A little bit of lore,

The village that Vye grew up in had a lot of dogs in it. People were very dog-friendly so they usually fed the strays or let them wander through their houses, but a lot of these dogs took a strong liking to Vye. When he was a kid, he would often sleep in his little wool-stuffed bag in a pile with these dogs.
