Sky gave a quick glance to Alex, not keeping his eyes off the road for too long. "Well, I know this is a basic fucking answer but it's gotta be king nothing or fade to black." Skylar said gasping after a moment, "Oh but their cover of Die Die My Darling is great as well, same with Creeping Death. All of their songs are good." Sky said with a chuckle. He gave Alex's hand a slight squeeze before rubbing the back of his hand with his thumb. "You like 'em?" Sky asked, throwing another quick glance at Alex. He would assume a guy like Alex wouldn't listen to a band like Metallica, so he would definitely be surprised if he said yes. Talking about music and the bands he liked made him happy since music was a big part of his life. A blush crept up on his face and he smiled to himself. He liked that Alex actually showed interest in what he liked, it made him feel special.

Alex was quiet as he listened to Skylar give his answer. He smiled upon seeing the way he seemed to light up speaking about a band he clearly enjoyed listening to. While he personally wasn't all that familiar with Metallica he'd heard a few songs and recognized a few of the names that were given. "Fade to Black is good." He said once Skylar had finished. At his question, he gave a slight nod. "I wouldn't say I'm a die-hard fan, but I do like some of their music." He answered with a soft chuckle. His answer was an honest and genuine one, though even if he didn't like any of their music he wouldn't be so open about such a thing, not when Skylar so clearly enjoyed them. Feeling Skylar's thumb beginning rubbing at the back of his hand he glanced down and smiled faintly to himself before looking up at Skylar and taking in the sight of him driving. "So... where's this place you're taking me to?" He asked with a slight tilt of his head.

Skylar smiled extra hard when he heard Alex say one of his favourite songs was good. He overall didn't think it mattered if Alex listened to them or not, but hearing him say good and nice things about them made Sky happy. "Hm, you'll see Alex." Sky replied to Alex's question. He didn't want to tell him, he wanted it to be a surprise. Sky knew where they were going would make them kill a ton of time but they'd both enjoy it. "Did you make sure to let your parents know when you'll be home? I can drop you off right after the movies as well so you aren't home too late." Skylar offered, knowing that his parents could be strict. "Oh and once we're done at the surprise place we'll get stuff from the store before heading to the drive-in. Does that sound good to you?" Sky asked, throwing a glance at Alex. Swiftly Sky let go of Alex's hand because it was getting sweaty, but he didn't remove it from Alex's lap. "Sorry, I hate when my hand gets sweaty but it's hot in here." Skylar said as he pressed the button to roll down both of their windows a bit.

Alex hummed softly and studied Skylar when he answered his question. So this place he was being brought to was a surprise then? That intrigued Alex all the more, but he kept himself from repeating the question or showing his growing interest in curiosity. With a soft sigh escaping him, Alex leaned back in the seat and turned his gaze from Skylar to the road stretching out before them. He listened to the music playing and watched as the buildings and houses flew past the window as they drove. When Skylar spoke once more he looked over at him, pausing at the question. He hadn't and found he didn't want to for fear of them refusing him and Skylar their first date. "Not yet..." He admitted after a moment of hesitation though he was sitting up and moving to grab his phone from his pocket. He didn't want to call, so figured that a text would be enough. Hearing about being dropped off at home once their night out was over, Alex gave a faint smile and nodded. "That sounds good." He said as he unlocked his phone and went to give his parents a quick and simple text, informing them that he was going to be out at the drive-in with a friend. Once he'd typed out the message he hit send, not giving himself a chance to second guess the act, and returned his phone to his pocket. ` Letting out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding he looked towards Skylar once more and laughed softly at his apology. "It's fine." He managed to say just before the rush of wind filtered into the truck through the cracked windows. "And yeah, that sounds good." He added, recalling what Skylar had said and asked of him only moments ago.

The rest of the drive was pretty quiet, with only the sounds of Metallica playing and the wind. Sky's hand rested on Alex's leg, and he dared not to go farther down. He kept his eyes on the road... for the most part and the same goes for his other hand on the steering wheel, again, for the most part. It only took about 20 minutes to get to the surprise place, and Sky didn't have to say where they were. When pulling into the parking lot there was a big sign that said Riverfield Art Museum. It was one of the biggest art museums closest to them, only one town over. Sky knew they both liked art so he thought of it on the spot really. "Well, surprise!" Sky said chuckling because he knew Alex probably already realized. "Since we both like art I thought it would be perfect. I'm not sure if you've already been here but I haven't." Sky then said as he parked the car and rolled the windows up before turning the engine off. He looked over at Alex smiling, he hoped Alex likes the surprise. "Okay lets go." Sky said after looking at Alex for a moment. He unbuckled his seatbelt and opened the truck door. Stepping out he felt the breeze through his hair and all on his upper body. He was only wearing his black wifebeater and light sweatpants, and now that he was thinking about it he should have changed into shorts. It was fine though because later on when it gets cooler he will be glad he has pants on. Walking over to the passenger side of the truck, Alex was already out so he just began walking towards the museum's entrance. He swiftly locked the truck and put the keys in his pocket.

The drive was a calming one, and Alex allowed himself to relax and enjoy it completely. He let out a soft sigh as he did so, eyes on the road ahead of them as Skylar drove. He remained acutely aware of the hand on his leg but wasn't bothered but it. On the contrary, he found he quite enjoyed the warmth and the weight of it. For the next twenty minutes, he didn't say anything but simply soaked in the comfortable silence of the truck. It was only when Skylar pulled into a parking lot that he sat up. His blue gaze swiftly fell on the large sign with the name of the place they were at. Riverfield Art Museum. He paused in surprise before looking over at Skylar as if not entirely sure he was seeing things right. He'd taken him to an art museum, and not just any art museum but the largest museum closest to the small town they lived in. ` Quietly he listened as Sky spoke before smiling brightly and giving a shake of his head. "I haven't been here before either." He said. However, over the course of his life, he'd wanted to stop by whenever he drove past. There was always some excuse his parents or friends made as to why they couldn't stop, which resulted in him having never been. Unbuckling his seatbelt, Alex opened the door and got out of the truck. He moved from the sign to the building, before shifting over to Skylar. He watched as he moved around the truck and smiled some. The surprise was amazing, and one that Alex very much liked. When Skylar started towards the doors of the building, Alex was quick to fall into step beside him.

Skylar pulled out his phone and looked up when the drive-in was going to open. He knew it usually starts at 7 pm and plays 2 to 3 movies, but he wanted to be sure, plus he wanted to see what movies were playing. "Okay so the movies playing tonight is a cheesy rom-com, and then some kid movie so I doubt we'll stay for that one." Skylar stated as they both walked up to the front doors. Sky opened the door, holding it open for Alex. He walked in after Alex did and quickly returned to his side. Sky has never been to an art museum before so he doesn't really know what to expect. What he's thinking though is that there's just going to be a bunch of artwork, some weird but meaningful, and some that are just really beautiful and out of this world. "Im really glad you're here with me Alex, like really glad." Sky said quietly and softly as he looked over at Alex. He didn't attempt to hold Alex's hand because of him not being totally comfortable with his sexuality and all of this yet.

Alex walked alongside Skylar as they headed to the front of the museum. When he started speaking he looked over at him and listened as he spoke before chuckling faintly. "Wonderful options." He said playfully, though honestly, he didn't care what they watched. He was just glad that they were going to go out and watch something. Was he nervous and terrified, sure but he was just as thrilled and excited, a combo of emotions that left him feeling a little confused. He didn't allow himself to pay much attention to the negative feelings and instead focused on the excitement he felt. "Thanks," Alex said when Sky opened the door for him. He stepped through and then turned to wait for Skylar before continuing further into the building. At his words, he paused and looked at him, a hint of surprise in his gaze before he smiled and gave a nod. "Really?" He asked quietly as he looked at him. After a moment he cleared his throat before nodding. "I'm happy you're with me too." He said after a second. He looked away, his cheeks warming slightly as he did so.

(Ah ignore how short this is) Sky smirked at Alex's response, "I would hope so," he replied. Skylar was still swirling with emotions on the inside, but he was mostly happy. Skylar didn't want his emotions to ruin this date, their first date. This day would be special, especially if they began dating or something, Sky thought. He pushed any bad emotions down, he just wanted to feel all the good emotions. Skylar couldn't help but look at Alex a ton as they continued to walk. "Okay well, time to stare at art." Sky said, and that's when he had a great idea. He stopped dead in his tracks and crossed his arms. While doing all of that he kept his eyes on Alex.

Alex tossed a glance up at Skylar when he responded but found himself unable to keep his gaze on him for long. He could barely believe this was happening, not only that he'd instigated this date... but that he was here as well. At Skylar's next words, Alex glanced at him and laughed softly before nodding. Staring at art. That was certainly one way to put it. He liked to think of it more as observing the paintings, drawings, and other forms of art present. He enjoyed trying to see the perspective of the artist and quite liked hearing about how others perceived his artwork as well. It was because he was lost in thought that he hadn't noticed immediately when Skylar had stopped walking. Only once he was a good few feet away and had turned to look toward Skylar to say something that he noticed he wasn't next to him. He slowed to a stop, his heart leaping in his throat with a rush of anxiety and he turned to loo around. The moment his eyes landed on Skylar he relaxed a little before raising a brow and stepping back towards him. "Everything okay?" He asked softly.
