When you post an image, you're using the image's direct link/URL - this is still hotlinking.
You need to upload any images posted on WolfPlay to a correct image hosting website first.

I see stuff for images, but what are the rules on GIFs? Is there a place where I can post those so that I can use them/sell them?

The rules for GIFs and animations are the same as the rest of the image rules. As long as it follows the other image rules it's all good. Gifs and animations are sold in the same places other artwork is sold, so under the artwork topic and subtopics.

You can upload gifs to the same image hosting websites as you can upload regular images to. If you're running into the problem of your gifs being too large to upload to sites like imgbb and postimg, I'd recommend looking into resizing or optimizing your gifs. There's many tools online that can do this, Ezgif being one of them. https://ezgif.com/

Could you send a screenshot of the issue you're having? Videos need to be uploaded to websites like streamable. As postimg/imgbb are for images, not videos. However, gifs are able to be uploaded to the majority of image hosting websites provided they're not too large of a file size. If the file size is too large, you'll need to optimize the gif, which is explained in my above post.
