Kodak couldn't believe what he was seeing. What were Hoku, Hiku, and Hokoshiko doing here? And why did it seem like they weren't targeting the Grey Hill wolves, but him? His godson, he coyldnt just leave them. And there was no way Hoku was going to beat Cooper without getting hurt really badly. But as Lidiya had said, they had the opportunity to run. Hymir and Commodus's pups were almost like sons to him. Would they betray him like this? It wasn't until he heard Hiku yell, "Hoku! Where are you? Where is Kodak?" That he knew his suspicions were correct. Njord must have found out, and wanted Kodak dead. Kodak looked to Lidiya. "Yes. We have to go." His eyes only brightening a little. He looked back to Hoku, who was now losing the battle desperately. "O God. Please don't let Hoku die." He mumbled under his breath, before looking to Lidiya and indicating with his tail that they needed to go. Hoku wouldn't fend Cooper off for long. Making sure Lidiya was following, Kodak broke into a run, running as fast as he could, and making sure Lidiya was keeping up. Now Lidiya and Kodak were on their own again. Together. It hadn't worked out last time, and Kodak knew he would push anything again, even though her scent created clouds in his brain. He wouldn't let it take control. She would only be in heat for another couple of weeks. But these were no doubt going to be the hardest weeks of his life. He turned to Lidiya, not letting up his pace. "We have to go to that pack. Lead the way. " Kodak said between breaths. They needed someone to take them in. They needed protection, and a home. |

Lidiya silently nodded, still in disbelief that something like this was happening. Yet again, they were running away from their respective packs, yet again. Lidiya honestly somewhat couldn't believe they were doing this. Like, she had expected them to be following - but not that closely. Not wasting any energy like she had earlier, she nodded. To be fair, she didn't really know much about thi place anymore - they were getting further and further away from where she was used to going. But she'd try anyway. Leading th way to goodness knows where, far out of their comfort zone, she ran away from the sounds of battle slowly fading behind them. Away from her old pack again. Away from everyone, to try find something new. --- Deverick, now out of his confinement den, looked in slight bewilderment at the ragged party that limped back to the site. The sun was almost down, and Dev knew two full days had passed since Lidiya had - left. Abandoned him. For... he didn't know if he should believe the rumors or not. Was she really lured away by a male? Dev, knowing his older sister well, doubted it, but - anything was possible. He just didn't know. Right now, though, he watched the expedition party that had gone out to chase - and hunt, and possibly even kill her older sister - limp back. That, out of all things, was most certainly not what he had been expecting to see when they came back. He had expected them to be triumphant - for how could they not be? There was no way the two of them could have ousted six enforcers. But here they were. Limping, injured - actually, possibly more than injured. Wounded. In more than one case, more than just a little bit. Dev could notice the dragging hind limb one had, or the gashes along their belly that was still bleeding on another. How the heck did that happen? Word spread quickly, however. "Tomorrow. Tomorrow, Alpha is hosting a meeting to explain everything. To do something." Dev didn't have a good feeling about that.

Kodak and Lidiya ran throughout the day, and even some when it turned into night. They had made alot of progress, creeping more into the mountain region where supposedly there was a pack. But that could wait til tomorrow. For the last few minutes, Kodak had been looking for a cave, so that they could settle down for the night. But so far he had been unlucky. Kodak and Lidiya had barely said a word to each ither since meeting Cooper again. For now the threat of Cooper would be gone. But Kodak knew it wouldn't be the last time he saw the Grey Hill Alpha. Especially now because Lidiya is his daughter. But according to that than. The same way he is a prince, she is a princess. So now they were equals. That's one thing she would have to get used too. But what he hated about the whole ordeal is that he is taking her from her father. He knew how close a relationship he had with his father, even at such a young age. Hiw devasted he had been at his death. He shook the thoughts from his head. As they rounded the next smaller hill, Kodak was surprised to see a small cave, it was under a granite rock overhang. Big enough to fit about one wolf. And not a Kodak sized wolf, more like a Lidiya-sized wolf. But this would have to do. He turned to Lidiya, who was still at his side. "Lidiya, it looks like there is a place to sleep up ahead." With that, he began to make his way over to the overhang. At first he would have suggested that they bith try to sleep on there together. But as he recalled the events of the morning, he was pretty sure Lidiya wouldn't be comfortable with that. Especially with what he tried to pull this morning. His ears pinned back slightly in regret, but quickly perked back up. "This should do. You sleep inside, and I'll sleep out here." He nodded as if the discussion was finished, and walked over to the side of the overhang, walked in three circles, and layed down. She would be able to see him from the den, but they wouldn't be near each other. He didn't really like it, but he didn't want to make the wrong decision again, or force her into anything that she didnt want to do. And with that, he layed his head on his paws, and leaned his back against the cold rock wall, waiting for Lidiya to enter the den before drifting off. |

Lidiya was greatful for Kodak not doing what he really had been doing that morning. Really, he was. But the way he had treated him throughout the day - detached, like there was a stone wall between them - as much as she wanted Kodak to keep his distance within the next week... she didn't want that wall. "Kodak?" Instead of going into the little place that Kodak had pre-assigned for her - despite he had found it - she wandered over to where Kodak was lying down. Lying down on her front, not really close to him, but near enough that she could still smell barely his scent - this was the first time she'd been able to properly talk to him since the morning. Since... since they had both learnt who exactly she was. In fact, it was the first time since that morning she'd been able to look at him properly. And he looked... detached. Unfeeling. Not what she had thought Kodak was from the past two days they had spent together. "... I think you want to know what Alph- Cooper was talking about earlier." She'd wanted to explain what she knew, she really did. She just hadn't had the opportunity until now. Plus, she really shouldn't be calling him "alpha". He wasn't her alpha anymore. Any more than he was her father. Which... just wasn't a thing. "I... I didn't know he was my father. That was the same breaking news that it was to you as it was to me." She exhaled a breath quietly. "My mother never told me who my sire was. Who she'd - mated with." When she was in heat, much like how she was now. "I didn't know it was... Cooper. He never treated me like one, barely even acknowledged my existence." If she could have chosen anyone in the pack to be her sire - and believe it when she said she did think about it quite a lot - one of the very last wolves she would have picked would have been Cooper. "I still don't know what to make of it either." She looked downwards, unsure of what to say. |

Kodak wanted to go to her side and comfort her. But Lidiya had built a wall between them that Kodak vowed not to break. So instead he lowered his head. What was he supposed to say that wouldn't make her angry. He knew his father since day one, and had even known him before he was murdered. Lidiya had known her father while not knowing him her whole life. He had no experience with that. It was custom that once a pups ears open they learn immediately who their father is, either by sound, sight, or smell. Clearly that wasn't the case in Grey Hill. But still, Kodak knew nothing of what he should say. Of what would and would not cross the line. But he still couldn't look at her. Whenever he did, he thought about what he had done earlier, and how that had caused the wall to be built. But still he said nothing, his head still lowered, he turned his body slightly so that he wouldn't be able to see her, and then slowly waited to drift off to sleep. He rather her be angry at him for not responding than what would happen if he did, and said the wrong thing. But what did she expect from him. He would be cautious around her from now on. Scared even. Because if he got snapped at one more time, deep down, he knew she wasn't going to come back, and surprisingly enough, he wouldn't either. |

Something silently broke in Lidiya as Kodak didn't respond, let alone even look at her. Which was ironic, since what had happened that morning. She turned and left Kodak, unwilling to face the fact that, apparently, Kodak wasn't speaking to her. Or even looking at her. Look at me! she wanted to scream into Kodak's ear. I'm right here! Of course, though, she wouldn't actually. If Kodak wanted this mental wall built because of the father she never knew, then so be it. Even though she didn't like it - no, she absolutely hated it. Silently retreating to the ledge that Kodak had found, she curled up into a tight ball, Kodak's scent just on the edge of her scent range - but unlike yesterday, now it was totally untouchable. It wasn't something she could lie next to for the entire night. It was untouchable by purely her for a crime she didn't commit. As she lay there, she thought about what they'd do next. Doubtlessly, they'd find another pack - eventually. Maybe they could be taken in and guaranted protection. It was winter. Did that mean other females would be in heat too right now? Would Kodak, with unrelated genes, decide to pair with one of them? Would he- - she didn't want to think about it. Because whatever Kodak had done earlier this morning, whatever he had felt, from what she'd seen - that was truly gone now. And she couldn't even mourn the loss of it. Her backside gave a slight throb, reminding herself of... herself, really, who was definitely still in heat. Something told her she wouldn't catch much sleep tonight. |

He could hear her as she made her way over to the ledge, clearly angry or annoyed at him, which one he didn't know. He just hoped she didn't get the wrong impression. He knew how females were on his pack, or former pack. At first if you looked at them in that way, the snapped at you. Similar to what Lidiya had done. But towards the end if you didn't look at them, in that way or not, they snapped at you. Maybe Lidiya was going through that? Probably not. To be honest, he could care less who her father was. It could have been his father's killer, now would he not like her father, absolutely, but that didn't shape who you are. He was Njord's brother. But no one saw him like that. They saw him like the Wolf he was. And that's how he saw Lidiya. Did he still love her? Yes. Did he want to be with her? Absolutely. He was already head over heels with her. Was it just because she was in heat? Maybe. Most likely. He usually didn't fall in love with wolves this quickly. But Lidiya was different, but he couldn't put his paw on it. He had given her the decision twice, And both times she had said no. This morning, and a couple hours ago before the attack. He huffed, as he tried to doze off, one ear perked in case anything or anyone came near. But soon, he fell off into a light sleep, his last thoughts, as they had been for the last three night, were on Lidiya. |

Having barely slept more than a few hours, yet not tired at all, Lidiya rose along with the early morning sun, stretching her limbs before running over to a tree to relieve herself. She was doing that a lot now of her condition. Day two of her heat and it just felt so much worse - like yesterday was just an introduction. Briefly forgetting what had happened yesterday, she padded towards Kodak's scent like a magnet, before realizing and remembering. Kodak seemed to hate her. For a crime she hadn't known she'd committed. Which absolutely sucked. Sighing, she sat down, looking at the sun rising, and knowing that she wouldn't sleep a wink even if she tried. If only Kodak could understand that she was a torn as he was about her father! It couldn't be that hard, she thought to herself. Today she couldn't even sit still. She managed about ten seconds before moving off, smelling some water in the distance and heading to it. How she was losing this much water this quickly, the had no idea. Maybe it was just her body responding to her peeing more often - because of the heat. God damn it, why did it have to have occurred now out of all times? Couldn't it have waited? The sun hadn't yet fully risen by the time she got back, this time refusing to look at Kodak's sleeping form like he had last night to her. |

Kodak slowly woke up, before realizing he had overslept. His eyes fluttered open, and he slowly rose to his paws, giving out a long and deep yawn, and stretching, his muscles pulling as he did so. Once he had finished about three rounds of stretches, he began to look around frantically looking for Lidiya. Had they Cole back in the night? Did they take her? His heart rate had soared through the roof before he saw her form a little ways off. With a breath of relief he trotted over to her. Steering to the left and making sure he didn't sit right next to her. He gave a long yawn again. She was facing the opposite direction that he had approached her. And now he could see her face. Was that anger and sadness on there? Was she that disappointed in him about what had happened. He still hadn't apologized, and he decided this was the right time. "Sorry I overslept." He started, not moving but looking in her direction. "Look, I'm sorry for what happened yesterday. I didn't mean to.. you know.." He paused, seeing no change in her face. "I know you're mad at me, and I don't want it to define the way you see me. If you still even see me at all." He looked to the ground as he finished, his tail wrapping anxiously at him paws. Hopefully he didn't say the wrong things again. But at the same time, he hoped she would still be angry with him. |

What the hell was he talking about? Lidiya didn't know, but she never really was good at interpreting speeches. "So you're telling me now that you don't care about Cooper being my sire. Despite yesterday you clearly did." Her back stiffened, and she resisted the urge to look at him, instead looking out into into the morning again. "Is this just a ploy because I'm in heat? Is that it?" As soon as she said it, it clicked. She had been... that close... to accepting it. But then, as soon as she said it, she realized it was probably true. She had internally forgiven him for what he had done yesterday morning - but now, apparently, Kodak was willing to forgive who she was, and what she was. Even though she was still devastated over who exactly her sire was. He was willing to forgive her - because of her current state. Would he have forgiven her if she wasn't in heat? Lidiya doubted it. "We should probably move off now. Before... Cooper... catches up to us." She was completely deaf to whatever Kodak might have said. She just moved off, accidentally brushing against Kodak as she stood up and moved off - away from her pack, for yet another day. "Just... give me time." she whispered to herself. She didn't even know if Kodak heard it - but he probably had. But she didn't care. She just needed time. Kodak had to give it to her. |
