Aurasky, Chapter 2
“Aura, we have to leave Pyrite Mountain,” Willowstep said. “It’s not safe any more.”
“We can’t leave!” Aurasky gasped. “All my friends are here!”
“Your cousins and my sister live in the village Harmony, near the Deep Forest,” Winterhaze told her gently. “We’ll live with them.”
Aurasky nodded, shakily getting to her talons. She went to her room and packed her bags.
“Let’s go,” Willowstep murmured.
The three dragons walked to the balcony. Aurasky spread her wings and took off.

Aurasky, Winterhaze, and Willowstep flew over the mountains and landed carefully in the Deep Forest. The woods were too dense to fly in, so they had to walk.
Aurasky got the feeling that she was being watched. It was normal in Harmony, to be followed—everyone was curious about newcomers—but of course she didn’t know that.
Suddenly, Willowstep let out a yelp, and a dragonet tackled her to the ground.
“Aunt Willow!” the dragonet exclaimed. She was a bit younger than Aurasky. She had pale yellow scales and pink spikes down her back. When she glanced at Aurasky, her amber eyes were huge.
“Are you Aura?” she asked, her eyes seeming to get even wider.
“Um.” Aurasky was nervous. “Yeah,” she managed to whisper.
A smaller dragonet crashed into Aurasky.
“Wow,” he whispered. He had darker, golden scales, and cobalt blue eyes.
“Hi,” the first dragonet said. “I’m Lonia, and he’s Pine.”
“Where is Myrtle?” Willowstep asked, recovering.
Lonia glanced at Pine. Pine shrugged.
“Well,” Lonia said, “it’s a long story…”
