why is the game all of sudden about squirrels? I woke up this morning and found squirrels everywhere!

My wolves keep repeatedly missing or dealing only 1 or 2 damage to the squirrels I find in explore, even though I was defeating them in just one turn yesterday haha, and the squirrels are dealing around 10 damage? and the battle log says things like "[wolf] admires [squirrel]'s thighs" and "[squirrel] flexes their sweaty muscles and throws nuts at [wolf) to deal extra damage]"

I can update it to say that now grandparents, and only grandparents and parents, can pass defects and boosts onto kits and grandkits :)
