so i kinda just made this up and this is what i had written down lol everything will be (obviously) retyped and more thought out. i'm open to more suggestions and such since it isn't definite.
the largest empire in the world, (name), is known for its annual traditions of holding games to honor and recognize the kingdoms for their loyalty. well, it's that time of year again... but this time, something is different.
the emperor/empress has grown ill, and their oldest child has been informed that they will take over during the time of the games. this causes a slight uproar among the empire's people and the kingdom's confusion as to why not wait until after the games to make such a change. continuing forward regardless, the kingdoms choose their 4 champions - two men and two women who are heavily trained in combat and are seen as heroes.
the games are like a tournament, though twists are thrown in. dogs, lions, tigers, etc may be thrown in that causes the warring teams to have to work together in a way while also fighting each other. there are training days/times for remaining teams. the teams that make it to the end are rewarded (better armor, weapons, clothing, food, more access to water, etc). they are only slightly judged, but it's mostly based off of who kills who and who remains.
the team that either lasts the longest or scores the most will be heavily rewarded and their kingdom will get the best from the empire as time goes on (more resources, you get it).
the story would be very character-driven. i'm thinking there could be talk of some sort of rebellion. those fighting, the emporer/empress + their heir, and commonfolk will all be available to play and maybe some "important" people (kings, queens, etc). again i'm open to pretty much anything and am debating if i want to make this fantasy or not :P
