Feo froze mid-step at Lucius’s words, still leaning heavily against the door. His chest was rising and falling rapidly, his heart hammering more from nerves than the mad dash he’d just made through town. Slowly, he turned his head to meet Lucius’s gaze, one hand still resting on the doorframe as though he needed the stability.
-
The soft accusation about the kiss hit him like a sudden gale, and he couldn’t stop the faint heat that rushed to his face. Of all the things Lucius could have brought up... Feo’s lips parted, but no words came at first. He shut them again and gave a quick, nervous laugh, his fingers tugging at the edge of his now-rumpled shirt. “Oh. So, uh... we're starting with that, are we?”
-
His voice wavered just slightly as he pushed off the door, clearing his throat and moving toward the suitcase he’d dumped onto the floor. “Okay, first of all,” he started, gesturing vaguely toward Lucius without looking at him directly, “insufferable doesn’t mean bad, alright? You’re a good kind of insufferable, if that’s a thing. I didn’t mean it as a total insult.” He crouched down by the suitcase, undoing the zipper with a faint metallic sound, his movements sharper than usual. “But if you must know, essentials include—” Feo yanked the suitcase open with a flourish, motioning to the chaotic mess inside, “—clothes, food, water, and, uh...” His voice faltered slightly as his eyes landed on the gun that he'd just placed in there when he opened it, tucked just underneath a bundle of shirts. “A... contingency plan. You know, just in case.”
-
He glanced over his shoulder at Lucius, whose expression made it clear the kiss wasn’t a subject that was going to be dropped anytime soon. Feo let out a slow, controlled breath, straightened up, and wiped his palms against his pants as though he needed something to do with his hands. “Look,” he said carefully, standing tall and facing Lucius fully now. “About that kiss. I—” He stopped, running a hand through his hair and tugging at the strands near the back of his neck. “Okay, fine. I panicked. Happy? You were spiraling, and I—I didn’t know what else to do to get you to stay put. I didn’t exactly think it through. It was, uh... impulsive.”
-
Feo crossed his arms over his chest, his fingers tapping restlessly against his elbows as his gaze shifted to the floor. “I’m not saying it was the smartest move, and yeah, I get it. First kiss and all that. Not exactly the most romantic setting, huh?” His voice softened slightly, almost apologetic. “But it worked, didn’t it? You stayed. And that was the point.”
-
He lifted his head, his eyes meeting Lucius’s again. The blush on his face deepened, but there was a steadiness in his gaze now, something quietly resolute. “Look, I don’t regret it, alright? I don’t. Maybe it wasn’t perfect, but I had to do something to keep you safe. And if that meant being... I don’t know, forward? Fine. I’d do it again if I had to.”
-
Feo’s shoulders sagged slightly as he exhaled, his expression softening further. “But I get it. You’re mad because it wasn’t fair. Because it wasn’t planned. And you’re right—it wasn’t. You deserved better. You do deserve better.” He hesitated for a moment, his fingers tightening against his arms before he uncrossed them and took a step closer to the bed. “So let me make it up to you. I mean it. We’ll get through this madness, and when we’re not running for our lives or looking over our shoulders, I’ll do it right. Proper first-kiss territory. You have my word. Or, y'know," he regained a little confidence, offering a small smirk, "you could just fix it here."
-
Feo leaned forward slightly, his elbows resting on his knees as he tilted his head to one side. “And for the record,” he added with a small, teasing smile, “you didn’t exactly complain in the moment, did you? So maybe I’m not the only one at fault here, hmm?” He kept his voice soft, his words more playful than pointed, watching Lucius carefully for a reaction.

At the least, Feo's face flushed with color. That was good. That was very good actually and Lucius swung his feet over the side of the bed, planting them firmly.

"We are starting with that," he huffed lightly, without too much heat to his voice. It was a bit shaky but determined nonetheless.

"No, insufferable doesn't mean bad," the winged demigod echoed. "But it was a low blow."

He stepped from the bed to look toward the suitcase. Food, water, clothing--all good things. And a gun, or as Feo put it... a contingency plan. Sure. That was what they were going to call that but there were far more pressing matters at hand.

As Feo spoke, Lucius stood up from the bed and shook his head, removing the watch to toss beside the bow. It landed on the mattress but the thump was drowned out in the ripple of white feathers.

His sapphire eyes focused on the demigod, tilting his head for a moment before he shook his head lightly. As much as he wanted to, he knew that Feo would feel the wrap, ask questions and that would lead to a whole different mess because Feo wouldn't take "it's kind of hidden more" for an answer.

"No, and I wasn't expecting it. But... also, I ... I was expecting to see ... you--y'know. It... it caught me off guard to not see you... like this," he waved one hand lightly, taking in a deeper breath. "It's alright. We can fix it later. But... plans?"

The last question was far more hesitant, as if inching out onto thin ice. The stretch was careful and almost questioning. He tested the question first before pushing forward again.

"I want to do this together," Lucius explained firmly, taking a seat on the bed again. "And that means compromising or coming up with an idea that works for both of us--that we both feel good about. Even if it's just planning for the rest of the day and putting it off till tomorrow."

Lucius drew his sapphire gaze upward, meeting Feo's dual-colored eyes. Blue and green. His eyes were gorgeous, absolutely stunning. It wasn't like the brown eyes that had met his ... during the kiss--that was why it felt wrong. Lucius hadn't truly internalized that it was Feo. He wasn't used to that side of things just yet.

But those were thoughts for later. Much, much later.

"Do we rest? Do we not?" Lucius continued along the previous train of thoughts. "I want to know what you think is best so we can do this together."

Feo’s face burned hotter at Lucius’s huff, his eyes darting away like a kid caught sneaking into the cookie jar. He tried to swallow the lump in his throat, but Lucius’s unwavering determination—and that perfectly aimed reminder of the kiss—made it impossible to shake the rush of nervous energy coursing through him.
-
When Lucius swung his feet over the edge of the bed and stood, Feo instinctively took a small step back, as if bracing himself for... what, exactly? A lecture? A scolding? Another reminder of his questionable decision-making? But no, Lucius was calm, measured—firm in a way that made Feo’s chest ache. How could someone look so composed when everything around them was spiraling?
-
Feo watched as the watch was tossed onto the mattress, his gaze flicking to the ripple of white feathers as Lucius moved. He didn’t even realize he was staring until Lucius spoke again, the softness in his voice drawing Feo’s attention back to the conversation.
-
The mention of his earlier disguise made Feo shift uncomfortably, his arms crossing over his chest. He rubbed at the back of his neck, the tips of his fingers brushing against the nape of his neck. “Yeah, sorry about that,” Feo muttered, his voice quieter now. “Didn’t think it’d throw you off that much. I just... figured it’d be easier to avoid questions if I didn’t look like me out there.”
-
He scratched at the back of his head, his eyes briefly flicking toward the gun in the suitcase before he quickly shut it, zipping it closed with a firm tug. “Anyway,” he said, clearing his throat as he tried to shift the focus back to something more practical, “I guess I was... kind of winging it out there. Essentials. Just in case. Because if—if she decides to show up again, I don’t want to be caught empty-handed.” His words were rushed, almost stumbling over themselves, but his tone hardened as he finished. “I’m not letting her corner us.”
-
Feo froze when Lucius sat back down and brought up plans—their plans. He blinked at the winged demigod, his lips parting as though he wanted to speak but wasn’t quite sure how. For a moment, he could only watch as Lucius looked up at him with those piercing sapphire eyes, his resolve etched into every word. Together. That seemed to be a recurring theme that Feo didn't really mind.
-
A deep breath escaped Feo’s chest, and his tense shoulders eased just slightly as he sank onto the bed beside Lucius. He leaned forward, resting his forearms on his thighs as he stared down at the floor, his hands loosely clasped together. The silence stretched for a few beats before he finally spoke, his voice quieter than before. “I don’t know what the smartest move is right now. Part of me wants to just... get the hell out of here and keep running until we’re out of her reach. But another part of me knows that’s not a plan—it’s a reaction. It’s not sustainable.”
-
He glanced sideways at Lucius, his mismatched eyes catching the faint glow of the room’s dim light. “I want to do this together too, alright? But that means being real with you—there’s no version of this where I feel good about leaving right now. Not without supplies, not without a better idea of what we’re up against.” Feo straightened slightly, his hands moving to rest on his knees as his gaze drifted toward the bolted door. “So I think... I think resting for now might be the best option. Let her make the next move while we get our heads straight.”
-
Turning back to face Lucius fully, Feo offered a faint, lopsided smile, though his expression carried a weight of quiet determination. “But if you’ve got a better idea, I’m all ears. You know I trust you, Lulu. Always.” His voice softened at the end, the familiar nickname slipping out with an ease that made him wince slightly—like he’d let something too raw slip through the cracks.
-
Feo shifted on the bed, his knee brushing against Lucius’s as he reached out and placed a hand lightly on his shoulder. “We’ll figure it out,” he said, his grip steady but gentle. “I promise. Or, we won't, and plan B is bullets through everyone's heads. Y'know.” His mismatched eyes searched Lucius’s face for a moment, as if willing the words to stick.
-
And whatever happened next, Feo was determined to keep that promise.

The disguise made sense. Lucius wasn't really thinking about that, just more of the fact that he hadn't initially recognized Feo. He didn't want to be rude or anything like that but at the same time, he wasn't sure what exactly to say about it. Luckily, it seemed that it was more or less dropped for both of them.

Essentials. That was a much better plan than he had come up with. He had entirely forgotten about any of that and had focused solely on the woman and what to do there. It hadn't occurred to him that getting anything to just go with might have been a good idea.

"That's actually really good. I definitely wouldn't have thought about that at all," he admitted quietly. He was--he was reacting to the situation rather than just acting with a solid plan of action. Reactions often lacked logic and critical thinking. It was a habit, an instinct rather than something smart.

His eyes followed Feo as he sat down on his right. Lucius had wrapped his left arm which was good. It meant that likely, he wouldn't feel it. And a vast part of him really hoped that if Feo did... he'd accept the 'safer place for it' excuse. If someone demanded they emptied their pockets, the wrap wouldn't be there.

Resting. Giving them time to think, to recuperate and to hopefully take the edge off of the panic and tension that this mysterious woman had created. That was far less fun. The panic, the rush of emotion...

Lucius finally bobbed his head. "That's a good idea," he agreed quietly. "I think if we just play it like I had said it, it'll work out. I said you weren't feeling good, but I assumed it was the food. Say, instead, you caught a bug...? It gives us a few more days since, in reality, I'd get sick too. Nobody really can travel with a stomach bug. It's pretty much impossible."

He bobbed his head slowly. "We can think, we stay here... maybe she goes to campus thinking we actually were. Or if she comes poking around, that's the story. We caught some sort of bug and now we're just resting it off."

Lucius leaned into his side, curling one white wing around his shoulders. "I'm glad I have you," he whispered, resting his head on Feo's shoulder. "I really am. You are my... my everything."

Feo paused, his eyebrows raising for a moment as Lucius leaned into him, the weight of the winged demigod’s words sinking deep into his chest. His breath hitched slightly, and he swallowed hard, unsure how to respond. My everything. Those two simple words hit him like a bolt of lightning, and for a moment, he couldn’t bring himself to speak. How long he'd been wishing to be, at the very least, something to someone. Instead, he'd become an everything, not just a something. He felt like a little bug, clinging to Lucius's side. He hoped he wasn't joking. He really, really hoped.
-
The warmth of Lucius’s wing curling around his shoulders brought a strange sense of comfort and grounding. Feo’s usual sharp edges softened as he slowly let out a quiet, steady breath. He tilted his head slightly, letting it rest lightly against Lucius’s for a brief moment, his eyes closing.
-
“I’m glad I’ve got you too,” Feo murmured, his voice low and steady. “You’re... you’re more than I deserve, Lulu. You know that, right?” He pulled back just enough once more to glance at Lucius, his eyes searching his face. “But I’m not about to let anything happen to you. I’ll make sure you’re safe, no matter what it takes.”
-
His hand found Lucius’s where it rested between them, his fingers brushing against his lightly before he clasped it firmly. Feo’s grip was warm, grounding—steady in a way that felt like an unspoken promise. “Your plan’s smart,” he admitted. “It gives us time. Time to figure her out, figure out what she wants, and maybe even throw her off the trail for a bit. And you’re right—no one questions a stomach bug. It’s gross enough that people don’t even want to ask.”
-
A soft chuckle escaped him at that, though it quickly faded into something more serious. “But we need to be careful, alright? She’s smart. Smarter than most. And if she’s already tracking us, it means she’s not playing games. Whatever she’s after... it’s big.” Feo’s jaw tightened for a moment before he forced himself to relax, his grip on Lucius’s hand loosening slightly.
-
“I’ll watch the door and window,” he added after a beat, his tone leaving no room for argument. “You’ve been running on fumes since we got here, and I don’t care what you say—you need to sleep. Even if it’s just for a few hours.” He glanced at the bolted door, narrowing his eyes slightly. “I’ll keep an eye out until we leave. You just... rest. Until night, we can.." he looked down at the floor. "Try on clothes, I guess? I just picked up a bunch of stuff that I thought might fit me. It could be a little big on you.. sorry about that. I wanted to go quickly." His voice had turned sheepish. "I didn't want to leave you alone."
-
Feo’s free hand lifted to run through Lucius’s hair gently. He was starting to get addicted to the feeling of the soft locks between his fingers—the way they fell over his hand, and slid sideways down other strands of bright, ethereal gold. “No matter what she throws at us, we’ll get through it. You and me, okay? Promise you won't ever go?"
-
He let his hand linger for a moment longer before pulling back, his eyes meeting Lucius’s. “You’re my everything too, you know,” he added quietly, the words almost shy as they left his lips. “Even if I don’t always know how to say it.”

Lucius took in a deeper breath. More than he deserved? No, not at all. Lucius felt just right, just like he was with who he was supposed to be with. That was good enough. But somehow, he didn't really have time to answer that--to point that out to Feo before the demigod had continued on his train of thoughts.

A small smile drifted over his lips for a few moments as he nodded. His hand, his grip, tightened around the Norse demigod's hand as well. "If they do, well, I have little qualms about giving way more information than they asked for."

Not all of it would be particularly true but it'd get the point across well enough. And boy, could Lucius spin a wonderful tale and paint the picture with vivid detail if needed.

But he was right. The was smart--she was after something. Lucius knew it was Feo. He wasn't anything special, nothing of importance or value in that sense. He could sort of sense change, definitely felt like it mattered, he had wings. That was about it when it came to being anything remotely celestial or powerful. Feo, on the other hand, was far more powerful than he was.

The tone that the other picked up was familiar and strong. There wasn't much Lucius could say--if anything--that could sway his mind.

"We can always tailor something," Lucius responded softly. "It's alright. Bringing in the sides a little bit, hemming and whatnot... it's not that hard. I know how to do that."

If they had the supplies to do so, that would work. If not? Well, they'd make do with what they had.

His chest took in a deeper breath finally, reluctantly, settling down. The winged demigod really didn't want to rest. That wasn't what he wanted to be doing at that current moment, he wanted to be moving, to be doing something to ... to do something. Not to sleep.

Feo was right, however. The whole thing with Heimdall hadn't exactly left him feeling like he slept well the next morning. Then, with little time to recuperate, they had gone out in search of the collector... and then lunch and then the whole thing with the woman and he didn't exactly feel like resting before either.

His eyes flicked up toward Feo, meeting his green and blue gaze. "Sometimes, you don't have to say a thing," Lucius whispered, squeezing Feo's hand again. "Sometimes, it's more in what you do... than what you say."

The blond young man let go of Feo's hand, making sure to lay down on his left side and covered himself with one wing. Feathers, as it turned out, usually made a nice blanket.

Feo watched Lucius settle in, the soft rustle of feathers filling the room as the winged demigod draped himself beneath his own wing. There was something both heartwarming and heart-wrenching about the sight—Lucius, trusting him enough to let his guard down, to rest in a moment where everything felt so uncertain. It made Feo’s chest ache in a way he wasn’t entirely used to, but he shook the feeling off, refocusing his attention. He had to stay sharp.
-
The Norse demigod stood slowly, careful not to disturb Lucius as he lay there, and glanced toward the bolted door. He checked it once, then again, jiggling the lock just to make sure it was secure. It was a small habit of his—one born from years of needing to keep watch over his surroundings, to ensure no one could sneak up on him or those he cared about. The feather he had jammed into the lock held firm, and the extra measure gave him just a little more peace of mind.
-
Feo turned his attention back to the suitcase he’d dropped earlier, crouching down beside it to take stock of what they had. He rifled through the clothing first, pulling out pieces and setting them aside. Most of it would fit with some minor adjustments, and Lucius’s offer to tailor things was reassuring. Feo wasn’t entirely sure when or where they’d find the time to sew, but if anyone could make it work, it was Lucius.
-
The food and water came next—enough to last them a few days if they rationed carefully. Feo grimaced slightly as he eyed the meager selection. He’d have to figure out how to stretch it if their stay here turned into anything longer than a few days. The first aid kits, at least, were well-stocked. That was one small victory.
-
Then there was the gun. Feo hesitated, his hand hovering over the weapon for a moment before he picked it up, turning it over in his hands. It was heavier than he’d expected, the cold metal pressing into his palm. He didn’t like the idea of using it—not really—but he knew better than to dismiss its value. If the woman came back, if she was as dangerous as she seemed, then having some kind of contingency plan wasn’t just smart; it was necessary.
-
Feo sighed, setting the gun down and rubbing a hand over his face. His mismatched eyes flicked toward Lucius. He softened slightly at the sight, his hand dropping to his side.
-
“Sometimes, it’s more in what you do,” Lucius had said. Feo thought about that for a moment, letting the words sink in. Maybe he didn’t always have the right words—maybe he didn’t need them. But he could do. He could be there, he could protect him, and he could make sure that, no matter what, Lucius had someone at his side.
-
With that thought, Feo stood and moved to the window, careful not to make too much noise. He pulled back the curtain just enough to peek outside, scanning the street below for anything—or anyone—out of place. The city lights cast long shadows on the pavement, and for a moment, everything seemed quiet. Normal. But Feo knew better than to let his guard down. He stayed there for a while, watching, listening, and keeping one eye on the door and the other on the world outside.
-
As the minutes ticked by, Feo found his gaze drifting back to Lucius, curled up beneath his wing. It was a rare moment of peace, and Feo felt a fierce determination rise in his chest. He wouldn’t let anyone take this away from him—not now, not ever. He'd face this woman head-on. For Lucius.

The warmth of Apollo's wrap against his skin was slightly comforting in a way. The unearthly warmth wasn't hot, it wasn't too hot, but it was a gentle warmth that felt like... like the sun on a spring day. The gentle touch of a spring's sun after a crisp wintry morning. Something that lifted the head of flowers toward the blue sky, bringing hope and light.

But deep down, he knew that despite the warmth and the comfort it brought... it wasn't going to heal a thing. His scars would still be there and his bones wouldn't be any bit stronger. Even if he wanted them to be more than what they were, there was no real way to fix that. Well, there was but it was the forbidden choice. Apparently--Lucius still wasn't entirely sure what made it a bad idea but Feo's reaction told him more than his words could. It was a really bad idea.

He just wished he could figure out why.

His sapphire eyes slowly drifted closed, letting himself finally get some semblance of sleep. Or ... at least that's what he wanted. Whether or not he'd actually end up getting any... well, that'd be a question to find out later.

He let out a brief puff of air, settling in to doze off as he finally--finally--managed to slip into a light sleep.

The itching of golden eyes stared back at him. Golden eyes that weren't Heimdal's. No, they were far more faded and distant. The eyes were familiar... in a way he couldn't quite figure out.

A whisper of danger drifted toward him but he couldn't really care. He was focused on trying to remember where he had seen those eyes before.

Another quiet whisper drifted by, but it was too faint to really understand what was being said. Lucius couldn't hardly hear it, but he was focused. It was there and now that he had his attention on it, he could barely pick out the words.

Words... well, it was more of a phrase. The victor's crown.

The words collided with each other as another voice joined in. Something about a winged son. The being of light and victory. Light and victory? That didn't go together. Plus, that wasn't Lucius. But was it another person they were supposed to find?

Was this some sort of vague prophecy?

Did they have to find a kid of Nike? Or ... what was her Roman counterpart? Triumphia or something like that. He couldn't remember.

But the most important one, the one he kept hearing, was firm and strong. Be alert. Be wary.

He wanted to ask if they should leave or not but he had already stirred by then with a small noise. A faint groan from waking up.

"... I think we need to find a kid of Nike or whatever. A victory goddess."

Feo looks back out of the window, his mismatched eyes scanning the street below for any sign of movement. The longer he watches, the more his nerves begin to settle—until something catches his eye. His gaze sharpens as he spots her: the woman, leaning casually against a pole. Her arms are crossed, and her posture is relaxed, as if she has all the time in the world. Feo's stomach knots as she tilts her head ever so slightly, her eyes lifting to meet his. And then she smiles.
-
The expression is calm, almost playful, but to Feo, it feels like a dagger cutting through his chest. His breath catches, and before he knows it, he's stumbling back from the window, his heel catching on the edge of the carpet. He nearly topples over completely, his back brushing against the bedframe as he catches himself just in time. His heart pounds in his ears, a roaring sound that drowns out everything else as a tornado of thoughts and emotions swirl inside him. What is she doing here? How did she find us? Did she follow me? Is this my fault? God, this is all my fault.
-
Forcing his legs to work, Feo steps back toward the window, his hands gripping the curtain tightly. He parts it just enough to look out again, his heart racing as his eyes dart across the street. She’s gone. Just like that. No trace of her—no shadow, no lingering movement. Nothing.
-
Feo’s breathing quickens, panic clawing its way up his throat. His shoulders jerk slightly when he hears Lucius mumble something behind him, the sound cutting through the storm in his mind. He turns sharply, his eyes wide, and nearly shrieks as the noise startles him further. For a moment, he just stares, struggling to steady himself.
-
He forces his panic down, swallowing hard and taking a shaky breath. He pushes a hand through his hair, trying to ground himself, and steps toward the bed. Feo hesitates, not wanting to wake him, but the faint sound of his voice pulls him closer.
-
With a gentleness that feels at odds with the chaos inside him, Feo reaches out, carefully moving Lucius’s wing to the side. He places a hand against Lucius’s head, brushing his fingers through his hair, but quickly pulls back when he notices how much his hand is trembling. He clenches his fists at his sides, stepping back slightly, before deciding to brace himself with one knee on the bed.
-
Hovering over Lucius, Feo leans in closer, his voice quiet but laced with tension. "What, baby?" he murmurs, trying to keep the panic out of his tone.
-
Feo swallows hard, watching him closely. When Lucius murmurs something about finding it, Feo feels his stomach twist. His mind spins as he tries to piece together what Lucius might be dreaming about. Or, had been. Feo couldn't really tell if Lucius was asleep or awake—no, his eyes are open, that's a good sign. Did he see her, too? Did she do something I didn’t notice? He doesn’t know what to think, but the uncertainty gnaws at him.
-
Unable to bear his own stillness, Feo shifts closer, his voice soft but insistent. "Find what?" he whispers, his eyes locked on Lucius’s face.

Lucius shook his head lightly as he tried to fish the cobwebs of sleep from his mind. "... Feo...?"

His eyes focused on the Norse demigod, noting the shaking in his hand. There was something strange about the way he looked, the way he was.... acting. Lucius sat up slowly, his wings folding back behind him as he studied Feo.

There was tension in his voice, something he whispered.

"I don't really know how to explain it. But there were golden eyes--I've seen them before. I just don't know... where or how. There were whispers--something said danger. I ..." he scowled for a moment, trying to scrub his memory for the rest of it. "... something about the Victor's crown, a winged kid and the being of light and victory. I think we've got to find some kid of Nike ... maybe... her Roman counterpart."

Triumphia? That wasn't right.

"Victoria."

That was right.

"Now, I wish I could figure out the light part of that. Light and victory? There's not a deity that matches that description--what's wrong...?"

Lucius pushed the dream aside to half crawl, half scoot across the bed to hold onto Feo. "What's wrong?" He echoed quietly, studying his face for a moment or two before finding a conclusion. "... she was outside, wasn't she?"

Persistent woman.

Lucius sighed quietly, sitting down on the bed again. Somehow, he was already tired of her. It hadn't even been that long and he was already tired of her.

"If she comes to the door, she's going to lose a few teeth," he grumbled dryly, rubbing his forehead and temples. "I'm already absolutely exhausted just by the thought of her. She gets a singular cease and desist notice. After that, she'll be receiving a cease to exist notice."

He grumbled and laid out on the bed again, wings splayed out as he gestured for Feo to settle with him. His sapphire eyes glittered with a few emotions, annoyance was the biggest one.

While technically she hadn't woken him up, he was blaming her. He didn't really want to be awake but now he didn't have much of a choice and he was absolutely blaming her.

It was her fault that he was awake.

And if she came to the door, he was not holding back. He didn't have to use the bow in its proper form. A stick was still a stick and he could swing it like a bat.

That wouldn't feel great.

But even if it broke something in him, they had the wrap. He'd be fine.

Lucius buried his head in his arms with another short groan. "I don't want to be awake," he complained, a touch of frustration in his complaint, "and it's all her fault."
