Has your school term started yet? You'll definitely have to tell me how it's going for you, and complain to me if you so desire :) I think we have some excellent plot points lined up, and that's not eve to mention the open chaos of whatever the heck is about to happen. The stimuli shall certainly be amusing.

Hey Edling! I'm just making sure you're doing well. Take your time about replying, I just want to make sure you're fine because I was a little worried about you last time. I notice you've been on quite often, though, so it seems nothing really terrible has happened :)

:0 I totally thought I had already posted my reply to this, and the RP thread. Obviously not though, ahah. I am so sorry! Not sure what happened, but I do apologize profusely :( Anyway- I know I wrote something for this; either in my docs or one of my note apps. Crossing my fingers it's still saved somewhere in my disarray of files, and if so, expect my reply to be posted within the hour :) And if not, I'm pretty confident I can rewrite it by memory, it just might take a day or two. And just to answer your previous question; yes, I started my term. I'm already riding the roller coaster of 'I hate college and everything associated with it' and 'this isn't so bad'. There isn't much of an in between if I'm being honest ahah, but I don't have anything particular to rant about (except the 25 page script formatted piece I'm currently writing, but script format is just not my strong suit).

You know, I had an ominous feeling something like that had happened. I probably should have checked in sooner, I was trying to be polite. This is just tragic all around :( I hope you have it saved! Always annoying to have to rewrite a post. Yeah, I'm definitely riding along that roller coaster as well. To be honest, a class where you have to write a script-formatted piece sounds like the kind of class I'd like. I'm sorry you're having a tough time with it, though. What class is that for?

Yeah, it's so tragic I've seriously extensively combed through almost all of my -sorely unorganized- files, and no luck :( I might have to take a peek on the laptop I left at work, ugh. Or, I'm thinking I might as well rewrite it. Will I shed a few tears if it comes to that? Absolutely. But it'll be worth it lol. It's such a wonderful ride, I love adulting :) Honestly, the only issue I have with script writing is that I feel like it chokes my freedom a bit when it comes to writing, especially because I'm far more comfortable with writing in a novel-esque manner. Focusing mostly on just dialogue, body language for 'actors', and such just feels clunky and gross to my muse... I swear I'm not trying to diss on script writing, it's just not quite for me ahah. It's a creative writing course I'm taking, which I love it, but 25 pages of script writing is certainly not the highlight so far.

Ah, this is tragic indeed. Well, I hope you can work through the emotions of losing a post (never an easy feat). Fingers crossed, maybe it's on your work laptop. I can definitely understand why you're struggling with script-writing. It's a very different kind of writing than novel writing, and if you're not into it I can see how frustrating it can be. With what I've seen of your style, and your use of background information and internal dialogue, I can see how writing for stage would be clunky and gross :) I hope the rest of the class is going well for you, at least! I've taken one creative writing class with a really good teacher, and one with a not-so-good, and it really makes a difference.

Yeah, had to rewrite from scratch lol. I ended up changing a few things; versus from what I had in the original, but I don't necessarily hate what I changed for the rewrite. It's something- that's what counts ahah. I seriously procrastinated with it until the day before it was due- wrote 17 of the 25 pages in a day... I'm not sure why I torture myself like so. It's just very unnatural to my style of writing, and it's never been a format I've felt well versed in to begin with- but I managed to crank out an A ;) It's going very well past that- not sure what the next big writing assignment will be yet, but we're getting into the aspects of complex world building and such, the creation of fictional mythologies, and so on. It's pretty neat. I totally agree! The teachers really do make the difference. I like my current professor- maybe not love, but I do appreciate their approach/perspective in terms of teaching.

Ugh, it must have been so frustrating rewriting it. But I guess if you wound up changing some things it was just like super-hardcore editing :) I love how it turned out! I'm very glad you wrote it just the way you did, even if you took the long route. That sounds like a heck of a day. 17 pages in one day and you got an A? That's amazing. If I may ask, what was your script about? It sounds like the class is going to get even better now. World building is such a fascinating subject, and being able to study building fictional mythologies sounds like a dream come true to me. My college doesn't really have any creative writing classes like that. I'm glad you're moving more into subjects you're interested in now.

It was definitely a bit trying if I'm being honest lol. Ah, thanks <3 Means a lot, as always :)) Oh yeah, it was a very long stress-filled day, but it was worth the passing grade. Well, hopefully I can summarize the concept in a manner that makes sense lol- So essentially it centered around the year 1000, when Vikings were beginning to find themselves going ‘extinct” or at least being snuffed out by conquering forces of the English. More so the script was based around the issue of religious persecution between the Norse beliefs/mythology and Catholicism. But it more closely follows the god Loki -freshly banished to walk the Earth for meddling in which Norse gods humans were favoring/worshipping- and his brief time with his demigod son, Einar. It focuses on Einar leading an underground movement of sorts in an English occupied region that had previously belonged to his slain mother; a warrior Queen. He makes this big inspirational speech to other Nordic men and women that were forced to convert their faiths to sustain their and their families survival that inspires them to lead a revolt- though through this whole thing Loki is under the guise of a fellow Norseman seeking revenge on the English, and Einar has essentially taken Loki under his wing. By the end of the prose, it closes with the revolt being depicted as a success other than Einar’s valiant sacrifice fit for an eternity in Valhalla- while Loki had been incapable of saving his son and was afterwards brought back to the land of the gods by Odin. Who essentially was trying to give Loki a better perspective of how fragile the religious system was for their people. Imagine trying to cram all of that lore and sequence of events into a 25-page script… it was one of the most difficult things I have ever done lol. It was originally a short story idea I had that I had planned on expanding quite greatly, but I have yet to revisit that ahah. And yes, what we're getting into now is honestly so amazing, I'm loving every second of it. Honestly hope you get the opportunity to find or take a class with some of the things mine teaches- it's definitely worth it. Maybe you could do some searching for various creative writing workshops? I've participated in a few of those before.

Dang, that is one flippin' impressive plot summary right there. I love how you combined the mythological and historical aspects of the culture. It sounds like some sort of ancient writing. Are you specifically interested in vikings and the Norse, or is this sort of the first time you've written about something like this? From the amount of historical knowledge that went into it, it seems you're at least familiar. It is indeed amazing to have been able to fit all of that into 25 pages. That's also a great excercise for the short story, if you decide to expand ito that instead of the script. Maybe I should search for some creative writing workshops, yeah. My town actually has a pretty good amount, but I feel like most of it is pretty poetry-heavy, and I don't really like poetry. I've only been to one really good writing workshop, it wasn't even in my state.
