That being said, I am a little tired of working non-stop on that piece so we're changing things up to work on a future YCH that I'm hoping to finish this evening! We will see,,
Here's the process so far! I'd estimate the background has taken about two and a half hours so far, the first three screenshots were taken an hour from one another!

Annd I'm starting to clean up the sketch for the character :D

Edit: Changed the sizes a bit LOL. I should really work on getting consistently sized screenshots for this.

AAAA THANK YOUUU. The secret to water is not avoiding drawing it LOL, over the years I've managed to work out how to do it. It used to look like this
Water is very rarely blue in the vast majority of cases, especially lakes and streams! :0 It kinda looks blue but when you colour pick from the image it's usually like,, brown LMAO. There's exceptions of course but having a good mix of hues in the water on the base layer helps! :D
Highkey though, most of water is just putting highlights at the edges/where it comes into contact with something solid.

I also have a good chunk of references I've gathered over the years, here were some of the images I used as references for that piece! [all taken by me :] ]

You don't know how much I ADORE the camera-focus-like blue that close and far away parts have 👀 your style has evolved into such a colourful and textured blend and it is AMAZING to seeee - you work with shapes and silhouettes so skillfully

And the little details are so satisfying,,, the drool off Kobel, the little whiskers and textured hair and the reflection of the hair in the visor. And the fish of course omg. Absolutely stunning bro 🙏
