now what is so bad that I've decided to post about it ? Well let me tell you.
I'm really tired of people who show interest in what I'm selling and then take a look at the price tag and then sneer at me because of the price ( especially when I keep the prices reasonable for what they are looking at, like to be honest i undersell a lot of my stuff, I'm pretty sure i really don't pay for my labor because i price everything on the cheaper side ) I could understand that it's just a bad taste in my mouth because it's happened before but it seems like it's happening constantly and I understand that they could be on a fixed budget or something like that but I look at it like this
" if you're going to a craft show and you're planning on buying things, you better be prepared to spend the cash "
the item this last old lady was wanting to buy and ask I pull out ( as they were under the table due to low space) was 2-4$ scrubbys , and I have the price on the sign, so you know the price of them upfront. And she sneered at me and left in a huff all because I politely pointed out that it will be 8$ because she wanted the scrubbys w/ handles ( those are 4$ because the handle takes more yarn then one without) but she thought they were 2$
maybe I could just move on like I normally do but it seemed like it happened constantly at this last show , like this little girl was begging the aunt( ? Or whatever family members she was with, we never figured it out ) she was with to get her this sewn plushy unicorn but whoever she was with was turned off by the price and downright said " she's not my kid, so I don't have to get it for her " now let me tell you 30$ for that unicorn is cheap ( I think it might cover materials but that's it , like i might make 2$ off it ) and to top it off I'm pretty sure that the dad of said child was annoyed that I had a booth there and that the child wanted the unicorn.
that's another thing that I can't stand , if you're bringing a child to a craft show you should get them something ( I'm not saying they need to buy from me ) but I've seen plenty of children who get dragged to these shows, then child shows interest in multiple things from multiple vendors and the parents say no to everything for the child, the parent walks out with bags from the other vendors filled with towels, earrings, jewelry or whatever else they want while the child has nothing. Once again I understand if a budget is in play for the parents and can't afford anything for the child but then why come and bring the children that you know are going to want something, my sister doesn't take my nephew shopping with her sometimes for that reason
conclusion: i really hate when I'm at a craft show sitting for hours, looking at what I've made , feeling proud that I've made everything on my table and I get sneered at then looked at with clear annoyance all because I love making things
I might come back and post more craft show complaints but that honestly depends on what I get annoyed with at the next one lol
