Adalia Mira Leon

"Ada"

Aye-dah

Female / 21 / Straight

Adalia is the only child to the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Reyes. Growing up as the only child she has been given the best of everything. Teachings, clothing, care, you name it, she was given it. Being the only child means she is also the only and next heir to the throne, a position to become Queen once her father has passed.

Personality

Ada is a what many would say a free soul. She would rather be in the woods, climbing trees or swimming in a lake rather than being stuck inside tending to royal duties. Growing up she was given more freedom to roam and get dirty, but as she has come to age, it is time to prepare for the throne, even if it could be years away. Ada is known for sneaking out of the castle and royal grounds, running rampant through the towns. She loves her people, constantly leaving to help shops and farmers.

She is a kind and caring soul, but she is fierce and hot headed. Her temper can flare like that of a dragon at times even if she does not mean it. And with that temper comes her strength. Growing up and even currently she has trained her mental and physical strength. She is smart, able to come up with quick solutions and is deadly with a sword, who would of thought for a princess. Though Ada has a temper and her free soul, she knows when and how to act. She knows the impending future means her role as queen, she knows she much act as one but she wants to relish the last few years she has to do as she pleases

Appearance

Ada is a stunning young lady, her locks of long, flowing blond hair seem to be strands of gold, her bright blue eyes reflecting pools that souls can be lost in. She stands roughly at 5 foot and 7 inches, her frame long and slender, arms slightly muscled from training. She bares a scar on her left forearm from playing with swords as a kid, a reminder to always watch her blind spots.

‎‧₊˚✧Deryn Lysander Witherfell✧˚₊‧

Pyro | Ryn | Withers

Gender Male

Age 23

Deryn's family name holds a nobility that does not suit him. Coming from a long line of nobles and knights, each generation is typically recruited to be stationed at the capital, keeping the royal family safe from harm. That life did not suit Deryn and so he fled when an opportunity arose when he turned 17.

Personality

Deryn is a sarcastic charmer, with the gift of the gab, he is a talker. Some may label him disrespectful for his level of blasé attitude. He cares for those that care for him, if they lose use or turn their back on him, he will leave them behind.

As a boy, he was trained militia style to prepare him for his life long job of guard to the royal family. Something that never appealed to him, what fun and adventure was there in standing around a crumbling castle that no one could possibly be stupid enough to try and attack. When a stranger passed through the city, Deryn caught their eye and so he was whisked away.

Although he is generally a friendly character, Deryn can be cruel if need be.

Appearance

Deryn stands at 6'2" now as an adult, his skin a tanned golden from his nomadic life. His hair is cut short at the sides with a toussled mop of twisting hair on the top, the colour of a blackbird's feathers. Coinsidently, tied into a piece of hair on the left temple is a small black feather.

His eyes are a bright golden brown, like honey catching in the sun. Deryn's body is well toned, muscles strengthened from years of flight training and his work. Cracking across the right side of his torso is a large marred mass of scar tissue, mangling the skin, paler than the rest of his body.

Strengths

1. Charismatic - a charmer, a crooked smile. He's hard to argue with.

2. Intelligent - Deryn is a quick thinker, able to whip up ideas on the spot. A great asset to his group and their work.

3. Loyal - Deryn will commit himself to a cause or people he deems deserving of it and once he has, ripping him away from their side is extremely difficult.

Weaknesses

1. Lonely - While he may have his friends and his group, he spends a great deal of his time alone and he likes it. Well, not completely alone, he is more likely to be found with his dragon than with other people most days.

2. Angry - After he left the city, he heard word of his parent's barely caring. Moving onto his younger brother to replace him, it was like he didn't exist. He is angry at himself for feeling upset about it and angry at the city.

3. Greedy - He loves his job. Jewels, money, gold, oh it's all so beautiful to Deryn.

Likes

1. Dragons

2. Wealth

3. Out-witting his opponents.

Dislikes

1. Rain

2. Fish

3. The cold.

Family

Mother - Alyssa Witherfell | 54

Father - Ericson Witherfell | 58

Younger brother - Elias Witherfell | 18

★。/|\。★

Age

102

Gender

Female

Class:

Fire

Appearance

Silvesse stands at 15 feet at the shoulder, her head extending further, long and elegant another 6 feet before her head forms. She is 40 feet long, a great majority of this length being her tail.

Her scales are a dark charcoal grey, scattered throughout with tiny golden flecks that blend into the shadows. Her legs are long, thin but muscular, tipped with claws fiercely long. Three toes pointing forward that she stands on and one facing backwards for balance. Along her belly and underside of her neck are thickened deep red, almost black scales that protect her organs from attack.

Her head is narrow, graceful long horns extend up from her head, curving slightly backwards. Other smaller horns adorn the sides of her head. Her eyes are a bright red, the sclera yellowed.

Her wings are the same colour as her scales, but the membranes are blood red, fading to black the closer to the main frame of the wings they get.

They had been flying since dawn, they needed to in order to reach their destination perfectly on time. The sky was now begining to tinge with the setting sun, the light blue fading to a heavy orange as the minutes ticked by. There was little wind, making it difficult for the dragons to drift, they were tired and growing irritated.

Deryn's leather clad hands gripped the handle of his saddle, tucked behind Silvesse's crown of horns, protecting him from the buffeting air as they sliced through it. His legs gripped tight into the saddle to ensure he did not fall to his death.

This is growing tiresome. Silvesse's voice quipped in his head, annoyance dripping from each word. The comment drew up a sigh from Deryn's lungs. He knew she was going to start complaining, she was built for speed and agility not long grueling flights. We will be there soon, it's almost sunset. We shouldn't be far. He tried to reassure, which only granted him a heavy huff of hot air from Silvesse's mouth. At least she wasn't complaining more.

They were in fact minutes away, ahead of him his leader raised a hand, his dark blue dragon's tail flicking at the same time. The group of six dragons lifted their eyes to the pair in front. They had arrived.

Indeed, Deryn looked past the others and down at the ground. A winding, well-trodden path was indeed spawled out beneath them. A royal convoy trailing along. Perfect. There would be plenty to plunder from this group.

In unison, the dragons banked to the left before they could be spotted. Their time would come but not just yet.

~ ~ ~

Once the light had faded from the sky and the moon had begun to rise, it was time. Lowering closer to the ground, the group moved silently behind the convoy, growing closer and closer to their quarry.

Deryn's eyes were narrowed behind the flight goggles fitted around his head with a leather strap. His black leather riding clothes blending into the dark colours of Silvesse. They would be the instigator. Silvesse was the only dragon dark enough in colour and fast enough to swoop in and take the group be surprise. Hold on tight. Silvesse's voice was barely audible. Immediately, the female snapped her wings in close to her body and they began to free fall towards the convoy. Deryn gritted his teeth as the force being pelted at his form, his knuckles white under the gloves.

Once they were on top of the main carriage, a few guards lifted their heads, eyes widening in surprise as the sight of a full grown dragon mere meters above their heads. Silvesse flicked her wings back out as her legs outstretched towards the carriage, her maw splitting, displaying her deadly sharp teeth, a few glinting silver in the moonlight. An deafening, gutteral scream shooting out from her as her sharp claws slammed into the roof of the carriage. The horses pulling it brayed and began to panic. The guards lifting their weapons in a mess of yelling and scrambling.

In one swift movement, Silvesse ripped the roof from the carriage, almost knocking it onto its side. Deryn winced at the movement, it pulled on the tough scar tissue on his side.

Looking down, Deryn dug his heel into Silvesse's scales. The female span around, her tail arching behind her, she threw the roof of the carriage towards the guards closest to her. Her eyes glowed with fury, a simmering of flames begining in her maw. An echoing clicking sound emitting from her throat, a few moments later she unleashed her flames around the group. Their aim wasn't to kill, no it was to panic. The flames flew and burst around the grass, lighting the path and surrounding foliage a light. Now, Deryn's companions could swoop in and continue the chaos.

This was a typical ploy in their group, panic the people. They flee, fearing for their lives, Deryn gets the goods, they fly away. Easy enough to say, harder to carry out. Some people were stubborn.

Silvesse reared, dissappearing into the night. Deryn would make his return, but after his friends had finished their work.

The soft rocking of the carriage felt as if it was permanently engraved into Adalia’s body, it was constant and would not cease. Adalia loved to travel, but on horseback, not inside the carriage. The princess had been traveling three days now from a bordering Kingdom, she had been sent to tend to diplomatic duties, the King wanting her to try it out herself since she was to rule. It had all went very well, a new trade alliance started for crops. Adalia grew bored of her travels though, it was long, quiet, she was not let out of the carriage unless they had fully stopped for the night. Her legs ached, screaming in agony as her calves cramped up. The air was hot and stuffy, and how she yearned to be rid of her royal attire and replace it for one of casualty.

The princess found some amusement in braiding the strings along the curtains inside, the golden strands fraying and being braided right back up. Occasionally she would read excerpts from a book she was gifted, one that told wonderful stories of mythical creatures that had once ruled the land. Adalia had always had a wild mind, she loved learning of the sirens that inhabited the sea, how unicorns once roamed the mountains and valleys. She knew there were still dragons in the shadows of the land, but rarely were they heard of, so she thought. Glancing outside the carriage window she wondered how much longer they had left of their journey. The sun was slowly starting to set, the deep orange light filtering through the trees, darkness slowly taking over.

A small knock sounded on the side of the carriage causing Adalia to pull the curtain aside, her bright blue eyes looking out. “Another hour M’Lady and we shall camp, we will reach Reyes by noon in the morning when we set off” The knight who rode beside the carriage said. “Very well,” Adalia replied. She was grateful their travels were soon over, she needed to stretch and finally get some cool air.

Adalia had gone back to reading, using the small flame of the lantern inside the carriage to read the neatly written words on parchment. Her mind had been taken elsewhere, toning out the world beyond. The pounding of horses' hooves and the rattling of armor paused all at once. The sudden silence and abrupt stop caused Adalia to pull back to reality, her soft brows furrowing. She reached forward to open the curtain to see what the issue was, maybe a fallen tree? Suddenly her body was thrown forward as sharp claws pierced the ceiling above her, the carriage rocking harshly on its wheels. The silence turned into a gutteral sound of screams, roars and panicked brays.

Adalia felt as if her heart had just been pulled from her chest, panic flushing over her skin as her hands scrambled for something to hold on to as the carriage rocked dangerously on its side. What was happening? What was that? Shouts filled the air as knights dismounted from their steeds, the sound of metal swords being pulled from their sheaths erupting in unison. “Protect the Princess!” One shouted, men trying their best to surround the carriage. Adalia’s breath became quick, her eyes wide as she steadied herself, looking up to the sky as the sound of the roof being tossed boomed.

Adalia was trapped, where was she to go? What was she to do? The light of flames lit up the dark shadows of the forest around them, ungodly sounds of the beast above echoing and ringing in Adalia’s ears. She stood and pulled the door to the carriage open, pausing and blocking her face with her hand as more flames burst around the foliage. The knights scrambled to find safe positions, yelling and calling to one another as they dodged flames. Instinct kicked in, Adalia knew she had to protect herself. The beast above was distracted by the men below who stood their ground, it was time. The princess quickly looked around, grabbing a lone sword that must have fallen from a knight. She held it tight and took the chances, darting for the dark shadows of the woods the flames had not reached. Her throat and chest burned against the crisp air, the adrenaline in her blood the only thing keeping her from stopping. She did not know what to do or where to go, she would be lost.

The chaos continued to unfold before them, Silvesse hovered above the burning flames as her companions brought down their brute force, scattering the men. Deryn's lips cracked into a smile, this was easy. Surveying the land below, he watched as Ranger's mottled brown dragon lifted itself up from the ground, his powerful wings flattening the men around him with the force of the air being shifted. He was headed for Deryn.

Silvesse narrowed her eyes as the male ascended to their level, Ranger had to shout in order to be heard.

"Boss says to look out for some princess, they were hollaring about protecting 'er. Could be a good ransom!" The older man lifted one hand from his saddle and arched it around the perimeter of the flames. "Reckon she's going to run, they always do." Ranger grinned, his dragon dive bombing back to the ground.

A ransom, really? Deryn clicked his tongue. They had carried out ransoms before but not on nobility. He did not think this was a good idea. The old man is growing careless. Silvesse grunted. Deryn lacked the words to respond, she was right. With a sigh, he gave Silvesse the signal to begin circling the area.

The flames were still roaring, lighting up anything in its path. Deryn's stomach twisted, he would hate to be on the receiving end of Silvesse's fury. Knights were clamouring, staggering in their weak defence against the onslaught of five dragons. He admired their bravery, but they were still weak. If they were smarter than they were brave, they would have fled. Just then, a glint in the darkness. His head snapped up, in the distance a pale figure was dashing for the nearby treeline. The only one not wearing armour and the only one not staying to protect this princess. Bingo.

Silvesse gave a low grumbling sound as she arched her wings to redirect her lithe body towards the figure. Do not hurt her, we get no money then. Deryn had to remind Silvesse, she could be...over-zealous. Her reply was a sharp dip in altitude that flipped her rider's stomach, Deryn gripped the handle harder after slipping a hand up to lift his black bandana up over his nose, leaving a sliver of skin visible by his cheeks.

They were fast approaching the figure, the wings of his beast silent as they glided every closer. Now, he could see long blonde hair, unbound. Certainly not a knight, except in her hand she gripped a sword. Deryn quirked a brow at the sight, it's not like that sword would do much to Silvesse but still..

Silvesse gave a mighty heave of her wings and their sped over the top of the woman, immediately spinning, her tail clashing against the trees as the dragon skidded to a halt. Her huge claws drew great rifts in the earth beneath them. Silvesse's head lowered to the ground, her lips curling to reveal those shining teeth and upon her back, Deryn.

The man in all black, lifted a hand, his flight goggles and bandana obscuring his face. His hair windswept, but beneath the goggles his eyes were bright with excitement. Perhaps his boss wasn't so crazy, a noble lady's ransom would have to be high. Behind the woman, the sky was bright with fire and the sounds of battle only slightly fainter.

"Hello darling." Deryn smirked beneath his mask. "You're coming with me." His voice was deep, a slight rasp to his words but a clarity consistent with good schooling. Obviously she was going to object, but what could she do to stop him. Silvesse's throat clicked with build up, she was preparing to scare the life out of this woman. From her maw, a smoke billowed and the faint orange light began to build up at the back of her mouth.

One by one the knights fell, whether it be from the power of the dragon's wings or the flames that rose to great heights. Each step ached through her tired legs, her side crying in pain from the sudden jolt and fall inside the carriage as a bruise began to form. Her breath heaved harshly as she continued to push herself, the echoes of screams surrounding her. She did not know where she was going, but all she knew was she had to run. She had to remember at that moment all the training she had learned, how to defend herself, never let in, she was the only one who could save herself. The flames seemed to only rise, as if she could not get away from the light. Once in the shadows she could hide.

She felt as if she was almost far enough away to be noticed, but she was wrong. The pounding sound of wings above surrounded her, the wind of each beat jostling her golden strands of hair. Adalia stumbled to a halt as the great beast spun around, her claws digging herself to a halt before the royal. Adalia stood, her sword placed in front of her as she looked on with wide eyes. She was struggling to catch her breath but stood tall, this is not how she would die.

Adalia watched, her chest heaving rapidly as she stood, her slender frame dressed in grand fabrics of reds and golds, the crest colors of her family. Jewelry glistened against her fair skin from the light of the flames that illuminated behind her. This woman was clearly one of wealth, and one created by the angels. For being so stunning she sure knew how to at least defend herself. She held a strong stance, her eyes never leaving those of the man and dragon.

“You will have to kill me before I come with you” She called out, her fair voice slightly shaken with fear. That voice was so familiar, one as smooth as the sirens of the sea. Adalia locked eyes with the dragon as her throat clicked, the heat rippling from her open mouth as she stood face to face. “I am not scared of you” She finally said, adjusting the grip of the sword she held, her knuckles fading to white as her grip tightened.

Adalia looked back to the rider, her brows furrowing as she tried to see his face, but to no avail it was covered well enough. “You don't have to do this” She said, wincing at the sounds of screams that rippled behind her. The roar of other dragons turned into a symphony, one of harm as they enjoyed the confrontation with their riders. When the beast neared her, she stepped back, she knew this sword, though much too big for her, would have no damage to this beast. Her breath still hitched slightly, her heels upon her feet sinking in the damp ground below. She tried to slowly start circling the beast, to somehow find coverage, but she was only met with a soft spot in the ground. Her ankle twisted, failing to hold the weight of her body. The royal stumbled, the sword falling from her grip as she reached to catch herself, wincing and hissing as the quick pain shot up her leg. Quickly she reached forward, grabbing the sword once more to defend herself from the ground. She was not going to give up without a fight.

The woman that stood before him amused Deryn, he certainly did not expect her to proclaim she wasn't scared - clearly she was. Her form was shaking and her voice followed suit. Silvesse's eyes narrowed at the claim, taking a slow step towards the woman, the glow burning brighter in her throat. He needed to do something here before his beast burnt her to ashes.

"I most certainly do not want to harm you." Deryn cooed, eyes following the woman. She was right, he didn't have to do this, but he was and the pay off would be beautiful. His ears had grown used to the sound of slamming wings, screams, it faded out of his head. All of his attention on the woman before him and her heavily adorned body. Oh yes, her ransom would be lovely.

Then she stepped and she fell. Deryn's eyes widened, a jolt running through him a second before Silvesse snarled and pounced. Her front legs landing either side of the woman just as she grasped the sword once more. The heat emitting from the creature's mouth hung over the woman, Silvesse's eyes barely visible from how thinly they were narrowed. Deryn swallowed. Right, time to wrap this up before the woman became little more than Silvesse's dinner. He unhooked his legs from the saddle and slid down her shoulder, grasping the spines that poked out from her scales to lower himself to the floor. His boots hit the ground with a heavy thud.

"Alright, darling. It's time to stop playing knight." Deryn began walking towards her, his steps measured. Keenly aware of Silvesse's form beside him, move too quick and it was over. He rounded the side of his dragon, placing a hand on the base of her chest as he did. His black leathers glinting in the light, scuffed and well worn. Deryn brought his hand down from the beast and looked at the woman. "Let's get you -" He paused. His entire form paused, bones frozen in place.

Deryn's eyes narrowed and he silently move close to the woman, his brows crushing down into a frown. He crouched almost on top of her. His head tilting like a curious animals. Silvesse even lifted her head in confusion. What are you doing?! The female shook her head, the heat from her jaws subsiding. I could have burnt you! Her voice was distant in his mind.

Deryn brought a leather clad hand up to the woman's hands, blocking a potential slash from that sword now that he was so close. The other moving the luxury cloth that draped over her. Surely not. What would she be doing so far from her home? In his goggles the flames in the distance relexed off of the dark glass.

Adalia gripped the sword tightly, about to raise it before the force from the dragon knocked her arm down. The heat billowed over her form as the dragon stood right above her, never had she thought she would get this close to a beast like this. It was over, she was trapped. She could not run and she could not fight, this sword would do no damage. Though in her stubborn mind, Adalia did not want to give up so easily. She kept her eyes on the beast, ignoring the man who quickly slid down from his perch upon her back. “Burn me and there is no profit” She growled to the enemy, her feisty temper coming to play, trying to hide her fear. Fear was weakness, and in this situation she could not show it.

She turned to look at the man who neared, his boots crunching the sticks and leaves that covered the floor below them. His clothes glinted softly in the light, clothes made of leather and handmade unlike the fabrics that adorned her body. A clash of rich and poor before them. Adalia pushed herself back slightly as the man bent down, crouching above her form so close she would be able to feel his breath if it weren't for the bandana. His hand blocked her sword, softly pushing it to the side before it fell from her grip. Her eyes were locked on to him, trying to see this man’s true identity.

Her brows furrowed deep in confusion once more as the man tilted his head, even the dragon before them made a noise that sounded of confusion. “Get your filthy hands away from me!” She harshly snapped as the man took the fabric of her dress in his hand, his fingers running against the embroidery. Of everything she wore, the key piece in her identity was the necklace upon her skin. One made of pure gold and diamond. She had worn that piece since a child, given to her on her day of birth once she was announced the heir. It was such an intricate piece, one that if seen before, anyone would recognize.

As the man focused on her, his mind clearly pulled from the task at hand, quickly she used her now free hand to push him away, kicking her stable leg up and against him. She needed to flee, she needed to get home or the kingdom would be at ruin. She called out for help, for any knight that had made it out of the fiery ambush. “Help Me!” She screamed, her voice hoarse from the cold, dry air that surrounded them. Her hands clawed at the roots from the trees, trying to pull herself away while the man was momentarily down. If she was to die, she would die fighting. If these men captured her, she could hardly imagine the horrific things they could do to her. Ideas she had only ever been warned about from the savages that lived in the shadows.
