"Taking sides are we? Tsk, tsk, tsk."

Ruina flashes a grin,"Always. Of course." Thaola and Ruina exchange both a laugh and a grin. Missing the look that Tarron shot at them. Now, Tarron was not one to get emotional, he was in fact the most emotionless one of the group. Or at least the best at keeping his emotions in check. But, every now and again his emotions did flare. The one that flared the most was the protectiveness that he felt for the two girls. Ruina, who was blood, and Thaola who was not. However both were incredibly important to Tarron. And he considered both like little sisters. It was without a doubt that if he had to pick a side in the group, he would choose Ruina and Thaola.

"My sight is in fact perfect better than perfect actually; like me." Thaola sighs,"All the bragging and arrogance will give you a complex, Ikaris. And not a pretty one." Though her voice was attempting to be harsh, the teasing came through and it didn't help that her eyes were always gleaming with amusement and mischief. It was hard to take Thaola seriously, but even the werelioness could get serious. Ruina raises an eyebrow at the werelioness,"A complex? That's the best you got? Oh come on, I've heard better sarcasm on weaker subjects." Thaola sticks her tongue out at Ruina,"I'm just trying to be nice. Figured it'd be to rude to pop his ego." Tarron flashes a small grin,"I don't think you can pop his ego."

Ruina watches Enzo's expression turn to one of skeptical. But she held her ground on it. Perhaps if Amber and Enzo weren't royal children of other kingdoms, she would be more willing to open up. However, there was no need to expose that Truhan was facing a faceless creature. "Your cousin isn't taller than 4" 10 is she? If she's not I know a guy selling little coffins for cheap. Frog green is really popular. . . probably because they're designed to be kiddie caskets." Ruina couldn't help the smile that flickers across her face as Enzo elbows Ikaris. Who protests,"What? It's not my fault parents aren't into sky blue or rose red for there kids anymore. Green is just the trend right now."

Ruina shakes her head,"Al was just as tall as the rest of the family." Thaola cuts in,"So somewhere between 5'8 and six foot. Those damn werewolf genes, makes 'em tall." Ruina rolls her eyes,"Actually, Al was only about 5'7." Thaola frowns,"Hmm, what do you know... Well, I bet she was like a fifth cousin, twice removed." Ruina rolls her eyes again, shaking her head. "What Ikaris meant to say was he offers his condolences, as do I. For your, very real and beloved, cousin." Ruina didn't miss the whole very real part, but in return, she simply flashes a small smile. "Thank you." Tarron inclines his head,"Yes, thank you."

"I suppose I offer condolences as well."

Ruina's grey gaze swings on Amber, her response quick and somewhat snarky. "I suppose I'll offer my thanks then." In her own way, she was kind of mocking Amber. But she couldn't help it, the werefox set herself up for that one. A ghost of a smile flickers across Tarron's face, yet he says nothing, simply inclining his ever ever so slightly.

"Fight! Fight! Fight!"

Thaola sighs,"Not everything has to end in violence, Ikaris." Thaola blinks at Ikaris,"Though, there wouldn't be much violence here. At least on the tiger's part. Ruina could kick her butt, eyes closed." "Come on kitten, show the dog you've got claws!" Tarron raises an eyebrow at that, wondering if Ruina would say anything. Ruina couldn't help but chuckle slightly at Ikaris' disappointment. Before the chuckle fades,"Did I really hear you call me a dog?" Her grey eyes were intent and fixed on Ikaris. Tarron leans forward slightly, interest sparking in his gaze.

"Don't look at me like that. I have enough control over my anger to not get my feathers in a ruffle by birding out."

Ruina grins at that especially as Enzo replies with a not completely convinced,"Uh-huh, if you say so." Ruina's eyes twinkle,"I'm pretty sure you have the emotional range of a teaspoon, birdie." Thaola muses,"I'm pretty sure most, if not all, men have the emotional range of a teaspoon." Ruina inclines her head,"From what experience I have with men. Most definitely." Tarron raises an eyebrow at the two,"Even me?" Ruina grins at her cousin,"Especially you."

Ikaris gave a playful roll of his eyes at the response by Ruina followed by the two girls’ laughter. Girls. He had a pretty hypocritical view of side taking when it came to the girls though, since hands down he would have Enzo’s back before anybody else’s. Ikaris pledged his loyalty to the crown prince though at a young age of ten, even though they had known one another since they were four. Ikaris’ father is the Verlice royal family's go-to when it comes to well crafted weapons. It meant Ikaris had often accompanied his father when he was summoned to the palace at the request of the King for whatever new weapon idea he had in store. The year Ikaris fully accepted Enzo as a friend was when they were nine, and Enzo was prying to find out Ikaris’ birthday so he could give him a gift of some sort. Ikaris played coy, but in all reality he didn’t even know when his birthday was. His parents didn’t believe being born was something worth celebrating. Instead though, Enzo told him ‘happy birthday’ every day for an entire year, while gifting him with one small thing every day as well. That was the dedication that touched Ikaris, and it was on the last day of Enzo’s dedicated year-long journey that they picked it to be Ikaris’ official birthday. It’s what actually made celebrating it with each other special though. Far more special than any ordinary birthday if you were to ask Ikaris.

All that bragging and arrogance will give you a complex, Ikaris. And not a pretty one.” Ikaris didn’t take it offensively, since he could easily spot another person’s mixture of amusement and mischief in their eyes, after all it was a look he wore all too well. “It’s a little too late to not have a complex this far in the game sweetheart.” Ikaris mused to Thaola before he chuckled at Ruina. Honestly, they didn’t even know it but they were stroking his ego. Being the topic of anything automatically makes that ego of his really soar. “I don’t think you can pop his ego,” Tarron accurately commented, and Ikaris gave him a nod of approval before a wink. “Facts.” He simply stated.

“Al was just as tall as the rest of the family.” Ikaris snapped his fingers in defeat at the dead cousin being too tall for the little coffins. Thaola’s additional remark completely confirmed to him that he wouldn’t be getting a sale today for his oddball friend. Ikaris is easily someone who moves around so much that he knows a multitude of people. Right now, that’s just about everyone in Ritha and everyone that attends school with them. He may not have positive relations with them all, but he knows a lot of people who have access to a lot of things. Enzo was almost humored that both Ruina and Thaola were going along with Ikaris’ not so sensitive coffin pitch. It’s usually more common to see Ikaris getting in heated arguments for something he says or does, but at least among friends they were all fairly free to be themselves. After receiving the thanks from both Ruina and Tarron, both Enzo and Ikaris performed an in sync half bow before harmonizing a short, “Of course.” The two boys did chuckle afterwards, but it wasn’t uncommon to see them do or say the same things at the same time every so often.

Amber suppressed an urge to glower at Ruina. “No need to thank me. I offered only condolences, not my sympathies.” Amber retorted with a friendly smile and tone, though her words themselves expressed the opposite. At least in her kingdom, condolences, well it was a word that meant very little. A rehearsed word her mother would call it. It held no meaning, just a few syllables. “Amber,” Enzo sharply scolded, “have you misplaced your manners today or have you been hit one too many times with the bitch stick? Besides, having your sympathy is far more insulting since it’s coming from a person so dense.” Enzo said with a look that was daring her to argue back to him. His eyes held his typical cat-like predatorial fixation on her before she turned red and looked down. “I know ‘sympathies’ was probably the largest word in your vocabulary, but do you think you could say the words ‘I’m sorry’ next?” Enzo spoke while gesturing towards Ruina. As Amber said nothing Enzo gave a small chuckle of ingenuity. “It wasn’t rhetorical Amber, do it.” He ordered this time. Looking back up to Enzo with eyes full of hurt, Amber pushed that pain aside as she glanced towards Ruina. “I’m sorry.” She said in a voice barely loud enough to hear. Enzo isn’t cruel, he just knows how to put people back into their places. If someone can’t handle that quality to him, then they’ve been sitting on the high horse for far too long.

“Not everything needs to end in violence, Ikaris.” Ikaris looked at Thaola like she was crazy. How else could it end in a way that would be entertaining to him? “Though, there wouldn’t be much violence here. At least on the tiger’s part. Ruina could kick her butt, eyes closed.” Ikaris looked at her with an expression that spoke for itself, to which it said ‘exactly, that’s what would make it fun’. Well it was still somewhat early in the day Ikaris observed as his eyes briefly glanced towards the sky for the sun's position, which meant if he wasn’t getting a fight here he was challenging himself to get into one by nightfall. Call it an addiction, but Ikaris genuinely enjoyed the thrill. “Did I really hear you call me a dog?” Ruina asked with her gaze fixated on Ikaris, who stood with a haughty posture. “Would you rather I call you puppy?” Ikaris smirked with a teasing tone.

“I’m pretty sure you have the emotional range of a teaspoon, birdie.” Ikaris’ icier gaze shifted from Enzo to Ruina. It did melt away some at observing the exchange between Ruina and Thaola continue, although Ikaris almost wanted to consider this a challenge. Waiting to insert himself after Ruina’s response to Tarron, Ikaris took the spotlight. “Be careful with assumptions ladies,” Ikaris started with a sly smile, “From what experience I have with women, most. . . if not all, aren’t capable of surviving the gallons of emotion this birdie is capable of drowning them in.” Allowing his own eyes to twinkle with inquisition now, he cocked his head ever so slightly to the side. “Does my bird bath worthy collection of emotion make me the exception to the teaspoon squad?” Ikaris asked playfully. Enzo didn’t quite feel the impulse to defend his emotional capabilities, but he also didn’t think a defensive nature looked good on him. Especially since it was far more humorous to see Ikaris so determined to prove that his ego won’t let him be average in anything. “If we measure men by the teaspoon, do we measure women by the crazy scale?” Enzo added with a slight raise of his brow in the girls’ direction. It’s not like his experience has led him to believe that most women don’t have varying levels of crazy at all times. Even before the official relationship with Amber began, Enzo can’t say he’s found the perfect balance in a female. Some were too clingy, whiny, or just downright awful. A part of Enzo wanted to believe there was a rare breed of females with the ability to actually be genuine partners. Sadly, his faith dwindles by the day. It’s the biggest reason he’s still with Amber. . . because what if he gets worse than her? It’s even sadder for him to think Amber is the best he’ll ever have, but one disappointing day at a time.

At home, Ruina wasn't much of a laughing person. She did love to play jokes and pranks on her family, but she did quite laugh as real and as often as she did hanging around her friends. Or, actually just around Thaola. The two had made fast friends when they were young. Thaola had been one of the few non canine were animals in Truhan. They had werecoyotes, werejackals, werewolves (of course), werefoxes, weredogs, and then a few other kinds of were's. A few cats, a few birds... Then there had been a werelion, just one. And that werelion had been Thaola.

She had fled from her family and was roaming the market. Half beast, half human, unable to control her shift. Young, terrified and alone. Ruina had been with her mother in the market, and she had just barely caught sight of a lion's paw among the busy market. Ruina had insisted that she go investigate despite her mother's protest. So, little Ruina drug her mother over to the alley that she had seen the paw. There they found Thaola, skinny, cold, and dirty. Hearts aching, the werewolves coaxed Thaola out and brought her home. From then Thaola became practically part of the family. Even if she didn't live inside the castle, but rather in a small house among the town.

"It’s a little too late to not have a complex this far in the game sweetheart." Thaola raises an eyebrow,"Is that why you struggle to get women? Because of your complex?" Tarron chuckles as Ikaris simply agrees with him, winking at the werewolf. Tarron shakes his head. Ruina tips her head,"I don't think I'll ever meet anyone with a bigger ego. And I've already met a lot of people." Which was true, as a royal, she traveled a lot with her brother. Or was often there when others came to the castle. So she had definitely had her fair share of people. And all of it simply made her thankful she was not an only child and that she was the youngest.

The two werewolves watch as Enzo and Ikaris take a bow in sync, before chuckling after. It was not uncommon for the two to move in sync. As was same for the werewolves. As one, Tarron and Ruina tip their heads towards Enzo and Ikaris. The two werewolves, however, did not often say the same things at the same time. Much less the same things at different times. They were close, but they didn't exactly think the same way. Tarron was definitely on the darker side. While Ruina, though she could be considered brooding, was much lighter and open than her older cousin. And then, there was Thaola. Who was so sarcastic and mischievous, she was always usually so upbeat and bright.

"No need to thank me. I offered only condolences, not my sympathies."

Ruina muses,"Well, it's a good thing I don't need any sympathies. Hmm?" Her voice too, like Amber's, had stayed friendly. Though no friendly, fake or not, smile touched her lips. And her grey eyes had started to turn just that hint icy. "Amber, have you misplaced your manners today or have you been hit one too many times with the bitch stick? Besides, having your sympathy is far more insulting since it’s coming from a person so dense." Ruina's eyes warm at that, though she did manage to keep from laughing. Thaola, did not, and had to quickly cover the short quick burst of laugh with a sudden coughing fit. Ruina reaches over, patting Thaola on the back,"Don't choke up a lung." Thaola struggles to keep from grinning,"I won't."

Thaola's eyes light up in even more amusement at Ikaris expression. Tarron notes how Ikaris' gaze lit up and muses,"If it's a fight you're after, bird, Ruina, Thaola, and I will be sparring later this afternoon. Probably after lunch." Tarron tilts his head in a vague moment to the rest of the group,"You're all welcome to come. Watch me kick their butt." Ruina's eyes flash,"Oh real, Ta? And who kicked whose butt last time we sparred?" Tarron chuckles,"If I recall, last time you played dirty, and that was the only reason you won." Ruina shrugs,"You gotta do what you gotta do." Tarron sighs,"I don't know where you got that cheating from. We both know not from either one of your parents." Ruina flashes a grin,"Probably an ancestor."

"Would you rather I call you puppy?"

The werewolf's grey gaze flickers sideways, debating her answer. Ruina grins, though she fires back,"Would you prefer I call you bird brain?" Thaola throws a half grin at Ruina,"Bird brain? Is that all you got? I've heard better insults on weaker comebacks." Thaola had twisted Ruina's earlier words and thrown them right back at her. And in response, the werewolf simply laughs,"Touché." Tarron muses, his eyes coming to light with a gleam of teasing,"What about calling him dodohead?" Ruina inclines her head,"Could work." Ruina grins at Ikaris,"If he has the brains to know what a dodo is. After all, they haven't existed in centuries."

"Be careful with assumptions ladies. From what experience I have with women, most. . . if not all, aren’t capable of surviving the gallons of emotion this birdie is capable of drowning them in."

Whereas, Tarron and Ruina wrinkle their noses, Thaola simply laughs in amusement. "Is that a challenge?" Now, only the werelioness could find a challenge in something like that. Ruina shoots a sideways glance at Thaola, to some it could seem like Thaola was trying to flirt... Maybe. "Does my bird bath worthy collection of emotion make me the exception to the teaspoon squad?" Ruina's eyes twinkle with amusement, she had witnessed her fair share of 20 emotions in 30 seconds. "Perhaps." She relents, tipping her head sideways slightly. It could be quite amusing to watch the wereeagle flip out, as none of the Truhan bunch had actually ever met someone who could move through that many emotions in such little time.

"If we measure men by the teaspoon, do we measure women by the crazy scale?"

Tarron was quick to agree,"You bet we do." Ruina's teeth flash in a grin,"Ta, I think your range of emotions is even smaller than a teaspoon." Tarron quickly fires back,"Which means that your number on the crazy scale has skyrocketed. And you're off the scale." Ruina tips her head sideways towards Thaola,"If I'm sky rocketed off the scale, then what does that make Thaola?" Tarron tips his head to think,"Hmm. Crazy..." Ruina raises an eyebrow,"Really? Just crazy." A ghost of a smile flickers across his face,"Let me finish, dear cousin." Ruina inclines her head and Tarron finishes,"Crazy... To infinity and beyond." Thaola laughs,"Oh don't deny it. You know you two love my insanity."

Ruina comments,"You know who I think is insane?" She waits a second before continuing,"Humans. You would think living among wereanimals would freak them out. Nope. They are just as calm as can be." Ruina grins,"I bet if they saw an Anomaly they'd flip smooth out." Thaola sighs,"Yeah, but no one's ever seen an Anomaly. They're in Tecumdosa Forest, which is pretty much impossible to find." Ruina shrugs,"Someone's made it before, clearly, since we know about the forest and the creatures inside." Thaola agrees,"True, but how long ago was that?" Ruina chuckles,"A long, long, long time ago." Tarron offers,"Like at the beginning of time?" Ruina shrugs,"Probably."

“Is that why you struggle to get women? Because of your complex?” Ikaris gave a look of playful hurt before he pulled his posture to allow him to stand at his full height confidently. “There’s no struggle in getting them, it’s keeping them that’s the problem. My complex allows me to adore many, while leaving me to love only the greatest person of all time. Myself.” Ikaris smiled with an arrogant sparkle in his blue hues. It was a half-truth honestly. Ikaris’ narcissism did leave him to adore himself more than a partner, but it’s deeper than just pride. The greater the ego, the more wronged the individual. An ego like Ikaris’ was the impenetrable scar that formed after being broken by the love and trust he placed into the wrong person. Never again, he swore, would he ever be foolish enough to leave himself vulnerable to a female. Ikaris was an affection starved boy, one that endured so much toxic weight from his mother that it broke him. She abandoned her disappointment and left him to the father that always said “it’s your own fault Ikaris, how come you never tried to be better?” A ‘mistake’ he was often called to his face. He learned to give himself the love and praise he had gone his whole life without, slapped a wicked grin on, and decided he was enough. Maybe not to anyone else, but as long as he was enough for himself, then Ikaris will forever be fine. He’s fine.

“I don’t think I’ll ever meet anyone with a bigger ego. And I’ve already met a lot of people.” Ikaris tipped a hand in Ruina’s direction as a token of thanks. “That’s the kindest thing I’ve been told all week.” Ikaris replied playfully before resting that hand on his hip while the other hung idly at his side. “Not true. I said your ego was sickening just yesterday. That’s the kindest thing you’ve heard all week.” Enzo remarked with a flicker of merriment as Ikaris tipped his head back dramatically. “Right, how could I forget such a compliment?” Ikaris replied with a sardonic smile. Thaola’s laughter followed by the coughing fit when it came to Amber’s shunning was a bit infectious to Ikaris, which coaxed a small snicker from him in Amber’s direction. She looked a little humiliated; good. And Amber was feeling a little humiliated, which only added to her sourness. She was only here to be near Enzo these days anyway. The girl had originally been his friend before the group, and when the group formed she still had her crush on the crown prince of Ritha. Soon, her involvement in the group had dwindled to solely only being present for Enzo.

“If it’s a fight you’re after, bird, Ruina, Thaola, and I will be sparring later this afternoon. Probably after lunch.” Ikaris expressed a look of sheer joy before Tarron addressed the rest of the group. “I’m in.” Enzo threw in with his own flare of excitement at the thought of sparring. "If I recall, last time you played dirty, and that was the only reason you won.” Enzo threw a look Ikaris' way while Tarron spoke that little bit to Ruina. She wasn’t the only cheater. Enzo knew from their years of sparring in various arts that Ikaris liked to throw in cheap shots to get a win, but Enzo has done his fair share of the same.

“Would you prefer I call you bird brain?” Ikaris’ smirk failed to fall. “You wouldn’t be the first to use it.” He replied before he chuckled at Thaola’s dish back to Ruina. It was the perfect opportunity to make a good natured dig, so naturally he approved. “What about calling him dodohead?” Tarron spoke, and Ikaris was quick to flick his gaze in the male wolf’s direction. “Could work. If he has the brains to know what a dodo is. After all, they haven’t existed in centuries.” Just as quickly Ikaris fixated his gaze on Ruina while she spoke, and a brief glimmer of defense and vexation crossed his face before it settled on turning neutral. “Just because I’m spacey in school doesn’t mean I don’t know what a damn dodo is.” Ikaris replied in what could have initially been taken as him being heavily insulted, but a very light upturn at his lips expressed he was still being playful.

“Is that a challenge?” Thaola had spoken, and Ikaris expressed amusement through his grin. “For the right girl, it might be.” Ikaris winked after shooting the obviously flirty comment. He can’t say there was much behind it, but it did pique his interest that Thaola responded in that way. It intrigued him needless to say. “Perhaps.” Ikaris gave a satisfied yet smug smirk to Ruina, because in his eyes that still meant he succeeded in being an exception.

You bet we do.” Enzo was quick to smile at Tarron’s response. While enjoying spectating the exchange between the Truhan’s, Enzo’s eyes briefly shifted to Amber as she stared at him with a questioning gaze. ‘What am I on that scale to you?’ she was silently asking with her eyes, and Enzo shook his head lightly with a phantom of a smirk. “The annoying end of the spectrum.” Enzo mouthed to her, and she narrowed her eyes at him before they both looked away from one another. It would be easier if Enzo could incite Amber to hate him enough to break this all off, well. . . easier for her anyway. She’s not going to like the level of theatrics Enzo is willing to take to announce their separation. Objecting and walking out of his own wedding would induce the maximum effect possible for the wereleopard to get his revenge on her, and his parents for agreeing to this arrangement. They would all be so happy before he gets the pleasure of ripping that away from them. The consequences of such a cruelly timed act have crossed Enzo, but he would take those in stride if it meant living on his own terms.

“You know who I think is insane?” Ikaris looked over as if the question was directed at him. Usually it was more along the lines of ‘are you mental?’ when other people were asking him something like that. As Ruina began to speak again though, Ikaris was thankful he didn’t respond prior to her answering her own question. “Someone’s made it before, clearly, since we know about the forest and creatures inside.” Ikaris couldn’t help but wait to offer his own insight. “Who's to say someone didn’t make it all up for some ulterior motive? I’ve spun remarkable tales for my own personal gain.” Ikaris proposed before carrying on. “If there were beings like me at the beginning of time for example, they would have gone to great lengths to construct a make believe place of fantasy to get others to believe in it. In order to support some kind of self gain of course. Like getting people to give them certain gifts or tokens of wealth, and in exchange they would “guide” those people to this magical place, only to push them off a cliff or something. They would then return to civilization and lay a blanket of whimsical lies over the masses by telling them those they had taken on the journey were chosen to live on in the magical land. A smart con artist would choose only the wealthiest individuals to be ‘chosen’ to go on the journey to wring the most money out of them, while still throwing in the rare poverty stricken sap just so no one catches on.” Ikaris finished, though his gaze almost went a little distant as he imagined crafting that perfect scheme. “It’s possible.” Ikaris shrugged as the distance faded.

“Should I be needing to worry about you leading a cult or something, Ikaris? That is scarily elaborate for you.” Enzo smiled at his friend, to which Ikaris placed his hand to his chin as if he were thinking about the idea. “I would make quite the dashing cult leader, wouldn’t I?” Ikaris concluded before chuckling to himself. “I’m just saying, some people aren’t worth underestimating. . . like dodoheads. They’ll catch you in their scheming snare every time.” Ikaris smiled, as if it were a warning to the group to not underestimate him either. Maybe it was a warning. Ikaris was purposely being playfully ominous to leave the meaning of his words up to the individual though.

"There’s no struggle in getting them, it’s keeping them that’s the problem. My complex allows me to adore many, while leaving me to love only the greatest person of all time. Myself."

Ruina rolls her eyes while Tarron simply cocks an eyebrow. And then there was Thaola. The werelioness laughs, shaking her head. "Truly, I don't think I've ever met anymore who loved himself more." Ruina and Tarron exchange an amused glance at Thaola's comment. Thaola then grows quiet, studying Ikaris with a neutral look. A look not often found on her face. She wasn't the best at reading people, especially people who were incredible at hiding their emotions. But after years with Tarron, she grew better. She grew good enough to break the shell on the older, darker, and more brooding werewolf.

It wasn't too hard to see that Ikaris was hurting. Now, Thaola wasn't good enough to know why, but she could tell that he was hurting. After all, they weren't to different. Just like how Ikaris used arrogance to hide, Thaola used sarcasm. Thaola quickly shakes herself out of her thoughts, the mischievous look coming back to life in her green eyes. Neither Tarron nor Ruina missed her brief space-out and both exchange a glance of worry. It was not like the werelioness to space out, even for that short amount of time. Thaola was constantly thinking, and hardly got distracted by her current train of thought.

"That’s the kindest thing I’ve been told all week."

Ruina flashes a grin back in Ikaris direction,"Glad I could be the one to deliver such a compliment then." Tarron shakes his head, they were quite the odd group, but they fit. The Wildcard Group, is what he often liked to call them. A bunch of wereanimals with a personality of a wildcard. "Not true. I said your ego was sickening just yesterday. That’s the kindest thing you’ve heard all week." Ruina raises an eyebrow, a grin playing against her lips. Thaola chuckles especially as Ikaris fires back at Enzo,"Right, how could I forget such a compliment?" The two werewolves exchange a glance, the wereeagle definitely had an ego bigger than Ionoa.

"I’m in."

The excitement that flared through the group was contagious and the Truhan wereanimals were soon just as excited. Often they did a one on one spar, and just every so often they did a three-way spar. The three-way spars were always the most fun, however they were the ones that caused the most damage. Thankfully all three healed incredibly quick, and all three didn't mind scars. Their bodies were already littered with them. Ruina's father didn't approve of much of her antics, especially the sparring. But the werewolf never did listen to her father that much. The king of Truhan use to go into a fit when Ruina would come home with scars littering her body after a spar.

You are a princess! And a princess does not fight! The king would often howl at his daughter. But Ruina never listened, she would escape any of the guards her father ever tried to stick on her, and would continue to spar with Thaola and Tarron outside Thaola's little home. And finally after Ruina had come home with a scar across her lip, her father had given up. Now the two hardly spoke, and when the two did speak, it was about things a royal must worry about. Father and daughter had no bond and never spoke about anything personal. Which was just the way Ruina liked it. She got along fine with her mother and siblings, and that worked enough for her.

"Just because I’m spacey in school doesn’t mean I don’t know what a damn dodo is."

Ruina grins, tipping her head sideways,"Of course.. Just wanted to make sure." Thaola adds,"We're not sure what kind of knowledge is up there in that small bird brain of yours." Both girls had grins on their faces, and the mischievous look in Thaola's eyes had brightened. Tarron sighs, playfully warning,"Watch them, Ikaris. They can be quite dangerous when they're like this. Finishing each other sentences... It's like a hellfire." Thaola throws a grin in Tarron's direction, while Ruina simply shrugs, neither female denying his words.

"For the right girl, it might be." Now Thaola and Ruina picked up on the slight flirtation behind those words, and while Ruina raises an eyebrow, Thaola grins. "And how long will it take you to find the right girl, birdie?" Thaola muses, her head tipping sideways,"Because the way it's going, you'll be through with the whole school by the time we reach our junior year here." Ruina blinks at Thaola, surprise in her eyes, the werewolf didn't realize Thaola had been keeping count.... Or at least an estimate. And Tarron comments on it,"Didn't realize you were keeping count..." Thaola throws a grin sideways,"I wasn't. And I'm not. Just making an estimate."

The youngest werewolf noticed the way Amber turned her head away from the group, and couldn't help but smirk quietly to herself. Amber had been with Enzo before the group had even formed, and nowadays, it seemed she only came around for Enzo. The wereleopard who, clearly, wanted nothing to do with the crazy werefox. Ruina had to admit that Amber did live up to her species. Cunning and tricky. It made Ruina wonder what it would be like to meet the even more cunning and trickier version of the foxes. The Kitsune... Legends the nine-tail foxes were, and yet very few people have ever gotten to see them. But they were real, they lived in on the continent. Among the deepest and darkest forests.

"Who's to say someone didn’t make it all up for some ulterior motive? I’ve spun remarkable tales for my own personal gain." All three Truhan wereanimals turn toward Ikaris, listening as the wereeagle continues.

"If there were beings like me at the beginning of time for example, they would have gone to great lengths to construct a make believe place of fantasy to get others to believe in it. In order to support some kind of self gain of course. Like getting people to give them certain gifts or tokens of wealth, and in exchange they would guide those people to this magical place, only to push them off a cliff or something. They would then return to civilization and lay a blanket of whimsical lies over the masses by telling them those they had taken on the journey were chosen to live on in the magical land. A smart con artist would choose only the wealthiest individuals to be chosen to go on the journey to wring the most money out of them, while still throwing in the rare poverty stricken sap just so no one catches on."

Tarron and Ruina exchange a glance, Thaola commenting,"That is the longest speech I have ever heard from you, Ikaris, that did not involve you ranting over how perfect you were." The words were neither a compliment nor an insult, and for once, there was no emotion in Thaola's voice when she had spoken those words. Ikaris suddenly adds,"It’s possible." Ruina agrees,"Totally possible. But I think the creatures inside Tecumdosa Forest are real. How could they not be? Perhaps not many people have been inside the forest, but many more people have been close to the forest. Dozens of stories talk about a forest, perhaps near the middle of Ionoa, that seems to have a mist of magic around it."

Ruina tips her head,"Some even said that it calls to them, and some said that it seems the forest is pushing them away." Ruina blinks,"You know the legends, only those with the purest of hearts and the truest of intentions may enter these woods." Ruina finishes,"Sounds pretty damn real to me." She glances over at Ikaris and Enzo as the two converse about Ikaris possibly leading a cult. "I’m just saying, some people aren’t worth underestimating... like dodoheads. They’ll catch you in their scheming snare every time."

Suddenly, at the exact same moment, three identical cunning and dangerous smiles flash across the Truhan's faces. Though three different expressions flashed through their eyes. Tarron's eyes flash with cold amusement. Thaola's eyes flash with mischief, as always. And Ruina's gaze simply flashes with a look of ice coldness. Then the looks were gone. Ruina reassures,"I think we're all smart enough to avoid falling into schemes. Even... The dumbest of us." Those last words weren't directed towards anyone, at least not intentionally.

Ikaris allowed a pleased expression to cross him at Thaola’s comment. “I doubt you will ever meet anyone who possesses my level of self-love. It’s a gift, really.” Ikaris replied reservedly with a cheeky grin. The look he observed from Thaola next was one that he reciprocated for only a second. Then, he weaved an expression of indifference as he looked away. Being read was not something Ikaris was used to in the slightest, which was the point of why he wore himself so loud. As if he had nothing to hide. Surely a person so emotionally erratic wouldn’t be capable of hiding much. While Ikaris genuinely has no grip on his emotional fluidity, it does work out as a natural safeguard. So seeing anyone presumably examining him, he couldn’t help but wonder why. Ikaris had rid himself of a resting sad face years ago, so there was nothing to see here in his eyes. The narcissist was able to then brush it off as being mindlessly admired by Thaola. Perfection often had that effect on people he decided.

“Glad I could be the one to deliver such a compliment then.” Ikaris shot a quick wink Ruina’s way as thanks. The sharing of laughter and playful remarks was something Ikaris had certainly appreciated about being in this group. Other than for buzz kill Amber, he didn’t have to worry about necessarily offending anyone and burning bridges here. Enzo was the shoulder he could lean on, Ruina and Thaola were good for exchanging laughs and playful remarks with, and he probably owed Tarron thanks for disengaging those Ikaris does tend to offend. It’s nice to have people to rely on to some degree. If Ikaris had to guess, he would say that’s how a bit of a dysfunctionally happy family would operate. Not everyone was as close as they could be, but they tended to rally around one another.

Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy their share of sparring with others, with the exception of Amber. She did mind scars and marks of imperfection. The shame she would receive from her mother if she were to return home with something disgusting like a scar on her arm, or gods forbid her face, it would be crushing. Spoiled yes, but she is her mother’s golden child. As long as she did what her mother wishes anyway. Turning into the same person her mother is makes the queen proud of her daughter. So while Amber didn’t acknowledge going for the purpose of sparring, by now she was sure everyone knew her intent of even being around anyone. It’s where Enzo would be, so she would tag along. Enzo and Ikaris though were very boyish when it came to earning scars, or as they referred to them, marks of glory. When they went at one another it honestly looked like two mortal enemies facing off with the sole purpose of killing their opponent. It’s out of a brotherly love they’re so fiercely competitive though, which is evident by the way they pick each other up when the game’s settled. . . and after the winner earns bragging rights.

Of course.. Just wanted to make sure.” Ikaris’ eyes narrowed slightly before they turned on Thaola. “We’re not sure what kind of knowledge is up there in that small bird brain of yours.” She added, and Ikaris huffed before muttering, “The kind that would turn heads.” He was no academic scholar, but Ikaris was intelligent in other ways. It’s not his fault school’s boring, and indulging in his street savvy side is far more engaging. “Watch them, Ikaris. They can be quite dangerous when they’re like this. Finishing each other’s sentences… It’s like a hellfire.” Ikaris bit back a small laugh as Enzo shared a small amused one. “Thanks for the tip,” Ikaris smiled Tarron’s way before looking back to the girls, “I’ll be taking that man’s advice ladies, so consider my eagle eyes trained on you two.” Ikaris spoke while giving the universal ‘I’m watching you’ gesture with his hand.

And how long will it take you to find the right girl, birdie? Because the way it’s going, you’ll be through with the whole school by the time we reach our junior year here.” A light chuckle of surprise passed Ikaris’ smirking lips at that. “Pining me in a corner, aren’t you kitten? If you must know, I’m not looking for that girl. I’ll be sticking with my ‘get in, get out’ motto until she finds me.” Ikaris replied with a smirk. Knowing he’s wanted is a necessity, so there was a small desire for him to want to be pursued. For the right reasons though, preferably not pursued in the way Amber stalks Enzo. “Didn’t realize you were keeping count…” Tarron commented, and Ikaris smiled to himself before looking back to Thaola with an arched brow. “I wasn’t. And I’m not. Just making an estimate.” Ikaris allowed his eyes to dart upward as if in thought on whether Thaola’s estimate was good before he looked back down to her. “It’s a pretty accurate estimate,” he spoke while giving her a small clap, “kudos to you kitten for being an outstanding estimator. Your prize for such an achievement is, obviously, being in my radiant presence. What greater honor is there than that?” Ikaris smiled with genuine, shining amusement. “Being rewarded with your silence.” Enzo snarkily replied with a straight face before giving a small smirk to Ikaris. “Would you rather be rewarded with my silence, or hers?” Ikaris grinned while directing his finger at Amber, and Enzo slightly raised one hand to “hide” his other hands finger pointing in Amber’s direction.

“Your commitment issues aren’t as attractive as you think, Ris.” Amber commented rudely, using the childhood nickname she had for Ikaris. “Don’t call me that, you lost that privilege a long time ago you pompous brat.” Ikaris spit with a real anger to his tone as Amber looked on as if Ikaris were nothing. Nothing but a figure standing beside Enzo, who defended his friend. “Pompous brat…” he repeated, “has a nice ring to hit, doesn’t it, Am-burden?” Enzo smiled innocently at her, while purposely enunciating the last part of the insult to her name heavier. Ikaris chuckled with delight as again Amber turned away with a light blush.

“That is the longest speech I have ever heard from you, Ikaris, that did not involve you ranting over how perfect you were.” Ikaris noted the neutrality to Thaola’s words, but he disregarded the lack of emotion. “Sorry, I forgot people look forward to hearing me gloat about myself. I’ll be sure to add an egotistical sentence or two in my next monologue.” Ikaris winked at her in accompaniment with his arrogance.

Totally possible. But I think the creatures inside Tecumdosa forest are real. How could they not be? Perhaps not many people have been inside the forest, but many more people have been close to the forest. Dozens of stories talk about a forest, perhaps near the middle of Ionoa, that seems to have a mist of magic around it. Some even said that it calls to them, and some said that it seems the forest is pushing them away. You know the legends, only those with the purest of hearts and the truest of intentions may enter these woods. Sounds pretty damn real to me.”

Enzo is the one out of the two boys that believed there was a semblance of magical truth to the forest as well.“I’d like to believe it’s possible for there to be a haven for the purest of good in the world to thrive. Untainted by the rest of the world's chaos and hidden malice. It’s wishful thinking, sure, but there’s an unavoidable beauty to its rumored existence.” Enzo thoughtfully offered. “Too bad I’m not pure of heart though, guess I’ll learn to live with the disappointment of never seeing such a place.” He added, and Ikaris joined him. “Likewise, no purity here.” The two boys smile at one another in understanding.

I think we’re all smart enough to avoid falling into schemes. Even… The dumbest of us.” Ikaris glanced between Enzo and Amber before not so quietly whispering to Enzo, “Would that make you dumb for being caught in Amber’s scheme to make you hers? A word of advice buddy, ditch the bitch.” Ikaris smiled while switching his glance to Amber with a bitter smile before looking back at an amused Enzo. “Things fly over your head too easily, bird. Rest assured friend, I’ll pull the thread to unravel the tapestry when it’s time.” Enzo didn’t bother speaking quietly as he turned his eye contact onto Amber. That was his warning to her, and if she really knew him, then Amber would know Enzo always follows through with a threat. Or in this case, it’s a promise.

"I doubt you will ever meet anyone who possesses my level of self-love. It’s a gift, really."

Ruina muses,"Hmm. I wouldn't go that far." Thaola chuckles, though she grows quiet quickly. Her gaze flickering to the sky, a distracted look coming onto her face. Ruina and Tarron exchange a glance. The werelioness was hardly ever quietly, especially whenever they were all hanging out with the group. Now at home, Thaola would occasionally look into the distance and grow distant. Though when shook back to the present, Thaola would flash a grin and assure everything was fine. But both werewolves knew that Thaola was thinking about her parents, and what had happened to them.

"Thaola?"

The werelioness quickly snaps to attention,"Sorry! Just... Got distracted." Ruina frowns at her friend, and in response Thaola retorts playfully,"Frowning causes wrinkles, wolf." Ruina chuckles,"And staring at the sun causes blindness, lion." The two laugh, playfully shoving each other. Tarron regards the two affectionately. The two, although open and playful around each other, had been incredibly quiet and reserved when they first came. It was only because of Tarron's constant pestering that had caused the two to come join the little group. And the two had fitted in nicely and quickly became more open. Quickly proving their personalities just as wild and unpredictable as the rest of the group.

"Pining me in a corner, aren’t you kitten? If you must know, I’m not looking for that girl. I’ll be sticking with my get in, get out motto until she finds me." Thaola half grins, raising an eyebrow,"Ah, twisting the typical fairytale are you?" Her head tips sideways slightly,"Making the girl chase you, instead of you chasing a girl." Ruina shrugs,"Does that surprise you? I don't think any of us would fit a typical fairytale." Ruina was quick to bite off her next words, simply closing her mouth. It seemed Amber would fit the natural fairytale. Hopelessly in love with a prince who did not love her back. What a cliche...

"Kudos to you kitten for being an outstanding estimator. Your prize for such an achievement is, obviously, being in my radiant presence. What greater honor is there than that?"

Thaola pretends to think of a response, and during that silence, Enzo was quick to throw out a snarky reply. Ruina laughs at that, her eyes sparkling with amusement. If their group was good at anything, it was throwing incredible insults around. Thaola sighs, shaking her head,"Enzo took the words right of my mouth." She lifts her shoulders in a shrug,"Can't think of anything better then blessed silence." And as per usual, Ikaris took no offense to it, simply firing back at Enzo,"Would you rather be rewarded with my silence, or hers?" The Truhan's eyes flicker towards Amber at that words. Small smirks flashing across their faces.

"Your commitment issues aren’t as attractive as you think, Ris."

Ikaris was quick to throw a retort back, which wasn't unusual. But what was unusual was there was no hint of playfulness in his tone. Simple anger, which an expression that was apparently used for Amber quite often. Even Enzo agreed with Ikaris,"Pompous brat... has a nice ring to hit, doesn’t it, Am-burden?" Amusement flickers through the Truhan's especially as the werefox's face turns red with embarrassment. And perhaps the group was taking it to far, insulting Amber. But she did deserve it most of the time. The only one who perhaps had never said a cruel word to Amber was Tarron, and that was just because Tarron never spoke to Amber. He never had the need to and he never desired to do so.

"Sorry, I forgot people look forward to hearing me gloat about myself. I’ll be sure to add an egotistical sentence or two in my next monologue." Thaola lets out an annoyed sigh, though she contradicts it by winking back at the wereeagle. Her green eyes just as mischievous as always. Ruina shakes her head,"I think Thaola may be the only one who can put up with Ikaris' arrogance completely. Even I get annoyed with it, and I have to deal with Tarron and my father." Tarron teases,"Oh, because you talk to your father so much?" Ruina shrugs,"He is still a very self centered man." Tarron chuckles,"Fair point."

"I’d like to believe it’s possible for there to be a haven for the purest of good in the world to thrive. Untainted by the rest of the world's chaos and hidden malice. It’s wishful thinking, sure, but there’s an unavoidable beauty to its rumored existence.... Too bad I’m not pure of heart though, guess I’ll learn to live with the disappointment of never seeing such a place."

Ruina turns her grey gaze on Enzo, a smile resting on her face. "Yeah, helps balance out the rest of the bullshit of the world, huh?" Ruina wasn't much for day-dreaming or wishing on stars. She knew that if she wanted something done, she'd have to get it done herself. But there was never any harm of believing in things like Tecumdosa Forest and the mythical beasts within. The idea of such a safe haven helped Ruina believe that perhaps the world wasn't so bad after all... Well, to a certain extent. For now the kingdoms were at peace... But in a world like theirs? How long would the peace last?

"Would that make you dumb for being caught in Amber’s scheme to make you hers? A word of advice buddy, ditch the bitch." Ruina jerks herself out of her thoughts at those words, surprise flashes through her eyes at those words, quickly followed by amusement. Trouble in paradise? Well, there would be if the relationship was paradise. There had never been any doubt in any of the Truhan's minds that the relationship between Enzo and Amber was completely one sided. And that Amber was incredibly stalk-ish of Enzo. "Things fly over your head too easily, bird. Rest assured friend, I’ll pull the thread to unravel the tapestry when it’s time."

Tarron was quick to step in before anyone else could say anything about the matter. The werewolf rising to his feet as he shoots a glance towards the sun,"Alright, alright. Enough squabbling, it's time for lunch." Thaola bounds to her feet, excitement flashing through her eyes,"I wonder what they'll serve today?" Ruina was slower, and a bit more graceful than Thaola, as she rises to her feet. "Who knows. They like to mix it up." Every so often, the school would release live prey for the predatory wereanimals to chase after and hunt down. It was a bit cruel for the prey, but it did throw in a mix for the wereanimals and some even enjoyed the rush of wind and the adrenaline of the hunt.

Tarron and Ruina did. Thaola? Not so much. She participated in the hunt, but she didn't crave it. Tarron glances at the group,"Come on." Then the werewolf starts off, Thaola and Ruina falling in beside him. Thaola on the left and Ruina on the right. Headed towards the large circular building that was the school's cafeteria. Thaola muses,"I wonder if they'll make that meatloaf again. It wasn't too bad last time. There was something in the spice that just made it incredible!" Ruina agrees,"They hired that new cook and he does great! Do you remember that steak we had the other night for dinner? It wasn't half bad."

“Hmm. I wouldn’t go that far.”

Ikaris only flicked a quiet but still haughty look Ruina’s way that said ‘agree to disagree’. From there the wereeagle’s eyes moved to the origin of the chuckle; Thaola. Instinctively he glanced up wondering if there was something worth looking at in the sky, and seeing nothing, he looked back to Thaola. That’s when he clicked into the distance in her usually lively eyes. If he hadn’t walked his own troubled path it was a look he wouldn’t have been able to place, but he did know that look. Ikaris assumed those that walked similar paths to him possessed those deeply embedded sorrows shrouded by a mask of smiling security to keep them safe, the way he did. To spare others from worrying perhaps. It gave some semblance of wholeness compared to the fractured individual hidden beneath the surface. Or at least this was all Ikaris’ truth. He was quick to turn away though as Thaola was pulled away from her distant look. It’s not like he could risk being caught understanding! Heavens no, he had an egomaniac reputation to protect after all.

Ah, twisting the typical fairytale are you? Making the girl chase you, instead of you chasing the girl.” Ikaris smirked, and Ruina responded with words he couldn’t agree more with. “Does that surprise you? I don’t think any of us would fit a typical fairytale.” Ikaris nodded in agreement. “Exactly,” he said to Ruina before smiling back to Thaola, “where’s the fun in being conventional anyway? Trick question… there is none!” Ikaris finished with a tone of dramatic passion. “Parents use fairytales to put kids to sleep with. I’d rather not be living a snooze of a life.” Enzo chimed in with a simple lace of sureness to his voice.

To an outsider looking in, it probably looked as if Amber was being attacked currently. She really did deserve this all though. The fox really was just as cunning as the rest of her species. Amber certainly didn’t think she deserved any shade being thrown her way. She was just madly in love, where was the harm? The harm being all of the ways she’s used love as an excuse to ruin lives. There were no secrets between her, Enzo, and Ikaris for the most part as children, they were their own three musketeers if you will. Skip a few years and Amber grew desperate to have nothing in her way when it came to being with Enzo. Naturally, the biggest obstacle then was Ikaris. Amber took the time to plot a horrid action against the boy by using the weaknesses she knew he had from when they were younger, sprinkling a little bit of information she swore to never share, and she let bigger bullies do the rest. After that day… that day Ikaris still has nightmares about… he knew only two people had the information that had been given to his aggressors. Enzo would have never broken that oath to not spill secrets, so Ikaris knew Amber was behind it. Ikaris’ revenge was swearing to make sure she never got the one thing she wanted; Enzo. And so the personal feud began. Neither Ikaris or Amber ever let Enzo in on what she had done, but Ikaris’ rage for the werefox didn’t spring up out of nowhere. She was just another female he trusted, and shouldn’t have. Not to mention the havoc she’s wreaking on Enzo. See? Life ruiner.

I think Thaola may be the only one who can put up with Ikaris’ arrogance completely. Even I get annoyed with it, and I have to deal with Tarron and my father.” Ikaris gasped dramatically as Tarron began his tease to Ruina. “Annoyance is just misplaced affection.” Ikaris spoke up on his own annoying behalf. As if he could just stand back and have his arrogance compared to that of Tarron and a king. Ikaris could outshine royalty any day, just try him. Ikaris’ lack of regard for respecting anyone “above” him is one of the reasons Enzo tends to keep Ikaris on an invisible leash though. It’s for the cuckoo birds’ own good.

“Yeah, helps balance out the rest of the bullshit of the world, huh?”

Enzo gave a slower nod of agreement. “It does. A little goes a long way, and from what I hear a little bit of hope and diligence placed into the right thing in itself can make magic happen.” Enzo replied in a more serene manner. It’s not often Enzo allows his more thoughtful side to slip, but in the presence of a seemingly like minded individual, he saw no need to not share that sliver of insight. “Diligence? Sounds like something I would be allergic to.” Ikaris commented under his breath, and Enzo only smiled a little to himself at it.

“Alright, alright. Enough squabbling, it’s time for lunch.”

Both Enzo and Ikaris turned their eyes to the sun to conclude the time for themselves. “It’s the perfect day for a nap.” Enzo spoke longingly. “You’re always ready for a nap grandpa.” Ikaris mouthed back with a smirk before the two looked to the excited Thaola. “I wonder what they’ll serve today?” Ikaris matched Thaola’s energy, but put a sinister spin to it for a laugh. “The worms who have feasted on the bodies of our enemies. Throw in some maggot pudding, and you’ve got quite the meal.” Ikaris chuckled as Enzo gave him a judgmental look, “Interesting combination.” He commented. “Who knows. They like to mix it up.” Enzo always looked forward to a menu change. He could be a little picky, courtesy to his upbringing, but he was far from spoiled.

Come on.” Once Tarron gave the word, the two boys moved in sync at each other’s sides forward, with Amber only taking a second to place herself at Enzo’s side. “I will not tolerate being so rudely disrespected in front of an audience Enzo,” Amber lowly hissed, “it’s one thing when we’re behind closed doors, but if the wrong set of ears hear you dishing insults like the child you are, it will cost us both. The last thing I need spreading around my kingdom is that our arrangement is to seal a coveted feud between our royal families, so watch your tongue.” Amber quietly scolded Enzo as they walked behind the Truhan’s. “Our arrangement is worse than trying to hide a feud. It’s a conniving tactic to get your way, Amber. If you loved me you would end this, you would spare me from this. Every breath I take under your suffocating claim is killing me, Amber. Let. Me. Go.” Enzo replied just as quietly trying to keep this conversation between them… and the silent Ikaris. “We’ll talk about this later.” Amber stated firmly as they made it into the building full of other beings. “No, we’ll fight about this later. We’ll tear each other apart until one of us gets so hurt we walk away tortured by the words we said and received. You know how this ends Amber, please don’t pretend otherwise.” Enzo said in a lower voice, his tone evident of pain and even slight pleading as he looked down at her. Their eyes locked in an equally sorrowful gaze before Enzo looked up and took her hand in his. It wasn’t just trouble in paradise, this was a war of hearts. And neither of their hearts were making it out of this war alive and fully intact.

“Well look at that! Bacon wrapped steak bites, they’re getting snazzy.” Ikaris observed and commented to try and give his friend a sense of levity to focus on, and Enzo gave a smile that hardly reached his amber eyes… which he always found ironic. “I suppose they are. It’s better than those cheese popper things they had a few weeks ago, I would eat dirt over that any day.” Enzo commented with an ingenuine chuckle, as if trying to convince himself what he said was chuckle worthy. “Rude, I thought they were fine.” Ikaris replied before bee lining to get his own share of food. Amber led Enzo with their hands still conjoined to the salad bar with a smile, while Enzo just looked desperate to run. He had sympathy for those prey animals they released for the predators to gruesomely catch, since he felt no different. He couldn’t live like this, or it really would kill him. So Enzo, like he had said to Ruina, was putting hope and diligence into the perfect way out.

"Exactly, where’s the fun in being conventional anyway? Trick question… there is none."

Ruina chuckles,"Alright, bird, I'll give you that." Her gaze flickers sideways as Enzo chimes in,"Parents use fairytales to put kids to sleep with. I’d rather not be living a snooze of a life." Ruina reminds,"Some fairytales can be used to terrify children." Thaola's eyes light up,"True! Remember the fairytale that your mother use to tell us about the Kobold?" At once, both werewolves bristle. Ruina bares her teeth and snarls, neither Ruina nor Tarron ever liked the story of the Kobold... It was too freaky... Too much... To think such a creature could exist.

Ruina studies Ikaris, Enzo, and Amber, noting the hostility in the air. When the group had really first formed, none of the Truhan's had been aware of the hostility until after the first few days when everyone had started to become more comfortable with each other. And yet none of the Truhan's had pushed the issue, they had no idea why there was such a hostility between Ikaris and Amber. They understood more of the reason between the hostility between Amber and Enzo, but none had asked about the wereeagle and werefox.

And quickly as Ruina, Tarron, and Thaola had gotten to see Amber's rudeness, they had become more like Ikaris and Enzo towards her. Cold and rude. Thaola only acted more sarcastic and harsh towards the werefox, while Tarron simply did not speak to her. How Ruina treated her often changed, occasionally she attempted to be at least neutral. But if Amber was rude first, then Ruina would quickly be rude back. And if the werewolf was in a pissed off mood, Ruina was just straight cold and merciless.

"Annoyance is just misplaced affection."

Ruina mutters,"Misplaced affection that pisses people off." Thaola chuckles,"It pisses some people off." Ruina grins,"It pisses everyone off, some people just hide it better." Tarron adds,"And you are not one of those people." Ruina frowns,"What do you mean? I am great at hiding my feelings." Tarron inclines his head,"Around certain people, you are not. And we--" Tarron indicates the group,"--Are that certain people." Ruina shrugs,"I hide them better than you think." Tarron chuckles,"Yes, I will give you that. But still..." Ruina shrugs,"Emotions make us human, cousin. Elsewise we'd be just as savage as our animal counterparts... And last I checked we're only part animal... So.."

"It does. A little goes a long way, and from what I hear a little bit of hope and diligence placed into the right thing in itself can make magic happen."

Ruina's grey gaze studies Enzo for a second, her gaze giving nothing away. Finally she smiles, nodding her head,"Yeah, it really does." Ruina, when she was younger, use to dream of being swept away by a handsome prince(cliche, right?) and would often dance in the empty ballroom alone, at night. Pretending to be dancing in the arms of that fair prince, imagining the music she was listening to.. And then she grew up... A part of her still hopes for a happily ever after when it comes to romance. But... the werewolf didn't have too much hope left. Her dreaming days had definitely ceased or at least slowed.

"The worms who have feasted on the bodies of our enemies. Throw in some maggot pudding, and you’ve got quite the meal."

Ruina and Thaola both shot an identical look of amusement and curious glance over their shoulder at the wereeagle. Tarron comments,"I was unaware that we had enemies at the moment." His voice was teasing especially as he adds,"So, have you murdered somebody recently, Ikaris?" Thaola and Ruina exchange a grin at that... Killing was a natural thing for predators especially, so the two weren't freaked out... But they didn't condone random murderings. Not without fair reason and plausible cause. Which would be self defense or... maybe war. War with a good intention behind it. Like fighting a kingdom to get rid of a tyrant king.

As the three move toward the cafeteria, the other three fell into step behind them in the same sort of wing formation. And despite Amber's lowered voice, all of the Truhan's enhanced senses caught almost every word. And what they missed, they pieced together. "Our arrangement is worse than trying to hide a feud. It’s a conniving tactic to get your way, Amber. If you loved me you would end this, you would spare me from this. Every breath I take under your suffocating claim is killing me, Amber. Let. Me. Go." All three Truhan's pretend to not hear the conversation after that. Ruina started rambling about last time the school did a live hunt for lunch. While Tarron and Thaola nod, popping in words occasionally.

"Well look at that! Bacon wrapped steak bites, they’re getting snazzy." Ruina and Tarron exchange a grin, they loved bacon and steak! Combined? Even better. The two were quick to move and gather their plate, full of food, though all three avoided the vegetables that were offered. The three were carnivores and their human side was more attuned to the meals of a animal, so the proteins inside vegetables weren't really needed for the three. Snagging water as well, the three make their way over to a round table. Tarron took a seat, Thaola on one side and Ruina on the other. Digging in almost at once.

Ruina flashes her teeth in a half grin,"These are great. Honestly, they need to hire more cooks like this." Ruina started at the food, she wasn't exactly eating all delicate like a princess, but she damn sure wasn't eating like a slob. Somewhere in between... And she wasn't slinging food or food juices(or particles) anywhere. Her teeth almost seemed sharper in her mouth while she was eating. Thaola and Tarron were eating almost as fast. Though Tarron slows to tease his cousin,"Slow down, Rui, we've still got to spar. Can't have you using a upset stomach as an excuse when you get your butt kicked."

Ruina looks up at Tarron, wiping off the tiny bit of meat juice she had on her face, her sharp teeth flashing in a half snarl. Though amusement flickers in her gaze,"I can beat your butt, full or not. Upset stomach or not. No need to worry, cousin." Tarron chuckles, shaking his head as both go back to eating. None had gotten that many. They had gotten just enough to fill their stomachs and satisfy them without giving them a hurt stomach from over-eating. Ruina finishes, and although she knew there wasn't any visible food particles or juice on her face, she still wipes her face with a napkin. Before taking a good, refreshing, drink of water. Thaola grins as Tarron finishes seconds after,"You two werewolves... I've never met anyone who loves bacon or steak as much as you two."

Tarron and Ruina shrug, smiles flashing across their faces,"What? They're good." Thaola finishes up,"I know. I'm just saying." Tarron chuckles,"Your father would kill us if he saw us eat like that." Ruina's next smile was more of a snarl,"My father can kiss my butt. I can eat a whole lot sloppier." Tarron chuckles, glancing at the other three,"You three about done?" Since they wanted to watch the spar, Tarron, Ruina, and Thaola were simply waiting for them to finish up so they could head over to the gym. Which was open pretty much all hours of the day and night. For anyone who wished to use it. Tarron, Ruina, and Thaola could often be found there for both fun and their class, Combat in Action. Or as it was better known as around campus, CIA.

“Some fairytales can be used to terrify children.”

Enzo’s lips upturned in a half-smile before he commented more for himself. “Yeah, like the stories about true love.” Maybe when he was younger, and far more naive, he could have romanticized about the typical story book endings of the prince finding “the one”. Looking back that’s how his father generally used to look at his mother; like she was the most precious thing he had the honor to gaze upon. They smiled, laughed, and danced in each other’s arms, and Enzo thought it was what true love looked like in the flesh. Somewhere along the way though, perhaps they fell out of that love, or maybe love runs out. Enzo wasn’t so sure he wanted to have something so uplifting just dwindle away over time. “True! Remember the fairytale your mother use to tell us about the Kobold?” Enzo was not exempt from reacting to that thing's name. In fact, if he had been in his shifted form he would’ve lightly hissed. He’s only ever heard the tales of the Kobold, but the name alone was just threatening to his existence. “That is not a fairytale, that is a horror story.” Enzo corrected, since that would not be among his definition of fairytales. Hell no, nothing magical about it.

“Misplaced affection that pisses people off.” Ikaris scoffed and was ready to throw a retort, but Thaola generally said what he would have defended his former statement with. “It pisses everyone off, some people just hide it better.” Now Ikaris’ brow had arched some in Ruina’s direction before he glanced at Tarron, to which Ikaris dropped his brow and just decided to ignore the conversation. What? He’s entitled to zoning in and out mindfully. “Emotions make us human, cousin. Elsewise we’d be just as savage as our animal counterparts… And last I checked we’re only part animal… So…” Ikaris couldn’t help but at least listen to that little bit, which he greatly disagreed with. “If they’re so savage, why would certain species mate for life, only to be capable of dying of a broken heart at the loss of their partner? That tells me they feel something.” Ikaris responded on behalf of the animal kingdom. He’s not wrong though! Perhaps they couldn’t feel on the same level he or any other human type thing could, but they felt something. If Ikaris had to spend day in and day out struggling to brave the elements, find food, shelter, and all that fun stuff, it’d probably make him a little savage too in the animal’s defense. As if one couldn’t tell, Ikaris is a bit passionate about defending things that can’t stand up for themselves… which says a lot more about him than one may think.

Yeah, it really does.” Enzo shared a small nod with just as small of a smile with Ruina at her response. There was no sense of intimidation or unease in the slightest Enzo ever felt anyone chose to study him neutrally, because he didn’t care. It’s one of the things that made him so charismatic, but there were a lot of things that just didn’t bother him because he wouldn’t give anything that kind of power over him. He’s in control, not the other way around.

I was unaware that we had enemies at the moment. So, have you murdered somebody recently, Ikaris?”

Ikaris was quick to give a noise expressing contrary. “Maybe we don’t have enemies, but I sure as hell do wolfy. Two words; chicken conspiracy. Everyone thinks those small brained cluckers are so dumb, but they’re not. Quite the opposite! They’re evil geniuses and they know I’m onto them. Call it a bird’s intuition… but they are just pure evil. In response, I eat cooked chicken in front of them to show that I am in fact not afraid of the impending chicken war. I haven’t killed one, but you can bet I’ll eat the ones served on a platter.” Ikaris more than likely sounded like a mad man ranting about the end of days, but he was very serious about this. Very serious. So much so that he’s convinced there’s a supreme chicken overlord that telepathically communicates to every chicken alive in order to give them orders. If he can find the supreme chicken, Ikaris can end the war before it even begins. Okay, maybe he is a little crazy.

Within the cafeteria, Ikaris was off picking through everything that he found suitable to meet his needs. Which is a heavy carnivore diet, so steak bites equal yum! Ikaris also enjoys seasoned bone marrow bits, since the eagle in him typically gets all its nutrients from eating the entirety of its prey, but in this form he didn’t need to consume every part of an animal to be satisfied. Meanwhile, Enzo found release from Amber’s grasp to get his own small portion of the bacon wrapped steak bites, and a small serving of water, and that was it for the wereleopard. It’s actually not uncommon to see him not eating heavy at designated meal times. He prefers to eat lightly throughout the day, so if he gets hungry later in the day before dinner, he has stashed jerky to snack on. As for Amber, she is (as if it wasn’t obvious) fake. She didn’t need to eat things like the light salad and dressing she put over it, but she did to make herself feel a little more delicate. She did grab some of the steak bites too, but just to rip them up into her salad.

Ikaris and Enzo gravitated back to each other before sitting at the table with the Truhan’s, with Amber following only a moment after to sit beside Enzo. It was actually a bit amusing for Enzo to watch the werewolves eat, compared to Enzo’s more paced bites. Ikaris was practically swallowing anything he put into his mouth whole, which for the bird isn’t uncommon either. The only thing currently annoying the crown prince was how delicately Amber was eating, as if too much food in her at one time would literally kill her. “Slow down, Rui, we’ve still got to spar. Can’t have you using a upset stomach as an excuse when you get your butt kicked.” Enzo chuckled quietly before continuing to eat while silently spectating the conversation.“What flavor?” Enzo asked Ikaris as he gestured to the wereeagle’s bone marrow sides. “Lemon pepper, you want some?” Ikaris asked, and after Enzo nodded, the eagle not-so-politely leaned past Amber so Enzo could scrape a little onto his plate, and in exchange Ikaris took the steak bites he knew Enzo wouldn’t finish. The boys usually picked off and swapped things that were on each other’s plates, so this isn’t unusual. “You two werewolves… I’ve never met anyone who loves bacon or steak as much as you two do.” Enzo nodded, “Agreed.” He commented, but more in a playful way.

“You three about done?” Enzo had already finished a moment before the question, while Ikaris tipped his head up a little to swallow the last of his own meal… and then there was Amber, a little over halfway done. “Yep.” The boys said in unison, already getting up together. Ikaris held his hand out above Amber as Enzo passed his plate over for Ikaris to take. “Wait, can you take mine?” Amber asked as she looked up to Ikaris, who ignored her and walked away. With a low growl she stood up and walked her own plate over to scrape off what was left in the compost bucket before placing it with the other dirtied plates. “Last one there is the loser of the group!” Ikaris’ yell rang out through the cafeteria before the wereeagle took off running. “Damn it, bird.” Enzo muttered before picking up a run to keep on Ikaris’ heels. Competitive friends at its best; which was unfortunate for the people caught in the way of their competition. Amber already knew she wasn’t going out of her way to keep up, so she took her time walking to the gym. She was already the most despised of the group, so there wasn’t much of a point in trying to not come in last.

Ikaris didn’t care if he lost to anyone else, just as long as he didn’t lose to Enzo. Which he didn’t! “Ha! Don’t throw a hissy fit now kitty cat. Accept being a graceful loser.” Ikaris teased as Enzo playfully shoved him. “Cheater. You were already at the exit, so you had the head start.” Ikaris played dumb to that before the boys chuckled. Neither were even close to a pant either, since they both possessed a near equal level of stamina, and it wasn’t too long of a run either. Fun is fun though, and at least they could always find it.
