I redesigned one of my characters! The first picture is ? at least 3 years old I think. She's an elf technically but she's half banshee as well |

I have to get to work learning to draw humans. Decided to finally try writing a story. I have charecters I've developed and love, all flawed and beautifal. Somehow 6+ main characters ended up with black hair :') But I'm pretty sure thats because: It was the main character's origanal design. One character is his younger almost twin looking brother Another character is his older almost twin looking sister. Two of the characters are his close cousins. And one of the characters is Japanese. I set this up so weirdly, what the hell- Why do so many of them have black hair. I'm going to have to come up with six+ different blacks to draw them all with. Why did I do this to myself :) Time to make some changes I see... |

I'd suggest designing the parents first or finding pictures on the internet of 2 real people you think look like how the parents would. Then you can decide different traits to bring out. Like while black hair is a dominant trait my mom is half Japanese with black hair and brown eyes and my dad has dark brown hair with blue eyes. I have auburn hair and green eyes and only one of my gparents have green eyes. All the others have brown or blue. So don't be afraid to mix it up! Genetics is weird XD For siblings a trick that works for me is choosing 1-3 traits that are similar to eachother or the same (usually 2 from one parent and 1 from the other parent) so it's easily recognizable but you don't fall into a trap of "same face/design syndrome" |

@Ramen I normally ignore genetics for the most part because I try not to make everything way too complicated XD I try to stick along with the traits of the parents and grandparents instead of having to make those genetic table things or something I used to have to make for school. Hated making those things. Marely, the beloved main character, father is the one with black hair. I haven't figured out his mother yet even though she lasts longer, but it deffdeientaly won't be black XD |

@Ramen Yeahh, I thought so XD Everytime I hear the word Genetics my mind goes to those horrible tablels my strange sceince teacher would make us do. I hate them :') - Anybody able to come up with character descriptions for me? If anybody would be open to those sorts of commissions I'll give ya a bit of information and such. Just PM me :3 |
