Name: Calliope ("Calli") Sudduth

Ability: She is a werewolf. Not the pretty, tame kind that just goes from wolf to human, no... the old-fashioned, wolf-human abomination that rips throats out as a hobby. Luckily she has a potion she can take so that she transforms every full moon, but retains her human mind. (Harry Potter anyone?) Sadly if she runs out of this potion she will rampage out of control, searching for the blood of living creatures.
Being a werewolf means she has heightened senses (hearing, sight and smell), remarkably quick reflexes, and, when she transforms especially, enhanced physical strength and stamina.
Studying to be: A doctor/surgeon. But when no one is sick or bleeding, she will often take up the Lookout position.
Appearance: Calliope appears to be your stereotypical pretty, preppy girl, with wavy, borderline curly champagne-blonde hair, vivid seafoam green eyes, and a rounded, sweet face that could charm anyone into trusting her. Her hair is on the long side, especially for a pirate, reaching down to her upper back. But it's usually tied back in some way. Her skin is tanned from days out in the sun, and her skin is sprinked generously with freckles. especially on her face, shoulders and arms. She is of average height, standing at 5'6, but has a surprising amount of muscle to her and is far from weak or fragile. Hers would be classified as a more sturdy, strong build, rather than slender or willowy. (Thanks, werewolf genes! Thankfully the extra hair growth thing is minimal, and relatively easy to resolve.)
She has a noticable southern accent, that adds to her unassuming, friendly demeanor.
Her werewolf form is a far cry from her human one. This form is a hulking 6'6, 350 pound monster, covered in rugged, ashen brown fur. It is longer and darker down her spine, forming a hyena-esque mane, while being lighter brown/whiteish on her underbelly and hands(/paws). Her head resembles that of a wolf, with long, pointed ears and a long snout, with razor sharp teeth. Her hands are larger, and armed with 5 long, talonlike claws. The same goes for her feet.
Personality:
Callie comes across as a typical girly girl at first - warm. social, bubbly and always willing to chat with new people and make friends. She is very open and accepting of all people, striking up a conversation with anyone who will give her the time of day. She has learned from years of experience that being judged for how you look and not what you do won't get you anywhere. She appears submissive and meek to some more leader-y types, but she knows what she'd good at and what she's not. She isn't a leader type and probably never will be. And she's accepted that.
As well as picking up new things and skills with remarkable speed, Callie is very emotionally intelligent, as well as empathetic. She can read people and animals alike with ease and surprising accuracy. She is very compassionate and does her best not to let her temper get between her and a person who is struggling. She laughs and cries easily, and gets very emotional/attached easily. Underneath that ditzy, girly surface is a strong, loving and incredibly loyal young lady who would gladly risk her life to save another. She will tend to an injured crewmate through the night, and sees people in their worst hours. Her healing abilities are a manifestation of her drive to help others.
Unfortunately, despite the confidence she displays now, Callie struggles with self esteem, boundaries, and defining herself rather than letting others define her. She gets very worried about what others think of her or say about her behind her back. She tends to attract people who take advantage of her, because she openly lets them. She pins all of her self worth on all of the people she had helped and will help, rather than on herself. Callie wants to feel like she is helping someone, so anyone can fake a limp and get her attention. This often means she is stressed and overworking herself, not leaving any energy to take care of herself. And every once and a while this stress and frustration will explode from its bottle in a rage that could rival a stormy sea. And you don't want to be within a 2-mile radius of her when that happens.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+Socially and emotionally adept, excellent intuition when it comes to reading humans and animals alike, attentive and caring - an excellent caretaker, accepting of all people no matter their origins, andmakes a conscious effort to never judge a book by its cover like so many have judged her. Optimistic and an exellent listener and team player. She is a quick learner, curious about the world, and not afraid to ask silly questions if she doesn't understand something. Obviously being a werewolf comes with certain benefits. She works excellently under pressure.
- Can be a bit too bubbly, emotional and silly for some, and tends to butt heads with pessimists and sticks-in-the-mud who complain or are rude to others. Cries very easily - Sad? Tears. Happy? Tears. Angry? Tears. Not a leader at heart, and much prefers to care for others. Can be sensitive to criticism and sometimes gets very upset thinking of what others think of her. She is working on self-confidence from within but it's a hard battle. She hates conflict and is slow to fight or hurt others even when ordered to. She tends to put others' needs before hers. She lets others take advantage of her kindness and generosity, and gets overworked. Occasionally she will explode in a fit of rage and yelling, and you'll want to be out of her way when that happens.
Other: She loves animals and is good at befriending them. She hangs around Aiden quite a bit, constantly asking him what various animals are really saying. If she met a giraffe she would probably pass out from excitement - she claims they are one of her favorite animals. (But she has said that about almost every animal at some point.)
