Zahra mutters agreement, a blessing indeed. "Hopefully so. Perhaps that is why we woke. If the gods placed the wards, then if they faded, the wards would disappear. And we would wake." She squints at the creature,"That should mean the creature has not been here long."

She hoped they would find somebody. To see no one attempt to even take down the beast or rally people, it was disheartening and depressing. The world seemed way too quiet. If the others were too scared to rally to fight, how could Zahra and Khnurn hope to defeat the beast? Especially if they couldn't get the others to fight. Hopefully there was somebody out there.

Zahra trails behind Khnurn along the sane, deep in thought. The creatures following quietly. Khnurn jars her out of her thoughts with his question. A frown settling upon her face,"I am not sure." Even if she did, she didn't know how to acces them. "I will admit I feel stronger and more energetic under the Moon then the Sun." Her expression turns to worry,"Whatever abilities the gods left us, I hope we can figure out how to use them soon. Surely they are the key to defeating the chaos god and his minions."

No doubt that if Zahra was the Moon and Khnurn was the Sun, they surely had to have some kind of special abilities. To go against the chaos god with nothing but their weapons was suicide. And the two wouldn't have been put to sleep for who knows how many years if they didn't have something special about them.

"An instruction book would have been nice," he grumbled. "We get the Book of the Dead when we die, which goes through how to get to the underworld step by step, but when our world depends on us harnessing powers, we have no manual. At least, nothing readily apparent."

Now he felt like a whiner. He hated whining, yet that seemed to be all he had done since waking up. Pathetic. His lip curled slightly, but he made no effort to combat his unruly thoughts. Was he really going to complain about how he was always complaining? Absolutely not. No, they were going to get to this town and find what they needed, or at least pick up some clues as to where the essential resources would be.

Let's see... Food and water were relatively useless to all of them in the group; Khnurn wasn't sure if they were even capable of processing sustenance, seeing as how they were walking the line between life and death. A physical map would be nice -- the information left by the gods covered general things; it didn't have every tiny town on the map. A magician would be nice, though he suspected that they would have to work a little harder to actually find one. Did they need to sleep? Bedding wasn't essential; he figured the fluffier creatures would be enough if they absolutely needed a rest,

So, really, all they needed to find was a map. And some clues as to where a magician would be hiding. He voiced as much to Zahra: "Most towns would at least have a too-wrist paper, right? Like... a scroll of pictures and places nearby? At least some kind of a map? I don't think we need food or water -- oh!"

One little detail had slipped his mind. One little, relatively important detail.

"What do we do for currency? We have no modern money, and we don't have anything to trade besides weapons; those are kind of necessary, though."

Zahra sighs,"That would have been too easy." She rolls her eyes,"Regardless on if the fate of the world depends on it, there is no way that it would ever be that easy." When was it ever that easy? Boom. Now you know how to use your powers. Go save the world, be a hero. No. It was never that easy.

She sighs to herself. Perhaps it wouldn't be easy, but hopefully at least finding someone else would be easy. She did not want to trek all over the world trying to find someone. The more time they wasted the stronger Apophis got. And the stronger the chaos god, the harder it would be to defeat him and send him back to his cage. And what of the gods? If they had been consumed, was there anyway to bring them back?

Were the gods truly gone? And what would happen without them? Life would continue on... Right? Would Zahra and Khnurn ever get to experience a normal human life? She sighs to herself again as they walk. She looks around, how long would it be until they encountered a town? Perhaps they could ask the beasts for a ride. Even if it made them sore, it would save time. And time was of great importance. They needed to find someone... Anyone. And what of sleep? Would they have to waste time sleeping? Perhaps not. Because the other basic essentials, well, Zahra did not feel like she needed them. She had no urge for food or water. And without food or water, there was no reason to duck into privacy and expel of the processed substances.

"Hmm. Hopefully so. I don't know why they wouldn't have a map. Surely each town would have one for any travelers passing through. Right?" Zahra sighs, it would be a great pain if the town they encountered first had no map. "It is helpful we have no need of food or water. That is the least of our worries right now." Her gaze flickers back in the direction they had just come.

Money. They had no money. Ancient or modern. "Hopefully everyone is too busy worrying about the massive creature on the horizon to care about getting money for their goods." That would be awesome. Besides, with such a threat, why would someone be so intent on getting money? Right?

"That's what I'm thinking. Maps are essential, and I'd think that would be the case even moreso in the desert," Khnurn replied, kicking at the sand in front of him. "And... yes, I hope people are more worried about their lives than their gains. There is always stealing, but I don't think heroes are supposed to be thieves. Maybe someone will be willing to donate a map. Maybe even some more modern clothes; I have the feeling we are going to stand out in these."

Sheath dresses and short kilts were a little out of fashion. Looking back over Egyptian history, fashion trends had shifted basically every ten years. If the rate had continued, there was something new in the wardrobes of the world. Unless they had happened to wake up on the day of a festival, their attire would draw attention if enough people saw it.

"We'll figure something out. If worst comes to worst, then we are capable of fighting our way out, but I doubt that it'll come to that," he decided. "We just need to focus on the map right now. After that, it'll be easier to actually head in the right direction and get what we need."

Zahra nods, her eyes scanning their surroundings. The more they kept talking the more worried Zahra got. How in the hell where they going to do this? Did the gods really expect the two of them to defeat the freaking god of chaos? A giant snake that none of them had been able to? The gods had been devoured, and they expected two immortal humans to do what the powerful deities could not?

She glances at Khnurn, agreeing, some modern clothes would be nice. Regardless if they had to steal it or not. "We can always come back and pay later. No doubt we will find some money along the way. But truly, I do believe everyone's priorities should be on the chaos god for now." They had to do what they had to do. Survival. If the humans wanted the chaos god defeated, they would have to help Zahra and Khnurn.

Although, Khnurn was not wrong. What they were wearing did not fit what clothes were in trend. At least from her memories. Besides, the dress was getting on her nerves a little. So perhaps something that was modern but still worked well for people like them. She did seem to recall that magicians, like themselves, wore linen clothes because linen did not mess with their magic.

Zahra glances at Khnurn, nodding,"Indeed." She glances around again, before glancing between the animals and Khnurn. "Perhaps we should see if the creatures will carry us. It may cause us pain later, but the less time we waste the better. And these creatures can travel so much faster than we can."

He turned to look at the array of animals following them. They really did look like a lost circus: two humans, a sphinx, and a wide variety of canines, felines, equines, and crosses. Zahra's suggestion did not seem to upset any of the creatures, nor did anyone object to being ridden. There seemed to be an air of overall resignation; perhaps being transportation was part of their reason for existence. It made sense that the animals would have to do whatever Khnurn and Zahra told them to, but he didn't want to upset them.

He walked over to a black horse. It looked normal, save it were for the golden flecks and markings across its body and the lion-like tail. Tentatively, Khnurn swung astride the creature and, when it did not attempt to throw him off, gained a little more confidence. "And who are you?"

I am the essence of Astarte, it responded, its voice feminine. Khnurn tilted his head slightly. Essence of the goddess? Maybe each god had created something -- each had given a creature. It was a theory, nothing more, but it made some sense to him. "Do you have a name?"

No. You may call me what you like.

Wow. The gods hadn't given them names? Or at least, not this one. Khnurn couldn't think of anything, so he simply nodded and urged the mare forward. Bending down slightly as he reached Zahra, he said, "Looks like the answer to that is yes, we can ride them."

She did not like requesting such a thing from the creatures. It seemed wrong, however they were in a rush. She was about to take it back as the air seemed to be filled with resignation. The creatures did not look too overly happy about the suggestion and she made no move towards any of the creatures. She did not want to upset them, even if the creatures refused to show their upsetness. Zahra felt like she owed the creatures, they had protected her and Khnurn for years.

Zahra's brown eyes follow Khnurn as he walks over to a black horse with golden flecks and lion-like tail. She tenses slightly as Khnurn swings on board, half expecting the horse to throw him. She listens quietly as the horse and Khnurn converse. It seemed the horse was a mare. An essence of a goddess. And she did not have a name, nor cared what she was called.

Zahra turns to the winged wolf, out of all the creatures, she felt drawn to him. The winged wolf bows allowing Zahra an easier way to climb onto his back. She hesitates for a moment before climbing onto the wolf's back. Fitting in between the wolf's neck and his wings. "Who are you?" She murmurs to the wolf.

I am the essence of Khonsu. Came the rumble of the wolf. That made sense, she supposed. If she truly was the Moon, or at least a representative, then it made sense that she would be drawn to the wolf. A creature of the Moon. I do not have a name either. The wolf rumbles before Zahra could ask. Zahra murmurs,"What about Ta?"

The wolf chuckles slightly, call me what you will, Ta works. Zahra looks up as Khnurn reaches her. "Yes. Hopefully not for long." She looks down at Ta,"Let's go." She glances upward,"Let's hope a town is nearby." Ta looks at the mare then takes off at a run, his wings tucked against his side as he runs.

Khnurn grasped the mare's silky black mane with both hands as she pulled into a gallop to catch up to Zahra and her mount. He squeezed his thighs and brought one hand down to steady the end of his bow, which had begun banging into his hip quite uncomfortably; this, however, felt less stable, and he returned to his original position. He could bear the mild pain -- that was much better than flying off into the sand.

The rest of their guardians followed along behind, keeping a reasonable pace, some opting to fly and others remaining on the ground. The wind whipped through Khnurn's hair and brought it against his eyes as he turned to make sure nobody was being left behind, and he quickly focused forward again as soon as he'd confirmed everyone's presence. The young man gritted his teeth as they sped across the wide expanse; he couldn't tell if he was having phantom pains or if he was actually beginning to ache from clenching everything so hard. How far did their immortality and the lack of their souls go? Could they register pain?

He could feel the chill of the night air, so perhaps they could. Khnurn halted his thoughts as tiny, faint orange specks of light began appearing between two dunes on the horizon. A jolt of adrenaline was met with a loud, "There!"

Oops. He hadn't meant to yell the word. Now he looked like a child, and anyone within the vicinity had certainly heard his exclamation. He grimaced and ducked his head, looking to either side of them with a somewhat wary expression. He grunted an apology and decided to point to the lights instead. "Is that a town there?"

Zahra throws a look over her shoulder to check that Khnurn was following. Which he was, astride the black mare. She shifted around, finally managing to find a decently comfortable spot. Her bow and swords were thumping against her, however she could tolerate the pain. It was not bad, it was more annoying then anything, but she figured she could tune it out.

She could hear the rest of the creatures following, some taking off in the air, and some staying on the ground. Zahra prayed that Ta would remain on the ground. His wings were pressed against his side, but she knew at any moment they could flash out and take to the sky. She would prefer to stay on the ground so she could communicate with Khnurn easily. She'd admit her body was starting to ache, and she understood why Khnurn had originally been so reluctant to ride. Her body would be sore when they were done.

Zahra was pulled out of her thoughts as specks of orange appeared on the horizon. Since it was dark, it was no doubt, light. Electricity. Humans. Hopefully. Her eyes flash sideways at Khnurn's loud proclamation. She grins, civilization!

However, she was worried there was something nearby that had heard. However, Ta did not seemed worried, neither did any of the other creatures and no doubt their senses were stronger then Khnurn and Zahra's. Zahra nods,"I believe so. I hope so." She leans forward, urging Ta faster, and the wolf extends his strides. And then they were moving even quicker over the sand.

He couldn't help but be relieved as the little town grew steadily closer. With every rising and falling stride of the mare's -- he really needed to name her; he couldn't just keep thinking of her as "the mare" -- the lights remained a welcome beacon, even beginning to move with Khnurn's jostling as they edged evermore towards its boundaries. Ahead of them, Zahra had urged the wolf forward and Ta was now a streak of fur kicking up sand. The paces of the animals behind him quickened as well; it seemed everyone was more than eager to reach the city and whatever semblance of normalcy it held.

As Khnurn caught up to Zahra, he panted, "Do you want to stop before the entrance?... Figure out what to do with our guardians?... Maybe send a smaller one out to scout for... less than desirable beings."

Beings that radiated chaos, for example. Even the fairest creature would not be able to hide the malice that had been coming from within the snake god. Surely any spies or minions he had placed would give off the same aura. If anything could find evil, Khnurn was certain that creatures made by the gods could. He and Zahra... well, he was still unsure what exactly they were able to do in the first place. No power had awakened in him, as far as he knew. The desperation to find a magician was growing.

He needed to harness those if he was ever going to have a chance at destroying chaos. At saving the world. At saving Zahra. The pressure was daunting, and the abscence of the gods was only increasing his worry exponentially. There had to be something in that town that could help them. There had to be.
