Cutting Edge said: Hi! I was wondering if I could get some anatomy/fur texture/shading advice on this piece? https://s33.postimg.cc/dtkziq4bj/D22_F10_BD-_A2_EB-4_B00-_AC7_A-1927_FE7_A71_BD.pngShe has metallic fur, so I tried to capture that (and failed... xD) Thanks so much!
Not all that bad! Looks really nice! Quick critique:
Anatomy- Lets start with the head. It looks really good, however, the snout needs some help. There is quite a dent between the forehead and the snout, that spot should slope smoothly without too much of a dent. And that bottom jaw is pushed quite a ways back, the lips should connect at the front and just slope back slightly The body looks a bit odd. It seems you have the chest pushed back behind the front legs. What you should do its pretty much "push" the chest forwards where it does appear in the front instead of just the neck and not show so much in the back. The stomach needs to be smaller, instead of sloping down, it needs to keep coming up The legs are surprisingly not as bad as one would think, usually people screw up the legs the most. The only problem I can see is in the back legs, you have the leg bent properly, but you have it fluff up in the back instead of separating the rump from the leg. You should be able to see where the back of the hind leg bends. Look up some pictures of wolves sitting/laying to understand better.
Fur/Shading- I think the first thing I noticed when I saw the image was the jagged lines to show the fur in the body. It looks like a saw blade. Try some softer, freestyle, and smaller strokes to help define the fur pattern and muscles. Similar to the sketch here: https://www.deviantart.com/imaginationartsxd/art/Varju-s-Anger-751384863 For the shading, If your wanting a metallic look, have the highlights be sharp and bright. Also, do not forget your shadows!
I hope this could be of some help! If I need to elaborate on anything, please let me know!
This helped so much! Thanks for the feedback!

https://s22.postimg.cc/bfsonzmdr/0032.png This is one of my most recent pieces, you can help critique whatever you feel necessary, but my main problems are tails. X') I feel I make them too short, or long and curly and somewhat awkward (Example of a horrid tail) https://s22.postimg.cc/z6s264p5t/blue.png And in most of my art, the tails are the same position, straight, flopped over paws, slightly curled at the tip, etc. Maybe you could help me figure out how to make more variety? Thank you! ^^ Edited at August 10, 2018 10:06 PM by Wilverbeast

Maybe this can help some

A common mistake made with paws is that most people (And I wont lie, I still end up doing this) will make round paws/toes. Instead, make them more rectangular, and try adding slits on the front of toes where the claws are, it helps people recognize the direction and angle the paw is a little more
I'd like to add something... When drawing cat paws, unless if they can't sheathe their claws (such as cheetahs), or if you are drawing the paws with claws unsheathed, you'll want to do more of an oval shape for the toes :D Also, for the basis of my dog's toes, I usually start it a more curved base for the side view, then add the claws, so that it doesn't appear the toes are sharp, but that there are claws on the foot :)

Hello! So, I've noticed how amazing you are at making things look 3D, and I feel like all my art is really flat. I also felt the eyes were kinda weird, even though it's supposed to be somewhat cartoony. Think you could help? I was kinda experimenting with this strange thing XD Any other critique would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much! https://s26.postimg.cc/kgc2ct593/B3333_ADD-_E7_B0-4_C2_F-_A6_DE-_CEDCCF7_BF040.png?dl=1
