- Plot -

Muse A is an eternal ruler, a diety of a great and powerful empire. He is a deity among many others scattered throughout the mortal realm, the only one without significant weakness for he is unmated. In the mortal realm, a ruler without a mate is strong and unhindered. A ruler with a mate is vulnerable. After countless centuries, Muse A was never actually blessed with a mate and he is notably content with his freedom. He has benefitted from the absence of this weakness, only to one day learn that his mate has come along, fated to be with him even as she doesn't know of these powerful forces. She is the daughter of a farmer, a peasant girl with no knowledge of the world of royalty and all its many dangers. Knowing that potential enemies could exploit his weakness should they learn of her, he brings her to the palace and goes through with the bonding ceremony– a ritual that tethers their lives together. Muse B will live as long as he does, and she is granted a small measure of his power. While Muse A will always remain immortal, the power that is granted to his mate will be forever lost should she die. To ensure that she is unharmed, his mate is kept in his palace, only allowed to go so far and never allowed to leave it. She is essentially his prisoner, and he refuses to interact with her despite the innate magnetism she possesses. But, when his mate falls ill, he must remain by her side so that the strength of their bond can heal her.

Physical Description:

Not only is Kholios the deity of war—he is an absolute masterpiece appearance-wise. The god carries himself with an eerie sort of gracefulness, his presence foreboding and dark, and his intense gaze seeming to look through your soul, as if he holds the weight of countless battles and the whispers of the fallen within him. Kholios stands at an imposing 6 foot 7 inches, weighing just over 235 pounds. To put simply, the man is jacked, a living embodiment of physical prowess and intimidation. His frame is well-muscled but lean enough not to appear bulky, a testament to his rigorous training and relentless discipline.

His squared shoulders lead to muscular arms that ripple with strength, and an impressive back that speaks of a warrior’s life dedicated to both combat and endurance. His middle is made up of toned muscle, an easily spotted six-pack across his abdomen that serves as both armor and a symbol of his unwavering commitment to his role as a deity. His legs are strapping and long, built for speed and agility on the battlefield, allowing him to navigate the chaos of war with both finesse and power.

Kholios's hands, calloused yet surprisingly gentle to the touch, reveal the duality of his nature; they are capable of both destruction and tenderness. Noticeable veins snake across the top of his hands and on his forearms, each one a testament to his physical exertion and the battles he has fought. In terms of his face, Kholios is ever the god-like figure, exuding an aura of both magnetism and intimidation. With a strong jaw, his jawline is sharp, accentuating his high cheekbones that are hollowed to give him a regal appearance, one that commands respect and fear in equal measure. His chin is sharp and rounded at the end, lending to the overall sculpted perfection of his visage.

His nose, more Grecian than anything, appears sharp and narrow with a slight upturn at the tip, adding an air of aristocracy to his features. His lips, a light pinkish-grey color, are well-defined, with the bottom lip slightly fuller than the upper, where two distinct points lay, giving him an enigmatic smile that can shift from inviting to menacing in an instant. His eyes, hooded with sharper edges, make him come off almost always cold or bored, yet they hold a depth that suggests a myriad of untold stories. The dark grey color of his irises deepens to a lighter shade around the outer edges, creating an almost hypnotic effect as they seem to scan and analyze everything in their path. Long, thick lashes frame his eyes, enviable in their beauty, and his gaze, piercing and unwavering, seems to stare right through you as if keeping secrets is a thing anymore.

Kholios’s brows are always on point, thick with a sharp incline near the ends, giving him a fierce yet handsome appearance that is both captivating and intimidating. His hair is a striking silvery-blonde color that seems to shimmer and shine when caught by the sun, adding to his ethereal presence. It is healthy and thick, soft to the touch, styled in a loosely slicked-back manner with a few rebellious strands framing his face, enhancing his rugged allure.

When it comes to his style of clothing, Kholios opts for dark and minimalistic attire, a purposeful choice that adds an element of mystery and intimidation when meeting him. He is almost always seen wearing a black cloak and hood, which billow dramatically around him, enhancing his imposing stature. His voice is deep and rumbling, a husky sound that can either come off as persuasive and seductive or cold and distant, echoing in the chambers of his castle and leaving those who hear it captivated or unnerved. In every aspect, Kholios embodies the essence of a war god—beautiful yet terrifying, captivating yet distant, a true masterpiece of both form and function in a world where the line between beauty and brutality often blurs.

Physical Description:

Despite being raised in a life of peasantry, Nefeli is a woman of true beauty. She holds herself with a quiet confidence, her head always held high, but not so high that she might drown should it rain. She has a warm and welcoming presence, giving off the feeling that one could approach her with absolutely anything for help and she would not turn them away. Standing at a gracious 5'6" and just over 120 pounds, Nefeli exudes grace and agility. Her frame is slender yet feminine, curving where it matters while remaining slim in other places. Though lithe and soft, Nefeli is in rather good shape for her size, a testament to the fact that she works on the very farm her father tends.
Her narrow, delicate shoulders and collarbones lead into thin, graceful arms that bear the smallest amount of muscle. She works hard pulling weeds and kneading dough, and she often is required to lift things heavier than a lady would typically be caught carrying. Her bust is ample in size, generously proportioned to line up with her wide hips. Her waist, however, is narrow and thin, giving her an hourglass figure many have sought after. Most of her height comes from her legs, though not in a way that would make her look awkward. Her thighs are thick and bear just enough muscle to signify a life of work, just like her arms. When she is not working, she can often be found climbing and pulling herself up into trees so that she can hide away peacefully with a book.
Nefeli's hands are small and dainty, the skin softer than one would expect considering her firm grip and willingness to work. Her fingers are nimble and slender, skilled perfectly for slipping into small spaces, often wherever they do not belong. The woman is quite the pretty face, some having rumored her to have been crafted by the Goddess of Beauty herself. Her features are soft and elegant, her face just as warm and delightful as the rest of her would suggest. Her jaw is a lightly defined slope, slimming down into a narrow chin of her heart shaped face. High cheekbones bring definition to her features, though her cheeks are still full, giving her a youthful appearance. Playful freckles dance over the apples of her cheeks and over her nose, the light speckles of brown seeming strategically placed.

Her nose is best described as button-like, narrow with a rounded and faintly upturned end. Her lips are full and pouty, their color always seeming to hold a pink, rosy hue, which increases in intensity when the weather grows cold. Her eyes are bright and doe-like with long, dark lashes that are perfectly made for fluttering should she need a little persuasion to get whatever it is that she wants. Their color is of the deepest green, rich as if she has emeralds set right into her sockets. The area around her pupil grows darker and flecks of shimmering gold add depth into her intoxicating gaze. One could get lost in her eyes for hours, divulging into all the stories that they may share should they look deep enough. For on the surface she appears curious and eager, but deep down she is guarded and casts a mask over her true emotions more often than not.
Her eyebrows delicately define her face, the gentle arches meticulously manicured so that not a hair is out of place. It only adds to the graceful and beautiful countenance of her face. Her hair is a deep mahogany brown with lighter shades of rich chocolate adding warmth to the long, silky strands. The thick mass falls down to the small of her back in cascading waterfall curls, tangle free and well kept at all times. Though it is most often left down and flowing, at times she with tie half of it back with a strip of ribbon to keep it from her face. However, even then a few rouge strands fall to frame her pretty face.
As far as attire goes, Nefeli is always dressed in a simple manner. She prefers lighter colors such as baby pink and lilac, but she reserves outfits of such shades for when she is simply strolling about the village. She is often found in a milk-maid style of dress, the fabric soft and flowy as it reaches her ankles. A corset back laces everything up nice and tight while a white, off the shoulder long sleeve beneath adds an extra flair of elegance while accentuating her collarbones and neck. Often at her waist sits a thin black belt with various pouches and small satchels containing of herbs, spices, coins, or other little tools she may need throughout her day.
When she is not taking a lesiure day and is at home or working, Nefeli's wardrobe takes a drastic change from pretty and feminine to practical and plain. Instead of dresses, she'll adorn neutral colored blouses paired with well-fitting black trousers and boots. She often will wear old black gloves to protect her hands, especially when she is helping her father in the gardens or with any of the animals. For cold or windy days, Nefeli will adorn a gorgeous white cloak with fur lining the inside as well as the hood. She takes the utmost care to keep it cleaned and in impeccable shape, as it is the last thing that she has of her mother's belongings.
Nefeli is nothing short of beautiful and welcoming. Even her voice is like an angel's song, soft and sweet. It flows off of her tongue like warm honey, silky and thick. Her voice holds depths that one would not believe and it can even be commanding despite the gentle resonance that rings throughout her tone.

The young peasant woman, Nefeli, is a humble creature who knows very well what it means to live within her own means. She has lived a simple life, but she is grateful for that. It has led her into being a kind, compassionate woman who is not nearly as prideful and egotistical as many of the individuals of nobility are. She is revered for the way she treats other as well as her willingness to drop whatever she is doing to aid whoever is in need of help. It wouldn't matter if you were her mortal enemy, if asked to help, Nefeli will indeed help. She is selfless, though it can be easy to say that she is too selfless at times.
She is a quiet person, a wallflower, perhaps. She prefers to watch from the sidelines and observe others from afar to the point she may read them like a book. Although she may seem shy in the early stages of acquaintance, Nefeli is actually quite friendly. She can be playful with a warm, happy countenance that is often quite contagious. She enjoys the thrall of good conversation just as much as she does the silent company of another. She is a people person and does not much care for solitude. She grew up being surrounded by the people in her village for all of her life, leaving her to greatly favor the presence of others. However, she is not a mindless drone waiting for instruction.
Nefeli is well versed in making her own choices and venturing out to do things for herself. She despises having to be dependent on other people, even if she is the one needing help for once. She may grow frustrated if help is forced upon her and may lash out upon such irritation. Feeling helpless is stressful to her, thanks to the fact that she is forever a busy body determined to be on the go doing whatever her heart desires. Only those with a true grasp of power may break through her stubbornness to make her understand that she is not alone in her endeavors and that it is okay to ask for help now and again.
Anyone who knows Nefeli knows that she is a tender woman who stands up for what she believes in, no matter the consequence. She's devout not only to her beliefs, but to those she holds dear as well. Her trust does not go willingly to outsiders, but once it is obtained she will do anything to protect those that she loves. She is undyingly loyal and craves to one day find the one person who deserves all that she has to give. All she wants is to be able to love someone the way that they are meant to be loved in hopes of receiving the same affections.

The abundance of fall flowers at bloom sent fragrant scents through the gentle breeze that ruffled the orange and yellow leaves. It was early in the day, the sun only a quarter of the way through its journey into the highest peak of the sky. The air was cool, but not so that one would catch countless chills. The first frost was quickly approaching, however, sooner than the harvest would like. The frost would snub out the remaining healthy herbs, so the time to collect was quickly nearing its end.

Up with the sun, Nefeli dressed in her typical daily dress, one that was a shade of pale purple. She adorned her mother's cloak and tied her hair back with ribbon before setting out of their little cottage with a wicker basket lined with red and white checkered fabric on her arm. She was not the only to have awoken that early, as her father was just outside feeding the animals their breakfasts.
"Papa, I'm off to fill the reserves for my herb collection as well as for the apothecary," Nefeli informed him, placing a quick parting kiss to his cheek.
"Be careful, my child. You still have the dagger that I have given you?" Dante questioned, his white hair ruffling in the wind as he looked to his daughter. Nefeli smiled and nodded, gently kicking out her left leg to gesture to the weapon's whereabouts. "I never forget it. I'll be back later, but should you need to find me I'll be in the west meadow," she assured him, giving one more reassuring smile before bounding off down the dirt path.

The village was still sleepy, but a few of its inhabitants were as alive and ready as the cheerful woman who strolled down the streets. Greetings were made in passing and idle conversation took place now and again, but no one stopped for more than a couple of minutes. Though tiny, the village was constantly at work, thriving with one another's help. The saying that 'it takes a village' was correct in all aspects, all the way from the exchange of goods to the raising of children, just as they all raised Nefeli from her young age.

Eventually Nefeli finished her journey to the west meadow, the walk having been around fifteen minutes away from the village. She had never been much further than that very meadow, but she was content with that fact. She was more than happy live out her little life peacefully. To gather flowers and herbs in that meadow for years to come. Though... that was not to say that she didn't crave more from time to time. She felt as though she might be destined for more, but then again, what girl did not dream of fairytales and things beyond belief? Casting those thoughts aside, Nefeli sunk to her knees in the lush grass. She hummed softly to herself as she began to work, sorting through the green in search for the fresh herbs that she needed. She was careful not to over pick, leaving enough so that the plants would come back the next season. Certain in her safety, Nefeli did not pay much mind to her surroundings. No harm ever became her there. In fact, she wasn't sure she'd ever met another soul in that meadow...

The wind of autumn's harvest billowed to the sides of the towering young man cloaked in his regular attire; a well-fitted dark silver suit of armor with a layered, sharp pauldron that trailed down his arms and hands to create a jagged-edged gauntlet. A long, sweeping cloak followed him- enveloping his frame as he moved down the staircase outside of the lonely stone and ivy-covered castle. The man's head was covered by a matching dark hood- ending just over his eyes, which were one of the only features visible through his silver mask. The time of year had come- to Kholios's most distaste - to gather medical herbs or whatever his healer wanted to call them... he saw the plants as weeds, but whatever. As this was one of the only times Kholios would leave his lair every year, he always decided it best to go out to the nearby town to check in on how things were running and if he needed to put in some...work. The apothecary in the village was also well known for its herbs so Kholios supposed it was right that he was headed there.

The man couldn't have been bothered to take the twenty-minute trek from his stronghold to the village on foot so he decided to ride upon one of the castle's mounts- a rather regal-looking warhorse with the name of Caspian—a rather fitting name for the raven-black stallion. Kholios took the reigns from the stablehand without a word, nudging Caspian into a canter as they made their way down the winding path of the rather bare forest now that the leaves were starting to fall. Ten minutes hadn't passed when the walls of the village came into view- the gates wide open, as ever. Deciding he didn't want to deal with the questionnaire and the fuss that guards were sure to give him, Kholios made a split-second decision to cloak himself in the shadows that followed his path- or in simple terms, making Caspian and himself disappear until he was inside the walls of the town.

Strapping the friesian horse to a mounting post, Kholios made his way through the shadows of the town, his head down and posture cat-like. He stopped in an alleyway only to find that the building he was meant to be visiting was closed for the week. Wonderful. A sneer drew itself onto his lips as he turned from the alleyway and paced to a nearby stand in which an older man seemed to be selling his wares. Trinkets lining the tables... all of which looked rather useless to be completely honest.

"Ah! Good day sir. Is there anyth-"

The man's cheerful voice trailed off as soon as Kholios's head lifted to meet his gaze, and the god could practically see the air that drew in sharply from his nostrils and the rigid posture that then followed. Kholios spoke slowly, his tone low and rumbling as his eyes scanning the man's face.

"You could tell me where I am to go if I should be looking for medicinal herbs."

The man opened his mouth to speak but Kholios's hand raised to hush him.

"And don't bother me with saying I should visit the Apothecary. I'm not daft. Finding her emporium closed this morning was far more aggravating than I should let on."

A silence fell between the two men and after another moment the older man blinked, seemingly taken from the trance that was staring at the horns protruding from Kholios's mask.

"Oh- I...yes, of course. The best place to go around this time of year would be the West Meadow, around 15 minutes or so from town."

The white-haired man's unsure gaze raked over Kholios once more before he opened his mouth to certainly ask who the deity was. Instead, the young man pulled out a hefty bag of silver coins he'd adopted throughout the year and handed it to the elder.

"You won't speak of this interaction with anyone."

The old man's eyes widened as he took the sack, taking a minute to process it before looking up at Kholios and nodding.

The ride to the West Meadow was as the old man had said- roughly fifteen minutes out of town. The trip on horseback made it a tad quicker but the rocky path was a struggle to get through. Kholios pulled Caspian into a slow, steady trot as he made his way through the meadow- his eyes scanning for the herbs he'd seen so many times in his healer's apothecary. Something caught the man's gaze...and it wasn't the herbs that he was supposed to be plucking. It was a girl. From where he sat on horseback she looked to be in her mid-twenties, with long mahogany-colored hair, and dressed in simple yet fitting attire. She appeared to be collecting herbage and flowers, her soft humming sounding quietly through the meadow as she worked methodically. Kholios's brows drew together and he abruptly pulled the reins to turn in the girl's direction- clicking his tongue against his mouth to pull Caspian into a smooth canter up the hill until he was a safe but interactional distance from the girl, pulling back on the reigns and stopping to her side. His throat cleared, his dark grey eyes peering from the shadows of his mask and hood.

"There wouldn't happen to be Cottonweed in this meadow, would there? Or have I come too late in the season..."

His voice trailed off as soon as his gaze met the girl's face. She was attractive- no, not even attractive. The young woman in front of him was breathtaking. And there was something about her... and it made Kholios wary as to know he in fact was unaware of why there would ever be something with a peasant girl. His brows came together and his eyes narrowed slightly as he studied her. Caspian snorted impatiently, his back hooves taking turns stomping the ground as his tail swished aggravatingly back and forth.
