless we lose members, or if I decide to have more, 2 Character Per Person. Speaking of which, Reservations last 12 hours, unless asked { in PMs } and you may only reserve one slot at a time. 4. This is Semi-Lit to Lit RP. I expect detailed personalities and appearances, Stock Images or not. 400+ Words at the minimum. I understand Writers Block but try your best. If you experience Block, please PM me. 5. I decline forms as I see fit, and if I see that you are declined, you will only gain 1 more chance of entering before you are no longer given a chance. And because this is a small RP, I will become pickier with people. Do not take offense if your post is declined. 6. Your character is not indestructible. It will be scathed if it decides to run full speed into a tree. 7. No OOC drama. Keep it between OCs only. I personally don't like it when people become rude or snappy.. so please, do us all a favor, and don't fight between members. Oh, forgot, put the word "snaggle cheese" somewhere in your form. Don't ask. This will be an immediate kick from the RP, as I don't tolerate bullying or fighting of any kind, so let's keep the peace. 8. Romance is NOT allowed. These are foals.. not adults. Yes, there may be "crushes" and teasing on how a foal likes another foal or whatnot, regular kid stuff, but no actual romance. Plus.. this is an RP about some poor group of horses who witnessed a brutal murder of their fathers, mothers, and siblings. I'm pretty sure no one is into romance for a good bit after witnessing that shit- 9. Expect Time Skips & Updates IN RP. Such as whether warning or predator warning to prep the members for when something tragic may hit. Time Skips will not be very common, mostly only used when all the characters fall asleep. But be prepared. 10. Have fun ⸻⸻⸻ Edited at October 2, 2022 10:37 AM by Covidic

“Soleil” Meaning “sun” or “sunshine” Age: 5 Gender: Mare Rank: Guardian Appearance: (This is a stock image; credit goes to Valarian-Warrior on DA) Soleil is the ideal height, standing at 16.1hh and harboring a build that is meant for speed. Her long, muscular legs are what make up most of her height, as well as give her an edge on her speed. This means that not only is she large enough to deliver a nasty kick to anyone that dares threaten her— but she can also outrun anyone that she can’t handle in a fight. But, with her size it’s difficult for her to run a great distance, and she’s got a large stride which renders her unagile. Despite this, though, she moves gracefully and elegantly. This mare’s coloration is nothing short of striking, her coat painted with a gorgeous mix of chestnut and white. She has short and sleek fur, which one could see just from looking at Soleil. She has four white socks on each of her legs, however, they often appear to be brown in coloration because of the dust and mud that she kicks up while walking. Her hooves are lighter in color, too, so they too often look dirty and stained in filth. Soleil's mane and tail are both, like the rest of her body, a wonderful chestnut color, as well as quite long. In fact, this mare's tail is so long that the end of it nearly touches the ground. Soleil’s muscular neck grows narrow and thin towards her head, which is chestnut except for a large splash of white, which begins at her nose and climbs up to her forehead. Her snout ends colored with a splash of pink, which blends in perfectly against the white surrounding it. Her ears are pointed and constantly alert, always on the listen for predators or any lurking threats. This mare harbors warm, beautiful amber eyes. However, in an instant her friendly gaze can turn to ice. Lastly, during the recent bear attack, Soleil had gotten an injury in the form of a clawmark across her right hindquarters. For the most, it doesn't affect the mare, but, if one looks closely, sometimes she has a small limp, and her gaits seem to have slightly less grace than they used to. Personality: On the outside, Soleil is a friendly and outgoing horse. She always harbors a positive outlook on life, and makes sure to retain an optimistic mindset and an upbeat attitude. She always tries her absolute hardest to make sure that everybody can say the same thing as her, and you’ll never see this horse not trying to cheer somebody up. Her name, which means “sun” or, “sunshine,” does not only apply to her appearance, as in terms of personality it’s impossible for her brightness to go unnoticed. However, this mare’s bubbly and animated personality is nothing more than a facade. She tries desperately to gain the likability of others because of how seriously she takes the opinions of others. Soleil is very sensitive to how others view her, and wants to be somebody that everybody likes, rather than a horse that is more of a nuisance than an asset. Though, it isn’t as if she’s never truly friendly. In fact, she has a genuine soft spot for those that are related to her or are younger than her. But after nearly her entire herd was wiped out, Soleil’s true colors started to show. She is truly a pessimist; tending to have a rather negative perspective on life. She has learned never to expect anything good, because she has the thought that in the end, she will always be let down. This mare can be snappy and rude whenever somebody presents themself to be an annoyance; and she isn’t afraid to bite, kick, or lash out if her warnings go unheeded. Soleil would prefer to spend her time alone— secluded from all other horses out of the fear that they’d end up devastated like her former herd. And, she isn't the social butterfly that she makes herself out to be. She values the time that she gets to herself, and enjoys the sound of silence. But, she isn’t so heartless that she’d abandon the few remaining foals because of her own selfish desires. She fully intends to raise the survivors into adulthood, and only wants the best for them. She feels a sense of protectiveness towards the young horses, and Soleil would like to teach them all that she can before they’re strong enough to fend for themselves. Even if it means they annoy or pester her at times. In a way, Soleil is a mature horse. She has a lot of knowledge on the world and how it works, which means that she knows what to do in an unfavorable situation.
