Yes, but both parents have to have exclusive pelts I believe, or at least 1 of the parents do. It's very similar to crystalline, and very difficult/expensive

I can't remember for sure but I think it's possible when both parents have the same exclusive pelt. It's just extremely rare.

Dev was about to reply, but by then Orsion had already taken off. Internally shrugging - it wasn't that big of a deal, really - he followed Orsion towards the fort.

"Huh." Orsion's remark was pretty much echoed in Dev's head when he looked up at the fort. For one, the pictures definitely undersold it. For two, the books had never actually said why the fort had been abandoned - and looking at it now, Dev found it quite hard to believe indeed that such a big fort would just be... abandoned.

Nevertheless, he followed Orsion up to the base of the fort, footsteps crunching with overgrown grass. Every step forward had his heart falling slighty. They both knew that they'd probably get extra points for if they got something from it - but in this absolute wreckage of a fort, how would they possibly be able to scavenge anything other than some rotting log? Idly wondering if this trip was even worth it - while he knew it would definitely be, he couldn't help but wonder slightly as he looked up at the crumbling walls and shell of a pier.

"So... where should we start?" Dev finally spoke, looking around at the fort that was directly in front of them. Truly, he didn't actually know - it wasn't like every day they went to an abandoned fort and tried to learn something out of it, was it? "Inside, or along the lakeshore?"

Orsion looked up at the walls before shaking his head lightly before he glanced toward Dev as he came up beside him. It was almost astounding how empty it was. But then again, entire cities had been abandoned and long since ruined. A fort, compared to the tides of history, was nothing.

"Psh, might as well go inside. You'll find more cool stuff that way," Orsion let out a short laugh and jumped up, pulling himself over the stone wall with a grunt of effort. The inside held the crumpled remains of old buildings, more stones, and even an old wagon-like cart.

"Dude this is sick," Orsion's voice was calm and quiet. "Did you know that this place is supposedly haunted? Tch, I don't believe in that kinda stuff. It's not real, just ghost stories to scare kids into not doing stupid stuff."

Good thing he wasn't a kid.

He made his way toward the first crumpled building that he had seen, his eyes focused on the grass and dirt beneath his feet. Surely there was something nifty left behind, right?

The old rotting wood creaked slightly as Orsion stepped closer. It had sunk down a bit and he had to crouch to even look inside the remains of what once was a door.

Dev had definitely heard of those stories. But unlike Orsion, who seemed to be going through the wreckage without a care in the world... yeah. He most definitely was a little bit nervous. Hopefully it only came from worry that a wall would cave in on them rather than what the fairy tales had told him about this place being haunted.

Yeah. Definitely.

So he was perfectly content to follow Orsion into the abandoned fort, looking around slightly warily - although he tried to keep it to himself, the fort was rather large, and he did feel a bit small in comparison.

Everywhere he did look, however, his mouth tightened slightly more. Everything there was had either been picked clean by looters or destroyed by the elements - really, it was in such disrepair that in some places buildings looked like two-dimensional squares on the grounde, like a floor plan.

Nonetheless, he just followed Orsion, trying not to look too freaked out by the entire place - Orsion looked like he was having fun, at least from the view that Dev had - and maybe they'd find something worthwhile. Who knew. At the very least, they could hopefully get something out of going to this fort. He didn't want to have to just wander off without anything.

Orsion peered into the small hut-like crumples. The dusty remains were dirty at best and some pieces had been scoured already, some smashed and the likes. Pieces of stuff wouldn't really help but if they could get at least a single whole piece of something... that'd be fantastic.

Ghosts and the likes? Orsion was not a believer in the slightest. He knew better than that and that everything could be explained one way or another. Science existed for a reason, duh.

He moved on to the next little building and this time stepped inside to peer around. There wasn't much, unfortunately. A lot of broken glass which wouldn't do them a lot of good--unless...

The careful shards he pieced around were simply just... glass. They didn't have any fancy markings or whatnot on them. It was just glass.

Orsion stepped out with his hands on his hips, thinking for a long slow minute before he bobbed his head. "Let's go check by the pier. There's got to be something there," he stated firmly.

As he walked toward the direction of the lake, his eyes were focused on the ground. Anything at all. That was all he needed to find.

Something old, something in more or less one piece and, ideally, something that would tell history about the fort in some way.

A button, a cuff link, a shoe buckle, horse bit--anything at all. That was all he really needed. Stuff happened and got left behind all the time. It was inevitable.

So he just needed to find one.

As Orsion kept going on ahead, clambering over the ruins like it was his great adventure, Dev found himself lagging. Honestly, while he could maintain his enthusiasm in studying, going around here felt increasingly pointless as they just saw more dust, more debris, more... nothing of importance. All they needed was one thing - surely the place couldn't have been picked clean by everything?

Orsion was quite far ahead - why he was going so fast, he couldn't tell - when he spotted something that Orsion had missed. Stopping, he bent down, slightly hidden underneath some rotten wood... half a very rusted horseshoe.

Well, at least it was something. Hurrying slightly to catch Orsion, who had gotten even further ahead at that point, he tapped him lightly on his shoulder before showing him the extremely rusted, brown, broken horseshoe.

"I mean... it's something, at least." Dev said first. He looked at it with a slightly cocked head, considering if it was remotely worth keeping to "show off" - not that, really, something that looked the colour of dirt would be much use. But then again, it was better than all the rotten wood planks that they had found so far.

"You think it's worth it or not?" Dev was perceptive enough to know that this... mangle of a horseshoe wasn't in top condition. In fact, far from it. He didn't really mind either way, though.

The young man looked up at the next wall. It was partially crumpled, most of the stones had been moved or were on the beach now. The wall height was up to his waist... which wasn't bad at all. But he glanced back at a tap on his shoulder. "Oh hey--"

He turned around fully to focus on what Dev had in his hands. "Dude that's wicked! It's totally worth it, yeah. I mean, it's going to be a different style than modern horseshoes and we can use that to help identify the time period when the fort was in use! Great work!"

He clapped Dev's shoulder with praise before turning back to the wall at hand.

Orsion leapt over the crumpled wall like it was a mere hurdle. There was no hesitation in the way he jumped up and over, landing on the grass that led into smooth pebbles and then into the water itself. He took in a breath for a moment, listening to the gentle sound of the water lapping at the shore before starting to scour around the beach for something useful to show off.

Anything at all would work. The question was... what could he find?

He led himself further to the water's edge before spotting a small glimmer in the edge of the beach and grass. Oh?

He crouched down and grinned. Perfect!

"Hey look at this!" He stood up, relic in hand.

The brown tin had the tattered remains of a paper around it. The big letters were still readable; Quinle in all caps. The Sulphatis was a bit harder to read and the rest of the label was torn or too dirty to read.

"Dude this is so sick," he stepped back toward Dev. "Look at this little thing," he looked up toward the other student. "We can use these to prove the time period and pass them around for people to read."

Dev pocketed the rusing horsehoe in his back pocket before following Orsion's lead and vaulting over the collapsed wall over him - although slightly less gracefully, before clambering over to the other side to see Orsion already a bit off and holding up a tin can.

"QUINLE". Dev wandered over to where Orsion was near the lakeside to have a closer look at the tin he was holding up like it was some sort of prize. Although, really, it kind of was.

"That'd definitely work too, I guess." Although... whatever was "quinle" was, he had absolutely zero clue. Maybe he could search it up in the library. Or maybe it was something random that he had never heard of and had changed it's name since then. Either way, the half of a horseshoe and the tin had definitely given both of them more motivation after wandering through the fort for quite some time.

"You think there'd be more stuff somewhere around here? I mean, surely we can get more." You'd think after searching for so long, Dev would be ready to throw in the towel. Nope. His little bubble of enthusiasm had been rekindled slightly after finding these two things in quick succession.

Really mean, who wouldn't have? He conveniently forgot that they had been searching for more than a few minutes at that point, which was understandable, and looked around a bit with a bit more enthusiasm.

Orsion glanced back at Dev before he bobbed his head. "If we can compare this to the time period that the fort was in ... business--eh, in use, then it'll give credibility to our presentation."

Orsion's green eyes flicked back toward the sandbar under the grass. "I'll bet we can definitely find some more stuff in there or even over here by the pier... if you don't mind getting wet."

But he focused more on the sandbar, using his hands to dig into the slightly damp sand. Not that he expected to find much more, maybe some bullets--or lead balls--buttons and the likes. The medicine tin was an interesting artifact. Something that definitely would give credibility and excitement to the presentation at hand. It was only a matter of time before they found something else. The horseshoe told them how they got around--and it was almost certainly a different style, make and craftsmanship from horseshoes today. His excitement was bubbling up, rising in his chest as he dug at the sand and the grass, picking out a few rocks. Just rocks.

But that was fine, it was sheer luck that they had found the two before in such little time.

"Finding anything yet?"

Dev had since wandered over to the ruined pier. Barely anything was left apart from a couple of wooden posts sticking out of the lake - really, he honestly doubted that there'd be much here, but he had to hope. Maybe somoene dropped something and it had rolled under the pier, and once the pier was destroyed by time and nature, there'd be something else there.

He didn't find anything under the pier. He did, however, spot something glinting about a meter past the shoreline.

The lake side was rather shallow, and through the water Dev could see... something, slightly buried and under a few centimeters of water, a meter or so out. Something glimmery.

Dev somewhat felt like a magpie as he abandoned his search underneath what used to be the pier as he homed in on it.

"Finding anything yet?" Orsion's words penetrated his brain, and he looked over at him, digging around in the sandbar. In that instant, he looked back towards the glimmery thing below the water, before replying.

"Uh... maybe?" Deverick fell silent for a second, before continuing. "Orsion... you might want to come over here and have a look at this." For the thing that looked almost as if it had been washed up looked like a glimmery pendant sort of thing, half-buried in water and sand. Dev stopped at the waterline and looked at it, interest piqued. It definitely wasn't something that looked like it was from the fort, but it was... here.

Orsion had a rather hefty pile of sand gathering beside him. It was impressive at the very least and the pile of grass, roots and the likes. He stood up and paused as Dev called out that he had found something.

He paced over, dusting his knees off as he walked toward the waterline where his work partner had stopped. He tilted his head, catching the glimmer of something in the water.

"Oh--hey," he said slowly, shaking his head before pulling his shoes and socks off, rolling his pants up and stepping in. A small jolt went through his spine briefly the moment his toes touched the water. That was... way colder than he had initially expected. The cool water pooled around his ankles as he bent over and picked the locket out of the water.

"It's like... a little locket necklace," Orsion relayed, looking over the pendant. "I think it is. It looks like it should open up at least," he shuffled out and shook his head. "Look at how cool this thing is. It's not rusty enough to be too old but it looks very nice. There's like... a laurel engraved into it."

It was a silvery color, reflecting the sunlight gently. "Here, you want it?"
