Spring Month: 3

"Disclaimer, this is about the Nintendo switch 2 , I know there are currently some controversy surrounding it, now while I try to understand both sides of the arguments , it seems like there is a new issue every time I turn around , so at the moment I'm just going to enjoy the system and play some games on it"
Only been 7 days but I'm still excited about getting it ( NS2 ) , mainly because back when preorders started I was a day late and the preorders sold out the day before. So I was anxious about getting it/worried about not getting it because if preorders were sold out , who knows if I would be able to even buy it.
So my local game stop was doing a midnight release for it and they were starting pre-rings at 3 PM , now I have never attended one of these midnight releasess before, because anything important I preorder and just pick up on release day ..... couldn't do that this time >.<
so I asked my dad if he could give me a ride there and stand in the line with me there , because like I said I never been to these things before and I was terrified that others in the line would be rude or I would just have an overwhelming reaction to the situation. along with i have my service dog and I didn't want to lose my place in line if Rex had to go.
Let's start with just pulling up , on the ride over there my dad didn't really believe me when I said that there's probably gonna be a line, long story short we get there at 2ish and there's a medium size line, with a family of 5 people sitting in camping chairs at the front. First words out of his mouth were " no way..." when he seen the line. That reaction is still hilarious to me lol
Now we get in line and start waiting for an hour so I can prepay for the NS2, now during that time I was really nervous at first because I've never been to one of these things before, but as I'm standing there a few of the guys ahead of me start making small talk with each other and a mom & her kid that were there, now as there talking about past experiences with midnight releases all I can think of is that the event that I'm witnessing, of these 20 something dude's is comparable to war veterans sitting around telling war stories to each other.
that thought alone calmed me down lol like it took hearing these " war stories " to comprehend that I'm standing in a line with a bunch of other people like me and I don't need to be nervous about this at all lol like the one guy ahead me was even sharing information that the workers said they had X amount of NS2s available and that I should definitely be able to get one because he counted the number of people ahead of us ( more NS2s were available then people were there)
like I was worried about people being rude in the line but everyone there was friendly, polite and joking around with each other about how every delivery truck that pulled up had the NS2s in it and was just dropping them off lol
now fast forward to midnight lol now the workers were unsure about how they would handle the midnight release ( like in the same conversation it was , "the number on your receipt is your place in the midnight line " " no I thought the number was just for the system " ) luckily it was sorted out by midnight. Now my dad takes me over there again and still shocked about the midnight line ( this time it was 5 store fronts down from game stop )
while it's starting to rain and tick closer to midnight people from the front of the line start getting sent to the back of the line.
Now this is something that shocks me a bit, others inline start helping direct people were they should be in line. That right there was a bit mind blowing, like a guy ahead of me asked " what's your number? " " 16 " " go ahead you're up there " as I'm making my way up to 15 & 17 , I see the " war stories " group and they remember me because of my service dog ( side note: them calling Rex adorable was very entertaining)
Now I'm happily playing the new system along with enjoying my older games that run a lot better than they used to, only thing is I'm used to getting game systems after they've been out for a while, so by then there's lots of different ways to customize them, from cases to skins there's something for everyone. Needless to say in my delirium of long exploring on WP and Mario kart filled nights, I was sure I could find a skin in put on my "new system " ................. yeah after about an hour looking I couldn't find anything and was very confused about it for 2 more days.
So after realizing that it is infact new to everyone, not just me, I decided to make my own little way to personalize my NS2 for the moment
( it's the thing with the Dinos on it, it's like a sock that just slides over the dock cover)
