Looks:
Diablo is an imposing figure. He is thick with muscle from head to toes, and has a perpetually scowling face. His shoulders are wide and his hips narrow. He has what could be described as a baby face, with large features. But it looks too dangerous to be described as anything that benign. He is drenched in his species's typical long silky light fur with dark stripes, which is criss-crossed with thin scars over his muzzle and shoulders. His eyes are emotionless dark brown pearls that you can stare into while waiting for him to punish you for whatever rule you have broken.
He could be considered handsome in a bad boy kind of way. When he was the leader of his gang, he had quite a few females hanging off of his every word. His looks have not decreased as he aged, but since he cares even less than he did then, he finds it hard to find more.
Personality:
Diablo is extroverted and is always surrounded by a group of cronies. He loves being in power of them. This does not mean he cares about others, just that he prefers to be around them. Diablo tends to turn to cold thinking and not emotion to make his decisions. The hyena likes the world to be orderly and follow his wishes perfectly. It will put him in a bad mood if anyone disobeys him. He is also determined to follow through on his plans. He is confident in his decisions and not prone to change his mind on a whim.
He has a soft spot for children and won't kill or maul them, unless necessary. Even if he has to, he makes it as painless as possible.
Diablo wants a legacy to help him control whatever gang he's leader of when he is old and frail. Perhaps because of bad karma, maybe just dumb luck, but this will never happen. The Macabre is completely infertile. There is a lingering feeling that this makes him less of a man, but he tries to ignore it. After all, he is a very big, very strong hyena. Who cares if he can't have pups?
Backstory:
Diablo was born into a pack that didn't want him. His birth was the result of an affair, and he never knew his father's name. But the child had more problems than just this. Namely, his half-brother Dante. Dante was small, but cruel and fierce, and most of the young hyenas followed him. He tormented Diablo mercilessly, telling him that he was a mistake and should have never been born. When he tried to turn to his mother's mate, he found only hate in that direction too. The mate sided with his son and even tried to attack Diablo for "spreading falsehoods". But Alét jumped in the way, and her mate, filled with rage and bloodlust, killed her. It was brutal. He showed no remorse. Then he continued punishing the child for the mistake of being born, cutting into his flesh the scars he bears now. Diablo knew he couldn't do anything about it, so he just stared at his mother's body and tried not to cry out.
With this act began the worst period in Diablo's life. Without Alét to hold him back, his mother's mate physically abused him for the slightest of failures. If he showed weakness or God forbid, whimpered in pain, he would be punished even more severely. This went on for a year, Diablo believing that he deserved it for letting his mother sacrifice herself for him.
But one day, Diablo realized that he didn't care. He was strong and bigger than both Dante and his cruel father. He was going to get his vengeance.
That night, he waited until everyone else was asleep. Then he attacked Dante, and dragged his unconscious body to a cave. Then he ran back to the den and woke up the other hyena. He whispered to him that his son, his precious son, was in a cave, and he was going to die. Then he told him to come. The distraught father had no choice but to follow. Diablo led him to the cave.
Then brutally and with lots of gore, Diablo killed Dante before his father's eyes. He smiled coldly while he tore his half-brother limb from limb. Then he turned to the older hyena and killed him too. This time he was more clinical and efficient. He didn't have to play with anyone's emotions now.
Diablo fled into the night. Slowly he amassed a group of followers that were attracted to his cruelty and the promise that they would not be harmed as long as they obeyed him. But these followers only followed him as long as he had control. When he was 4 years old, one of them, a young upstart named Rui challenged him for leadership of their merry band, and won. Diablo could not live as a subordinate and so he left.
