You can sell stuff like art/wolves/items for apples or ask/check forums and sale chat for any available apples members are selling.

Apples are usually equal to about 1000-1500 mush so the best advice I have for you is save up, explore, sell things, and when you have enough mush, you can go buy apples with them :)
