Personality
Laika is a very sweet-natured, yet independent wolf. With her own packmates she is sweet, kind, respectful, and brave. She loves each packmate like they are her siblings, and defends them fiercely and honorable. However how she presents herself to the other Alpha's and other packs is fierce, brave, loyal, and she makes sure that the other packs and Alpha's know she isn't to be messed with. However if you earn her loyalty and trust, you'll have it until the day you/she dies unless you betray her. She loves pups, and often is found playing with them. Even though Laika has her own trainee, she often oversees the other trainees as well.

Ferox has a set of claw mark scars running down the side of his face, a gift from his father before he died.
Personality
Ferox is very calm and nearly never shows any emotion unless the occasion calls for it. Although many wolves mistake his calm demeanor for apathy, he is really very caring and compassionate. He is very patient and almost never loses his temper. There are exceptions, of course. If anyone harms or tries to harm his friends or packmates, his normal calm state will instantly be replaced by vengeful fury. Ferox is the type to be merciful, although he won't hesitate to kill if an opponent doesn't accept his mercy. He would never attack an unprepared enemy, and he's the type to help someone in need, even a wolf from the other packs.

"Laika!"

The young wolf turns,"Helios? What's the matter?" The Alpha's former trainee trots up with some deer in his mouth, setting it down at the Alpha's feet,"Nothing. I just noticed you haven't eaten all day. And everyone else has been fed, we have plenty of food." Laika blinks affectionately at the wolf,"Thank you, Helios. That is very kind of you." Helios' tail wags slightly,"No problem!" Then another female of the pack, Cinder, calls out,"Helios!" Laika chuckles, she was very well aware of the crush that the two had on each other,"Helios! Just tell her already!"

Helios' ears flatten slightly,"What if she doesn't like me back!" Laika chuffs,"If she didn't like you, she would ignore you, or you'd be the one calling out for her. Go." The young wolf dips his head and bounds off to join Cinder, leaving Laika alone. Laika chuckles as she studies the camp, it was well into afternoon. The patrols had been arranged that morning, and wolves were working and out of patrol. Laika would lead a patrol herself, right at dusk, the final one of the night. Laika settles down to eat the deer, slowly eating it as she thinks.

"Laika!" The Alpha lifts her head as her siblings come bounding toward her, prey in their mouth. The three; Ignatius, Ember, and Inigo settle down with their prey. Laika enjoyed her siblings, they were close and always had fun together. "Well, how are my pups doing this afternoon?" The four look up to see their mother, Seraphina. "Mother." Came the greeting. Then Ember replies,"It's been going well, our medicine stock has been restocked and so far no major injuries." Ignatius and Inigo exchange a glance,"We got to chase down out a lion!" Laika's head comes up,"A lion? On our territory? Hmm, I'll make sure to check it's still gone when we go out." Seraphina settles down,"Ah, look at my pups. All grown up."

Ferox coughed as a could of dust billowed up from inside the tunnel one of the trainees was trying to dig. Beside him, Slate called into the hole, "Is everything alright down there?" Slate's trainee, an enthusiastic young wolf named Granite, replied with a panicked yelp. "My tail is stuck!" he cried. Slate rolled his eyes and padded down into the dark tunnel. Ferox waited patiently on the surface, a small smile on his face. He had never been terribly fond of going underground, something the elders thought was a little irksome, but there was nothing they could do about it.

It only took a few moments for Slate to extract Granite, and he dragged the younger wolf out of the tunnel by the scruff. Granite looked a little embarrassed, and Ferox couldn't help but give a small life. He looked so forlorn, sitting there all covered in dust. Slate shook his head. "Go get yourself cleaned up, Granite," he instructed sternly. Granite nodded and walked off towards a stream running through the camp. Ferox shook his head lightly. "Don't you think you're going a little hard on him, Slate?" he asked. Slate shook his head. "Of course not, Alpha," he said. "That's how my instructor taught me, and that's how I've taught all my trainees." Ferox stood up and shook some of the dust out of his fur. "You train Granite however you see fit," he said. "But it might not hurt to offer some positive reinforcement every now and then."

Ferox then turned and trotted away, leaving Slate before he could say anything else. Ferox was two years younger than Slate, and it felt strange to rank higher than him. Ferox sighed and sat down beneath the shade of a tree. He couldn't fathom why the elders had chosen him to become the Alpha when there were wolves like Slate that would do a much better job, but he hadn't had much of a choice. He did his best, but he often questioned the elders decision.

Ferox only allowed himself a few minutes to relax, then returned to the main encampment to greet the border patrol he had sent out that morning. The patrol leader, a large brown wolf named Ferrum, the pack's Delta, came straight to him and dipped his head. "Alpha," he greeted. "Nothing unusual to report. No intruders." Ferrum was not a wolf of many words. Ferox nodded. "You may be dismissed," he said. The patrol dispersed, going to mingle with the rest of the pack, and Ferox wandered over to the stream to get a drink.

The five wolves continue to chat even as the prey is finished, up until the sun started to go down. The four wolves scheduled to go on the last patrol with their Alpha were gathering by the entrance, and Laika noticed this. The young Alpha rose to her paws,"I would love to continue our conversation, alas duty calls." Her siblings and mother dip their heads, bidding her farewell, as the Alpha trots away joining her packmates at the entrance. "Are you ready?" Four heads dip, and Laika takes a deep breath before ducking out the entrance, leading the way to the border.

"Ignatius and Inigo reported chasing off a lion while on patrol, we'll sweep the borders and then split up and make a quick sweep of the territory and make sure that the lion is gone. Just remember that lions may be bigger and stronger, but they stand no chance against our fire." The four wolves dip their heads as Laika leads them into a run toward the borders. The run across the borders was quick and soon Laika splits the patrol up, sending each wolf in a different area of the territory. Telling them start on the edge and heading inward.

Laika heads for the area she had claimed, slowing down to a trot as she sweeps the area. Then she comes across the lion, who was laying in a clearing, cleaning himself. The lion gets to his feet at the sight of Laika, baring his teeth. Laika snarls back, her own teeth bared. The lion paces closer, and Laika flexes her shoulders. The lion lets out a massive roar and in return Laika's eyes turn red. The Alpha's pelt turns from black to a black-red then fire erupts, and she turns into a fire wolf. The lion rears back in surprise, roaring in surprise before taking off. Laika follows, allowing the fire to dim down, chasing the lion and making sure the lion was chased off into unclaimed territory. The sun was gone and the moon was peaking over the horizon.

Laika allows the fire to disappear as her fur turns back black and her eyes turn back gold. Lost in her thoughts she begins walking back towards camp along the Terra Lupi border, taking her time as the young Alpha was not quite ready to return to her duties and burdens.

"Why, out of all the wolves at camp, what led the elders to chose me?" Laika muses to herself as she trots along the path to the border, only half paying attention to her surroundings. Laika had begun to fall into the pattern of Alpha, and she hadn't gotten anyone killed or seriously injured. But yet nothing major has happened, just the lion. Laika sighs as her tail sways back and forth. Laika trots up the border and scents it before continuing along the border. However as she trots along the border, the scent of Terra Lupi gets stronger, and her head comes up.

As soon as Laika emerges through a bush of undergrowth she found herself face to face with a brown pelted Terra wolf, who had dropped into a fighting stance with his teeth bared. At once, the fire hotheaded side of Laika emerged. And her black pelt started turning red, as did her eyes, until Laika caught herself and calmed her fire. Her eyes faded back to gold and her pelt faded back to black. Her voice was calm and authoritative, unaware she was facing the new Alpha of the Terra Lupi. "Be at peace, wolf. I am simply on patrol, and I haven't crossed the border."

Laika glances sideways in the direction of the unclaimed territories,"Though I do warn, I did just chase a lion off into the unclaimed lands, he may return in your territory." At those words, Laika reminds herself to alert the other Alpha's of the lion at the next Great Pack Gathering, a meeting to exchange news and words among the Alpha's on a neutral territory. Laika flicks an ear as she stares at the wolf, not allowing fear or uncertainty into her gaze or posture.

Ferox retained his fighting stance, growling slightly as the stranger's eyes and pelt began to turn red, a sign that they were about to burst into flame. However, they calmed down and didn't attack. Ferox relaxed slightly as they began speaking, but kept himself alert, ready to fight. He was at a distinct disadvantage so close to the Ignis Lupi border; this wolf could creat her own fire, but Ferox could only manipulate that which already existed. Here, there was nothing but sand. Ferox could move sand, to an extent, but not effeciently enough for it to be usefull in combat. It was too slippery, too fluid.

Ferox, however, did not let his worry show. He took a step closer to the border, but didn't cross. He dug his claws into the sand, still prepeared for an attack, but he decided to be civil. This wolf hadn't done anything wrong, and they had imformed him of pontential trouble. "Thank you," he said, dipping his head politely. "I'll have my wolves send a patrol out later to make sure it stays away." Ferox turned away and began walking up the border. "Have a good night, and if I catch your scent anywhere in my territory, there will be consequences," he called behind him.
