I mean. I think it'd be interesting for the kid who's rather quiet and such to have an enemy or strong dislike for someone. Maybe it could be that Aidan rubbed Briar the wrong way, and infuriated him. Possibly a temporary enemy?

Aidan was built to infuriate. He's violent, hates school, he's abrasive, flirty, and does not give two farts about magic or those who practice it. Maybe he was super dismissive about something Briar did magically that is actually super hard? Like he raised the dead or something (not actually that) and Aidan was like "parlor trick lmao" and walked off - Edit: he doesn't hate supernatural students or anything. Just people in general and doesn't care for their hobbies or interests |

Oof . One way to get a pissy/angry Briar is to insult his magic. I imagine if they were outside while he demonstrated his power, after hearing that insult. There probably was a really sharp gust of wind that came out of nowhere (from Briar's anger) because when he gets pissy his power level goes haywire and is hard fo control.
