I just wanted to ask what the purpose of these are?

I keep running into tiles in Explore that tells me that I have found a clover, but they don't turn up in my inventory, so... Are they just for show in Explore to make things more exciting or is there actually a purpose to them? Also, are they a physical thing that are collected somewhere - and if so, where?
