Disposition is basically a rating of how often they will listen to you in battle. The worse the rating, the less likely they are to listen to your command whenever you select a target for them. The better the rating, the more likely they will follow your command on whatever target you pick for them.
I feel I'm forgetting something or got something wrong, but hopefully this helped.
