The Wayfinders
Deep in the heart of Yellowstone, up near Lamar Valley, is a pack known as the Wayfinders. A smaller pack, they have carved out a home for themselves amidst the bigger and formidable packs of the National Park. The previus year was a rough one for the pack, having lost not only the young alpha's first litter, but the Alpha Female herself as well. It would have been easy for them to give up hope when illness ripped through the pack, taking with it three of the four pups of the Alpha pair. Weak from illness, the pack struggled to make a recovering, unfortunately, with the heartbreak of losing most of her litter and being weak from the same illness that took most of her pups, it all proved too much and unfortunately the Alpha female passed as a result.
This left the pack working together to try and save the last pup of the litter, but unfortunately being so young, the pup failed to thrive, and a mere week the pup passed too. Sorrow swamped the pack, making their days long and drab, but the preserverance of the Alpha Male lead the Wayfinders through the darkness. Now, a year later, the pack has learned not only how to survive, but to thrive. With there being no pups to feed, the pack was able to keep all the adults in the pack fed and in prime condition, leading to a healthy and strong pack that was not easily bullied by the larger packs around them.
Quickly forming a reputation for being a formidable pack, the Wayfinders find themselves at the time of year where new life should be flooding the pack. However, before any pups can be born, the Alpha male has to find a suitable mate. With no mate and heir, the Alpha is in a precarious position where any of his wolves, particularly the mated pairs, may try to usurp him. Only time will tell what the future holds for the Wayfinder Pack, but whatever it may be, the pack fully believes only good things loom on the horizon.

The Roleplay Rules
Follow all of Eve's & WP's Rules
1. Try to be Active. Real life comes first always, but do not join the rp just to disappear on us.
2. This Rp is placed more towards the Realism side of things, so keep wolf appearances natural, as well as behaviors on the more realistic side.
3. The pack rules were established to make the rp interesting, but the pack ordered. Obviously, the rules can be broken, but be prepared for there to be consequences.
4. Maximum of 4 Characters per Person, this includes adults and any future pups.
5. The literacy required for this Rp is around Semi-Literate, so I do require a paragraph for any descriptions, as well as a paragraph per character per post at the minimum.
6. The rp does take place in Yellowstone. I'll try to keep things accurate in terms of territory and places, but I'm sure I'll make mistakes. So please feel free to correct me, but be gentle. Im trying. <3
7. I reserve the right to deny any character applications for this Rp. Though I like to give people the chance to join, so I'll probably tell you why.
8. Drama in Rp is welcomed and sometimes encouraged, but drama outside of Rp is not allowed. If you have any issues, please pm me so we can sort it out.
9. Please feel free to subplot and plot with your characters to create interesting scenarios and dynamics.

The Pack Rules
1. Kills are shared, with small meals given to those in need of it most. Pups specifically will always be prioritized to be fed once the pack has them.
2. Only the Alpha pair are to have pups until after their first litter has reached a year old. Wolves can have mates, and future litters, but to increase the odds of the Alpha's litter living, it's been decided that no other wolves will have pups until after.
3. Dispersals are to be reported immediately to the pack Leaders. They're tolerated in the territory, but not around the pack, unless wishing to join.
4. All wolves are to take part in day to day duties, such as hunting, patroling, scent marking, etc. |

Pack Hierarchy
Alpha Male: & Alpha Female:
These are the mated pair that lead the pack. Currently the Wayfinders do not have an Alpha Female, since she has passed away, however, it is highly unlikely it will stay this way. These two lead the pack together, with neither above the other, though sometimes personalities do cause one to be viewed as more dominant. Their position can be challenged for, however, the challenger must challenge the stronger of the two, usually the male, since it would be unfair to fight a pregnant or nursing female. This way it is a fair fight.
Beta:
This is the Second in Command of the pack, and usually is a male wolf. The second helps the Alphas lead, especially when one of them is unable to for whatever reason. They're trained by the alpha to be able to lead in their stead if something ever happens until the pack has a new alpha. Usually this wolf is also by far the most loyal of the pack to the Alpha pair. This position can be challenged for, but only with the Alpha's permission.
Delta:
This would essentially be the Third in Command of the pack, and can be either sex. While the Delta is trained to help lead the pack as well, their main responsibility lies with the pups of the pack. They're almost always on Pup watch, unless both Alphas are at the den, and specifically are there to help guard the Alpha Female and her Pups, especially during vulnerable times. Their loyalty is supposed to be absolute, maybe even above the Beta, because of their closeness to the pups. This means this position is rarely ever successfully challenged for, and more often than not, the Alpha will decide when to change who fills the rank. Wolves do not tend to grow old with this rank, as the Delta is usually always going to be a capable wolf in their prime.
Pack Members:
These are all the rest of the adult wolves in the pack, and make up the bulk of it. They're charged with hunting, defending, scouting, etc. There does tend be a hierarchy within the Pack Members based on dominance, but it's fluid and ever changing.
Yearlings:
These are the pups from the previous year, who are older than 1 but younger than 2. Currently there are none in the pack. However, if there were they would join all of the adults in the daily duties, learning how to be a full fledged member of the pack.
Pups:
These are the pups of the pack below the age of one, they remain around the densite until they're closer to a year old. Once they reach around the 8 month mark, they can join the adults in different things, but not actively participate. Currently there are none in the pack.
Omega:
This is the singular wolf who is viewed to be the weakest. Whether they were a runt, or not a good hunter, whatever the cause is, they've landed in this spot. The Wayfinders don't treat their Omega particularly poorly, and if anything the Omega helps keep the peace when tensions are high. However, they do tend to eat last, etc. |
