Character Description

Biography
With wheezing breaths and blood-stained paws, you slow to a halt, head whipping around to ensure you're alone.

A bullfrog croaks for just a split second before its song is cut short with a terrified squeal. You aren't sure what killed it, but hopefully a frog is enough to satisfy the predator.

The silence is heavy, suffocating. A heavy fog is rolling in, quicker than you've ever experienced before, but it provides shelter. Safety. The fog is so dense you can hardly see your own paws, so no one else will be able to see you, either. You may finally rest.

You crouch down, twisting a forepaw around to present the thorns embedded in your pad to your teeth. As you tug at the largest thorn, something catches, and you suck in a sharp breath to avoid yipping in pain. But you cannot run any further in this condition, so you have no choice but to continue with the extraction.

As soon as the first thorn is freed from your paw pad, you spit it out, leaning in close to inspect it.

It's a wicked thing, as long and thick as any of your claws, with a wicked curl reminiscent of the claws of a feline. But this thorn is unlike any other you have seen before, with sharp barbs aimed away from the point, designed to painfully snag on flesh during removal attempts. Many of the barbs are missing - you don't know if they're still embedded in your paw, or if they were torn off before you slid on the thorns.

"It's been quite some time since I've come across a wolf so new to the swamp that they didn't even recognize a cat's claw."

You leap to your paws, spinning around to come face-to-face with a mottled wolf far wider in body than you. Her expression is disdainful, but her tone falls just barely short of placid. It's impossible to determine whether she's welcoming you to the swamp or preparing to drive you out.

With all the hope you can summon for the former, you reply: "My friend was killed earlier after we got lost here. I'm just trying to find my way out. Can you help?"

She eyes you with unmistakable hunger, lips twitching as she fights against a snarl.

You hear her unspoken words. You heed her unspoken warning.

You flee. Thankfully, she does not pursue.
